Li Heng had a dream.

In the dream, he was taken back by his wealthy biological parents, and he had two older brothers. However, neither his parents nor his brothers liked him. They despised him, thinking he was unpresentable, yet they showered the fake young master they adopted with all their love.

The fake young master was deceitful and sinister, pretending to be kind to him on the surface, while secretly slandering him to others and framing him in various ways. Eventually, due to the fake young master’s schemes, he was kicked out of the house, blacklisted online, and died in a daily rental room at a construction site.

The day after he had this dream, a luxury car stopped in front of the house he was renting.

Li Heng: !!!

Brought back to the family, he officially met the sinister and malicious fake young master, Xie Duzhi.

Xie Duzhi pulled him aside.

This was the scene from the beginning of the dream, where Xie Duzhi was “pushed down” by him, just in time to be seen by the butler!

Li Heng’s pupils shrank.

However, not only did Xie Duzhi not fall, but he also threw a black card at him.

He told him to spend it all in three days.

Did I get the wrong script?

Just after being recognized by the Xie family—

Li Heng (relieved): So this is what kind of parents and brothers you are.

After some time being with the Xie family—

Li Heng (conflicted): So this is what kind of person you are, Xie Duzhi.

Xie Duzhi: ……

Obedient and earnest, thinks he’s hated by everyone, but is actually the beloved real young master who charms everyone (bottom) x Cold and two-faced, accidentally breaks the original script, adheres strictly to traditional male virtues (top).

the top has transmigrated, the bottom is a bit insecure at the start, and there’s no blood relation or ethical conflict between them, they were already off the same household registry when they met (important).

A daily dose of cute, sweet fluff; the story is mainly focused on familial love in the early stages. The parents, brothers, and top are all lovable. It’s a story of a bottom who thinks he’s the despised character in an angst novel but is actually the beloved and doted-on protagonist in a sweet, pampered one. The bottom has a tiny bit of a charm-the-crowd attribute. The fake young master from the dream also likes him^ ^

**Note:** The fake young master in the dream (aka Bai Ruan) is physically and mentally ill and a bit of a psychopath.

It's truly Familial theme so far. Though most interaction so far was MC with ML, his second brother, and the mother. Anyway their growing relationship is smooth and nicely done.

But maybe that's because we barely see the villain? 🤔 Anyway the Xie Family is actually really nice, and it makes me wonder what kind of Evil Manipulation that the Villain did in 'the dream' that able to brainwash the family to believe that our MC was evil.

The author did mentioned in note that it may an explaination later, but so far... more>> it was still mystery.

I just pray the rest of the story would be clear and Satisfying till the end! 🙏🙏🙏 Updated at 28 November 2024:

I Love the Brotherhood moments. The ch68 conversation between the brothers are just Fun to read! Lol 😆👌 <<less

I'm sorry, but above MC being insecure, he just lacks brain cells. His train of thoughts is literally half a brain cell fighting for survival. It's not even that he's dense, he genuinely lacks an ability to think like a normal person. If a novel is focused on fluff, I usually don't mind MC being a little dense, but it's just extreme here. Moreover, he doesn't act cute or funny to compensate. I appreciate the translation and I stuck around because I like the fluff, but I really can't stand... more>> him. I don't want other people to get discouraged from reading this novel though. <<less

This novel has it's good points; fun dynamics between family and friends, slice of life and all that jazz. The brotherhood is good fun, though it could use some more "screen-time", as I feel the oldest brother got sidelined for the romance plot. The family fluff is also quite heartwarming, and there are animals! Though not a main focus. The minor friend-plots are also very enjoyable! These are main the reasons I stuck around for 90+ chapters, but since around c70, the negative (in my opinion) aspects seemed to overtake... more>> the focus of the story.

I agree with saying that the main character has only half a brain cell. He's essentially a lump of wood, which can be fine in slice of life situations, but the moment he faces any scenario/conflict, he simply rolls over and takes it, despite what his internal monologue likes to say. You'd think with his situation/backstory, he'd know danger when it stares him in the face, but apparently not

Spoiler

"He ruined my previous life by being manipulative and very good at acting, but in this life, where he's been manipulative and is also a very good actor, and used schemes to cause me negative outcomes, there's no way he's the same as before! He could be a kind soul for all I know, it's not like that's the exact persona he had in my previously ruined life, of which he is the culprit of. Oh, but I know that he's bad, but it's not like I'll do anything about it and whenever he appears in front of me, I'll always give him the benefit of the doubt! He might be bad, but maybe he's not that bad?" (paraphrasing)

I want to tear my hair out.

Aside from the overarching main plot, I really enjoyed the novel. To me, it feels like there is a dissonance between the character the author wrote and the plot that the author wishes to write. The chapters focusing on the "villain" are quite long-winded and monologue-y, and through my brief glance skipping through the climax, it's somewhat nuanced and, in another context, may actually make for a great development. But, here, it's a little meh, and really sapped the interest I had for this novel. The foreshadowing is okay? You can predict the plot developments from a mile away. I just found it a little too predictable, enough to make the MC seem way more incompetent than he might actually be.

I really wanted to like this novel, although a little boorish in moments, with some work, it could have been an enjoyable experience. It does feel a little lost at times, with no concrete direction for the plot to go. No comments on the romance as it was One of The Romances in Time. Nothing to write home about.

This main character has just infuriated me to levels I've never felt before, so I feel compelled to write a review for it. It's a novel that isn't horrible enough to wrap around to being good, nor is it a novel that I can just suspend my disbelief in.

Like the previous reviewer, I don't want to dissuade anyone from reading this as; if you have a stronger (novel) stomach than mine, and can truly lift your disbelief beyond heights I can't comprehend, then you may find this novels quite good. I kid, if you can stomach the exaggerated negatives I've listed, then I'm sure you'll find the novel a decent read, not ground breaking, but it might scratch that family/brotherhood/slice of life itch.

Thank you Li Heng for making me so irrationally angry I felt I needed to write my first review. Also the first time I've actively sworn whilst reading.

My rating for the story without the main plot:
