MC is astonishingly childish at the worst moments. Such as going against military order and making bad decisions in battle. I get that he is hot headed and sometimes such plot lines add to the drama. But it does get past the annoying line for me.

MC is definitely straight at the start. Then suddenly, his childhood friend comes into the picture and he (yes, said friend is a guy) very clearly has a crush on MC. And MC does do some ambiguous things with him. I think it just looks off because us, as the reader, knows that the friend likes him. But there's this push and pull where I'm not sure if MC is knows that the friend likes him romantically yet continuing said actions. For a moment I thought the friend should be the ML. MC does try to pursue some female love interests that goes nowhere. In fact, I think that's the only real point in this story, how messy the love relationships were. Now the WORSE part that got me to put down the book was that ML gets super injured and goes into a coma. This sends MC into a downward spiral and questions his feelings for ML. The really off-putting part is that we later find out the ML actually woke up, cross-dressed as a female, to come and seduce MC. I'm just mind blown. Still thinking if I read that wrongly. He then returns as ML, spills the truth to MC (who was already so confused about his feelings for this "female" colleague) and then proceeds to force himself on MC. I mean I saw the tags but this left an extra bad taste in my mouth.
