He finds himself forming an uneasy alliance with a mysterious agent from the Fu Mo Si, a government agency dedicated to suppressing the paranormal, and facing off against a variety of colorful characters, both human and otherwise.

Along the way, Xiang Jiannan grapples with the meaning of cultivation, the effectiveness of his master’s questionable methods, and the very nature of good and evil. His journey is a blend of comedic mishaps, genuine moments of terror, and a deep dive into a world where the line between the mundane and the magical is constantly blurred. He’ll be forced to question everything he thought he knew about Taoism, about his master, and even about himself. And through it all, he must learn to trust his instincts, even if they lead him down the most unexpected, and often hilarious, paths.
