After repeatedly provoking his elder brother, Chang Yu was sent to the mountains as punishment. After enduring a few days of hardship, he fled by car, only to accidentally crash into and shatter the stone lion in front of an old house in the mountains.

He compensated the owners and left, but as soon as he reached the foot of the mountain, he was dragged back up. Stubborn and unrepentant, his family froze his bank accounts.

After a few days of poverty, Chang Yu decided to try and reclaim some of that one million he’d paid out.

So, he returned to the old house and sought out the man who lived there.

The man was serene and refined, like a noble young master straight out of ancient times, residing in a centuries-old estate. Unwilling to stay in a tin shed or a construction site, Chang Yu took advantage of the man’s reclusive yet kind nature, frequently visiting Zhao Ci.

To Chang Yu, the man was like a fox spirit from the mountains—handsome and devoted to home.

It wasn’t long before Chang Yu’s heart grew restless, and he pestered the honest man relentlessly, determined to seduce him.

Feng Jun knew Chang Yu was full of schemes, yet he still believed his sweet lies. Relenting, he agreed and included Chang Yu in his future plans.

Then, Chang Yu received a call—his brother had a change of heart and sent someone to bring him back down the mountain.

Chang Yu swiftly broke up and left without a second thought—

Feng Jun waited in Zhao Ci for three days. That evening, he received a message:

Chang Yu: “Jun-ge, let’s break up. You’re too good for me—I don’t deserve you.”

He replied: “Let’s talk.”

A red exclamation mark appeared in the chat: “Message sent but rejected by the recipient.”

Half a month later, Chang Yu woke up from a drunken stupor and found himself back in Zhao Ci, staring at a familiar canopy bed.

Barefoot, he stumbled out in a daze.

Feng Jun sat at the pearwood Eight Immortals table, a faint smile on his lips, his tone as gentle and refined as their first meeting: “You’re awake.”

That is, until Chang Yu noticed the photos spread out beside Feng Jun—all of him carousing at the foot of the mountain.

Chang Yu: “…”

Feng Jun’s roots were rotten, buried deep in the old house—until someone tore him out and left him exposed under the sun.

He gave Chang Yu loyalty, love, and abandoned his usual rationality. But Chang Yu abandoned him.

So, he brought him back to the old house.
