For a work of Baby Salt, it's... surprisingly cute and wholesome!?!?... so far anyway.

Grand Duchess was fairly the aforementioned before sh*t went to fetishland - but at the same time, Rozelia, for all her forcefulness, is actually giving it her best shot at being a mom and Camilla is defo a yandere in the making, but also significantly a lot less overbearing to the cuter side of things. MC's still utterly boned, it's Baby Salt, but in a more comedic way.

I should warn the MC is the "Accept my... more>> help, you don't need to do more." "Noooooo-" s*upidly stubborn type of person, so if that's not your taste then I suggest another novel. I personally find it cute. <<less

As far as I'm reading it, it's pretty good.
Spoiler

Though, I'm pretty sure some developments will affect our MC in the future chapters cuz there's impacts on each action MC makes and he practically did all that.

[collapse]

The MC is really interesting because even when he's living a harsh life, MC tries his best to work things through and despite being a girl, a little one at that, he toughs it out like a man (though he's a girl). As the saying goes, 'it takes a great man to be the cutest of girls'.

It's all good and I'd recommend anyone to read it because of how storyline was written and some maybe upcoming plot twists. MC's goal was to change the fate of the villainous family and MC did pretty much saved them.

Spoiler

but little does our MC knows, MC only helped ease the family's suffering. Their evil part is still in them and it excites me to see what kind of reaction our MC will make once they let it out

[collapse]

It's good and all but knowing the author is baby salt, we pretty much know where this goes. An op mommy that wants to keep MC with them, an op lil sis that's developing some feelings from MC
Spoiler

and takes advantage of the makeup kiss everytime they fought.

[collapse]

Until this recent chapter, why not give it a try and read a bit? As far as it goes, it's a really fun read.

I would encourage readers to approach AMissingLinguist’s review with caution, as it appears to be based more on the author’s previous works than on the content of this particular story. As of chapter 29, there is no evidence of a manipulative "lover" or Stockholm Syndrome, and the main character is not portrayed as a hostage. If you’re unsure about the story, I suggest giving it a try until chapter 14—you’ll have a good sense by then if it’s something you’ll enjoy.

Personally, I enjoy stories where the main character doesn’t immediately... more>> get everything they want and has to depend on others to overcome challenges, the complete opposite of an overpowered munchkin. That's why I am giving this a 5/5. <<less

The pace is pretty slow, but it's fun so far. The protagonist is a bit frustrating going back and forth between bottomless trust and unnecessary self-reliance.

If you want to make money, use the tools at your disposal, trade at (or at least close to) market prices, and trust only what you've seen and not what you're told. There's a line about the immature body affecting behaviour, but nothing about abandoning basic common sense or goal-oriented business.

Not that making money is the core of the plot - it's more of a... more>> trigger.

But even with limited legal options for commerce as a minor, there are avenues that can be explored somewhat safely. Ascendance of a Bookworm covers that aspect significantly better, but again to be fair, it's not the main point of this novel. It's just something that bothers me.

Otherwise the novel seems to be developing fine. The trope of "misunderstood villain that is saved by altering the timeline with game knowledge" isn't new (although the level of misunderstanding isn't particularly high in this case), but it works, and there's still time to develop into different archetypes. Another interesting point is that both her adoptive mother and sister are such villains, with distinct personalities. It remains to be seen just how they'll end up.

The pacing is pretty slow. There's a time skip just after birth and then it progresses very slowly, possibly even slowing down progressively. Obviously this trend can't continue forever, but readers who expect the plot to quickly move on to the main portion that would have been covered in the game in which the MC reincarnated, may be disappointed.

If a slow development doesn't bother you and you care more about the characters' relationships than an action plot, there's plenty to be enjoyed. This review is obviously still pretty early, but unless the author ends up cramming too much into childhood or the novel gets axed, it should gradually transition to the main plot. <<less
