As the boss of Deshang High School, Mu Qi is not afraid of anyone.

However, ever since a new transfer student entered her class, she feels her statement might be wrong….

The transfer student tearfully says, “Mu Qi, you stepped on my foot.”

Mu Qi “…” (It was obviously you who stretched it out yourself)

The transfer student says in an aggrieved tone: “My mother told me that it isn’t good for girls to smoke.”

Mu Qi: “…..”

So fake, is this transfer student a little ill in the head?

Underling: Boss, do you fancy your deskmate? Every day you bully her and look, you bullied that bookworm so much and now she’s crying.

Mu Qi: “I’m the one who feels like crying!”

Cute, short, and alright. Honestly I'd give it a 3.5 if we could do half-stars, but since we can't I rounded up to 4, because rounding down to 3 would be a disservice to it.

The story isn't bad, all the ideas are there and it all sort of comes together just fine, but there are a couple of unresolved plot hooks and the cause of the main conflict in the story is sort-of out of left field. This is a good way to kill an hour but not something you'd... more>> really remember a week from now. <<less

5/10 (Average, not particularly bad or good)

Review:

It's kind of putting it nicely to say but it's also just accurate to say that this is largely a very straightforward work. Don't expect many twists and turns or to actively feel much emotional turmoil even when the characters are going through rough times; emotional turmoil is generally brief and/or described in a fairly low-key way. However, the author does fall into the traps of having a rough ending arc and a very underutilized side plot to the point where its inclusion... more>> feels odd.
Spoiler

Generally arcs feel a little bit underutilized. Some are fine as just background detail without really being resolved (Mu Qi's home situation is fine as background for example, it's not something that can be really 'solved' and Mu Qi moving out of the shadow of it is the focus). Similarly it's not a bad thing for plots to not revolve around heavy emotional drama necessarily, but be aware that this is overall a very lighthearted text.

Similar but not quite the same is that the work glosses over some plot points that you'd generally expect to get at least a little focus. For example, Su Yanxi coming out being a minor thing and parents not minding is perfectly fine, but it's never actually mentioned until Su Yanxi's mom says that at some point Su Yanxi came out. It's not a big deal, but not actively showing moments like this occasionally does detach the viewer from the work.

The final ending arc kind of doesn't really match the tone/feeling of the rest of the work. Qin Yu is in general a rather flat character even compared to the rest of the straightforward work, and very much is just a cartoon villain with weak motivations and frankly low intelligence. I didn't mind the fact that it was resolved easily though, as Qin Yu's plot was very weak and Mu Qi plowing through it with little effort matches with what I'd expect from the tone, characters, and plot.

Another issue is that the ending arc is intrinsically connected to the Hu Ying/Qi Wei subplot, which is generally rather underdeveloped and rushed. While they got a few early scenes showing their relationship, the process of them getting together really was done in basically two chapters at the very end, and the bulk of the romance part of the relationship really was condensed to the last fourth or so of the book.
The ending blurb part was somewhat unusual; it's basically using four sentences to briefly describe what a longer book might put into extra chapters. This would be fine and not worth mentioning if not for the hilarious last sentence of the book, which casually mentions that Hu Ying and Qi Wei broke up then got together again out of absolutely nowhere with 0 extra context. It honestly comes off as a punchline more than anything.
