Three years ago, Yan An, originally a cultivated Copper Coin Grass spirit, transmigrated from the cultivation world into modern society.

Not long after arriving, she had a flash marriage and divorce with Qi Yan, a rising fresh face in the entertainment industry. Along with that came the children in her belly and a thirty-million-dollar divorce settlement.

Three years later, her ex-husband, now a movie king dominating the entertainment industry, cornered her in an alley.

“I’ll give you a hundred million. Let’s remarry.”

Yan An: !!!

One day, Qi Yan came home early and found two 3 year old kids squatting by the backyard pond, staring at a patch of Copper Coin Grass, tattling on him.

Yan Mengmeng: “Mommy, I found out that Daddy drinks lemon-infused water every day! I’m so scared… What if he soaks me in water too one day?”

Yan Kuku: “Mommy, Daddy likes eating bitter melon. Will he stir-fry me and eat me?”

Yan An: “Don’t worry, don’t worry. Once Mommy gets the money, we’ll run away. You two just have to hang in there a little longer. Your younger siblings still need money to sprout.”

The ML divorced the FL because his agent told him to. He admitted it in his POV. He said, be it the marriage certificate or the divorce papers, it's just for formality and he and the FL can still live together without it. He also admitted that he doesn't love the FL, she's just the most convenient. Also, it's because he's the only one in her eyes and so on. So from the very beginning, the ML was a s*umbag. Yes, he never cheated but I just feel so suffocated... more>> when he feels angry when the FL easily agreed with their divorce. It wasn't love. It was just arrogance. Even when they reunited, he still never really cared that much with the FL, just his son. So I don't think the romance here was satisfying, maybe the childcare is, but I'm here for the sugar y'know. Yet I think, this story's sugar contains pieces of glass shards. A big NO. Whether the story will be sweet later or not, I can't really tolerate the ML's arrogance and thinking. Not to mention that the submissiveness and indecisiveness of the FL contribute to my dislike. <<less

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve reread this story! I honestly can’t believe a translator finally picked it up because I used to MTL it myself.

It’s such a comforting read, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The female lead (FL) is a plant spirit/demon spirit. She was originally a cultivator who transmigrated into the modern world. Her main goal was to find a human mate and have children. Having her own offspring is her ultimate life goal. As a plant spirit, specifically a Copper Coin Grass. She should be able to reproduce asexually, but to her surprise, she can’t.

In the modern world, she meets the male lead (ML). They have a whirlwind marriage, but eventually part ways.

Spoiler

The reason for their divorce is because ML is an actor, and as his popularity grows, his agent suggests he get a divorce for the sake of his career. He plans to remarry FL once his career stabilizes, but before he can talk things through with her, FL disappears.

[collapse]

They met again 3 years later.

Spoiler

FL has already delivered six children on her own, without ML’s knowledge.

[collapse]

You can really understand why FL acts the way she does and why she doesn’t want ML to know about their children.

The reasons are complex:

  1. She’s not human; she’s a plant spirit/demon spirit, and so are her children. They’re a different species altogether.
  2. She fears that once ML finds out about them, he’ll take them away from her.
  3. She’s also looking for a way to return to her cultivation world, and if she does, she’ll have to take her non-human children with her, leaving ML behind.
[collapse]

But don’t worry... it all comes together with a happy ending.

As for ML’s character, I won’t spoil it, but I was definitely surprised by the plot twist. It’s an unexpected turn that made the story even more interesting! Haha, what a ride! <<less

It was okay, more entertaining than most novels of this particular plot-line. I mainly came here for childcare, and man! What hath been promised hath been delivered!

Romance wise, the FL and ML were okay, not too good not too bad, pretty forgettable. But the kids, each of their personalities is pretty unique, no ‘3-year-old-hacker-genius whose sole purpose was for FL and ML to meet again’ b*llsh*t. I adored them all,

but the chili might be my favourite!

the weird part was
Spoiler

the evil system that was at first attached to the villain, aiming to kill? The ML who was the reincarnation? Of an op figure in the cultivation world, and it somehow bound to FL and it forced FL to have intimate contact with ML so it could infect?? The ML in order to defeat him. Of course FL didn’t know any of that until the last half of the story, and she was forced to conform to the system in order to ‘germinate’ her children

[collapse]

so the romance was pretty manufactured, some minor plot-holes and supernatural stuff that only existed to op-ify the ML (FL actually was pretty ordinary for a CN novel heroine). But both ML and FL were decent and there was no dog-blooded or forceful s*umbag ML white-washing.

so therefore, since it hit all of my ‘running away with the bun but due to a valid reason’, ‘cute kids’, ‘quality family time’ and ‘entertainment industry’, and I’ve re-read it again. <<less
