Description
Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.Known as the Monster in the Iron Mask, the Devil of the Northern Front, the Smiling Executioner, he bears many fierce nicknames, each a testament to the multitude of enemies he’s made. Showing even a hint of weakness meant a certain and brutal end, torn apart mercilessly.
So, much as I loathe the idea, as much as I detest it, I must perfectly embody ‘Julian’. I have to become the sinister, deranged character with narrow eyes that everyone in the empire fears.
Character Trait [Polite Speech]: You, without exception, address everyone, children and adults alike, with respect.
“Can’t one’s soliloquy be a little exaggerated?”

- The MC (now Julian) is clever, cunning, manipulative, a clean freak, and... has a deranged aesthetic sense 😂 He pretends to be the OG Julian by acting villainous to ensure his safety & survival, but he's not genuinely evil. Because of this though, he often has an identity crisis. The MC doesn't kill arbitrarily just like the OG Julian did. In fact, during a kill-or-be-killed situation, he hesitated to take a human's life, which made him more realistic as a character.

- Unlike most MCs, Julian joins the enemy camp (although he had no choice) and acts as a double agent. This makes his character more interesting cause he cleverly dodges suspicions about him and cunningly devises plans to slowly weaken the Dawn Society's forces as well as thwart their plans. This also makes the story more exciting cause Julian's walking on thin ice and you'll never know when he'll get caught nor which side will catch him first (whether it's the Dawn Society or the Empire.)
- Important supporting characters are fleshed-out. They are given enough spotlight about their backgrounds, inner turmoils, struggles, enlightenments, character developments, battles, and interpersonal relationships. (Just wanna say... Herand was born in the wrong family. I feel so bad for him😔 He's too good for that shitty elitist Crypart family. He deserved better ☹️)
- Despite being OP from the start, Julian grows stronger as the story progresses. His trainings are shown as well.
- Story execution is quite good despite the cliché plot. It kept me interested as I read further.
- The pacing is good. It's not too fast yet not too slow.
- There are occasional POVs from other supporting characters.
- Misunderstandings are not annoying nor frustrating mainly because most of them are quite possible if you think of them from the other characters' perspectives. Though to me, as a reader, I find them funny 😂 Plus, thanks to Julian being sly, he uses those misunderstandings to his advantage.

- Pintel acting like a devoted fanatic of Julian is so hilarious 🤣
- Sombra, now Angelica, is creepy and cute at the same time. I originally thought those 2 words in the same sentence wouldn't be possible at all yet Angelica made that possible.

FALLBACKS:I pity the OG Julian, especially the young, once-innocent him. His past reminded me of the saying "Evil is not born, it's made." What that damn old geezer made the young Julian do was way out of the line. He's unrecyclable tr*sh.
The OG protagonist, the Sword Saint, isn't what he was portrayed to be in the game created by the Players' choices. I consider this a positive because it adds depth to his character and makes him more unpredictable.
The original purpose of the enemy organization, Dawn Society, is to open new horizons through the study of demonic energy, not to worship the Demon God that devastated the continent as Grand Archbishop Tenellon suggested. I find this interesting because they're not simply a cult of deranged members who want to revive the Demon God but actually more like crazy researchers who want to open new horizons with demonic energy. Although demonic energy is painted in a negative light, what if something revolutionary came out of it and is actually helpful to mankind? Of course, if the means to an end cross the line, I'm against it.
- Narration is more on tell than show.
- There are massive infodumps, especially about the game. Rather than learning the world through the MC's or other characters' POVs or observations, the author blatantly explains the details of the game through the MC's narration... like we're in class and the MC is presenting a thesis lol
- Repetitive narration of previously narrated information.
- Battles are so-so. They're not bad but they're not that good either. They don't invoke excitement or thrill in me.
OTHER COMMENTS (or rant) : I just wanted to address luxincaelo's review. While I understand his confusion regarding the MC's decision & fixation on acting like the OG Julian, it's all about perspective. Imagine transmigrating as an infamous villainous character who has made several enemies not only within the Empire but also in neighboring countries. Those enemies are fearful of you yet can't wait to tear you down. With the slightest sign of weakness or slip-up, they'll devour you whole. If the MC chose to act nice or "moderate" in that situation, do you truly think that the people who loathe him to the point of wanting to kill will say "Oh, he has changed so I'll forgive him"? If you were in their position, would you easily gloss over the OG Julian's past atrocities simply because he has suddenly become kind or moderate? Hell no. Not everything's that simple nor straightforward. The MC's decision to act villainous like the OG Julian is his way of ensuring his safety & survival. Despite being perceived negatively, the OG Julian's notoriety is an effective shield cause everyone fears him and will think twice/hesitate before they antagonize him. luxincaelo asked, "Who would be suspicious if he suddenly pretends to be a different person?" Bruh, practically everyone in the Empire will. The OG Julian was infamous—so much so that if the MC acted differently, they would suspect him of becoming crazy or they wouldn't believe his changed actions to be real at all and only think of them as his whims or schemes. In fact, some of Julian's associates had doubts and became suspicious of his rather changed behavior (mind you, his behavior has minimal or subtle changes from the OG Julian yet his associates noticed immediately because they knew the OG Julian's character too well.) "His behavior makes no sense." Of course, it won't because you have only read 7 freakin chapters 🙄 "MC is so annoying. He has no personality!" How can you gauge a character's personality in only 7 chapters where the first major event/arc hasn't even happened yet? This is why I don't take into consideration the reviews that were posted by readers who had only read less than 100 chapters, much less those who have only read less than 10. It's because novels (regardless of whether they're fast-paced or slow-paced) usually get the story together and their characters fleshed out within more or less 100 chapters so as a reader, you'll be able to make an INFORMED view of the story and provide helpful feedback of the novel, rather than a superficial first impression review. 😒
