A Supporting Role’s Love Guide [Quick Transmigration]

Ruan Zhao was on the brink of death when he was bound to a quick transmigration system.

His task? Travel through different worlds, play a supporting character, and help the plot progress. Sometimes, that meant being the stepping stone for the protagonist’s rise to glory. But if he completed his tasks and racked up enough points, he could buy a resurrection ticket.

The system swore up and down that being a tool character was an easy and effortless job—under its guidance, he’d be done in no time.

Then, in the very first world, things went completely off track.

[World One]

The male lead was a true young master who had been swapped at birth—cold, distant, and impossible to befriend. Ruan Zhao was a privileged rich kid who couldn’t stand him and constantly picked on him.

System: While he’s still weak and vulnerable, you need to bully him, embarrass him, and make his life miserable… Then you can peacefully log out.

Ruan Zhao wasn’t used to bullying anyone. The meanest thing he could think of was making the protagonist do his homework, run errands, and eat his leftovers…

By the time the protagonist’s real identity was revealed, Ruan Zhao had already braced himself for revenge.

Yet, the protagonist casually grabbed Ruan Zhao’s test paper like always and started solving problems for him.

System & Ruan Zhao: …?

[World Two]

The male lead was a classic overpowered protagonist, and Ruan Zhao was the white moonlight of his youth—the one he cherished the most.

System: The first mission is too hard. Skip it.

Ruan Zhao, who had already exchanged love tokens with the protagonist: …?

System (laughing nervously): No worries! Now you just have to break his heart, humiliate him… Make him hate you enough to break up.

Ruan Zhao, who just threw a tantrum because the protagonist’s sword tassel wasn’t his favorite color: I’ve been acting like this, so why hasn’t he broken up with me yet?

[World Three]

The male lead was a vampire hunter, a renowned esper in human society. Ruan Zhao was a naive little vampire who had been spoiled since birth.

System: This mission is a piece of cake. Just sneak up on him at night, bite him, and deepen his hatred for vampires.

Ruan Zhao: Got it.

The next thing he knew, the protagonist was grabbing him by the back of the head, pressing him against his neck again. Ruan Zhao looked up in a daze, the taste of sweet blood lingering on his fangs… His mind completely blank.

Confused, he asked the system if the plot had gone off course again.

System (lighting a cigarette, utterly done with life): …Not a big deal.

(The worlds don’t follow a strict order. Just a little teaser!)

I am so upset!!!!!! With this novel. The first arc was so cute, fluffy and a nice read. The second arc, without being dramatic, broke my heart. I cant believe that the author made a charismatic ML that I liked, even more than the ML in the first arc, to then stab me in the back with this nonsense.

In an OO plotline that started out so good. Its so rare to find good OO novels, I know I've tried. Only for it to turn into a weird emotional cheating third wheel type situation with first arc ML. Like why?? I genuinely don't understand. My hopes were so high after that mixer party scene. The tension, the banter, the blushing. Making a connection. Only for them to come crashing down not even 5 chapters later. I'm so sad and over it. When will I find a normal OO novel that's cute without the weird over and undertones or random plotline.

[collapse]

Looking at the other reviews its not going to get any better so I'm stopping here. Qi Xingchen they did you dirty. I want justice for this imaginary character I've come to love. Words cannot describe how upset I am. I should've given this a lower rating. <<less

This looks interesting and as far as I've read I already love it. Thank you to the translator for picking this up

MC is so cute and the system has cat ears which was the only reason the MC picked it out of the others. MC already bullying the system to tears is too funny. Still getting to know the ml.

The translator uses ChatGPT making it jarring for me since I recognize the AI’s writing habits. Every time I read I feel like an AI proofreader with alarm bells ringing in my head. The language use overall is really stiff and formal. I feel a lot of words could’ve been replaced with simpler and more casual ones that would’ve conveyed the same sentiment but just with a more natural tone. I read the raw and this is just a bit disappointing in comparison. Listen if you don’t mind ChatGPT or... more>> overly formal language then the novel itself isn’t a bad read. I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from reading this or hate on the translator, this is just a little forewarning. If you like the synapsis and want to check it out, go for it! <<less

MC is frustratingly cute. He made mistakes but that's natural. It is frustrating but it's just how life us so ibhave no say in that.

MC is a tsundere type while ML is a quite gloomy type.

They both are good. I like the story. If I havnt listen my frind bathing for straight 2 hours I would have been on a better chpater.

The MC frund is also good. And I like they debate.

But I liked the MC and ML more.

I am soo sleepy.

I Mtl this because it seemed cute and it was cute all right

I would say this novel is good for when you want something fluffy to read. It didn’t really have much of a plot. It focused heavily on their romance (which after arc 1 is instant love at first sight) and the MC doesn’t really even complete his tasks (for example in one arc he had to break up with the ML, instead they just role played a bit and broke up for a second and then got back... more>> together lol) VERY drama free lmao

MC is your standard pretty and cute dude, he has a spoiled character with ML (bit of a tsundere) and his interactions with the system are adorable

ML is the indulgent type cold to others but warm with MC, he lets him get away with anything

Basically it’s just a cute story nothing that special and I honestly think the author was just doing whatever lol but I enjoyed it.

(it does have a scene where I was like 😬 it was the second arc where the MC was in heat and ML was undressing to you know and he was thinking if the MC was a minor cause if it was it would be a bit of a problem and checks his theeth to make sure or something like that I got a bit of a message that he would do it anyways if he was) nothing happened tho cause MC regains clarity btw this novel has no explicit scenes just kissing scenes with implications

translation is good btw <<less

(it's actually 3 stars)

Dropped on the third arc. It's an ok read—but I really hate how the story jump from one scene to another. It feels "unnatural" like something was cut out or it's missing some lines/scenes.

Big example of this is;

the last two chapters of arc 2. Like wdym he dreamt about his "boyfriend", saw arc 2 ML's face as the "bf" and he just roled with it. Last chap was even more confusing. They "callsex" and the next thing u knew they're actually f*cking for real. AND THAT'S HOW THEY END IT. No info about if arc 2 was a succeful one or not—so many plotholes

Arc 3

I don’t normally write reviews on novels and usually just drop them once I don’t like the way the plot is progressing but I couldn’t help but be disappointed in this one. The first world was nice, nothing too special but it was an enjoyable read; however, the second world just made me start doubting whether the author wanted to us to enjoy the novel anymore. I get that it was fake and the MC was just reminiscing about the ML in the previous world and he wasn’t actually ‘cheating’... more>> on the second world’s ML, plus the MC just wanted to do his tasks but reading about the mental turmoils the second world ML went through about him accepting that he’s the third party in a relationship, it being constantly reminded to the readers, just left a bitter taste in my mouth. It was a very disappointing read. <<less

Chapter 66, where I stopped reading, is the 8th chapter of the 3rd world and yet we haven't seen the system a single time... the MC has not mentioned his mission at all or any of the previous worlds.

I mean, this obviously is not a novel you read for the plot - from the very beginning, the whole world-hopping and mission system is only vaguely explained before moving on, and the MC's motivation for completing the missions is just never touched upon... like at all. not even a brief "I... more>> want to complete the mission to earn enough points to reincarnate." nope. in the first world, the MC has to basically bully and scorn the ML as his mission, but he never questions it? He just says "well it's the mission!" and does it anyway. Of course, this evolves into a very harmless "bullying" that's more like the flirting of a hardcore tsundere but... its just strange! like, some system is like "host you need to bully this person! stomp on their hand! torment them! verbally ab*se them! act like the worst white lotus!" and the MC is like "I dont like this but ok" like?!?

Not to mention, after the main couple get together at the end of each arc, the mission is considered complete and the arc just ends right there. unlike other QT I've read, there's not a single mention of each world's plot. The ML's "plotline" is sort of explained in the first arc, but in the second, only his background and current identity is explained, and nothing more. After they get together, there isn't any further explanation about their life after the mission is over. Not even if gay marriage is legal or not. What the MC decides to do with his life career-wise is also never mentioned.

Spoiler

And, again, in the third world, it's basically just a short story of their 3rd life together. 8-9 chapters in, and the system never appears. The MC never mentions his mission. He didn't transmigrated like the previous two worlds - he seems to have been born in it, growing up with no knowledge of his mission or previous lives. Its really weird. Not even a pretense at keeping up with the few scattered bones called "plot."

[collapse]

That being said! This novel does have some positives. For one, I really love the way the author writes their love story. In the first arc it was really endearing, and the second arc, despite the MC deciding to complete his mission of becoming a "stain" in the ML's reputation by forcing the ML to be the stand-in of his "ex-boyfriend" (the ML of the first world, who he doesn't remember well), it's still a really interesting story. There's just more angst and drama lol.

Also, I completely believe that all the suffering the ML goes through in the second arc is well-deserved for what he tried to pull at the very beginning of this arc, when the MC first transmigrated into that world.

the first two worlds are worth reading, even the second world because they're just very well-written.

The other positive point I want to mention!

Spoiler

the second world is a futuristic world with an ABO setting. surprisingly, both the MC and the ML are omegas, and it stays that way the whole arc. there's never a moment where the ML randomly turns into an alpha. of course despite this, the ML is still very much a top. they just make it work. but there's no sense of strangeness or incongruity. If anything, I've never really seen an ABO romance between two omega where they both still stay omegas at the end. it was interesting and refreshing!

[collapse]

this being said, I don't think I'll continue reading this. if the MC had mentioned his mission in the first few chapters of the 3rd world or if the system had appeared I may have continued reading it but I just don't want to anymore. its pure romance fluff. its not a bad thing, but I just don't feel like continuing it. <<less

It stated okay then not. I am not quite fond of the 2nd world's story.

I hate that the MC had to fake a relationship with the ML and ML needs to act as a third party in a relationship. Although in reality, the ML was the same ML in the first world, it is still morally wrong.

I was already a bit disappointed with the MC in the first world since he just agreed with the ML to be in a relationship without confirming his (MC) feelings towards the other. It... more>> made me more disappointed that he was using the ML and ML even agreed to be used as a stand-in.

Instead of loving them, I end up getting disappointed tbh.

PS: Idk I may be also too dumb but I don't get why the MC received a lot of points in the first world. I kinda forgot the goal of the 1st world so I'm confused why he won the arc after establishing a relationship with the ML. <<less

This is the best novel I read this year, literally the most fun I had in a long time. The translation is magnificent completely superb. The tension between the leads is exciting it makes you swing your legs like a teenage girl, giggling and laughing. In my opinion the first world is the best but all of them are extremely entertaining. I highly recommend 👌 ☺️

A Cutie MC. Flawed MC but he make the story entertaining. A Cutie System too. Made the story even Better. A Doting Persistent ML who truly know what he want and also would agree to MC's 'weird' demand. Their Roleplaying to complete their mission was so Funny.

But the story is not just Pure Fluff.... The 3rd Arc I was crying mess. The 4th, I didn't expect that kind of ending too, but much better than the 3rd.

The 2nd arc where some people may kinda dislike MC? I don't though.

The 1st... more>> was a Good arc too with the Roleplaying like the 3rd.

It's 3/4 Fluff. No truly Angst. But like I said... The 3rd Arc... Not BE... But.... yingying

The Extras aka the real Ending truly Completed the story though. The Loveliest Ending.

All in all I LOVE THIS NOVEL SOOOOOO FREAKING FCKING MUCH!!! FOR ETERNITY AND IN ANY UNIVERSE!!! <<less

1st Arc - it was a nice read, the plot is predictable but still enjoyable

2nd Arc - this isn't the 2nd arc in the summary - it's omegaverse and both ML and MC are actually omegas so the plot was interesting but I feel like the author just wanted to get over the arc so there were a lot of jumps and plot holes that didn't get filled like below which makes this arc so-so overall

  • there seems to be a upcoming twist about ML's gender, I'm baited but nothing happens even at the end
  • what's with MC's memories, why doesn't he remember that he's a transmigrator. It seems that he thinks he's really the person he transmigrated into but he doesn't question why that body acted differently before he transmigrated
  • What's their score for this world? Do they succeed in their task?
Arc 3 - MC is a girl? I'm not into BG right now, I prefer BL so I didn't finish this arc.

Plus, MC's tsundere (??) personality js cute to me at first but it's becoming not cute to me

Will I continue reading? Prob not

Can't believe I actually finished this. I put it on hold for a while and then suddenly had a ton to catch up on.

Honestly, the story wasn't anything special. The first arc was okay at best, something light to pass the time. But it really went downhill from there. The second world felt like a chore to get through, nothing about it stood out. The third had potential, but instead of building the relationship, it spent most of the time on poetic rambling and calling the MC a cat over... more>> and over. It read more like a rough draft than a finished story.

Anyway, it's done now. Not my worst read, but would not recommend it to anyone.

The good part of this novel was the translation, to be honest - it flowed nicely, but no good translation can save bad writing.

[edit] Rated this two stars (⭐️⭐️), but for some reason it's not showing up.

Oh well ¯ (ツ) /¯ <<less

I finished it and I overall really liked the arcs. They were well done and thought it wasn’t too unique, it was still enjoyable. A couple things I noticed is how the Task’s are just too easy to complete and when the ML and MC role played it out, it was funny but I got sick of it soon. One more thing is how unreliable the narrative is, a lot of stuff doesn’t reveal itself untill later so I find myself questioning a lot of the stuff happening. If I... more>> had accidentally skipped a chapter.i also wished the ending was longer, it was a little bland but still happy. I finished it in 2 days and would rate it 4.3 <<less
