Cheng Wanyun died suddenly. After traveling to the past, she barely enjoyed any good days before being labeled as a low-ranking concubine in the Yuqing Palace.

Cheng Wanyun: “…”

Everyone knows that the life of Yinreng ends in misery. But now, Yinreng is still a young man, only fifteen years old—handsome, bright, gentle, and proud of himself.

Cheng Wanyun calculated and found that there were at least twenty more years before Yinreng would be imprisoned and die.

So… she decided to lie down for now. If it’s a waste, then so be it. Anyway, she wasn’t going to move.

Let them imprison him, what’s the difference where she lies down?

Others were busy vying for favor, dancing in the garden in winter wearing thin silk. Cheng Wanyun was curled up by the stove, watching the snow while nibbling on delicious roast duck.

Others were busy scheming for power, secretly sowing discord to incite punishment in the palace. Cheng Wanyun was raising her child, taking care of cats and dogs.

Others were busy forming factions, with the First Consort and Second Consort standing in opposition. Cheng Wanyun was sipping on milk tea, playing cards: “Boom!”

She had unknowingly reached the forty-seventh year of Kangxi’s reign and finally wondered: Why hadn’t she been discarded yet?

After Yinreng accepted Cheng Gege (Low-ranking concubine) as his concubine, he slept with her, occasionally having strange dreams, all of which came true. Over time, he remembered more and more. It turned out those were his past life memories—conflict with his father, infighting with his brothers, the early death of a younger brother, his eventual downfall, and his death in isolation.

Despite his fragmented memories, he cautiously navigated every step, walking on thin ice. Meanwhile, Cheng Gege… slept soundly without a care.

Yinreng: So angry.

But he still gently lowered his head and tucked the blanket around her.

Perhaps the divine heavens knew his path would be full of hardship, so they blessed him with a small lucky star. He was bloodied, wielding a sword through the battlefield, while she was his peaceful haven, his paradise.

It's easy to read, but the story jumps back and forth in time without any warning. Concubine has died. Next chapter, same concubine is desperately writing letters. Then she is sick. Then she died. She died twice. This same thing happened several times. Something surprising happens, then the author goes back in time to describe how it happened. The author doesn't say we're going back in time, and also doesn't say when we're caught up with the present. You've got to give it your best guess and figure out the... more>> constantly looping timeline on your own. It's annoying. But the story is fun to read. <<less

I enjoyed this novel very much. FL & ML are aware of their own relationship because of their status, responsibility and what needs to be done. Yes ML does have concubines after all he’s a crown prince, can’t reject his father cuz he’s the king after all. There’s a lot of conspiracy, traps, palace fights & etc but our FL isn’t involved much because of her status and she just wants to live a good salted fish life. Sleep, eat, take care of her pets, enjoy the weather & etc.... more>> Now she’s not clueless, she’s no Mary sue, she used to work in her previous life so she knows what needs to be done and act in this dynasty. Now the ML is a green flag especially in the Qing Dynasty. He does the best he can to protect our FL and their lives from ongoing court fights and he adores our FL. I won’t say much to not spoil it, but this novel made me cry several times from how much I relate some feeling between the king (ML father) & the ml, then some other sentimental parts in the novel. Anyway I’m glad there’s extras!! I enjoyed the extras a lot. It gave me a sweet warm feeling. I recommend!! <<less

I enjoyed this overall. I really like the MC and her relationship with the ML. Both MC and ML are aware of what it means for their relationship that the ML is Crown Prince (i.e. ML has multiple concubines)

Curious to see where this story goes but a very promising start!
