An okay story, with a not-so-okay translator.

If you are able to experience this story directly from the source, I would recommend that you do so. If you can't, then let me describe what you will have to put up with:

  • Inconsistent Pronouns (the classic TL error, and annoyingly moreso here because the pronouns are already uncommon)
  • Inconsistent names/terms, especially for those "Star [x]" things. By FAR the most frequent error in the releases. Please maintain a terms sheet.
  • Unable to count English words (ex. "No one can say anything"... those four words...)
  • Entire texts being removed near the end of the chapter
  • Entire texts *repeating* near the end of the chapter
and probably a few more that I'm not remembering. Overall you do get a mostly readable narrative, in the same way that a... more>> cold pizza could be described as "mostly edible". Those small mistakes are not enough for me to complain on their own, but over time it makes for a frustrating reading experience. It doesn't help that their site reminds me of Kari Studio's, whose translation offenses are just as bad at the best of times, but I'll save that rant for a novel that they handle.

So say you are able to read the raw text, or you are willing to put up with "cold pizza"-tier translations. What can you expect out of the story?

A pretty steady story of growth. Like a tree, if you will. I wouldn't say I'm impressed by the developments, but I am still somewhat immersed despite all the translation mistakes that take me out of it.

The MC reincarnates in a new world, gets told by a system that she only has a day to live and only harvesting plants can save her. She pulls at weeds and grass, but each one only grants her 1 second of life. She scrambles to find some kind of plant rich enough to save her until she stumbles upon a big mutant tree that blocks a part of the road. She grabs an axe and spends hours of her slowly dwindling time chopping away at it and she finally does it. The system awards her with 10 years of life that she can then spend to improve her condition.

That is roughly the first chapter. It has an interesting mechanic with that life investment system. (it's called something fancy in the novel, I can't remember. Besides, the TL would invent new names for it every time it came up anyway). It's neat that her own lifespan is what she spends on skills and cultivation stuff but when she earns it back so easily, it's basically money. She will probably never be put in that same intense situation where her life reduced to just a day again.

It's just not that kinda story I guess. Pretty fluffy, you're just gonna be there mostly for the steady powerscaling and the occasional face slapping.

The setting is also kinda odd. It's modern day - people use cars and trains, money can be moved with a phone, there's internet forums, and the MC is supposedly in some version of China. But it also has some funny fantasy stuff like mutant plants, corrupted land, and that whole Star realm stuff.

Just kinda okay. Better if the TL got an editor or proofreader. Full stars just to bump the score a bit. <<less
