read this because I was waiting for a novel to update but I’m so happy I did !!

it was a short but entertaining novel with just the right tropes. Really enjoyed seeing the MC and ML’s progression and how they both healed each other. ML is crazy but his devotion for the MC is so heartwarming and I really enjoyed all the sweet moments.

the reason I gave it 4 stars was because I feel like some scenes could’ve been longer/more explanations. Kind of felt like it just ended abruptly.

this doesn’t... more>> mean it was bad though! If your looking for a short novel with no unnecessary, arguments or drama and funny side characters, I definitely recommend u read this (^v^) <<less

So, it’s more like a 3.5 stars, because I can’t really give it a 4, but 3, at the same time, seems kind of low? Anyway.

I have a pretty strange feeling about this story. The translation is brilliant and enjoyable, so I thank the translator wholeheartedly, but the story itself is... meh? Lacking, maybe? 🤔

I’m not going to lie, just like Ouryane00 here, I couldn’t get attached to the main character because of his strange writing. We don’t spend much time in his head, but when we do, he kind... more>> of seems “foolish”, I guess? The way he thinks doesn’t seem to be that different from the way he pretends to be (as in, he tries to pretend to be a fool, but his “pretend” and actual thoughts match up most of the time). Honestly, that’s a huge downer for me because I tend to like MCs the most, but I just couldn’t force myself to care for Lu Mian at all which didn’t help the overall story : (He is kind of soft-hearted, but that’s the most I can say about his personality, it feels like there’s not much to work with (which saddens me greatly).

The side characters also are kind of strange: OG Lu Mian’s (the guy MC possessed) mother doesn’t really fit into classic “evil stepmom” role as she doesn’t care for ML at all, and the only reason she kind of dislikes him is because OG Lu Mian hated ML (for whatever the hell reason), but the moment MC started (kind of) depending on ML, her attitude change. On the one hand, she seem to be extremely loving and doting mother to her son, she isn’t even angry that he have become “a fool”, more so sad, but she is still hoping that he is going to get better. On the other hand, OG Lu Mian’s sh*tty personality doesn’t seem to have been a secret, so doesn’t that mean that she was enabling her son’s horrible behaviour all along? I want to like her because she seems like a loving mother to her son, but her past actions have allowed her (real) son to become a horrible person. Also, it seems that everyone in OG Lu Mian’s family (at least on his mother’s side) have always doted on him and have enabled his bad behaviour despite knowing that he was a dipsh*t and I don’t how to feel about it yet again :/ It’s cool that MC kind of benefits from it, but it’s still icky.

MC’s cousin seems like a nice guy, even though he hated OG Lu Mian, he actually changed his opinion and now dotes on MC, but I don’t like how he is treated by the story. His mom (MC’s aunt-in-law) seems to constantly blame the cousin (her own son) for everything that’s happening to MC without even listening to him and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be funny (like a slapstick comedy) or if I should take it straight up and treat her like she is low-key sh*tty to her son half/most of the time for no good reason. She treats MC really well, but I feel icky about her behaviour (as of chapter 16). Also, regarding MC, I just don’t understand why he is trying to annoy/low-ley get his cousin in trouble so often, considering that the cousin is nice to him (I understand that he tries to behave like a fool, but if I was his cousin, I would have been already fed up with MC’s shenanigans by that point).

Regarding ML... can’t really say anything about him? If you’ve read Chinese novels with cold male love interest, he is literally just like ALL of them, no exception. He starts to like MC over time, which doesn’t make much sense to me because MC behaves strangely/illogically most the time, only sometimes showing some clarity in his behaviour, but I guess this “new” Lu Mian is so different from the OG who have tormented ML for years that he just can’t help but to feel intrigued/interested? In any case, he is okay, I guess, very cliche type of personality for this type of male lead.

Honestly, I think I’m going to drop it here. I know that the story is rather short, but I’m not emotionally invested into any of these characters (especially not into MC and ML 😞), the story doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere (things just happen), and I will be honest with you, I’m kind of tired of that “fool” persona and behaviour. I sincerely wonder if MC’s actions are supposed to be funny? 🤔 They seem more annoying/obnoxious to me, especially because, as I said, his “persona” and real personality don’t seem to be all that different and we don’t actually see/hear much of his thoughts and feelings which is a strange choice on the author’s side. Generally, it seems that everyone are going to get their happy ending, so maybe I will return to it much later and finish reading it, but so far, it’s a drop for me (I mean, I’ve basically read half of the story and I’m still not invested into characters and storytelling, so I think it says enough). Once again, though, the translator is the GOAT, I have no problems with them!

TLDR: it’s a short, well-translated story, you can read it if you have spare time, but I didn’t get immersed in the plot and I have no strong emotions about the main and side characters. I’m still confused about MC’s actual personality and I wish we spend more time in his thoughts, but alas. Nothing ACTUALLY offensive about this story, I just can’t force myself to care about it. <<less

Normally, I don't prefer to read novels without checking the comments. But since there is no commentary on this novel, I wasn't sure at first. But finally I decided to read it and decided to write a review for those who, like me, have a hard time deciding whether to read it or not without reading the comments.

At first I thought it was a story that would be left unfinished because it was 25 episodes long, but I was already in a bad mood and I started it thinking that... more>> as long as it kept me entertained, it didn't matter if it wasn't very good.

MC is such a cute character, he reminded me of my own baby nephew when he was trying to act s*upid. He was so focused on being a s*upid that I personally think his real life personality was a bit of an s*upid too.

The og's mother is also a very sweet person, even though she treated ML badly at times, it was mostly because the og didn't like ML that's why she looked at him with prejudice. She's a real doting mother.

ML is actually my preferred character type because it's always more fun to read about the jealousy of obsessive men, as long as things don't turn violent. Even though some of his personality traits were not to my liking, his characteristics were not bad.

One of the characters that entertained me the most was MC's cousin. Because he reminded me of me when I was trying to play with my nephew. I even remember being my nephew's boxing bag. It's hard to resist little kids as long as they're cute, especially if you're related by blood!

In total I really liked the novel but it was short Some scenes that I wanted to read were not in the novel, so I did not give full marks. I would also like to see the og shou of the book.

The premise of the story is good

but I couldn’t grow to like the MC after almost finishing the novel because his character confuses me.

... more>> I understand that he is pretending to be a fool but majority of the novel, it seems that his own actions are inherently “foolish” (without pretend) so it’s confusing. I want to get to know more about the MC but his actions are so out-of-the blue

+ aside from the beginning, we don’t get to read about MC’s inner monologue much so it’s confusing if he’s really foolish or still pretending and it’s hard to know who’s really the real him

As for the ML, he’s the typical bullied turn possessive ML. He became possessive of MC first before realizing that he likes him. I don’t think the ML is inherently bad because he does treat MC well even before falling for him regardless of how the previous owner of MC’s body treated him.

Overall, the idea of the novel is good but the main characters aren’t that likeable for me. But it’s just a short story so that must be why the characters aren’t that fleshed out and the story focused more on the puns/interactions <<less

I'm quite satisfied. Short sweet story with a little tension which spicy things up. You can clearly see how gradually ML is falling in love. And even though he is possessive it's just in the right amount.

Short read, I managed to read it in one night, and for the length I enjoyed it!

The main character is cute and funny, not the smartest, since all he could do is act dumb, but hey if I was in that situation I wouldn’t do any better. So yes I still love him, the male lead is the perfect balance of loving and possessive. The “I wanna lock him up so only I can see him” and the “I can’t bear to do anything to hurt him” thoughts are at... more>> a fragile but still equal weight.

I Love how it's not about the Calculated or Manipulative Protagonist try to act like a Fool. But it's a Cute and Endearing Silly MC who tried to survive by act like a Fool. He deserve the affections he get.

He's silly but also quite caring. He's flawed and so are everyone else.

Anyway it's has no Unnecessary Drama nor Troublesome plot. All the interaction between characters are Good and great. Expect of course toward the real Evil Villain. Though even the real Villain barely there. So it's a Nice Light Story.

Love... more>> the Clinginess and the Graduate Possessiveness ML has. And MC accept it without much reluctant. So it's great anyway.

The ending is really Sweet and Great. I'm Absolutely LOVING IT!!! <<less

Short and sweet. No unnecessary shts. Supportive and kind tone overall especially in the mother's side. Story is focused on the MC and ML which I like very much. Idk whats with possessive ML or even MC that attracts me, not like im not loved as a child, well point is im a sucker for yandere types soooooo *chefs kiss*😩👌
