A decent academy novel to pass the time but there are some serious leaps in logic. I'd give it a 3-star but the pacing is rather slow and they've barely even entered the academy so I won't judge it too harshly yet. Nevertheless, this review will be filled with criticisms since the latest translated chapter at the time of writing this review is 13.

As with my opinion regarding most novels, my primary gripe is with the MC. In particular, his memory.

The MC falls asleep after creating a new character in... more>> a game he frequently plays and wakes up in the wilderness of said game. Pretty classic, right?

Well, the MC doesn't remember the specifics of the character he'd just created before going to sleep.

He also forgets basically everything regarding communication by the time he is found by humans approximately 3+ years after being reincarnated. Now the people who found him don't understand Korean, but the fact that he forgot everything about Korean aside from one word, a language he has been speaking for 20+ years, is insane. Even if so much time has passed he truly forgot. He has shown himself capable of making cave drawings so why doesn't he do it even when he feels himself forgetting how to speak. Don't give me bullsh*t about how he was struggling to survive and didn't have time. Since it is implied he adapted rather quickly to surviving in the wild. Also, I already know some guy is gonna comment on how he's basically half-insane after a while, but insane does not=s*upid

Fortunately, he understands the humans. And yet he doesn't nod or shake his head or even do any kind of the most basic sign language. He merely responds with 1 word. The only word that he remembers. Now I don't know if this is a shitty attempt at comedy or if something bigger is at hand and this is foreshadowing (I think its the latter since the former would just be too s*upid and I expect much better from this writer), but from where I'm at. It seems absurdly ret*rded of him to not even point or shrug.

Keep in mind this could all be some part of some over-arching plot line like in TAPOV. In fact, I personally think it is but that's still uncertain. <<less

I find the premise and idea behind the story quite interesting but the execution is a completely different beast.

Frankly it's frustrating to read, the story moves at a snails pace, really, you can skip half of the text and lose nothing. There's a lot of repetition, MC checks his equipment, then after 2-3 sentences of nothing, checks again, and then again. Every character has to nag him not to kill his opponent even when the fight is long way off, when I mean every character I'm talking about literally every... more>> character MC considers close, and the nagging is repeated 2 times per character. The fights are in between terrible and mediocre, at the beginning it was alright, at CH 33 it's one action 4-5 sentences describing that action or whatever and then another action.

You may think: "okay, so the fights are bad, there is some repetition, so at least maybe the characters are good?". Not really because there is barely any essence between dialogues and it's frustrating that dude learns how to speak for 30 chapters and still can't make a proper sentence.

To top it off, the translation quality is very good - at the beginning - when the translator changes there's a sharp drop in quality. As always when you see the GalaxyTL you may expect: not being able to read without ad block, not being able to understand who's talking, confusion about the topic of discussion, mixed up genders/pronouns/subject (as a part of grammar) - I think it's mtl with barely any editing. <<less

I had kind of a hard time rating this novel. The writing is pretty good, the setting and the characters are pretty interesting. However, 50 chapters in, it's kind of hard to read because everyone around the MC treats him like he's 5 years old.

Basically our MC is a survivor who's lived in a deadly forest for years and he gets rescued (duh, the title). The whole time, the MC still thinks like a sane, average Korean guy. But for some reason he still acts like a savage. Like it's... more>> understandable he has some animalistic instincts, but so far he's never tried correcting himself or changing like at all. For somebody who's so normal, he's very content at letting people treat him like he's 5 years old. <<less

I recently came across the series. It is different from the classic 'Possessed __man of the academy', it revolves around MC trying to re-adjust to civilization while stopping World Destruction. MC himself forgets most of the World's Settings, only remembering major events. So, Yeah no Equipment Hunting or hogging cheats (Welp, MC himself is a cheat). The story has a lot of interaction with Female Leads, with wholesome interactions and caring MC.

Female Leads take care of MC while trying to figure out his peculiarities. MC show his full capabilities in... more>> Fights and he himself is not overpowered, he has just great potential.

Overall, story is heartwarming romance, with great action, comedy and whole lot of smooch interactions.. You could always look forward to MC's incredulity. <<less

Personally, I think the previous review was a bit harsh on the MC. So I'm going to write a review since there is a lack of them.

This isn't a spoiler since you get the main premise just in the prologue and small details like skills pop up very early on. The MC is crazy about a game. This game is crazy hard to play bc the controls are wonky, but the storyline is great. He makes many characters and plays through them all since the ending of the game changes... more>> based on the specs of the character and the choices that are made throughout the game. This probably contributes to the MC lack of knowledge of what character specs he's entered when he's Isekai. He knows enough that he knows his specs are crap when he wakes up. He wasn't given any special abilities or anything. I suspect, and it's hinted at, that he went into 'god mode' play. Dropping him off in the middle of the Choas Forest with nothing but a loincloth and sh*t specs.

He spends a few years in the forest. He doesn't go 'crazy' exactly like the other review states. He gains an ability called frenzy. When he's at the point where he's going to die he loses consciousness and wakes up with the area messed up. While this skill keeps him alive he's well aware of the drawbacks. I don't think this is 'crazy' necessarily. It's mentioned in the first few paragraphs that he's going to use his instincts to kick ass and that dialogue isn't needed to know who that shitty people are. He'll likely run around kicking noble or politician ass. In the first few paragraphs, it mentions that the countries are at odds with each other and that the age of heros was long over. So this adds to my suspicion that he's going to go around smacking down corrupt politicians.

Once you get a bit further into the story and he meets people and he tried to communicate with them, you see moments when he intentionally keeps quiet instead of protesting with his one-word comeback. He recognizes the people from the game. There are some moments when he's frustrated by the lack of communication and there are moments when he uses that lack deliberately. I think this is so that the story can play out better in the long run. He's not crazy or s*upid, but frustrated and calculating. Now my biggest gripe is the Bear Grylls fanboying down by the author. The translator even makes note that there is an issue with hyping up Bear Grylls so much. Still, while I dislike Bear Grylls with a passion the story itself isn't really affected by it. Just as a note about how he knows enough about survival to survive in the forest bc he watched a lot of Bear Grylls and knows about the game. Unrealistic, but hell it's isekai.

Nothing much happening as of chapter 41, namely: slightly revealed plot, a few harem member candidates, MC's power current upper limit (MC is already OP at the beginning of the main plot).

Hosh's review said how, until chapter 13, MC seems s*upid as he forgot how to talk except 1 word. Later it was revealed that ... more>>
Spoiler

one of the god specifically made him like that as his faith value is very low (as he always swearing to god), and he would be able to talk once his faith value go up. Basically at the whim of that specific god.

[collapse]
so maybe at the later chapters he would talk normally.

There's only so much plot-holes, and maybe the author would later reveal something to explain those leap of logic. The only problem with this is that the pacing is a bit too slow, and there's only 41 chapters translated so far.

Decent novel with an interesting premises, so I hope author doesn't mess up later. Will move this to my waiting list. <<less

I really enjoyed this at the start, however eventually one issue kept growing bigger until it overshadowed all the good. At the start there's this gag where the gods essentially curse him so he can't learn to speak properly and instead he speaks like a caveman. This leads to him being treated like an idiot who has no idea what's going on, this was funny at first. However after 130 chapter he still can't speak properly and is treated like a dumb child. This means the main character has very... more>> little agency and is never really interacting with the world because he is unable to say things the way he intends to. <<less

Honestly, I never expect it will be this good

At first I thought its gonna be annoying just because he is from the wild but turns out the story is really fun and quite wholesome

Hes not a savage, he is smart just rarely use his brain but when he do its really quite out of the box idea

Its been a while since I laugh this hard

A work where PTSD is the primary struggle. Most of the training arc happens off screen as he is left in a late game, high level area for years

While the work largely plays of him becoming a "Groot" style character after being alone in the forest for too long, there are more realistic effects such as almost doing a kill move on someone that casually snuck up on him. He cannot even let the blades of a barbers scissors get near him without freaking out.

He reacts to sudden stimuli like... more>> everything is a jumping snake or a tiger waiting to pounce. He is rational, but he has been trained to kill first or die. <<less

I love the premise of this novel. An OP barbarian, who spent years in a death trap of a forest, suddenly enters human society. Now, he has to properly integrate into this new world and make use of some of his past life knowledge to navigate through the various complexities he'll face.

Honestly, I've read many stories that have a relatively similar plot, and almost every time, I feel the exact same way:

I wish this was better.

I'd say stories like these, where the MC is reincarnated into a game world, usually... more>> have some sort of gimmick that severely hinders the plot and character interactions. Whether that be the MC being apathetic to everything, being dumb af, dense of people's feelings, going to an academy, or simply not caring about the plot... and this one isn't any different. Most of these are okay in the right setting, but the problem is that authors just toss them in to give the MC a "weakness".

Like others have explained, the MC can't speak, read, or write the world's native language.

Spoilers:

Spoiler

He's essentially cursed by the gods, for cursing at them too much.

[collapse]

That's fine and all, but it just means the MC is treated like a foolish child who doesn't know anything. It's amusing at first but gets old really quickly. But I can enjoy that, and I don't see a problem with it as long as I see progress to remedy it. My main gripe is that the MC quite literally acts like a foolish child. Sometimes... sometimes, he acts like someone with a functioning brain, but most of the time, he's just dragged around from place to place and forced to "learn".

The MC has no agency, nor does he intend to be proactive. On top of that, we know almost nothing about him. His ambition, his personality, his uniqueness, basically nothing. He's incredibly bland. If he just showed something unique, something that showed off his true personality, I'd rescind everything, but after over 30 chapters, there's still nothing.

It shouldn't take 200 chapters for the MC to become a real person, nor will I waste all that time to "get to the good part".

The author set this up to be good right from the start, and fumbled as soon as the MC entered human society, as is the case with most of these stories. I'd honestly much rather read about their time in the wild, trying to survive by themselves, than them interacting with other people.

Then, of course, the author has to throw in a random OP academy that the MC "must" go to. It's not like he's one of the strongest beings, knows a lot about the world (even if he claims to have forgotten), and is a modern adult man.

Overall: If you read the first 10 chapters, like it, and don't see yourself getting bored soon, then this might be for you. It's definitely worth giving a try. But if you're going into this expecting a barbarian-like MC, then you'll only be disappointed. <<less

Started interesting but in my opinion quickly became repetitive. It would've been fine I've read many such stories but the translation is ass at least as far as I've read it. You cant't even tell who's talking to who and who says what sometimes and the genders are often wrong. Feels like a cleaned up MTL but to even paywall this to premium chapters feel like a scam.

This novel has been an amazing one with comedy and serious moments laced in between. The MC is not so dense that they don't understand the relationships around him, but also goofy enough to allow for funny scenarios to arise.

It is a harem novel as seen in the tags, but has been writing it in a way that it doesn't annoy the reader too much. Each girl has their own traits that make them unique and also have an actual character behind them other than their infatuation with the MC.

The... more>> only complaint I have is the fact that a character who seemed to have some significance was forgotten.

That being said this is an enjoyable read and I definitely recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys academy novels. <<less

Incredible! I’ve never laughed so much while reading a novel like this. The main character's antics are absolutely wild—hahaha! The heroines are sweet and well-developed, definitely not one-dimensional.

The plot does move slowly, but with all that’s happening, you might not even notice. The main character is a lovable idiot/wild man who loses the ability to speak (I’ll explain later why), and his wild instincts lead him to act in unexpected ways.

The novel features a slow-burn romance, and I found the way the main character forms a family to be truly... more>> endearing. Highly recommended! <<less
