In his previous life, Lu Chizhou loathed her with every fiber of his being, yet he was forced to marry her due to his family’s declining fortunes. After 20 years of marriage, she propelled him to the pinnacle of success, sacrificing her own education for him and bearing his children. He rose to prominence with her unwavering support, his family business flourishing, but he ultimately betrayed her by marrying his “white moonlight” (a term for an idealized love interest). In the end, Tang Ning was sentenced to life imprisonment, and his children met tragic fates.

Reborn on the eve of the college entrance exam, Tang Ning publicly announced the termination of their engagement. Lu Chizhou sneered with disdain, “Tang Ning! I’m waiting for the day you kneel down and beg me!” Tang Ning dedicated herself to her studies, earning a direct recommendation to a prestigious university and undergoing a stunning transformation after losing weight. However, the Lu family was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, and Lu Chizhou fell from grace, becoming a mere shadow of his former self. Not only did his relationship with Bai Yueguang crumble, but he was also cuckolded. Witnessing Tang Ning’s engagement to his mortal enemy, Lu Chizhou’s eyes burned with anxiety. He knelt down in public, begging for forgiveness, but Tang Ning mercilessly mocked him, “When I loved you, you disregarded me, but when I no longer loved you, you pushed me away. You’re such a jerk.”

Saw this plot several times in web drama but I guess I'm in the mood to read some face slappings so here I came.

After reading this, I feel that MC took way a long time to take revenge on her ex. I thought it would be over after the ex went bankrupt during their high school time but it turned out, MC deliberately let the ex rose again for 5 years and then crushed him for a second time. But this time, it was more difficult than the last time... more>> and sometimes, even MC also hurted himself when she hurted her ex which wasn't worth it.

I know that what her ex did to her in her past life was unforgivable but I still think that MC was a bit too obsessed with her ex. It made it seemed that MC still hadn't move on yet from her ex (though not out of love) because her life still revolved around her ex even after 5 years. She even founded a company just to supress the ex so yeah... no wonder ML was still jealous of the ex even if he knew that MC didn't like the ex anymore.

Also, I don't like how impulsive MC was. She always thought that she was smarted than anyone else so she often recklessly did something without any detailed plan and then, it got backfired which wasn't surprising. I guessed she was just a bit too conceited just because she knew more about the future.

Spoiler

I also didn't like one scene where MC rejected ML and chose to trust his enemy just because MC didn't want ML to know her CEO identity. I mean, why? ML was obviously more trustworthy than his enemy and he would protect MC even if he knew MC's secret identity. But MC thought the worse of ML and only came clean after her identity was revealed by the media.

[collapse]

And for you who hated misunderstanding the most, then you would hate how MC and ML interacted before they got together. ML was a blockhead who couldn't communicate while MC just refused to listen to anything which was a bit frustrating.

Spoiler

ML didn't communicate with MC for 5 years because he was afraid that she would be in danger but he could still communicate with her parents. I mean, if ML told MC not to communicate with him for the time being for her own safety, I think MC would understand. And regarding his fiance, ML also let MC misunderstood him and acted like a tragic hero which wasn't romantic at all.

[collapse]

Well, at least it got better after MC and ML got together. <<less

For a novel that have so many chapters to have only one set of villains is way too long screen time for the villains. They were annoying undying roaches. This is like bad fast food novel. The premise was quite interesting with a lot of potential. That being said, it’s well structured and fast paced.
