Ruan Cha grew up in a small town where her family of three lived off rental income and farming, leading an easygoing, simple life.

Everything changed when her biological mother was recognized as the real daughter of a wealthy family, and Ruan Cha became the true heiress.

Suddenly, Ruan Cha realized that her life was actually part of a system-driven academic drama novel, where she, the girl praised for her beauty since childhood, was destined to be the clumsy, unattractive, and short-lived supporting character!

After her death, her parents’ lives would spiral into tragedy-one losing their mind, the other meeting a miserable end. The whole family was nothing but cannon fodder!

As she pieced the plot together, Ruan Cha looked up at her reflection: stunning and adorable. Then she turned toward her parents, lying on the bed giggling after their meal, embodying peak “slacker” vibes.

Her feelings?

Complicated.

[Mini-Theater]

When Ruan Cha’s parents accidentally discovered that their carefree and cheerful daughter had been bullied in her new elite high school, they were devastated.

Their thoughtful daughter didn’t complain or cry-she just studied harder, her face growing thinner by the day. It broke their hearts.

Father Ruan: “At the last parent-teacher meeting, the other parents asked what companies we run. I said we’re landlords.”

Mother Ruan: “And at the last art festival, when they talked about their love for wine and jewelry, I said I love farming.”

Father and Mother Ruan: “…”

The couple exchanged glances and sighed in unison.

Father Ruan: “So, even if you own a hundred buildings, being a landlord still earns no respect, huh?”

Mother Ruan: “And even if you grow cabbages worth 1,000 yuan each, farming still isn’t a proper hobby, huh?”

After a long silence, they looked skyward and lamented together:

“Life in the big city is just too hard!”

I finally finished reading this novel. The story is about the second life of Ruan Cha who tries to prevent the tragic events he experienced in his first life by studying hard.

In Ruan Cha's second life, which has the system and dreams of the novel that tells his first life, is the influence of the time line of Ruan Cha's first life.

For the romance, although Ruan Cha and Fu Chen are officially together almost when the novel is about to end, it is fun to read how Fu Chen secretly... more>> tries to get close to Ruan Cha and how Ruan Cha is slow to realize her feelings or Fu Chen's feelings.

For the part where Ruan Cha's character is portrayed as an all-around genius girl, I felt that this novel was a bit over the top. But overall I still enjoyed reading this novel. 113 chapters with 1 final chapter locked, I feel this story is quite appropriate and the novel also tells how things were after Ruan Cha died in the first life. <<less

I enjoyed the story, but I think I would've liked it even better without all the time travelling, reincarnations, and higher technology. This underlying plot line was acceptable at first, with just the system, but as it went on, I was no longer reading a salted fish novel QAQ. Also it's too much for my tiny brain to wrap around, especially with so many different timelines and all the linked elements. I liked the fl's personality, she treats ppl how they treat her. Romance was lacking though. 3.8

If you're looking for a story focus on school and a Salted fish MC forced to become the top academic goddess through her own way and golden fingers, this is for you.

MC doesn't have OP instruments and powers but have OP attributes, capable of studying and skiping grades when determined. Along with that, OP is very lucky and have OP background.

I truly enjoy the story and think most will enjoy this novel. The reason for 4 star is that I just personally did not like the ending.

The story felt like... more>> the origin story of a misunderstood villain and it leaves a lot of conflicting moral views in my opinion.

Spoiler

The villain is like the MC of Re:Zero that constantly dies (for very weird reasons) and reborn. To make him worst and unsympathetic, the story just added that he is a prisoner and that he dies from random stuff when he harm someone. I say "the story just added" as there were no build up or further explanation as to why he was a prisoner and why he was harming others beside the hint that he is crazy. While it may be as what is state, the mere fact we can assume otherwise doesn't sit well for me.

In one of the reborn life, he survived from his lover saving him. His lover died from her hidden disease, he tried to save her by researching on the cure but failed and now on the mission to revive her instead. In the end, he found out a technique of reviving a dead person by sacrificing MC as the most compatible life to exchange.

First off, see how for plot convinience it needs to be MC in this world of 8 billion people.

Sound tragic right? Well to make it less tragic the story flip it last minute and change to how in fact the villain actually just love himself so much and find her as the antidote to him not dying... If you go back, you can see the real reason he kept dying is because he's doing bad deeds. This is a HIGH IQ VILLAIN. Let's assume he never notice the correlation, but he never tested if being lovers with someone else could help?

I also need to point out that in raising kids, punising a kid WITHOUT telling them what's wrong is just not the best way to teach someone, we learned this in this kind of times, you telling me the future times forgot this or is the future agreeing punishment without being clear of the reason is okay.

It just has so many holes. And the ironic part for me is that we get to see MC buying the cure for the disease in the system AND rewriting the timeline to one where MC won and is alive.

Oh the reason why villain can't but the medicine? Because the system can't provide discount like the system offered to MC because well... reasons. And system sacrificing their life for MC.

Entirely going around villain point as to why there are people who have good fate and some who have it bad. And the entire answer of MC of experiencing what it feels like to die and live again and again doesn't really work when the villain is doing that?

And also:

Villain: continuesly die for random reason and so biggest fear is dying

MC: and you said you love your lover

??? I was laughing so hard when the author correlate fear of death to mean he is narcistic and never love his lover. Like what, author needs to touch grass.

As to the romance, it's a slow one with ML doing all the work and being a loyal dog. <<less

First of all, if you read this novel till the ending of main chapter.

You will find that the timeline of important character is so chaotic, the issue of time paradox.

Like Doraemon goes back to the past and changing things which appear in the present, so did Doraemon changing history or Doraemon is part of the history.

The story itself is nice. All with the counterattack to the bad person. It is also nice how later in the ending, it is explained how in the 'first world' the bad guy still dead.

light read. Politics and dark stuff are handled by the adults which is great because the characters in focus are teenagers

there are indeed some holes in the author's writing but not necessarily plot holes as it makes sense but only because the work is written for teens to young adults/shoujo (so do beware if you are not a fan of such themes)

Spoiler

like how the antagonist was revealed to be not smart at all and was just over using the learning system to gain the "main character halo" which he envies is innate from MC (very YA with the MC being different from everyone else and is dependent on your preference if you can enjoy the work or not).

Also, the antagonist is not at all crazy, he is a psycho or narc but not crazy at all and knows what he is doing. He is only clinging into the supposed "lover" because she is a trophy that serves as either his proof that he can still live because she basically stopped the cycle of his deaths or his justification which doesn't really matter as long as it/she exists (like how serial killers usually have a "great family" as a façade). He just became crazy because of the revenge from the learning system (which is why even the MC is surprised that he became crazy when she just did such a basic revenge of mental torment through nightmares).

The medicine thing is also not a flaw because the antagonist can indeed buy the medicine only if he is indeed working hard to get it, which he is not. Also, the learning system unbinds from the host anytime there is an immoral act (ex. Killing). Added with how the antagonist is basically speedrunning the rebirths, he won't be able to accumulate the points nor will he be at the state of "point poverty" that the system will give him benefits (since he's smart enough to not waste points nor be at a lack of it). Also, it's sus how the antagonist's "lover" became in that state when it was also mentioned in the work that the generative disease was discovered after the antagonist's clinical trials (unless I didn't understand that part properly lol).

Oh and yeah the relationship between MC and the system is not that of a host and a system but rather of an admin and a system so tbh it makes sense why the system was buttering up the MC since she's essentially it's boss and can basically decide if the system will be destroyed or not.

What's weird is the use of the system to remove a minor villain not related to the mystics of the story world at all when the families or even the ML can deal with the guy instead. Overkill tbh

also quite liked how MC is not omniscient
Spoiler

MC had to learn how to hack and had to learn it a lot but still only knows the basics that she had to bluff her tech employees who are slacking. Also, ML is only knowledgeable enough in tech and code because of the nature of his father's company but is still not the typical *types random stuff* "I'm in"

[collapse]

It is true, though, that there are still stuff in the story that has yet to be revealed properly even with the work already completed.
Spoiler

such as who the grandfather from mc's father's side is and why he is helping the MC when he us from the higher/alternate plane with the author basically rounding it off as because MC is MC LMAO

[collapse]
.

romance is slow but actually nice, typical proper/ideal teenage relationship especially from a quite conservative culture
Spoiler

but ML basically is the greenest flag and shown a million aura points with the ending cause damn he basically destroyed the antagonists in their prime without having a golden finger at all (since MC prevented the rise of these antagonists but ML faced them off squarely)

[collapse]

overall, nice casual read. It does indeed require a lot of reading between the lines as it is not that straightforward but don't overthink it cause it's not that type of story lol. Also, thanks a bunch for your work translator! <<less
