After struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland for over a decade, Song Wei finally dies. Her only regret is never having a full stomach. When she opens her eyes again, she became an educated youth who went to the countryside in Northeast China.

Bad news: Her new identity is a frail beauty—a “vase” type who’s all looks and a hopeless romantic.

Good news: Everything around her is normal. No radiation, no mutated creatures. She’s in a rural village by the mountains, brimming with wild resources. Finally, she can eat to her heart’s content!

Before long, the once-helpless Song Wei, who couldn’t lift a finger, turns into a fierce villager who can throw punches at wild boars, carry logs on her shoulder, chase off local bullies, and stand her ground against any nosy aunties in the village.

Villagers in Ping’an Commune: “Don’t Provoke Comrade Song. She’s no pushover!”

Song Wei, meanwhile, just wants to enjoy the countryside. When she isn’t working, she’s foraging in the mountains, stocking up on food, and sharing gossip with the local aunties. She’s reasonable… mostly.

Then, unexpectedly, she adopts a poor, scruffy little kid nobody wants. But what about this tall, rough guy with eight-pack abs who returned to the village after retiring from the army?

Why did he follow her? Oh, it turned out to be the kid’s brother.

Song Wei holds up the chubby, well-fed child she’s been raising. “Here, take your brother.”

The child wails, clinging to her. “I don’t want my brother; I want my sister!”

The man ignores his little brother, gazing intently at her. “I don’t have a home.”

Song Wei: “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Man: “You’re already taking care of my little brother… would it be too much trouble to take me in too? I’m strong, you know.”

Song Wei: “…Are you two just trying to mooch off me?”

Pretty normal rebirth situation - you'll hate ML’s family, though.

oh, and I’ve never heard of anyone raising a deer during times of food shortage. That was one of a bunch of silly plot points.

Plotwise it's good but it's too messy, Mtl is also hard to read and understand. There's so much going on, it's like everyone's hungry and desperate to sell their body, reputation and moral kidnapping for a bit of meat. I'm not sure what message the author wants to imply about these "educated" youth fighting for food, meals, material, they use moral kidnapping wantonly, argue about senseless things, everyone is always so concerned about who they marry or hook up with, glorifying ab*se in the name of filial pretty, it's... more>> like everyone is brainless despite being educated, like is the author even aware how this sound like? Unless she's writing she's a comedy or parody these educated youth and village team all seem like hypocrites, thug or thieves but even thieves follow a code these educated youth and villaged only follow a brainless author.

The only saving grace of this novel is the FMC-I like her personality and characterization, and her younger brother. Male lead is useless. It's exhausting to live with this kind of environment everyday they fight for food, snatch food, f*ck someone for food and material, betray someone, everyone has a mentality of a crab. If you want to read brainless villains with lame arguments that enable them to take advantage of everyone and argues that everyone should let them be taken advantage off then read this. Also they're like c*ckroaches they keep crawling back. <<less

A simple enjoyable slice of life read.

FL has a super strength power from her apocalypse world, so she get by safely and comfortably in the countryside.

I love how the FL is content living a country life, where she can hunt and farm. ML is ambitious but it's all for his beloved family's comfort and needs.

Spoiler

Based on the synopsis given, I was expecting drama in their romance, which is a bit concerning for me. But nope. Their romance is so straighforward and simple, you couldn't get any straighter (it honestly left me bewildered for awhile) .

[collapse]

Spoiler

The unique thing in this story is how they interacted with and raised many wild animals. And in many places at that.

They themselves live near mountains and forests; they went to the beach in an island where the FL's brother was stationed at; they also went to the grassland and prairie where the FL's uncle was sent down to reform.

There are dramas and melons, but not so much at the end of the story. There isn't much political or power struggle in the story (the author just doesn't say much of it; such as how they interact most with the captain & his family etc.).

The leads actually win a lot of fights and arguments with sheer brute force (and sometimes with sharp tounge and cheeks) . And this was satisfying in itself.

A recommended story for all to enjoy! 🪸

This novel is another take on the educated youth being sent down to the countryside.

I’ve read so many of these types of novels since they lean more towards slice of life. Our MC is one of the more unique female protagonists I’ve come across in this genre. She doesn’t know how to cook, she’s not delicate or needing protection she’s a BADASS through and through.

I’m enjoying this novel because our FL not only can verbally destroy someone if that doesn’t work well she can back it up with her fists... more>> too.

I especially love the interaction between her and Heidan.

The ML has only entered and though he’s ruthless with everyone else (besides his brother) he’s a golden retriever when it comes to her and maybe that’s because she’s stronger than him. He doesn’t frighten her and her strength doesn’t intimidate him.

Looking forward to reading more chapters! <<less

First, I wrote this using Google Translate, so please ignore the grammar.

If you like strong FLs who hate being bullied, this story is perfect. After being reborn, FL immediately clears the original owner's reputation. FL also kicks out the bastard who tricked her, though it wasn't very satisfying for me.

Actually, all the revenge in this story wasn't very satisfying for me. I felt anticlimactic when FL fought the people who bullied her. The only satisfying part was ML's revenge for his family, and even that was a bit lacking for... more>> me. Don't even ask about revenge for FL's family; it was very, very unsatisfying. So if you're reading this story for the face-slapping scenes, you should lower your expectations.

The FL and ml's love story isn't that prominent. It only takes a while for the ML to fall in love, and the FL accepts it after some effort. It's not that FL falls in love easily, but their romance is just so-so. There are more scenes of FL eating melon than scenes of her making out with the ML haha. Honestly, I prefer the fl's interactions with the ml's younger brother before the ml's arrival because after the ml's arrival, I feel like the ml's younger brother becomes less visible, even though I thought he would play an important role in the FL and ml's relationship considering the synopsis of this story.

The fl's relationship with the other educated youth is also mediocre, especially after meeting the fl. The FL does help a young educated youth fight domestic violence, but it's not highlighted.

Spoiler

I'm annoyed with the new educated youth. According to him, he entered the novel and the ML (FL) from the novel he read went to the village, but when he arrived, they weren't there. At first, he was shocked, but then he thought positively that his arrival would have a butterfly effect. But after seeing the educated youth who our FL helped was still alive, he was a little shocked. The woman should have died because our FL wasn't there. Then he met ml's sister and ended up very confused and panicked, because according to the novel, ml's sister should have died, and our ML would become the biggest villain in the book to take revenge and ultimately be retaliated against by ML and FL from the novel he read. (Sorry if it's confusing)

I thought this NPC would be an important role, especially since he thought he was the son of God, but it turned out he was just a fool. He teased ML and felt that only ML was worthy of being the son of God because ML would be rich in the future. He teased her even though he had been beaten by fl. In the end, he worked with spies and was captured. It was so s*upid that I was annoyed reading it because my expectations were too high. (Btw this new educated youth is a woman, I saw the translation changed it to a man but I'm too lazy to edit it)

[collapse]

Overall, this novel is good. If you're looking to read something enjoyable but still has a few issues here and there but not too annoying, this story is perfect. But if you're looking to read something where FL and ML fight people all the time, I don't think this story is suitable. <<less
