“Identifying Popular and Obscure Creatures in a Divine Otherworld”—Trilobite crossed over into a trilobite, trembling in a world he believed was full of storms and chaos.

To survive and to evolve, he had to devour various plankton, small bugs, and shrimp. Survival was so hard that he had no time to think about anything except eating and hiding everywhere.

But he didn’t know that his deeds were widely praised in three thousand worlds. People respectfully called him “the magnificent and extraordinary Giant God,” “the benevolent giver,” and “the evil…”

It's a misunderstandings-based novel that for the MC mainly boils down to eat-shit-sleep-repeat. Not my usual cup of tea, but treating him as a force of nature, it still manages to be quite entertaining.

The paleontology niche is also quite underpopulated, so it's breaking some real new ground.

Not exactly an epic, but do check it out.

That said, I have some major issues with the translation. Not the general prose, which is at least legible; attribution errors, inconsistent names, misgendering, etc. That part overall gets a C-, characters barely matter so names... more>> and genders don't much matter either.

No, my issue is that this is a paleontology novel, and so many terms are so very wrong.

Devonian bone plate fish, Dunckers fish? Dunckers fish is a modern pipefish, you mean Dunkleosteus.

An ancestral squid relative misnamed Mantis Shrimp? That's Nectocarys, Swimming Shrimp.

Pander fish? Panderichtys.

Charcharocles, a small Devonian shark ancestor? Charcharocles is a freaking megalodon! It's Cladoselache!

If you want to translate a novel like this, you gotta at least Google the terminology. I'm obviously going to want to look up what these creatures looked like, so the names have got to be correct.

There are more examples beyond the scientific.

With the other 40k references, the Black Expedition is clearly the Black Crusade.

The demon god councillors should be named after the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia, so Gimmerly is Gremory, Leilajie is Leraje, etc.

Since she's a world, I suspect Valaharl is Valhalla.

Translators could easily add half to one star to the rating just with consistency, referencing, and proof reading. <<less
