This novel feels like those classic reincarnation stories. The good ones where the main character reincarnates as a powerful beings and travels around the world while experiencing their culture and making some friends and subordinates. There are some good fights and worldbuilding along with a likeable cast of characters. Its fun, nostalgic and a good read overall.

This novel is not bad, but it tries to do too much and falls flat on most concepts. Basically it’s about a guy that gets isekai’ed into his game character that chose beauty over power (I’ve never heard of a game that allows that, but let’s just suspend our belief). She is “weak”, but gets misunderstood as really strong because of the weird traits her character has, especially one that forces her to act arrogant.

The reason why this novel falls apart is because the MC is supposed to be a... more>> long time veteran that knows the ins and outs of the game, but doesn’t act like it. Instead of being proactive, things just kind of happen around her and she reacts to it. She seems to get caught off guard by events she knew would happen, which is strange and off putting. <<less

I've enjoyed this novel the most up until around chapter 23. For some reason the MC starts to act in clichés, and gets pushed around by others I think they would realistically have no issues against out of nowhere for the sake of plot progression. It was just way too forced in my opinion.

I actually felt the MC's actions have been perfectly in-line with their character before this chapter, so I don't have much else to complain about. I'm still enjoying the story, especially because the setting is a bit... more>> different, so I'm still rating as a 5 for now. Although I hope the author doesn't force the plot more in the future. <<less

Its fine. It has an interesting premise. A MC that made a character, a Snow Maiden just for apperances not built to properly beat the game used a mythical item to end the final boss before the release of a sequel, was given a ? grade item as loot, something he had never seen before.

It said something about equivelant exchange with no proper explanation, and with seasonal items not being transferred over, he decided to use it on his character, Quelliere. It.. seemingly did nothing. But around 5 minutes before... more>> the release, he thought over what he had done when playing the game. He had made two other secondary characters in this role-making game. A lonely vampire, and a taciturn Black Knight, the lone warrior... so he says.

As the timer ran out, he clicked to start the new game. A window popped up to confirm if he would like to sync the data of his gameplay. And he said yes. So..

...

Without any rhyme or reason, he, now she found herself as Quelliere. In a castle of snow, within a snowfield.

I liked the novel. I certainly did. But like the other reviewer said, she.. doesn't really act like a veteran of the game? Maybe this will be explained later by parts of his personality and experiences or whatnot being spread across the three characters including Quelliere. For now, im taking a star off. <<less

So far it's okay? I'm pretty early in, but already a couple things. Like another comment mentioned, the MC really doesn't act like a veteran of this world. Also the MC, despite not REALLY knowing how to use her magic, decides to travel to a different country... Like why? There are no pressing issues, there is no real reason to travel other than a whim and information. Both of which could wait until she knew how to control her magic.

Update 1:

Spoiler

So she sold an EVENT LIMITED item, that she only has ONE of, to a random merchant for some maps. Which given the merchants obvious reaction, it makes 0 sense logically. Yes it's a useless object to her, but it is ONE OF A KIND.

Also, you can't control your magic, yet you one shot the snakes instantly, but it's not cold enough to be dangerous for humans? I guess because snakes are cold blooded? Still seems like a hand wave explanation of something that should be common sense to consider.

[collapse]

"I prided myself on being a clever and resourceful veteran, and yet I was this pathetic."

Even the author knows they aren't characterizing the MC very well. Will continue to update as story progresses. Currently the story is looking like it's about to take a nosedive, but it's early, so I'll keep going in hopes it gets better.

Edit: not 3 chapters later and I get my most HATED cliche
Spoiler

"I felt like I had heard about it before.

How strange. How could I know about a relic from such an ancient era?

Perhaps I had stumbled across the information while investigating some historical figure.

Whatever the case, it didn't feel particularly dangerous, so it probably didn't matter."

[collapse]

Behold. The dumbest way to kill any sort of idea, that the MC is smart. With that alone, I'm dropping this novel. If you have THOUSANDS of hours of in game experience, and you get a gut feeling something is wrong? Or that you're forgetting something? You would STEW on it until you figured it out. But nope, not THIS MC, probably just the wind.

Hands down one of the best novels I've read. All the way from the basic setup to the ending, it had an incredibly enticing atmosphere about it. The main character, whose name I will never be able to spell for the life of me, is such an interesting and multifaceted character that it's hard to actually describe her in text and actually do her justice. Nonetheless, I'll try to describe it as best I can. Quelliere, our protagonist, has got two separate sides to her, one that perfectly embodies winters... more>> coldness, and one that perfectly embodies snows softness. She's blunt, and seems bitter, yet cares deeply enough about everything to put as much effort in to protect what's around her as she can, even if she grumbles while doing it. Both sides complement one another so well that she easily becomes an incredibly charming character you can't help but to want to read more about.

The side characters too were all incredibly vibrant. From the White Dragon to the very diverse characters Quelliere (our protagonist, hope I'm spelling it right lmao) meets while traveling, having mini arcs with only for them to reappear later, all have their own unique and interesting quirks without being overbearing, and the way their relationship with Quelliere develops is genuinely so sweet. I adore watching them all care for and positively change one another in their own ways. I'm certain I could read entire side series about the side characters alone and still be absolutely enthralled.

The plot, too, was very concise. It never felt like it had any unnecessary bulk added on, with everything connecting and building up in a very put together way that eventually culminates into something better. There didn't seem to be much "growth" from the characters from a strength standpoint, but rather them using everything they already had to the utmost to beat foes that were, honestly, far too strong for them at times. Our protagonist had to use her brain quite a bit, or occasionally rely on pure luck (which didn't always work) to get through. And the resources that weren't used for our characters growth in strength was instead used for their growth as people, creating incredible character arcs for everyone. The only thing I find (very regrettably) lacking is the ending; it was very, very abrupt. I wanted a few more heartfelt moments, and answers to questions that hadn't yet been answered. However... with the way the author left it, I could see some potential after stories being made in the future, should they feel inclined. Though they're in the military now, so it won't be immediately possible.

Overall, genuinely incredible story to read; this is one of the only novels out of hundreds I've read all the way through and felt satisfied with (though I'm really trying to get through some other ones, only thing really holding me back is translation). I hope anyone who reads my gives this novel at least a try, as it definitely deserves it. <<less
