I am an R card in a card collection game.

This game takes place in a Western fantasy setting with three factions to choose from: the Church of Light, the Church of Darkness, and the Free Alliance. Of course, to ensure everyone occasionally bands together in harmony, there’s a common enemy called “Monsters”—just like every game with a traditional setup. As the “Chosen One” the player starts off by waking up with amnesia on the outskirts of a town, where a kind-hearted Holy Knight finds them while out on a mission, triggering the first beginner’s quest.

Yes, I am that kind-hearted Holy Knight.

To be precise, I am the game’s beginner guide. My sole purpose is to help players pick a username and activate the battle panel.

… At least, that’s how it was supposed to be.

However, on the first day of the server launch, something unexpected happened. Due to a slip of the programmer’s hand, I accidentally upgraded from an R card to an SSR card. By the time the developers realized, the news about starting the game with a free SSR card had already spread. At this point, telling the players it was just a bug…

“We’d definitely get killed.” sighed the developer as they patted me on the shoulder. “We held an emergency meeting and decided to just roll with it. So—congratulations, you’re now the [SSR Holy Knight Captain] !”

Me: “…”

And just like that, I was forced to become a real SSR card.

Thought it was focused on player, knight and the leveling up of chara, instead it has a diff plot from the synopsis. Some spoilers below.

Our MC is a knight from light faction. He thought he was a game character. He didn't know his character setting; he can only see his past story by installing the packs and playing them. But he seemed to remember things not mentioned in the story line game packs. It is not explained even until the current ch I am reading (extra 3), if this is just a game with players. I think there is no player to begin with

God of light said that he made a human container for himself, ie Luke. So I guess it is implied here that he is not a player. I'm wondering who was he developer of the game and the who was talking to the knight at ch1

Our MC has really the characteristics of a knight, naive and chivalrous. Reading the story, the MC can have too many CP from male to female charas. But in the extra, there's more of a CP between him and the pope of the light.

There may be a some lapses due to the limited ch's. But the author made this free in jj lit (jjwc), so let's just appreciate the free story.

Really fun for a short story. I think the author managed to flesh out the characters well despite the short length. The MC's personality is pretty amusing, and his relationships with the side characters are great. The novel is a bit silly most of the time, but there are also serious moments that hit hard.

Any romance was in the extras iirc.

My biggest complaint is how the game aspect of the novel was never explained. It was fun while it lasted though.

This is a great story to read for fun and for relaxing. There's a lot of action and drama, but it's all lighthearted, and I love how all the characters are so zen, not in the 'all their personalities are peaceful and calm' way, but how even if they have grudges, they don't hold them for long (at least not in the chapters). There isn't much scheming, and even the final boss is upfront. Additionally, the MC is incredibly cute, the characters are all appropriately fleshed out and full of... more>> life, and the plot is engaging. The extras are also among the best I've ever read. Definitely worth reading. <<less

This fun little story about fate and kindness. MC have fate in his God and others. MC try to show his kindness by helping and changing. I like the MC, he simply and good.

The others characters is good. The story show how the characters known the MC and show the relationships between them and the MC.

This World building is good. Some my questions was answered and some was not.

Romance take the backseat in this story

the game thing kind of fallen off about ch.18. Luke is the light God and player. I don't know read about a game within game account or by end this "real" world. *I think both are true to me

6/5. Sixth star due to sheer entertainment.

Summary thoughts: some translation typos within acceptable range. Rollicking plot and pace. MC Alvin is so cute in main and extras. Some blatant unresolved plot but this is so fun to read.

Aww (^v^) The start is awesome straight into the story and captures the MC well, and the sidekicks.

The described game sounds interesting - is it a real game? Is there an rl equivalent?

C2 - ah, sometimes irl I resemble the MC; "This situation is too complicated for my measly 1 point of Intelligence to handle... ".

The inline plot is convoluted. It doesn't purport to be clever. It does diss the devs creativity quite believably. Unreliable narrator always a good follow.

C27! Great Scott! Turn around!

Extra 1 is very funny. Please read after finishing Main story.

What-ifs. Extra 2, 3 also funny. I actually read the character summaries in Back to main timeline. Extra 4, 5 bc the chars are all so loveable (except bad guys).

Oh ho! Extra 5 is adorable o (*v*) o

Extra 6 is entertaining.

Asa really comes alive in this one. <<less
