Famous author Xu Yeyu has been in a creative slump for the past two years. She hasn’t been able to write a full-length novel ever since an incident at her family’s vineyard — a day when her cousin, also a writer, suffered a worsening of his depression after a mysterious event involving her.

Her aunt accused her of jealousy and deliberately triggering the breakdown. But Xu Yeyu had been drunk that day and couldn’t remember a thing.
To clear her name and find writing inspiration, she moves to L City. Hoping to help her cousin and write a novel about psychology to raise awareness about depression, she begins auditing evening lectures taught by renowned psychology professor Lu Yanbai.
By accident, she impersonates someone else and gets randomly called on in class — and so begins their comedic, tender “make-up lesson” journey.
Through shared misunderstandings, late-night writing, and unexpected sparks, romance begins to blossom. Eventually, Lu Yanbai discovers she’s not really his student, but by then… he already likes her.

At first, Xu Yeyu attended Professor Lu Yanbai’s evening lecture as an observer. She noticed her friend eating an apple during class.
Her professional instincts kicked in: “According to the rules of novels, when the professor notices you, he’ll first scan you up and down with his beautiful eyes, then call out your name in a sexy, low voice, and finally say, ‘Come to my office after class.’”
Friend: “What will it take for you to shut up?”
Xu Yeyu: “I just want a bite.”
As she took her first bite of the apple, Lu Yanbai appeared next to her.
His deep, captivating peach-blossom eyes swept over her notebook.
“Xu Yeyu?” The man spoke her name in a low, husky voice, tapping his fingers on her desk. With a cold tone, he said, “Come to my office after class.”
Xu Yeyu: ……
Later, Xu Yeyu went to her boyfriend’s class to write a novel.
Her friend asked, “Your Professor Lu is such a cultured rogue—don’t you want to write something about him?”
Outside the window, the night was thick, and the moon hung low on the branches.
Xu Yeyu thought it was a good idea, inspiration flowing like a fountain. After writing a thousand words, she went to the restroom. When she returned, she found that someone had already finished reading those thousand words. His dark eyes were unreadable.
Finally, the man calmly, yet with hidden turbulence, said in a serious tone: “… Come to my office after class.”
