Rich second-generation slacker Shao Yichen only wanted to live an idle life, but unfortunately reincarnated as another version of herself in a parallel universe with only the same name. She was then scammed by a cunning director system that depleted all her assets in this world, forcing her to make films—no filming meant no money.

Fortunately, this director system had an idiotic punishment clause—if a film loses money three times in a row, the host will be sent back to their original world.

Shao Yichen: Is there really such a good deal?

To return to her original world and continue her slacker lifestyle as soon as possible, Shao Yichen became determined to defy the system by making money-losing films!

However…

A shoddily made horror film became a hit;

A detective film without proper beginning or end became a hit;

A comedy that wasn’t funny at all became a hit;

A fantasy film with padded storylines became a hit…

What happened to losing money? How does each film become a hit?!

Years later, the legendary director Shao Yichen, who never failed in the entertainment industry, solemnly stated in an interview: “I really just wanted to lose all 100,000 yuan at the beginning…”

*A humorous system novel about how Shao Yichen, failing to lose money, instead becomes a top director on her journey to success

*Connected to “Every Day Defying the Food System”

*The author knows nothing about filmmaking and acting, so any issues are the author’s fault

One-line summary: Was supposed to lose money, but why did everything earn profits?

Theme: Even a rich second-generation slacker can transform into a genius director through hard work

It's a light-hearted story. FMC's goal is mostly relatable and there is a sense of reality in her reason why she wants to lose money. The romance is subtle, only showing its presence towards the last third of the book but it's not an unbelievable development.

I especially like the development of the Nan Brother's.
Spoiler

Most novels would make them have some hidden talent that later would explode and be recognized by the world. The netizens would probably comment things like 'how come they never blown up before' or 'those who said they are tr*sh are simply jealous!' but in this book, what their art was described at the beginning—a howling, piercing music that simply poisons the ears—is how they were described to the end, albeit only a difference that there are some people who can relate to their art now. A kind of beauty in the eye of beholder.

[collapse]

It's short and had a rather abrupt end. Some ends are rather loose and unresolved.

If you are simply looking to breeze through a novel, without using much brain cells, this novel can be safely consumed.

A young transmigrator with a director System trying to make bad movies so that she can returned to her original world. I like her premises and logic. Her fail factors which are sounded if they were the only ones, mingled with each others plus the misunderstanding with surrounding people, screwing her.

I like the joke, it is marketing 101 so it does make sense. I like the translation because I can feel the comedic fluid.

English is not my native, that's why I'm grateful for the translator not using fancy words that... more>> break the immersion. I don't need to google so far.

The website might need some improvement because there is a delay before I can open the next chapter. It usually turned me off, but the story and the translations made me stay for the chuckles. <<less

A lot of fun! I'd have given it 4 stars except I accidentally hit the 1 star on my phone earlier so I gave it a 5 to even it out.

The translation was good, the story was silly but fun, and I'd sat so long as you aren't coming in here looking for something to take seriously you'll probably enjoy it. Light and easy read, predictable but not in a bad way. Ending was maybe a little abrupt but I wasn't unhappy with how it ended. Four stars!
