Lilycove City, he attained the title of the youngest ever Senior Breeder, leaving a permanent mark in the records of the Breeder Association.

Returning to Cerulean City as a Trainer, he easily defeated Bug Catchers with a single Pokémon and dominated the battles against the shorts-wearing kids along the way.

This is actually a ordinary Pokémon fanfiction story, where the protagonist transmigrates to the real Pokémon world and embarks on a journey of exploration and personal growth, starting from Fallarbor Town.

It's not bad? It tries to stay true to the source material, but the author's perspective is VERY Chinese when they take the liberty to try to flesh out the lore. Pokemon medicine got reduced down to rote recipes of obscure natural ingredients, when everyone knows that the tech level of Pokemon is sufficient for detailed chemical and even type energy analysis. Hell, getting a breeder's credentials is converted to a license with a multiple choice exam and REALLY open ended essay questions, that kinda cross into technically unrelated fields.

An Azurill is presenting symptoms of green cheeks, nausea, and pain; provide a diagnosis and treatment plan. Bruh, that's Pokemon medicine. If you're treating this as poisoning (which the MC does through magical asspull knowledge), you're seriously doing things wron. The approach in a Pokemon Breeding exam should be focused on long term causes and solutions like diet, exercise, and lifestyle; not medicine.

Basically, my complaint is that the writer has a very restricted understanding of the world. I can't exactly fault them for that when they live in a repressive dictatorial dystopia. <<less

Although this story doesn't have the fast-action fights like in most pokemon fanfictions. The world building and attention to details surrounding the MC and his pokemons made up for it. I like this more realistic approach to the nornally overused pokemon journey plot.

I usually don't read or like fanfics but this one is quite good the realistic spin on the world of Pokémon really suits it. Not to mention the main character and the story's plot are very well written and the translation is also very good. If you like Pokémon and wanted a slightly more mature and realistic take then I would definitely recommend this novel 8/10.

This fanfic felt like: Don’t care about the information of some useless sh*t that I will definitely use only for 1 chapter? Here you go!! Now multiply it with the amount of chapters available!

Like, the recipe of berry, how it uses some pokemon’s saliva, or some type of grass (which I clearly give zero f*ck) the habitant of pokemon and their habits, the novel feels very informative but useless at the same time. Like, I feel like you could skip some content of exam, delete some dialogue for the useless... more>> information, and the fanfiction could go on.

Another complaint I have is really just how boring the story is.

main character have pokemon when he went out, he meets some master, gets know to him, the master gives him another pokemon.

A meh plot, in my opinion. I just can’t get attached to the pokemons because how sudden the plot moves.

I can’t get attached to mc’s first pokemon (Beautyfly or what its name is because he suddenly got a second pokemon and before that happened, we don’t see much of his interaction with that pokemon.

I almost got attached to the second pokemon (once again, I forgot the name) because they spent time together in novel, but couldn’t because the plot moved too fast. ‘XXX learned thus move, ’ ‘I told XXX my past, ’ ‘XXX battled something and learned a new move.’ That’s basically it.

I want to see more. How they interact, the second pokemon’s personality, the chemistry between MC and pokemon, the struggles to learn this move. BUT, instead of doing that, the author skipped out most of it and instead wrote out some unnecessary information such as what type of grass this is, what it attracts, why it’s poisonous, in what year this was made and what year this was discovered. (I exaggerated a bit yup.)

Or idk, maybe because I’m comparing this fan fic with ‘Pokemon Master’ too much which did what I listed above perfectly.

This is genuinely one of the best fanfics I have read in terms of worldbuilding and engaging. What I love the most is how the world of pokemon has been expanded and explained here.

I love how Terrance's pokemon are also quite different in the sense that they are not just the basic or most popular or well-known pokemon like Pikachu, Charlizard etc. Mainly as a breeder, he truly specializes in bringing out the best of the pokemon that he raises and trains and exercises them to overcome their weakness the... more>> best as he can. His pokemon have their specialties and abilities they are better at which is pretty realistic. For eg - dogs who can jump higher or have faster speed, how some animals can use one limb or even their brain better. Here its

Terrance's attitude and will towards what he wants to achieve is so interesting as well. He mainly wants to be a breeder and a pokemon contender. And he genuinely has so much knowledge and has studied so much for his exams. He has a lot of potential and his determination to pass is very admiring. He works hard towards each pokemon and really brings out their potential by giving specific stuff like food or different exercises for each type of pokemon that he has.

Also he is on his journey which many times is not on the road as he meets different people and pokemon etc. Its a lot about discovering too.

he meets familiar people that we know like Ash, Brock, that girl who could talk with psychic pokemon etc. Briefly as well. We meet newer but cool characters as well like his mentor Victor, other professors etc. I ESPECIALLY love his bond with his grandmother and the siblings at the orphanage.
