In many ways, it's a novel that omits a lot of explanations. To some extent it can be argued that it leaves the details to the imagination of the reader, but I'd say this goes beyond that by a significant margin.

To summarise the first chapters and backstory (it's the premise so not exactly a spoiler, but skip this if you want to read it yourself first) :

The MC was originally an orphan, saved another kid's life, but ended up disabled and not able to use their legs, so they got... more>> into videogames as a means of escaping reality.

For some reason they got kidnapped or otherwise made to possess the body shown on the cover, but also thrust into repeated battle royale situations as some form of experiment. The MC ended up surviving, and woke up in a luxurious apartment with a bunch of disposable capital.

None of the real reasons behind any of these events are explained at all. But basically the MC is now a master of deception and assassination (but didn't work as a real assassin for hire to amass this wealth in the first place or anything).

Then comes along an ad for a VR battle royale game that newly features daggers, and becoming a player in that seems to be what the story is actually about. So the author seemed to have wanted to create a backstory that explains the skill for the sake of another pro gamer / streamer novel... but didn't really explain it.

Anyway, aside from that it's not terrible. Characters seem decent, internet reactions are somewhat entertaining.

I think there's going to be some content about working through past trauma at some point, possibly through streaming, but it's probably not going to be the focus, and details of the trauma haven't been revealed, so even future arcs might keep it vague and focus on a more positive interaction of being good at the game and bantering with the stream chat.

The whole "looking suspicious" running gag works pretty well and keeps generating funny interactions.

It's too early to make a definitive judgement, but I can't completely overlook some of the flaws in writing. If the next 50-100 chapters end up really funny I might change my rating to 5 stars, but for now it's 4. <<less
