Some of these I read several times because even though I don't like tragic plots, sometimes I like a story with heartbreak... I removed the action and adventure titles and put them in my Action BL rec list instead.

Modern settings only. Includes shounen ai, yaoi, and BL with smut. Too many titles to sort in order of personal preference, so I sorted them alphabetically.

I tried my best to leave some trigger warnings on this list where I think some readers might find objectionable content (there seems to be more of that in dramatic and action oriented novels). There isn't an ML or MC who was ab*sed that got revenge "all according to plan" with no mental issues (basically the MC or ML pays a price from the beginning and only gets their just rewards after fighting tooth and nail for it). There is fluff but its an angsty fluff and a oof-ouch-pain feeling when they need to support each other. <<less

- MC's sibling usually has some sort of protagonist halo that causes their parents and those around to act as though their braincells are off line
