As a real young master of a wealthy family who was taken away by mistake, Chen Mo has never understood why it was him who was lost outside for seventeen years, and everyone still liked the fake young master Yang Shule, so he fought hard to fight, to grab, and to rob. In the end, his parents hated him, he was abandoned by his relatives and friends, and he died unexpectedly.

So after rebirth, Chen Mo thought it over.

Laughing makes you ten years younger, and going to bed early can help you live till old age.

Not long after returning home, his biological parents asked him: “Chen Mo, do you think your brother… Can he still live with us now?” Chen Mo said sincerely: “As long as you are happy.”

Aunts and uncles praised the fake young master during festivals. Chen Mo drank the wolfberry and red dates mixed soup and nodded repeatedly: “Yes, you have good taste.” The people around him openly and secretly compared the two of them, mocking him for not being worthy of the identity of a real young master of a wealthy family. Chen Mo slept soundly while soaking his feet in medicinal water: “Isn’t this a fact? Just keep talking about it, you can even go out on the streets with a loudspeaker.”

Others: “…”

Later, people found out that this real young master picked up by a wealthy family is best at three things.

Eating, sleeping, and being gay.

Not only is he gay, he also dumped the excellent student in his grade, who was the childhood sweetheart of the fake young master. Chen Mo felt extremely wronged. Xi Siyan, the cold-faced devil, didn’t like him in his previous life. How did these people came to think that he dumped him.

“How about I explain it for you?” Chen Mo tried one day.

The person leaning against the wall looked down at him and raised his eyebrows: “What do you want to explain?”

“You, Xi Siyan, will have nothing to do with me, Chen Mo, in this life, the next life, and another next life.”

The person in front of him kissed him with his hands in his pockets, and said coldly: “Now I do.”

Chen Mo was shocked; Xi Siyan! You dog forced me !

This was such a beautiful story.

The best part of this novel is how the characters were portrayed, how different actions led to different outcomes, although some endings stayed inevitable.

Spoiler

Just like how, the MC didn't pursue recognition anymore and his family started to regret their actions, they still never reconciled as MC was just tired of it all. How, although the ML and MC ended up together this time, ML still had no choice but to go abroad due to his family circumstances.

[collapse]

I liked how ML was portrayed. In high school, he already displayed a level of maturity above his peers due to his upbringing and way of life, but that also did not mean he was truly cold hearted. He knew how to joke around with others, and knew how to play so as not to ruin the mood. This was why despite having a distant personality, his peers depended on him and never acted like strangers around him.
Spoiler

As an adult however, we see how much colder and more decisive he is. More arrogant, and authoritative. He became a true leader, and could now solve things on his own unlike during in high school, where the reach of his power was limited.

[collapse]

I also enjoyed MC's character. He was already mature in high school, it being his 2nd chance at life, but we also get to see how differently he acted as a teenager and as an adult. Although same on the surface, he was more composed later on.

Their relationship:

Spoiler

Well, I really liked the way their relationship progressed, and I admire that they never did it in high school. Although, it's probably mostly because they had been together for only a short period of time before eventually breaking up due to external circumstances. Still, I liked how they ended amicably, and kept in touch throughout the years. I honestly think it was the righ decision for them to split, as staying together at that time would have just made both of them tired and I think conflicts would have arised. When the ML came back and they got together again, damn, he was a beast. Years of being pent up must have gotten to him haha.

I also like how although we see that later on as adults, the ML is the one who takes care of the MC, and others have commented that his care seemed excessive, we do get to know that it's just MC letting him do so. He knows ML cares about him and is just anxious of his health, and frankly, MC enjoys the ml's nagging and excessive care.

[collapse]

Still,
Spoiler

I don't think I'll ever get over their past life, so many things went wrong, and the regret... just thinking that maybe in some timeline out there, their relationship never worked out, and Chen Mo died before anything could develop between them, and ML lives on with his heart broken as his feelings left unsaid, breaks my heart.

An awesome take on a modern regression story.

I’m glad on his second life the MC had decided to let go of any attachments he had to his identity as a rich young master including the family that came with it.

I think I would have enjoyed it less if he was invested in revenge and proving himself because I would have felt frustrated on his behalf having to deal with a green tea younger brother (swapped lives). Also the decision to let go also opened him to other relationships he had... more>> never had in his first life which was the friendships that you have during highschool.

The ML is a green flag. We never have to guess his intentions or plans for the MC because once he decided and knew for sure that this was his person it didn’t matter whether there was a period of separation he would inevitably return to the side of his lover.

It is bittersweet to see how different his lives were but it’s good to see how happy and fulfilled he is now living for himself and building a life with his love. <<less

I like this story, the MC and the ML are cool. The MC's parents are the real "vilains" of this story (the 4 of em) and even the antagonist is just a kid not knowing what to do with himself and adults not adulting. The story is a 4.5

I give it a 3 not because of the story, but the translator. It's one thing to want to be paid for translation, but saying it at 45 chap is to much. It's spoiling the fun and frankly I would not have... more>> started reading if I had know.

So people should know, you need to pay to read from 45 onward on Novel Scanalations.

I'm going to look for another translator, on asiannovel they have it I think. <<less

A good story about healing and moving on. The MC's past life was tragic, filled with ab*se, betrayal and heartache so in this life, the MC decided to live a good life for himself rather than revenge.

never forgave his biological parents

[collapse]
and the MC's abusive adopted father and mother also had to pay for their crimes.

But overall this story centered around MC simply enjoying his school life before chasing after a dream he once buried in his previous life and adopting the attitude of giving an eye for an eye towards the cannon fodders (so as long as you don't mess with him, he won't mess with you) .

Ngl though, the ML really shot himself in the foot when he told the MC he was straight XD

Spoiler

Their break up was painful but rational (both chose the mature thing to do) and MC also made the best choice for himself at the time as he did not want the ML to become a new obsession of his. No misunderstanding, no keeping secrets to supposedly avoid hurting the other, no dramatic scene, just a peaceful parting.

Their relationship progress after their reunion was also reasonable with the MC trying to put up a wall at first and the ML chasing after him. And the MC was also decisive when he told the ML straight that he wanted to get back together once he acknowledged that ML really was the only one for him which is quite refreshing.

[collapse]

The character development of MC's older brother was also a nice surprise. This story showcased just how complicated a human being can be. How far a mother is willing to go for their child, how much relationships could be affected by interest and what it means to truly love someone instead of simply obsessing over a person.

So overall, a pretty good story about a second chance with heavy themes of child ab*se and its aftermath, family affection, growing up and self-love. <<less

He should be loved. He deserves to be loved.

Usually, it's a rare occurance for me to find on NU the novel I've searched by myself randomly. This author also wrote the novel 他来自1945 (He is from 1945). If you read at least one of these, you will see that although this author takes rather popular tropes that may attract the audience initial, but they give them a more profound twist eventually.

I know, I know, the beginning doesn't sound anything new and the feeling for some time will also feel like... more>> "you promised serious, where is it serious?" Because Chen Mo is currently reborn, at a spontaneous time back when he was only 17, when he lived with his biological parents only for a short period of time. The family acts a bit brain dead considering their fake/adopted son they've raised for so long and the boy actually acts arrogantly, s*upidly, but knows how to act coquettish with his parents, knows what he can get, knows his meaning in this family. It's not really a basic green tea like in other novels, you'll get the feel when you read it. And later you realize, hey, these people have motivation for acting how they act. But as a viewer and as some other participants pointed out, this is actually not enough and feels like these parents don't know what they do.

In his previous life Chen Mo was filled with rage and hatred, he was hurt and he was angry. How could these people understand his years of being beaten, being ab*sed, having so many humiliating scars, because he didn't look like his father, because his gambling and alcoholic adoptive father thought he was a bastard and that his wife cheated. Years of hurt, before he could finally fight back with teeth and claws. So of course his family's action enraged him. He wasn't mature enough and spent too much time and health on simple understanding of his family. Others didn't take him seriosuly, but he fought and crawled up before he stood above everyone else, while others considered him a mad dog, he was simply a lonely human being. And even he found his ending ironic, he thought the kidnapper was completely ridiculous thinking his death will be of any significance to his parents and brother, when he thought everyone hated him.

Looking back at his life he realized that everything he did, the desire to be admitted, to be connected, was futile. He just wants to be free now.

This is why he moved and cut off the ties with his family and didn't bother with them. The only person he cared about was grandpa. He was the only person in the Yang family who did not approve of his son's actions and supported Chen Mo in his actions, even Chen Mo leaving.

This is how Chen Mo started his "healthy" life in school. It's funny because Chen Mo can drink healthy tea, do foot baths, but when he is irritated he smokes and also fights. Can I point out that this is rare kinda? The fighting. Usually everyone is so proper, but I actually felt good that Chen Mo did not bother and got physical at times, was almost refreshing. But he also connected with people around him, looked at things he missed when he was so occupied to do better and be recognized in his previous life. He even couldn't remember half of his class how they looked like. But now he has friendship, now he is relaxed and doesn't chase anyone or anything and finds himself feeling good.

You could say partially Chen Mo acts like a salted fish in this novel, but when he finds the purpose and almost like making up for regrets he moves towards his new goal in life.

The only thing he did not expect is how he and Xi Siyan will be connected.

The romance can called a slow burn, there are some prejudices upfront, but later Chen Mo realizes that Xi Siyan is one of those people he definitely thought wrongly about. Xi Siyan is the class monitor, very accomplished young man with a lot on his shoulders. Although he comes from a prominent background, but he is also smart and talented in what he does. It so happens that Chen Mo needs to be tutored and Xi Siyan is entrusted with this task. Episode upon episode makes them become closer when we start to feel that Xi Siyan might not be so indifferent as he seems. Chen Mo also did not realize that their feelings would flare up so strongly. He never felt that about anyone and he will never be able to feel that way ever again.

I love that unlike many Chen Mo is not oblivious to his own heart when it comes to feelings and they don't dance around like virg*ns. Same thing when it comes to reunion, they might have been separated by distance and years, but no one could replace the other person, so they reconnected even with more passion. I pretty liked the part where separation seemed to befall like in previous life, it was something in Chen Mo thinking how some things feel completely different and have a different path now, but some things feel inevitable (and also the good part is that Chen Mo isn't someone with a plot in hands, like he knows what's goind on, so he could prevent it, it felt more like life). Same goes for their separation, which also felt good in a way (from the way it was presented). Both knew what's coming, but also didn't want to keep each other from growth and things they ought to do, they didn't play some dramatic couple that went against all odds. And now being mature and accomplished they could stand together.

In general it's a good story, rebirth with new goals in life, with freedom of heart, with shed shackles, it's more on a heavier side of things and is not as entertaining as others, but I liked this about it. You may even shed a tear or two, I don't know your level.

The only reason why I don't give it like full 5 stars is only because I felt at times that author didn't give me enough background work. E.g. The parents feel weird at first before you realize that the second child (Yang Shule) was a connection to save the marriage between the two (and he knew it too and kinda exploited it). It wasn't like author did not explain those, it just felt short and very much in passing.

Anyway be prepared that it's not your average Jack Sue counterattack type of novel :D

Happy reading~ <<less

It's a good series, unfortunately it is permanently locked after this particularly chapter because the ML starting to sort his feelings for MC and soften his behaviour towards him (MC) so yeah... I'm getting to enjoying it but too bad it is locked and still ongoing while I'm writing this comment. Anyway kudos to the translation team.. hopefully there are sites that picked it up and do it for free... I might have it in my list just for the notification to come through.

I'm so dumb I almost missed this gem. I'm a HUGE fan of rebirth novels and the number of times I have fervently searched for such novels is actually unbelievable. BUT! How come this one never popped up? Why? WHY?

Anyways, amazing story, amazing characters and of course, amazing translation.

The mc's backstory was genuinely tragic and it was the worst to read it from the ml's side. The lead characters relationship was portrayed really good and honestly, I was going to ignore this novel because I read the last part of... more>> the Summary. Truly misleading 😅 I really thought this was just another story with an unreasonable ML. I loved the progress of their relationship though, their tit-for-tat attitude that was really cute and funny.

Faceslapping was satisfying although I really wanted the Yang couple to suffer more 😡 As for that fake piece of cow dung, I have no words. None.

All in all, don't miss this novel. I beg you. <<less

I love the couple! They are mature and are clear headed when it comes to knowing what their goals are. They do not live in each other’s pockets but they have an implicit sense of knowing and appreciation of each other. I find that refreshing. I also love the translator ‘s work - it really brought the novel to life for me.

I have read a few good rebirth stories so far, and this is one of them. Appreciating the story's appropriate tempo. I adore how the main character in this narrative is unaffected by what people think of him but nonetheless angry when challenged. The drama with his original family is just right. The ML is one of those characters that can do anything well and has golden fingers. The fact that the ML quietly backs the MC is something I find appealing. The story revolves more around MC and his... more>> youth, so while there isn't much romance, it's okay. <<less

Hey I the first commenter. Happy ending with tragedy past. This novel is written with mature style plots. And this is not as fluffy as I think about school romantic plots.

I want to give 4.5 stars actually. This novel is good but definitely not on my list to reread again. The plots is rather heavy and tragedy (especially this novel touched a lots about the MC past and ab*se which is very horrible) .

the MC (shou) have body full of scar from 17 years of ab*se by his adoptive father. He had super bad stomach, record of 3 years of some chronic stomach disease? At the age of 15. His leg also have past injury that is so bad (almost like broken knee). Not recommended to traumatic reader bcoz this was described quite deep. I cried

[collapse]

Even though the MC reborn but its not as Mary sue as other protagonist. I like this part, not too over of changing the whole plots.

The villain not disappointing. Out MC and ML is not Mary sue like others novel. They hurt and bleed too from few mu*der attempt.

Im gonna said this is mature type novel. Not my cup of tea but recommended to someone who enjoy heavy plots drama. Of course the smexy part is delicious. Just hint of xoxo that just *chef kiss*. One thing I love about this novel is about friendship. Of course the love is like heaven & earth surging all everywhere. But their boys' friendship is really something that all people want to have. Author describe it so beautifully. This is the pure friendship where everyone will die for. One of the novel that I read which the MC never go back to his family although his parent and brother already realize the mistake and beg him for about 5-8 years. MC very determined. Felt pity for the elder brother though. <<less

I feel torn on how to rate this one. The story the author wants to tell is mature, but a combination of inexperienced writing and poor translation (MTL I think) mean that it fails to capture that.

Chen Mo was switched at birth and then found by his real parents as a teenager, after years of ab*se. His parents favour their adoptive son, and so he grows up to take revenge on everyone that wronged him.

Then he dies, unfulfilled, and gets another chance to relive that life. So he chooses... more>> to let go- neither caring about his family nor seeking revenge. He makes friends, eventually falls in love, and all about goes to live on the idea that a life well lived is the best revenge.

There are themes here that are great and rarely get explored. For example, his adoptive brother is resentful because their parents marriage is falling apart and he feels like his brother is an invader who destroyed the family he remembers from childhood, when really it has nothing to do with him. It's a struggle that many kids facing a divorce can relate to, and it's a very real motivation that makes sense yet so rarely gets explored. But the writer doesn't know how to show these, and they become one liners on a much more cliche plot instead of properly being used. The translation is too poor to compensate for the original writing style's weakness.

So instead we get something... standard. It fits into the cookie cutter mold, and fails to land anything that could have made it special. I'd never recommend it, but I'm not going to tell you to avoid it either: It's just an okay story. But I'm disappointed because really could have been a great one. <<less

It could have been four stars. I don't recommend reading this review lol. (Review based on my own tastes 🫦 enjoy)

In the first part of the story, the characters have a very interesting growth, whether MC or his friends, it's very fun to read their interactions. I found it interesting how MC leads his second life, he really sees it as a second chance to live for himself and not for the sake of revenge that made him waste his entire life trajectory. I'm a psychology student, so I... more>> liked seeing MC's depth, especially his decision regarding his romance, I found his response to ML very consistent with his character.

Here comes the reason why I'm taking away some stars and stopping at chapter 75. I'm being quite biased in this review. But anyway... Where's the romantic development in this romance??? Just kidding. ML in the first part of the romance had an incredible tension in the air, but ML didn't seem to have fallen, just treating him much better than anyone else. But, where are the racing youthful hearts? A red face? Thought-provoking questions? The author took these MLs too seriously that the changes in expressions are almost imperceptible. I simply can't see. Am I blind? But that's okay! I'm not taking it that seriously after all, ML is very cold and his only blanket is used to warm only MC. I think this should be love, but to me it sounds more like the care of a brother/great friend.

I'm obsessed with scenes of affection and the whole plot of falling in love. I was really sad, because I was very involved in the story: I loved how in "only" 25 chapters there were great developments and events. This author is incredible in his writing, his dialogues and scenarios are very engaging, I really felt like a participant in this drama and very emotionally involved with MC, ML, his friends and even his teachers. Everything was extremely consistent up until this point. 🥹

The villains are ok, especially the "fake" son, I felt depth in his evilness lol. It's a mature drama. MC suffered a lot, whether in this life or in his past life, but especially in his past life, obviously. But I think the author exaggerated a bit by making MC miserable, with recurring scenes of him being sick, feeling unwell, depending on medication. ML is always taking care of MC... After all, is it love or pity? Pity can turn into love, but that's not sweet to me, I didn't like it 😃👍

It's a good story, it deserves a chance, go read it! I'm stopping at step 75, it was a good journey for this Buddha, but I'll continue my journey in other temples and on other stairs. 🛐 <<less

I wasn't too sure how this would go but I definitely enjoyed it. I wish that we could have any a little deeper with the ML and him overcoming his feelings towards the end. But what can you do. The MC really didn't realize how much he was in love with the ML until later. But once he realizes, he really just lets go.

I'll probably add this to my favorites. It would be a good reread.

Story is good. Overall 4.5

I was satisfied with the ending and also the extras. The main characters didn't feel bland at all to me but it did lack a bit of other characters' development. Still, the story focused on MC and ML so I enjoyed reading it either way.

The story can basically be divided into 2. MC's life during his last years of high school (basically where the TL ends) and his life as an adult after a few years.

Pretty smooth sailing for the characters with some bumps, a bit... more>> of angst. So it focuses a bit more on the psychology of MC after going back in time/rebirth, his interactions with old and new, and how he slowly heals and learns from what he experienced before his death.

It's refreshing how MC is straightforward but also sensible as a character. He doesn't take any cr*ps about people who don't deserve time and effort but is patient with almost everyone else even though he's a bit indifferent with himself.

ML is a good mix of wonderful cliche cn MLs lol. Handsome, loyal, a bit of a clean obssesive, commanding aura even though he's still young, low (high) key smitten and measured controling traits.

Extras explained pretty well how their relationship was in their past life which had the right amount of angst
Spoiler

MC was prejudiced towards him for the misunderstandings of thinking that ML was close with the people he hated and ML was prideful because of his identity and different worlds even though he had feelings for him from the beginning.

[collapse]

The translation is free up to c44. Nice work and helpful tl notes. After that you need to pay a subscription to read the rest (i think it was to prevent other sites from stealing their tls).

I recommend the MTL through google. I almost read 40 chapters of weirdly translated chinese before I discovered how to change the default translator. Hah....

Let me tell you why I appreciate how the author portrayed the MC, for a change the MC who returned to his high school time did not act like a brat. He was a middle aged man and he truly acted like one. He was mature and since it actually was his second time, he acted like one unlike many rebirth novels where many MCs act out of character with time passing. This MC however was solid till the end.

he did not forgive who was unworthy even blood related which... more>> made me appreciate him more. He held the grudges well and he acted inline one with his character setting well.

my only problem would be that it was a bit boring with the all business part which I kinda skimmed though mainly because I was reading MTL.

A solid story with an MC who doesn't want to waste his second chance at life. He's already gone through anger and revenge, so now he just wants to live a good life away from people who would bring him down. I loved the MC, he was fun during high school years, but I'm glad we got a timeskip to see him for a while as an adult. The ML is good, I'd say mediumly fleshed out (really thought they would get into his family, maybe in the extras). 4/5... more>> good rebirth story with enough face-slapping to satisfy without being ridiculous. <<less

I really sympathize with him. It breaks my heart what he had to go through in his 1st life. I cannot imagine what kind of strength it would take to let it all go.

Best modern second chance I’ve ever read. I love love lovvveee the MC. I find his personality genuinely so cool. Every choices he made after his rebirth were so satisfying for me. After his rebirth, he doesn’t let much bother him anymore but that doesn’t mean he’ll let himself suffer any loses. He stopped putting in all his blood, sweat and tears into fighting for things that should have originally been his but he still does his best in things that actually matter.

Spoiler

The fake’s mom was the one who switched the babies at birth coz her husband was an abusive dead beat and she didn’t want her precious lil sh*t of a son to suffer thru all that. And since the MC looks nothing like the fake dad, the fake dad thought the fake mom cheated on him and was even more abusive towards the MC. He would beat him everyday and starve him to the point where MC developed serious stomach problems that persisted towards his adulthood. At one point, the fake dad even tied the MC to a well outside in the middle of winter when it was snowing heavily for the whole night causing the MC to develop rheumatism. So even now, his knee would hurt badly every time it’s cold😭 But despite all this, the mc’s not the “so weak that he coughs blood every two days and drop dead every week” type of character. He always make his injuries and scars seem like they were no big deal. And due to him always fighting against his fake dad, the mc’s actually really good at fighting. He even became the “new school bully” at one point.

The most painful part for me is that the real parents knows that the fake dad has been charged many times for domestic ab*se when they found the MC but they still dropped charges against the fake parents just coz the company was getting bad publicity and their stocks were dropping. Not only that, they even lied that the swapping was an accident and that the fake parents were super good to the MC. One of the worse family I’ve ever read about. They deserved everything that happened to them in the end

[collapse]

After all the shits that the mc’ve been thru, he has all the rights to turn into a villain but he didn’t and he’s so strong for that. If it were me, I’ll be burning the whole world down at that point.

I also liked the romance. The ml’s your typical cold rich genius elite. No love at first sight. The romance’s actually pretty slow burn. Especially on the mc’s part.

When the ML first kissed him, forget the MC being shy. He actually thought the ML was just drunk and even looked around to make sure no one saw them🤣

The side characters are also really interesting. Especially Lao Gou who was the mc’s doctor in his first life but is now his classmate and Qin Kai. They made everything so funny. The female side characters are great as well. There’s this one female childhood friend of the ML who actually hates the fake son. Since the MC decided that in his second life, it’s beneath him to go to the fake son’s level and fight with him, that female character took on the awesome role of always cussing and calling out on the fake son being so fake😆

This book actually raised the standards for the “switched at birth” genre for me. <<less

I absolutely adore this novel. Both characters were very emotionally repressed due to their life circumstances and yet the emotions we got from them were incredibly raw.

If you are hesitating to read this, just know that the novel summary does nothing to capture what this novel is actually about. Chen Mo, the MC, is hardworking, resilient, and has had to overcome way too many terrible things in his life. The summary describes him as only being good at eating, sleeping, and being gay, but the novel doesn't actually portray him... more>> like that. He has incredible ambition but in this life he just doesn't care to try and please the people around him, and he's definitely no pushover.

As for the ML, Xi Siyan, trust me there is no "forcing" in this novel. Their pathway to getting together was both sweet and heartbreaking. They had so many things standing in their way but always managed to find their way back to each other. Their love, and their bedtime activities, were 100% consensual every step of the way. The ML would cut off his own arm before doing anything that would ever hurt the MC. Chen Mo is the most important thing in the world for Xi Siyan and he gets terrible anxiety at the thought of Chen Mo suffering any further harm.

Overall this is a way more complex novel than the synopsis makes it seem. The emotions, the tension, the conflicts, are all relatively complex but the MC, at first, was completely detached from the world. Because of that detachment, it takes the story a minute to start unraveling the layers. But each new thing we learn just adds to the depth of the main characters.

I really loved this novel and highly recommend reading it. <<less

Rating this based on the first half of the novel when they are still in school because my personal preferences made the latter business parts feel a little boring.

The CP is meant for each other, I'm glad they found each other in this life and healed one another. Though MC felt as if he became apathetic and numb, it didn't mean he had no ambition. ML was a huge turning point of his life, introducing love and joy to him.

The whole fake-real young master plotline was a little overdone, but... more>> it doesn't diminish the joy of seeing both his family get face-slapped when dues are done. I love how their friends have a story of their own, and that they form close relationship with others too. MC was a loner in his previous life and in this life he's surrounded by people who cares about him.

Personally feel that they entered first base too early, but it's fine since they are both mature and know what they want in life. I really admire how MC stopped letting his surroundings dictate his action. Overall it's a sweet and satisfying novel. <<less

This was an enjoyable read! I will say there’s a little too much brainless face-slapping ... more>>

especially when the fake gets involved (Yang Shoule is very much a wannabe-Mary Sue and can be irritating when onscreen.)

, but the way the CP fit together, grow together, and return together was really heartwarming!

I’m so fond of MC and his growth; in particular, his new lease on life really helps put into perspective the different ways his life could have gone had he just noticed the slightest difference. The ML’s doting yet snarky nature matches MC’s, making the CP a fun pair that can bicker back and forth while still spreading dog food the entire way home!

Spoiler

The novel loses “1 star” (more like -0.5 stars) for me once the high school campus love story finishes because the business plot line went off the rails for me. While I enjoyed the tension of the CP reuniting with each other after separating for a long time, the sudden threats of assassination on both MC and ML really threw me for a loop? I went into the book thinking I signed up for a campus love story—not necessarily a family/business intrigue novel.

tl;dr: Heartwarming, sassy CP/ melancholic yet strong willed MC / a “returning” of age novel —would recommend as an easy read, no intense brainpower needed !

Sensitivity note: MC has faced difficult/painful times in his childhood. Although it’s not expressly explicit, it may be a lot for some people. I will say the mood of the writing will shift, so there’s a fair warning before the backstory sections hit. <<less

I actually enjoyed this. I nearly dropped the novel when the ML confessed to the MC since it was I guess still 30 chapters from its ending. However, I really want to see how it will unfold.

The author was able to tie loose ends from the last chapter. The only thing I'm regretful is I cant find the extras. If it contains stories of their past lives I would really love to read it.

I am curious how XSY fell in love with CM during their past lives. I wanted to... more>> know more of their interactions as well.

It was a good read but I guess not a good one to reread due to its family and business drama. <<less
