A protagonist born with the fate of becoming the last emperor of the Byzantine Empire, which is collapsing due to prolonged wars, natural disasters, and civil strife.

The story follows their struggle to overturn the destined fall of the empire.

It is a tale of leading people who have lost hope during centuries of decline, fighting against the Ottoman Empire as it rises to become the strongest empire of the early modern period, and rewriting history. The tone is generally heavy, somber, and filled with a solemn atmosphere.

Frustrations

Who put the Comedy and Fantasy tags!?

Fantasy?

... more>> MC does have a status window, but both MC and the reader have forgotten about it in less than 10 chapters. Transmigration? There is absolutely zero impact of Transmigration on the story. Transmigration and Kingdom-building means MC's action will have an revolutionary impact, either scientifically or politically. But no. MC is a pure middle-age noble, just with compassion for the populace. This is pure alternative history, no signs of Fantasy.

Comedy!?

The only character with the slightest hint of comedic tone is one pe*verted character. The story is depressing as hell. The only reason there is no NTR tag is there is no Romance or Harem tag to begin with.

Review

Is the story good?

Characters? Absolutely fantastic. Every major character is complex and well written. Can't help but wish for a happy and fairytale ending for them.

Politics? Well, alternative history of earth around 15th century and political maneuvering are well written that I even want to include Drama for the tag.

Kingdom-building? Everything administrative is skimped over briefly. A few lines on the process and the result after time skip.

Romance? I took a peek at the ending. Yes, there is no designated heroine. Maybe got together in between? Not sure.

Tone? Not exactly tragedy as of yet but not a light-hearted one either. MC is chasing hope admist inevitable doom so it's gonna be a bit depressing but except some comedy seemingly forced to comply with dating-sim theme.

Conclusion

A well-written story for people who loves historical, heavy, and non-romance.

Alert for people who wants to read light-hearted stories, and NTR-sensitive folks.

I've been depressed and wanted to read something light-hearted and now I'm more depressed 😔. <<less

The novel itself is not bad, there might have been some repeating sentences and some difficult roleplay, but the novel itself is quite good and quite interesting, if I may say so. I recommend if you are a huge kingdom building glory type of individual, but in total, the novel itself is not that bad, entertaining even at some points, it's just the main disadvantages I see with this novel is the lack of character development and how quickly the timeline is moving, but all in all, it's quite good.

This is great stuff, the drama, the struggle, the politics, everything ties so nicely with balance.

The best part of this title is the protagonist, he's very competent without making it feels like the story and every characters is fellating him like that Late Roman Republic and Louise XVI era France titles. He embodies every male fantasy of discarding every base temptations like women and wealth to devote your whole being to a cause against overwhelming odds.

He's really unique in character and experience from other historical self inserts. He's more introspective... more>> and sacrificing, he also has experience something that I have not found on other protagonist with similar titles

A political marriage that has a wife who does not love him. <<less

This is a novel that told the story of an alternate history revolves around Constantinople and the empire (forgot the name).

The MC is written perfectly as a leader of nation.

There is an element of lit-RPG but only in the beginning. After early chapters, it got forgotten entirely.

... more>> The way the author wrote the novel is easy to understand. It mostly just explain the outline of each event with some minor details.

There are female characters, but if you're looking for romance, sadly there are none or maybe not yet. There's this one female that might be the MC heroine though.

For some, the topic of religion which is mentioned quite a lot might be uncomfortable, but I can assure you the author focus heavily on political strives and war. He/she didn't insult or undermine any side.

In conclusion I gave this novel 3.9/5. I just prefer a kingdom building story to have romance sprinkled here and there even if just for a tini tiny bit. <<less

A disgusting Protagonist there are no doubt this coldness, aloofness, and obsession it was shallow and disgusting why he care so much for the empire, why his relation to his retainer, family and even parent is not explain in detail

Author clearly a fan of history but suck in creating interesting relation that feel alive. How he threat woman after his 16. This man is nothing more than a cold marble. It was better if he die a dog death, his woman left him, the empire he want to save destroy... more>> and razed and all his work undone.

I cannot even root for him because his coldness is shallow as his dream no man no matter age will ever genuine follow such leader <<less
