The reason why past MC give him the curse is to atone for the life of Feng Xushen (he died because of searching for Howard). To break the curse, Howard must make Feng Xushen fall in love with him (Howard) and promise to be together forever. Feng Xushen in the current life (2 years in the future arc) is a vampire.

MC went back to the past 18 years ago because of Youxian Pillow (some kind of artifact) where he become a kid and went to find ML but ML 18 years ago didn't recognize him at all. The black and white heibai wuchang from the past are also different one with the present. After a shadow send MC back to the present, ML and MC go back to the past together to investigate the case (ML in his usual form while MC went back to his 3 yrs old form, the two met ML from 18 years ago and the two previous heibai wuchang.

The two ML fight each other in every moment, especially after the 18 years ago ML know that MC is their master, the two ML not only fight each other, they also tr*shtalking each other.

Plot twist: the one who stole the pillow is actually the present Hei Wuchang and Bai Wuchang who's covering for him. Hei Wuchang who used to be Song Xing want to take revenge on the Fan guy who used to be his best friend for killing him. The problem later get solved by using MC's modern problem require modern solution technique.

There's a scene where Baili Wuchang tries to take Wen Nuan to a gay bar and they don't let him in because they need them to prove that they're gay. I had to stop reading and go touch grass because I was appalled. But then I reminded myself that danmei novels are not usually a place of LGBTQ+ representation. I closed my eyes and moved on and tried to forget that happened.

In the past life, ML challenges MC to a fight because ML doesn’t believe anyone is stronger than him including MC. MC agrees on the condition ML will be his person if MC wins. ML loses and it is said they fall in love. But the actual process of falling in love or the reason is not shown. It is just told and not shown.
