Xia Wan transmigrated into a novel and became the unfortunate cannon-fodder character who was cheated on by the s*umbag protagonist.

When he transmigrated, he found himself at the s*umbag protagonist’s engagement banquet and surrounded by people mocking and humiliating him.

Desperate, he instinctively grabbed the most powerful and intimidating man in the room and quietly asked for help.

As the room fell into shocked silence, the man, who was so incredibly handsome that he almost didn’t seem real, slightly narrowed his bright, starry eyes. A small smile played on his lips as he effortlessly pulled Xia Wan into his arms.

Later, Xia Wan learned that the handsome man who had held him so tightly was none other than Huo Yu—the s*umbag protagonist’s older brother and the novel’s biggest villain.

To survive, Xia Wan nervously signed a marriage contract with Huo Yu.

In front of the people, he would smile sweetly, kiss Huo Yu’s cheek, and lavish him with praise:

“My husband loves me the most!”

“My husband is so amazing!”

“I love my husband very much!!!”

However, behind the closed doors, Xia Wan would quietly slander his new husband.

Damn, that clean freak, he wouldn’t even let him give a proper kiss.

No wonder he’s the heir of a wealthy family—so cold and ruthless.

…..

Huo Yu has a cold personality. He always acts ruthlessly and will do anything to achieve his goals.

But ever since that engagement party, the moment when a breathtakingly beautiful young man had clung to him for help, something had changed.

At first, Huo Yu went along with it purely out of formality:

“Wanwan is kind and innocent. What bad intentions could he possibly have?”

“Wanwan is my little angel. Everything he says is right.”

“Wanwan is my beloved. Who dares to touch him?”

But somewhere along the way, those words stopped being just formalities.

Now Huo Yu protected Xia Wan so fiercely, that if anyone who dared to lay a finger on him would have to pay with their life.

Paranoid black belly, beauty and strong attack X squeamish, cute, prosperous beauty

It was cute, but not impressive at the same time. Everything just works for the MC, and everything is just too convenient that it's illogical. It has it's good points though, but I'm just not happy with it.

The novel itself is pretty fun and decently well written (with a couple small problems with pacing, set up, and smoothness). The main couple is very sweet, and there's a distinct lack of drama and drawn out bits that are commonly seen in other novels of this genre. MC was ill and transmigrated to a cannon fodder that was being humiliated. There isn't too much focus on the "original" storyline, though we do run into the original couple a few times. The plot revolves around the main couple and gently... more>> goes through their relationship and a couple fun twists.

That being said- I actually just couldn't connect well with most of the characters and am left not loving a lot of the author's decisions. Absolutely nothing actually wrong- its a personal standpoint- go read and you will discover XD.

I didn't give it a high rating because it left me feeling annoyed and dissatisfied, but I do think its a decent read and that most people will not feel as annoyed as I am, so still encouraging readers to check it out! <<less

Some definite plot holes. But if I wanted something consistent I’d read “War and Peace”. I’m just here for some fantasy to take away this dreary life. The nice people are very nice, friends have friendly interactions. Minor dog blood. Don’t try to find out why anyone wrote original danmei MC transmigrated into.

The translation is good with some occasional minor errors. You can read smoothly if your brain has a autocorrect like mine lol

The story started good, I wasn't expecting anything original or groundbreaking so I just relaxed and waited for the cliche.

MC transmigrated and his family was a rich and loving family, but he had an incurable (?) illness so his life was kinda dull. He has a cheerful and happy personality, he is also very talented in design and art.

Sometimes the pace is odd. Like, nobody questioned him for his... more>> sudden change in personality and out of the blue talents?

Well, it doesn't matter. But I really don't like the Grandpa, the adoptive Dad and latter half of the story.

Sometimes is just like that, it starts good and the romance is fluttering but then everything turns out good and became dull.

Spoiler

The way I rolled my eyes when the Grandpa blamed the mother for going back to work but he wasn't exactly present too 😒 and I didn't see him blaming the dad or the nanny or the security of his people and home. Urgh, he's unbearable.

Another thing: people whitewashing the adoptive Dad for kidnapping (!!!!) MC. I mean, he sure suffered a lot of setbacks like the losing his legs, his girlfriend and his company and he was completely depressed and determined to take his own life BUT this 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 not 👏🏽 an excuse 👏🏽 to take 👏🏽 a child 👏🏽 with him 👏🏽. I am also depressed and had a lot of suicidal and homicidal thoughts, but you don't see me breaking the law for it. Be for f*cking real 🙄

He's not the primary culprit, but he noticed Wanwan was from a well of family and had the chance to call the police but noooo, hes is depressed and he really wants someone to depend on him 🥺

He's so disgusting. And I hated how everyone was forgiving of him.

[collapse]

The thing I hated the most, however, is how the original owner faded way from everyone's memory. Even MC.

Original Xia Wan was a victim through and through and it's upsetting that the author didn't giving him an Extra chapter with a happy ending : (

I just read till the end because I was curious to know if the other side couples would happen or if the OG!XW would have a Happy End. But I was disappointed.

And I was bored, so whatever. <<less

Is not amazing and the past of the MC and ML are a bit wierd however I enjoyed reading it. The love between them makes the story engaging and you want to keep reading to see team beeing perfectly sweet and kind and warm and respectful each other's everything :)

I wanted to like this one, but I have to say, it ended up being very lackluster in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with it necessarily, but there's nothing here noteworthy either. Very boring to me, I am sorry to have to say.

A simple and sweet potato chip story. There’s nothing too awful or too angsty. The characters are sweet and have some depth and go through character development. While some things are a bit cliche, it works well overall and there is no nonsense level of face slapping or idiot villains.

If it had a little bit of angst for the MC, it would’ve been better, however his sad experience is kept in the background and nothing awful ever happens and he ends up getting the best of everything in this new... more>> life. Which honestly? Well deserved, he’s a good kid. <<less

If you are looking for a heavy story, you should avoid this story.

BECAUSE, DAMN THIS STORY IS REALLY SWEET AND THRILLING 😭😭

Maybe many things and points are lacking, but Xia Wan, our MC is really bright and shining. He was really making the most of his transmigrating life. He doesn't dramatize, and he makes good use of everything. Look for the sweetness to protect ML really smart and shining.

Our ML Huo Yu is even crazier. The character doesn't even resist from the start, but that doesn't mean he looks cheap.... more>> The way he likes and develops his feelings is really cute. He proved that the process of loving doesn't need to be complicated. No need for drama, and it's really cute 😭😭

when they become a couple, the PDA that spreads is even sweeter than sugar. They really are a sweet smart couple.

I really enjoyed reading this story.

If you are like me, who hates stressful and frustrating stories, then this story will really entertain you. <<less

The story actually is a more of a 4* than a 5.

It wasn't until I reached chapter 72 that I realized the story would not be a 5 star for me. I have no interest in the side characters. I didn't keep their names in my heart. Every time I saw a side characters name I thought, "oh this is someone from MC's side" or "ah this is someone from ML's side". Literally could careless about these people, even if they're interacting with the main characters. I pretty must skimmed... more>> until I say the name of the MC, ML, or dad (of MC). While certain parts regarding MC's family storyline made me actually cry (which brielfly made the story a 5 in my heart), I honestly felt that those storyline was unnecessary:

Spoiler

It's a "MC was taken/lost as a child and his biological parents are actually rich and want to recognize him" storyline. Maybe I missed some foreshadowing in the beginning of the story, but it threw me off because it seemed to come out of nowhere during the half way point of the story. I kind of wish that the MC did not recognize his biological family. They're nice and all but I just couldn't help but think: who cares? His adoptive dad raised him well he doesn't need two dads lol I cried because the MC and his adoptive dads relationships and the dad's health. Very bittersweet and very heartwarming.

[collapse]

I enjoyed the relationship between the MC and ML as well as the relationship between the MC and his dad. Also it was nice to see how well the ML treated the MC's father! All of their interactions were nice to read and got a few laughs out of me.

It does feel a bit slow in the middle, which is where the MC's family storyline starts, but it gets a little better, thought I don't the pace is as good as it was in the beginning. If you want to read something simple and focus on the relationship of the main couple, this is good to pass the time. <<less

I mean it's fine... It was very cute at some points. The main couple is cute?

like everyone else I have some issues with the plot, which, without spoilers, if you can turn your brain off, is fine I guess? Like "MC is OP in the entertainment circle and everyone likes him instead of the anti-fans" type thing. It's fine, just average with some very cute moments.

Spoiler

MY problem with the plot isn't just the kidnapping thing but the whole "missing child" plot line?

tbh like I get it, in a way where I personally can't get it but I can imagine? it's a lot to have a missing family member and never get that resolution as to what happened to them.... but I thought the way that they approached the MC was weird.

like collectively kinda stalking him? Approaching him to be in his life while hiding who you are... idk sorry I'm sympathetic but it still gave me the ick. No one else seems to have a problem w that but it bothered me.

& the kidnapping thing.... sigh. Okay. I wish the author didn't write it so that the guy actually did kidnap og!MC, because that kind of plotline is just... too nuanced and complicated for this story where everything is relatively shallow and the og!MC isn't really taken into consideration at all.

because personally, I don't judge the kidnapper for how og!MC grew up. Even if he shouldn't have had the kid in the first place, he still clearly loved him and I don't think it's right to blame him for being poor? + he clearly didn't have enough power to be able to protect og!MC but he tried when he could. He wasn't equipped to support a child that wasn't his in the first place (which is an issue obvi,) but he tried his best for his circumstances and I think that matters.

I'm mostly ambivalent on the kidnapper situation where I don't feel super strongly one way or another (altho I also don't feel particularly bad for the kidnapper either btw), but I have stronger feelings on how it's handled because I think the author made a mistake in making this one of those transmigration novels where we get nothing from the og!MC. ⬇️

[collapse]

I have some problems with how they handled... the og!MC's past I guess?

Spoiler

like the current MC has the og!MC memories, okay sure? But do they really have the same personality? Similar values? The MC's friends never seem to comment on his changed personality so we can maybe infer that the og!MC was also like this in a relaxed environment. but it's super hard to tell.

the og!MC and MC also... like they didn't grow up the same. MC grew up ill & bedridden but beloved by his family. Og!MC grew up loved by his father but also poor, bullied by his relatives, so he's very timid, etc. it's just so strange to read about such a different person (MC) making decisions about a life that just, isn't his, nor could he relate to. it's fine when it's just him re-connecting to the Xue family because it's just not that complicated, (but still... idk weird because you're not really the child they lost but the MC doesn't really think of this so whatever I suppose.)

It really shows up as a flaw when the MC forgives the kidnapper/father though. I wouldn't mind if the og!MC chose to forgive him tbh but like..... idk it's weird coming from someone who wasn't actually born and raised in the og!MC's circumstances and it's never made clear how similar they are in present day.

To me it's not about whether the MC chose to forgive the kidnapper/father or not but more of how it felt like he was acting so presumptuous about things that didn't happen or affect him?

like choosing to focus on the love he felt growing up even if he wouldn't be in those circumstances if he wasn't kidnapped... feeling resentment over forgiveness because he wouldn't have went through those hardships if he was given back to his family... understanding that the father was in a bad place when he took him... idk. It didn't seem like anything the MC would understand since it didn't affect him.

It felt weird. The author made og!MC too pitiful for the MC be so, disconnected from him.

Sweet and a little silly at times. You always feel confident in the main couples relationship. This book is not one that takes itself too seriously. If you want a novel that deeply explores the trauma of transmigration and is filled with face-slapping orchestrated by the MC this is NOT the novel for you.

There is your fair share of obligatory dog-blooded drama, and one may reasonably argue the MC is a Mary-Sue - in that they are talented in skills for the sake of plot and everybody with the exception... more>> of the cannon-fodder villains adores them. However, I believe it doesn't take away from the story, which is primarily focused on the protagonists being happy and in love.

Some people don't like how it dealt with some of the family drama, I personally wasn't all that impacted by it. I thought it was a fine ending and that not every story has to be filled with resentment.

Truly, my only qualm with this book is the fact that it sets up some brilliant side-character relationships and doesn't give them a resolution - the type that makes me feel as though the author may have sequels planned. If you get attached to the relationships of the room-mates, don't expect satisfaction.

This is a happy little novel that you don't have to think too hard about, enjoy the relatively straightforward relationship of the protagonists without dealing with misunderstanding plot lines or heart-stopping stakes. <<less

Even if I dub myself as someone who loves generic rich-boss plots or missing-child-heir dog drama, I still have some level of taste!

I usually would devour these sort of plots, but for some reason this one was just missing that IT factor for me. It was nice for the first 50-something chapters & then my interest quickly whittled down. Not to say it’s a terrible novel, but it’s not my type of novel.

So far it’s okay. It’s a bit brainless so far but an enjoyable read. The main character is cute and I enjoyed the ML too. As another review mentioned though, the side characters are forgettable.

I will say that it gets confusing due to the rough translation (honestly a bit disappointing since it’s chrysanthemum garden). It could use some heavy editing. Still better than straight out MTLing it.

I liked it, though I had a hard time keeping the side characters straight. Someone, maybe halfway through, posted a comment of how the side cps paired up - even though they never happened. The author just gave hints that they were one-sided crushes (kind of useless information). Lot's of evil family members, corporate shenanigans, angst. The author wrote an ok novel, but there was a lot to keep up with and I struggled with who was who, at times. Did like how the MC softened the ML. A common... more>> theme, but still enjoyable. <<less

The novel took interesting take of the Family Situation. It may be the reason why the novel has low rating...

But I give it 5 starts because the CP are Lovely. While the plot... I won't rate it yet until it completed. Because I don't dare to assume.

Love the ML and even more Love the MC. They're so far wonderful and well open minded people.

I just hope the rest of the story have a Satisfactory end. 🙏

Its kinda hard to get into it at the beginning and MTL is a pain in the bu*t but I still enjoy it.

Its yours typical marriage agreement turn to real couple but has its own quirk. MC is a baby that deserves everything! I'm kinda sad that he has to be separated from his real family but at least he gained a very healthy body and gain a new family that really loves him.

I kinda agree with junieb with MC being fine with just his father. Cuz for me its... more>> already good, he doesn't need to be super rich again. I also find him being a lost child unnecessary drama because he's really doing well with his father and he's well love even tho his father can't function much because of his disability. It would be ok if it is a rebirth one but nope, it is a transmigration one so I don't have much feeling for the biological family even tho they're really good. I've read plenty of baby switching and lost child danmei but mostly are rebirth so this story appear strange for me lol.

Anyway its not the greatest but a good read if you're bored since its not really long. <<less

Good novel 🥰. Sweet romance with the usual setting as any other novel. Both MC and ML character are good with proper feeling development between them it goes with a flow. Just in between I was pissed as to when both of them will confess their feeling. Sweetest movement when they came to know that the other person also loves them.

Highly recommend. Lots Of Love ❤.
