Becoming a God in the Zerg World by Livestreaming BL Novels

Shi Cun Jin is a renowned novelist. He closed his eyes a the night after discussing a major project and, upon opening them, transmigrated into a useless male Zerg.

Shi Cun Jin: ?

The original novel had turned from a HE (Happy End) to BE (Bad End).

He must correct the plot to return home, but the transmigration system is so weak that it went dormant and Shi Cun Jin almost died the night he transmigrated.

Low-quality start + catastrophic beginning. If he dies… it counts for nothing! I just finished discussing a major project!

Rather than saving the plot, he should first figure out how to save himself!

Shi Cun Jin found that the Zerg world was culturally impoverished when he absorbed memories [of his new body] . So he picked up his old profession overnight, live-streaming his writing on StarNet with a shockingly captivating title:

[My roommate always dresses very warmly. One day I came back early and unexpectedly discovered he has a tail hook?]

Passer-by Female Zerg: Wait a minute.

Passers-by female Zerg: What??

Countless zergs were shocked and clicked into this livestream… No one left until the broadcast ended.

On the first night of the new account’s broadcast, it parachuted to the top of the rankings!

Shi Cun Jin’s one battle to fame, his bl warrior sweeping through the rugged zerg world!

More and more female zergs squatted in the livestream room, mocking and saying no male zerg would act this way! —Then straightforwardly tipping.

After [Roommate] , the streamer launched the series [Colleague] , [Doctor] … and other bl melodramatic novels that these single female zergs couldn’t resist and passionately pursued!

Everyone wanted to know who the streamer was! But no one could find out.

Until one day, the always punctual streamer posted a suspension notice:

[Involved in a hornet tribe war, StarNet unstable, pausing updates.]

Millions of female zergs waiting for the livestream: ???

The leaders of both sides secretly following the updates: …

Ceasefire! Emergency ceasefire! First, get the teacher out!!

The civil war can be lost, but the dream and faith of single female zergs cannot die!!

*

—Even before sending the notice, Shi Cun Jin had already escaped danger.

Who would have thought that the wild and arrogant uke, whom the original author couldn’t control, would become attracted by others? He secretly loved following melodramatic stories and had quietly become Shi Cun Jin’s top donator, willing to charge straight into the war zone to save his CP.**

The cool guy’s face was smeared with blood at this moment, his gaze dark and sinister, his expression terrifying.

Conversely, the hands holding the male zerg were consistently trembling: their movements tight and anxious. Shi Cun Jin was held uncomfortably.

Anushka knelt on one knee and carefully grasped his hand, trembling and stammering, “…No, don’t be afraid, I’m sorry, I’ll use the inhibitor right away.”

Shi Cun Jin couldn’t help but reach out and touch his golden hair.

** The marked sentence has Online Dating mixed into this section of text, but CP is clearly stated in English at the end. It’s unclear from the summary alone whether he was already dating the author online or just wanted to save the author so that his favorite CP would not get their story axed.

——

Shi Cun Jin x Anushka

[Fake gentle and sickly but truly cunning and shrewd seme x cold and aloof high flower of the peak but actually tsundere and pure love uke]

I give it 3.5 stars.

I finished reading the main story (read some of the translations and the rest in Chinese) but I can’t find the extras, so I haven’t read those.

The story is complex and it has quite a unique take on a Zerg story. It was very interesting and that’s why I finished reading it. Then why did I only give it 3.5 stars, you ask? Well... Even though the story was very interesting, unique, with a very cautious and smart MC, it also has a lot of problems.

ML... more>> is really likable at first and you start shipping him with the MC even though you know that in the original story, ML goes insane and turns pretty dark; but there’s a reason the ML turns all yandere in the original story. So, you’d think that wouldn’t happen now that our MC is here and MC is very sensitive, very observant, always responds to ML’s feelings and always reassures ML. But no. Something happened to MC once, ONCE and ML went all yandere. Even though he didn’t go to extremes and never really pushed MC to do something he didn’t want to do, he still went there.

Spoiler

He freaking locked MC up. That’s an immediate NO for me. I don’t care. That’s crossing a bottom line for me. Even though it didn’t last long, but that’s because MC went with it to reassure ML until ML slowly let up. But that’s completely horrifying to me.

[collapse]

I know that the author wrote the Zergs to be creatures who went with instincts and when they hate, they hate very strongly and when they love, they also love very strongly. Human common sense and morals don’t apply here, to the point that killing another Zerg isn’t even considered a big deal. Superiors can just kill an underling without having to explain anything to anybody. Ok, I get that. But if you’re going to write a story where human ideals don’t apply, then don’t freaking write about a native Zerg having delusions of monogamy and don’t write about the most influential Zerg in the universe promoting monogamy either. That’s just going to hurt the Zerg. The uneven gender ratio is a fact in the Zerg race, so it’s only natural for the Zerg to be polygamous. That’s what’s going to help their race survive and that should not only be common sense for them but also something they want, especially for Zerg who live in times of war and Zerg mortality is extremely high. It’s fine if a very small minority would want monogamy, because there are always individuals who are different and that’s ok, but this author made the most powerful and influential Zergs monogamous (not only the main couple) and even made them promote it (the MC promotes it with his online novels which are popular with the vast majority of Zergs). Also, polygamy should be natural for the Zerg, but this author wrote the Zerg to be extremely territorial over their partner and female Zergs to completely repel each other, which makes no sense at all in this setting.

Also, the author wrote that male Zergs are incapable of imp**gnating a female Zerg if they have no feelings for the female Zerg, but fertilization via frozen s*erm is possible. Huh...

But there are designated festivals where male Zergs have one night stands with random female Zergs they take a fancy to and those festivals always result in a bunch of eggs being born. So... it’s not feelings what’s important but attraction?

But if the couple’s feelings aren’t strong, the genes of the offspring will slip, meaning the genetical grade of their offspring will be lower than the parents’. So, feelings are actually important?

Also, fertilization via frozen s*erm will most likely result in female Zergs, since that type of fertilization isn’t as good as real copulation, making the gender ratio even more skewed.

But Zergs are horrible at romance... so... the Zerg are pretty much screwed. Well, of course until MC miraculously appeared with his romance novels promoting true love in monogamy, duh?

Ok... that aside... I also didn’t like the gender roles in this novel. I know Zergs are an imaginary alien race and all settings can be written however the author wants. But the whole genre of Zergs is appealing because it makes strong manly men be the submissive ones, but somehow this author went and wrote the male Zergs to be something similar to concubines in an emperor’s harem, even though the harem was the male Zergs’, but the treatment they received was pretty much that of an imperial concubine. Completely protected and even isolated from the rest of the universe and even though they received the best education, they were still ignorant of real issues in their society and never get to interact with the opposite gender until they are about to get married. Pretty much flowers in a greenhouse. Oh, and they are dainty too. Also, the offsprings get the female parent’s last name and the inheritance is also through the female bloodline. So... it’s still the manly men who rule the universe. The only difference is that the manly men are the ones who lay eggs and that’s why they are the “females” and the dainty ones are the “males” because they are the ones who spread their seeds. The male Zergs are treated as precious only because they are rare, so they are pretty much precious trophies. At least in other Zerg novels, male Zergs have the most power, so it creates a contrast where the weak males have power over the strong and abundant females. I get the author wanting to write something different, but this is not it.

Then, there’s the pace of this story. Actually, the author maintains quite a consistent pace throughout the whole story, which is admirable, because a lot of authors tend to rush the story towards the end, but the thing is, that this author maintains the pace to a frustrating degree. As the title of this novels says, the MC livestreams his written romance novels. This novel actually writes out the content of those novels. So, there are stories within the story, which is fine. I actually quite liked the content of MC’s novels because they were quite interesting and engaging and like the author said in their notes, writing novels and seeing his readers’ response is the MC’s way to understand Zerg society and integrate into it. MC’s novels are part of MC’s growth and they are important to the story, which I understand, but I don’t appreciate it when the story reaches some urgent conflict but it gets interrupted because it’s time for the MC to broadcast the next part of his story. It’s quite frustrating to be honest.

Also... the author likes to make everything so dangerous and difficult for the MC. I know that the more difficult the situation, the more it can showcase how brilliant the MC is when he’s able to handle the situation, no matter what, but to me that was quite stressful. That might not be the case for everyone and some people actually like this style, where the whole universe is in hell mode for the MC, but it actually stresses me out, so it’s not my cup of tea. To be honest, there were a few points where IMO, the antagonist should’ve already died, but the author’s way to save the antagonist to keep the conflict going was just not great and I was kind of over it. Yes, later I saw that there was still some role for the antagonist to play, but seriously, I was so over him already, so I didn’t feel much satisfaction when MC finally got rid of him. It was more like a “well... it was long over due... ” type of feeling. Also, this whole “hell mode to showcase MC’s brilliance” loses its effectiveness because a lot of it is actually luck. MC is actually quite brilliant, but the thing is that the whole setting was so difficult that if it wasn’t because of luck on top of MC’s intelligence and capabilities, MC wouldn’t have been able to complete his mission and would’ve died a thousand times.

Spoiler

MC was actually the system’s 4th host. So the system had tried to save this world 3 times before and failed, not because the previous hosts were incapable but because again, the whole setting was in HELL MODE. 3 innocent humans died so that MC could have more information and resources at his disposal to survive this hell. So MC was lucky he was the 4th host. He was lucky one of his predecessors lived in Cat’s Eye (the exclusive planet where high level male Zergs live) so he got information about it. He was lucky the second host went crazy and decided to conquer the Zerg universe out of frustration because it showed him the politics of this universe. He was lucky the third host was so unlucky that he became a female Zerg instead of a male Zerg so the third host had no other option but to become a military Zerg, leaving MC with unlimited resources, like information about the military, the legions, fighting techniques, case studies about military females, etc, etc. The third host was unable to complete the mission because he was super unlucky, but he was so capable that everything he did became invaluable resources to the MC. And what’s actually a bit infuriating is how the story makes the first 3 hosts seem incapable at first or easily tempted and because of their incompetence they failed their mission and died in the end, but only later do we find out that’s not the case. The previous hosts actually failed because they were thrown into a super dangerous universe while being completely blind, because hosts don’t get any information at all at first. They don’t even know that there’s an antagonist so they could easily fall into the antagonist’s trap. And even after we find out, the novel doesn’t emphasize it enough. It doesn’t give enough credit to the previous hosts.

[collapse]

Then there’s the strong h*mophobia among the Zerg (female x female). Zerg stories are supposed to be BL. I mean, yeah, sure, their genders are different, but the appearance of all Zergs are that of male humans and generally, people who write and read Zerg stories are into BL, so... what’s with the h*mophobia? Yeah, sure, in a world where the couples are officially different genders regardless of their appearance, some h*mophobia existing makes sense, but I don’t understand the need for the strong h*mophobia the author wrote. Like I mentioned before, in this universe, female Zergs REPEL one another, and they are so repulsed by the same gender that they’d get allergic reactions from just hugging or coming into close contact with another female Zerg, which I believe is just psychological, meaning, it’s just their h*mophobia creating a physical reaction. And the reason why I think it’s psychological is because:

Spoiler

The ML’s adjutant who was a female military Zerg, kept getting allergic reactions and hives whenever he felt some attraction towards MC while he didn’t know MC was actually a male. MC was incredibly beautiful, so the adjutant kept inadvertently feeling some attraction towards MC or thinking MC was beautiful, but every time that happened, the adjutant would break out in hives. Why? Even if he felt attracted, MC is actually male, so there shouldn’t really be any physical reason for the adjutant to break out in hives unless it was psychological, because the adjutant thought MC was female too.

[collapse]

Anyway, I just thought it was really unnecessary.

Yeah, this is a really long rant, but it’s because there are really a lot of problems with this story. The fact that I finished reading it and the fact I even took the trouble to read the raws means that this story was interesting and captivating enough. So, by no means is this story bad. It’s just that there were a lot of problems with it, or at least, things that bothered me.

So... I do recommend this story, because it’s complex, interesting and quite unique. The thing is that it’s by no means perfect and it might get quite frustrating at times. <<less

ABSOLUTELY EPIC. Seriously. The narration, plot, character development and tension in this story is top-notch! Amazing! Great!

It starts off slow but gains momentum very quickly and I'm kept at the edge of my seat everytime MC does something big!

Our MC is so smart! He has really high EQ and IQ, and is able to analyse and get into other people's psyche. He plans and manipulates everything to work out his way. His stories are also so mindblowingly good! ML on the other hand is yandere. There's some imprisonment also in... more>> the story but he always surrenders to the MC. Their story is very much like MC's second novel - Milan and Joshua.

MC and ML meets at Chapter 122 onwards. It is explosive and SO GOOD. In fact, every scene that they meet is such a blast.

I like the System in this story. They actually play a MAJOR role throughout the story. He is more like an AI that helps the MC by hacking into software, helps him sort through mail and news, fights for him, and a lot more. Seriously System is so cute too! Another plot point that kept me on my toes was the Bloody Carnival arc, omg SO FANTASTIC. Seriously I can't wait for the translations cause CG is doing such a great job! MTL is already so epic so I'm sure reading the proper translation will blow my mind even more.

Will write a more cohesive review but if you love a dynamic story with a lot of intricate plot points coming together, this story is for you. <<less

It's a blackhole, sucking me into reading it as much as I could... since it is ongoing. After reading on the translators site, I was hooked and immediately started Google Translating.

Those with poor restraint and things to do should take caution.

The world building, characters, romance, and plot buildup is great.

There's a bit of a mystery trying to fill in the blanks of the original work, and more & more is added to the story as the reader goes on... in short the story is alive and while some overall directions... more>> of the story can be predicted, the devil is in the details & not plot intrigue predictable at all.

Different parts of the story have the protagonist facing off against other characters on & offline, and it is interesting to see how the protagonist responds. Also how he responds to external environmental conflict.

Tempted to reccomend to my brother for this reason, but it is BL Zerg similar to ABO/ Sentinel-Guide in someways... and he does not read either...

Edit: I am pleased to announce that... I actually got my brother to read it! And he is following along through the official translation.

Albeit, he says it's mainly due to his interest in the Zerg not being villains or Starcraft Zerg fighting humans... which is new to him at least. Also, I can't remember if there's much BL romance early on, but there's lots of action & cool stuff to get him hooked beforehand.

Meanwhile, I became sooooo desperate for updates, that I finally figure out how to make a JJWXC account & buy points for chapters, which is set to auto buy chapters... and I check for updates practically everyday T____T but especially Sundays.

(**My mobile browser auto-google translates the web page, so probably missing stuff.)

This also got me reading a lot of other Zerg BL, but this has to be my favorite one... there's just so much to it, besides the romance. <<less

I've caught up with the raws on JJWXC and I think this has to be my favourite "Zerg" novel!

To start with, the dynamics of the MC and ML are nothing special but I think it's executed quite well.

Classic combo of strong bottom & weak top; both characters are pretty interesting.

... more>> Background is typical, the world building isn't anything particularly special, but the author definitely goes into in-depth detail about the "Zerg" race and the different characteristics of different species, which sets it apart from other novels of the same genre.

And the side characters!!! I like how at first, they pose no threat to the MC — but as they develop, and more characters come on screen, MC has serious competition to be wary of.

Just a warning, the MC is kinda overpowered because he has knowledge of the "future". If you don't like that, I wouldn't recommend this. If you like mind games & tension between characters, read this!

All in all, I give this an 8.8!

Spoiler

I do, however, also wish this novel's main story had continued for longer and we got to see another villain that could overwhelm the MC (like Gabriel did) because it was essentially just about the MC's journey of hegemony after that.

This story is a whole EPIC on the reformation of a Zerg storyline through one person's action.

I really appreciate how the author made everyone have flaws, even the MC despite how powerful his gold fingers are. There were many unexpected moments and the author managed to keep us on our toes.

My only complaint is the quick shift in situational settings. One moment there will be heavy war and conspiracies, the next moment the MC will start livestreaming about his love story. I couldn't get used to the sudden shift in... more>> energy even till where I've caught up to (chpt 269).

One thing to take note is that there's no point reinforcing a normal person's perspective onto this. The author is really good at reminding us that these characters are all not human and we can't apply human society laws on these creatures. There are bloody fights, horrible massacres, and very questionable romance scenes that are normalised by the zerg society. Many times I had to remind myself that this is their normal and to not enforce human laws onto them just because the MC was human.

All in all, this is way more serious than I initially imagined. I have no idea how it's going to develop further but I'm giving a 4.5/5 for now.

Fav arc :

Spoiler

The Bloody Carnival arc is my favourite arc so far. The details are fresh in my mind. The amount of twist and turns in that one arc managed to fufill my reading pangs for the entire month. Author was not joking with the title choice. It was bloody and crazy.

The title makes it sound silly but it's SO SERIOUS.

all the plot threads weave together beautifully and how the romance is built is like bricks laid down carefully one at a time to create a strong and stable foundation for the relationship

I really sympathize with the Zerg Livestream fans because I'm also begging the author to please give us the rest of the story, don't leave us in suspense too long!

English is not my first language, so I might not explain things very well, but I will do my best (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) و.

I love love love love love love love love love love love love Shi Cun Jin! (๑°꒵°๑) ・*♡ The first time I read the synopsis, I thought it would be like the other Zerg novels—that I had just finished reading *chefs kiss*. That's why I tried to wait for the story to finish translating first so that me, and my most hated enemy would not meet (cliffhanger (°ㅂ°ꐦ)) ,... more>> but my curiosity got the better of me, and now I can't stop reading. 😭 Overall, I'm still waiting for the story to be fully translated so I can give this a proper review of what I felt while reading it. Best novel I read in a long time, in this novel the worldbuilding is so good that I'm surprised and the villain, oh the villain, is so well done that I felt threatened and afraid.

Just a thing, if you don't like yandere ML, this novel may not be your cup of tea, and there are few plot holes that aren't filled in the main text. But it's not a big deal.

Good novel 5/5

Two words:

Amazingly executed.

Best part of this novel:

Spoiler

• When you feel like what the MC did was simply a matter of fact and not some exaggerated transmigration buff, you know the author has done a great job.

• Speaking of which I really have to say, that world-building was amazing (tho confusing sometimes cuz of MTL) ; my favorite part gotta be the netizens' reactions. Sometimes, the way they focus on the wrong thing is so amusing. You can feel that they aren't human, so their focus isn't quite the same.

"That's what Zerg society is like." This sentiment feels natural.

• There aren't many novels that can make the characters feel so alive. All of them are so well-written that a huge part of the novel wouldn't exist. The overall high rating and the five-reviews-dominated section wouldn't be what it is without these characters. One good example:

The antagonist. Damn, just f*cking damn. Is this a Chinese novel? Are you seriously telling me this is a Chinese novel? What happened to the fake white lotuses? Where are the green tea b***ches? The hypocrites? Intitled for nothing family members? How did a Chinese author writing BL novels come up with this kind of antagonist? Are you serious? Are you serious? Like, are you f*cking serious? You don't understand. It's not like it's the first time I've seen a brilliant antagonist, but this is the first time I've seen a genuinely *good* antagonist in a BL romance novel that isn't braindead... The excitement.

Well, I won't spoil anything about him—it's better to see for yourself—but seriously, such a fresh cup of tea.

Especially the scene where he almost died. I was like, *please don't die, please don't die, please don't die* over and over again the entire chapter. I almost cried for him. :D

• The ending wasn't rushed.

[collapse]

Another thing I like:

Spoiler

I really like the system too.

The system is the MC's greatest golden finger, even more so than knowing the future (which is hard to obtain). But this golden finger (system) would be useless without effort.

The system has a really great personality, and it's very well-written. It's not annoying or overly chatty. The most brilliant thing about it is that it's like an AI with the potential to become an evil AI if not handled carefully. It's a good system, but it could easily turn into the kind of AI that takes over the world and kills people to achieve its goal.

[collapse]

My favorite character:

Spoiler

The original protagonist gong.

At the start of the novel, you'll have a bad impression of this character. I, too, thought he wasn't worthy of the original protagonist shou, but I was really wrong. I won't go into details, but oh my God, how I wish I could just cuddle him, ruffle his hair gently, hug him tightly, tell him that he's going to be okay, and kidnap him far, far away from everybody so he can finally be happy.

I suddenly find the characters surrounding him in the original novel very hateful. I used to like them, but after this protagonist appeared, I started to resent them a little—just a little. My favorability definitely decreased. I mean, I can understand where they're coming from, but I wish they had been better to him but it's understandable, that's just how Zergs are... Tho, I hoped he appeared more. ヾ (•ω•`) o

[collapse]

The only drawback of this novel:

Spoiler

Anushka.

I really hate this character. I hate him twice as much as I sometimes love him, but overall, I just hate him. I find this sentiment conflicting. Just as I'm about to start liking him, he does something that makes me angry, then makes me want to like him again but fails.

He makes my blood pressure rise. When he doesn't appear in a chapter, I'm happy. When he does, I have to monitor my reaction and expression. Why is there a character like him in this otherwise perfect novel?

My only relief is that VV doesn't have to deal with him. I tried to convince myself that he isn't that bad, so I should tolerate him... So yeah, I try as much as possible to tolerate this character's existence, but I really... really, really, really wish he didn't exist in the story. Sob... sob sob sob. Nothing is too perfect in this world. (´。_。`)

[collapse]

In any case, nothing can lower my high evaluation of this novel as of late.

It's a great read—highly recommended. But sadly, I couldn't find the extras in the raws. : ( <<less

Best zergverse novel on here. (And a really good novel overall.)

But best zergverse because of how well the world building is done. Zerg novels always go on about how there are so few males but then there's also a bunch of low level zergs in slums??? But the population issue is addressed through the system of s*erm donations and artificial insemination.

There is still the issue of social inequality between males and females but it's not as bad as in other novels. That is to say that not all males... more>> and horrible domestic ab*ser (except for MC of course!). In fact there are quite a few well fleshed out males that have actual roles in the novel. Not to mention that males have actual political power and positions in society. And that female Zerg are actually all pretty yandere is slowly shown so I kinda get why the male Zerg are defensive and draw clear lines. They have too. And characterization is amazing. MC, ml, side characters and the villain are all fully fleshed out with their own reasons to do what they do. The villain especially is a proper villain and not cookie cutter 2 bit that is easily done and over with.

I think the love story is also very sweet. ML real grows as a character and you end up just really rooting for him.

The short stories that MC writes are also fun to read! As stand alone and as the way they play into the main plot.

If I have one complaint I wish there were side stories about the future direction the side characters go. What happens? Do they find love or other pursuits? But the cast is rather wide so I get author didn't want to get into them all. <<less

caught up with translations at ch.40 tried mtling up to 43 but gave up lol.. I'm giving this novel 5 stars for now :)

im not that familiar with zergs/interstellar novels (not really a huge fan of mechs/sci-fi stuff) so I was a bit confused in the beginning but from my understanding so far, in this universe you can be male but considered a female zerg. the author goes into detail about their differences at the end of chapter 2.

NOT spoiler btw

female zergs have heat cycles/neck glands like in... more>> omegaverse... they're kind of treated like the alphas? in society kinda

ranking goes from: sub-female zerg (betas) > low/mid class female zerg (alphas) > high class/elite female zerg (elite/dominant alphas)

then there are male zergs (aka the omegas but except in this novel/universe they're the tops/inserting im pretty sure..) they have tails referred to as tail hook (i imagined it as a stereotypical devil's tail but according to the translator/author like an avatar's tail from the movie avatar)

the MC is considered a male zerg (but he's f tier/class for now) and it IS bl lol even though the novel will have things like female zerg/male zerg. the ML is a guy female zerg. LOL so like omegaverse but if gender roles were flipped and reversed sorry for my bad explanation.. some female zergs also have some... beast/bug like characteristics.

anyways I was initially worried about the individual stories that other reviewers mentioned but they're actually not that long and easy to separate from the actual novel lol. also the whole livestreaming concept while typing his novel in real-time is super fun and hilarious.

the ML is also definitely my type LOL personality wise he's so.. pure..?...... idk if that's the right word to describe him probably not.

bonus points from me:

    • interesting world building
    • great character foundations/writing in general tbh
    • slow burnnnn romance :> AHHH
    • good mix of real life progress and live-streaming shenanigans

Thank you translator for this wonderful story. I love the MC and all the characters so far. The MC is resilient. He was pulled into a Zerg world novel and left to fend for himself with only his wits and the original body's memories. He perseveres in the face of possible death, brutal treatment, and poor health. The MC determination to live in this unworldly predicament he has been placed in was great to read. I am camping for the rest of the chapters. I wish I can find a... more>> completed translation, but I rather avoid machine translation as that truly ruins the story telling.

Spoiler

A system was born from the strong resentment towards the ending of a novel and whose goal is to turn the story into a happy ending. Unfortunately after three failures, the weaken system grasps the soul of a writer he finds at a writers' convention shining in his vision. It is the last lifeline the system grabs before shutting down and abandoning the writer in the novel. The writer finds himself in the body of a low level, male zerg who possibly died from being beaten. The original body had no part in the story but was the only available source the system could use in its weaken state. MC relies on his knowledge and experiences to escape and only finally receives assistance in the most crucial moments when the system regains enough power to come back online. From there the system is his cheat skill for manipulating the internet and gathering information. I feel deep respect for the original body's deceased female brother who loved him to the point of raising children to care for MC as a backup plan in his demise. His nieces are also devoted and sweet.

Amazing story, excellent translations, however I was too excited to wait to read the translation so I mtl'ed the rest of the story from ch57. I may have missed some subtleties when reading but I still enjoyed the plot and I plan to read the translations when there's enough chapters to bulk read. This is my second time rereading the translations and mtl and I plan to reread it in a few months.

This is so so so good, it was engaging and delightful the whole way. I need to re-read this when the full actual translations are out. I actually like how the tension of reality will be broken by the livestream and the live stories were pretty nice. SCJ and Anushka are lovely 😊

Giving it 5 stars, both for the novel and the author! This one has got me so emotional with the ups and downs. It is one of those stories you cannot predict on what will happen next. I hesitated finishing it at first and ended up very glad because I persisted. Like any other stories, this one both have advantages and disadvantages, depends on what the reader actually likes. This one is a slow burn kind of novel with a different way of storytelling (so many stories inside the novel... more>> itself, if u get what I mean) getting you immersed (almost feel like your reading another story), and of course the not so usual male-female characteristics in a bxb novels (the male is the fragile one, which is very rare in novels). So many emotional and pyschological challenges between the characters that it made the story quite real, they (zerg char.s, not the mc) also didn't immediately change on how they think maintaining their animalistic tendencies farcry from those novels that they almost felt like 'human' even if they are actually not. The MC also felt like a 2d in the first half and gradually became a 3d in the later half. He improved in later chapters which is good. It is also a HE! <<less

4.9/5

It's good, but I can't give it a full 5 star because I was not able to finish it and I also read it in the raw version so some parts are slightly confusing. I also want to drop it long ago but the part on this sypnosis where the war was put to stop when he published the hiatus on the live stream due to affected by war, and the part where he and Anushka will finally meet makes me keep going.

It what's keeping me from reading it... I... more>> reached it last night. It is satisfying, but seeing that I'm only half way through the story and I've been reading this for so long (I'm a slow reader now due limited free time) so now I want another fresh novel/genre. And Gobeliel (Gabriel) annoys me so much, another reason for dropping lol.

Honestly, this is actually a new style of novel for me. I've seen a lot of Zerg novel sypnosis that confused me, but because of this, I finally understand. Before I've seen lots of zerg novels sypnosis and I was confused when they talk about femal zerg and male zerg. Turns out, it's kinda the other way around. Female zergs are the earth's 'male' and vice versa.

I read the english translated version upto 26.2 chapter, the remaing chapter upto 131 was read at xiashubao's raw. I think I clicked the raw link on chrysanthemum novel. Might continue to read this again after trying other novels. It's not the novels fault that I'm dropping this, I just easily gets bored of all things in the world. I can't even finish a whole 2hrs movie. Don't make this a reason for not picking up the novel.

Spoiler

114 is the Wasp vs Hornet's war, the war where Fate was cut off the live broadcast due to internet jam. Around 120 is where Anushka and Fate (Shi Cunjin) finally met. They're pretty fast pace, at 120+ they're already kissing. Welp, ML is pretty sick in the head, which I think is normal for zergs. I'll try reading more english translated zerg novels to understand. 130 or 131, they're actually kissing... At 130, Valentine (VV) the original Male Zerg is finally 'awakened'. He respond to the Hakuna Matata...

Highly Recommended! (try waiting for the English translation tho).

So good. I don't usually like novels in the interstellar/zerg genre all that much, half because the typical setup is all about brainless face slapping, stereotypical romance between cardboard characters and maybe just an ounce of interesting conflict or background settings. It's a pity because far future stories have so much room for imagination and yet most stories in this genre don't do anything with it.

This is not one of those novels. The author put a handful of typical cliches for the system and interstellar genres in a pot and... more>> broke them the f*ck down, seasoning with high enough stakes that the MC's golden finger feels like it's barely enough to keep him treading water. The side dishes---setting, side characters, backstory---are all handled with care. There's some small issues and some definite rule of cool hand waving going on, but none of it enough to detract from a solid, carefully crafted story.

I highly recommend waiting for the quite well done translation to be finished, because though MTL-ing the story got me enough clarity to keep going, I know I probably missed a boatload of side jokes and references that would just have made it even better. <<less

The best novel I read this year. The author uses the "transmigrated into a novel" trope to create a sci-fi world setting with advanced technology, alien beast tides that threaten civilization, and a Protagonist who is thrown into an alien civilization that is highly dangerous for a human being. Human thinking and morality don't apply here and will get him killed.

I admire the author for creating well-rounded characters, even the supporting cast have their family history and background. Don't be quick to judge as a reader because the further along... more>> you read, the more you discover a character is not as good or evil as you think.

Main CP is perfect for each other. Anushka's courage and unstoppable force meets Shi Cun Jin's cunning mind and decisive methods.

PS: as a Zerg fan, I get tired of the usual meaningless s*x and weird ABO takes in this sub-genre. It's refreshing to see someone write a serious interstellar novel with Zergs. <<less
