After the Male Supporting Role Fell Into My Arms

Gu Siyuan is also quite confused because every time he opens his eyes, he finds the beautiful but insignificant character in various poses in his arms.

At first, Gu Siyuan arrogantly declared, “Only fools fall in love,” but eventually, he had to admit, “If you’re not actively chasing love, there’s something wrong with you.”

The attitude of the beautiful but insignificant character towards him also changed from “Let go of me, you scoundrel!” to “Dare to look at someone else, and I’ll gouge out your eyes.”

CP: All-rounder Top × Possessive Bottom

Note: The souls of the top and bottom remain the same, but they don’t retain memories in each world. Happy Ending.

Note: MC is the Gong while ML is the Shou

  • Arc 1: Omegaverse in high school setting (10/10)
Spoiler

Love the chemistry between the leads so much!

Shou/ML is in a relationship with a guy, let's call him X. X actually doesn't like Shou, X likes his bestfriend but because they are both alphas, X keeps his feelings hidden.

In the past life, Shou retaliated against them when he found out he was bein played but because X and his bestfriend are from powerful families, they kicked Shou out of school. Shou's family also became bankrupt at this point and MC's dad sold him to an old, rich guy.

In the current life, MC/Gong is ML/Shou's deskmate. There are several occasions that X ignored Shou, like when Shou and his bestfriend being both injured, he ignored them but was in panic while bringing his bestfriend to the clinic.

MC will laugh/smirk/tease ML at times like these because he feels ML is naive/s*upid. However, he always ends up helping ML.

How they fell in love felt so natural and cute. Even though there are just around 25 chaps for their story, their development is very well written. MC also didn't instantly fell in love with ML and he doubted his own feelings at first, thinking if he can really love ML.

[collapse]

Their chemistry is really too good, I couldn't get enough of them!

    • Arc 2: Entertainment setting (6/10)
For me this arc is just so-so. Maybe because I loved the first arc so much and the development there is well written.

Spoiler

Here, Shou is an actor and Gong (initially) is a film academy professor. Then, Gong started getting involved with special effects technology and he also eventually becomes Shou's agent.

I feel like the story was kinda hopping over the place because there are holes created but weren't filled anymore.

Like Shou's family, at first, we see him retaliating against them but afterwards there's no mention of them anymore.

The antagonists weren't also much of a big deal. They were just side characters that didn't affect the story much so the face slapping wasn't enjoyable.

Gong was also too cold for me in this arc. As Shou said, Gong goes MIA in weeks/months because he's too busy with work and it's really the Shou that takes majority of the initiative in their relationship.

Gong here is indeed affectionate when they got together, we get glimpses that they are always "driving the car" when Shou's on vacation from filming. However, that's it. We don't really get much scenes that will make you feel like MC loves ML.

It feels like he just went with the flow when he figured ML loves him.

[collapse]

    • Arc 3: Ancient times setting (9/10)
This is a good arc! The MC and ML have a really endearing relationship. Plus, the ML/Shou is so adorable!

Spoiler

As for the story summary

ML/Shou was swaped at birth.

He grew up as the ger of a Marquis but it was found out later that he and Shen (the real ger son) were switched at birth. ML now moved to the countryside to be with his real family.

Shen was supposed to marry Gu Zhen (MC's cousin) but because they are now back to their real families, ML/Shou is now the one engaged to Gu Zhen. However, Gu Zhen and his

family doesn't want ML/Shou.

So Gong stepped in to marry Shou instead. Then, the following chapters are them living happily and feeling everyone dog food!

[collapse]

What I love about this arc is that they are very lovey dovey but it's not cringy. The Gong also has a cold personality here but it's not over the top, we get to see how much he likes Shou. I also really adore Shou's simple and bubbly personality!

  • Arc 4: Kinda cultivation world (7/10)
Just so so for me. But it's better than arc 2

Spoiler

Shou used to be the best talisman maker. However, he was beaten by the protagonist when the protagonist suddenly inherited an ancestor's wisdom

The Shou and his grandfather were expelled from their family.

It's Gong that took them in with Gong saying he wants Shou to be his assistant.

[collapse]

  • Arc 5: Ancient Times (7/10)
Shou is a prince while Gong is a general
Spoiler

everybody thinks that Gong hates Shou so they kinda have a secret tryst

[collapse]

  • Arc 6: Kinda Industrial Revolution (9/10)
MC and ML are already married at the start of the story.

Spoiler

MC here excels in fixing tractor engines and stuff. This story is mostly face slapping the villains or the people that used to bully them before

[collapse]

I think this is the first arc we get to see how ML and MC acts when they are already old. It's quite endearing.

  • Arc 7: Cultivation world
I didn't like it that much so I didn't complete this
Spoiler

Gong is a puppet emperor while shou is a powerful cultivator

[collapse]

  • Arc 8: Esports x Modern World (9/10)
I enjoyed reading this!

The gong actually transmigrated into the body of the shou's ex!!

  • Arc 9: Cultivation world again (8/10)
The shou here is kinda coquettish and always teases the gong. On the other hand, the gong is quite indifferent at the beginning. Mid-story, he lets the shou get away with it because he ends up indulging the shou. <<less

This is my first time giving a five star rating but this novel is just too good, the MC and male lead get along in such a funny way, the male lead is very proactive in going after the shameless MC, and the MC always teases him.

i love their pairing, it's been a long time but I think im going to read MTL again just to know what happens haha

ive read further and I think this is a solid 3, my main problem is too much s*x, it's... more>> not smut or anything, but after the MCs confess their feelings to each other every time they're around each other they always end up having s*x and tbh it's rly annoying. Like okay they do it a lot please stop mentioning it every chapter <<less

3.5 ⭐ Decent QT stories brought down by uninteresting main characters. I'm currently only through arc 4 and am starting arc 5, but not sure how much longer I will stick with the novel.

The MC is what ruins this story for me. He isn't bad, not good either. He almost has no personality except for cold. If I could get money every time the author describess him as cold I would be rich by now. I love gong MCs but this one is not it.

ML is okay. I liked him... more>> better in the first 2 arcs, he has more personality. The 3rd and 4th arc he is just kind of there to cling to the MC.

Their relationship is started out okay. MC and ML both forget their memories, but retain positive feelings for the other which makes the romance starting in arc 3 just about s*x. Of course it's the type of never ending s*x that hurts the ML and leaves him with bruises. How do authors find this type of s*x romantic. All MC does is meanly tease and have long hard s*x sessions with ML. So no romance.

The arc stories are what I have stuck around for. They are pretty decent for a QT novel. Of course the MC is OP to the max, but the pacing for the story really fits with my ADHD brain. I will say, there are 2 arcs where ML could have children and he doesn't. It's never addressed as to why but after reading spoilers about the "real world" arc I can guess why. Will update my review if I read more.

Edit 1: Just finished with arc 8. Arc 6 and 7 are more of the same. There are so many ancient and emperor settings that it's getting even more redundant than normal QT stories. The pacing isn't as well done as the first few arcs either.

Arc 7 and 8 the MC starts to regress? In the first few arcs MC has good feelings towards ML, dotes on him and finds him cute, but starting in arc 7, he is ignorant in love matters and even finds ML a little too willful, especially arc 8. It's almost like the arcs are out of order.

Edit 2

Arc 9 is cultivation world and was pretty boring. Really had to push through to finish. The ending is okay, not too rushed, but could have been more. I stand by my initial rating of 3-3.5. Would probably not read again, too bland and forgettable.

Translation was okay, no notes or anything, but not many mistakes either. <<less

You know the drill: MC hopping world to world to change ML's miserable destiny.

The CP is sooo cute. Although the gong is aloof, he's very passionate and vocal aftet they get together! Be aware that MC is extremely OP, with fictional photographic memory and super brain. One look and he can master it 💅🏽; The ML is a sassy, devoted and pitiful boy; he's very talented, with great ability to learn and master objects. ML is very dependent and clingy to MC.

The first 3 world are soon good (IMO), they... more>> have the perfect balance between comedy, romance and face-slapping; even the occasional plot holes did not bothered me :) I could read just fine. Oh! And the Arc from 70s, I really like the glimpse to their elderly life!

But then the quality decreased each world 😬 sometimes the author would forget plot points, abruptly dump a bunch of information and names we wouldn't even see much 🥴, side characters would disappear and appear at will, and sometimes the author would simply chop the story and jump to the next Arc abruptly 🫠

I'll give 4 stars because the translator made an amazing work! I'm very grateful to their hard work and patience 🫂💖 <<less

It's a very satisfying read!

If you want something fun to read with a nice plot, fluffy and without annoying elements, you should definitely read this.

Our main characters are both great, have their own positive points and A loving relationship.

There's nothing angsty and although there's no extreme face slapping, all the antagonists get their just desserts.

  • P.s. I skimmed the arcs which didn't seem interesting to me.

I don’t know why this has such a low rating lol. But I’ve read a few volumes in the raws, and the only reason why I’ve dropped it is because I want it to actually finish translating with the translator before continuing! Hahaha. I love the MC and ML’s dynamic. Pls do not get fooled by the rating, this story is really good! I will pick it up again once the translation is over~

One of my favs now because I like this calm, OP MC who is the gong/top btw. I love the relationship between the MC and ML because there’s so much security and trust, and no unnecessary drama. It’s just them teaming up to face slap the villains. Beautiful! Love a lot of the arcs too, but dislike some of the plot holes and the reality arc, hence the lack of star in rating.

Would read again.

Overall, this is a 3 1/2 star rating. It is worth reading, but it is also lacking in many areas. The ML Shou is a bit fiery-tempered, which can get a little annoying at times. Also, the character itself lacks depth. This story could have delved a bit deeper with conflict, but seeing that it was possibly written to be closer to a fluffy world-hopping novel, I can only give 3 1/2 stars. I always feel world-hopping novels need a bit more conflict in order to bring cohesion and satisfaction... more>> by the end of each arc, but this story lacks that. It was a bit too fluffy, but still somewhat enjoyable. I also liked the MC's OP'ness... <<less

A work with seriously low popularity (feel like I barely saw it on any QT rec lists I was checking out) but glad I found it. Enjoyed this a lot!

Only had 2 main gripes about this story: the MC forgets about his previous worlds after leaving each world, making it so that each arc is pretty much starting anew. That means that in each world he goes from the cold iceberg man to slowly falling in love with the ML instead of directly knowing that he's looking for a loved... more>> one from the start. Which does make it more romantic tbh that he keeps falling in love with the same person, kinda confirms their feelings multiple times. There does seem to be some sort of lingering affection in terms of the MC having a slight indulgence or affection for the ML despite losing his memory, making it so that he treats him gently despite his iceberg demeanor. The second gripe is that there's a bit of lack of variety in the arcs, with iirc 2 arcs about palace drama where one has the ML becoming the emperor and one with the MC getting to the throne, and 3 arcs with some variation of cultivation. A lil unfortunate that we didn't get more variety in that.

Otherwise I loved the personality interplay between our MC and ML. Our MC is truly a cold and ruthless person who is OP af and apparently a genius, but when he falls in love with the ML he's so gentle and reassuring despite his stern facade. Our ML is super cute too, the only parts I found slightly more frustrating were in the last arc where he would call the MC his wife playfully. Overall just a fun fluffy story. <<less

I liked this novel. It's a sweet novel. The MC is very mature and the ML is clingy to the MC. MC is usually OP. He has some weird ideas in some of the worlds. Like in one world MC has an older brother who is a lot more OP than MC. In this arc MC has pretty original ideas which makes me feel wow this can be make too. Geniuses are really different. Anyways I just liked it. In some worlds MC and ML were married they were extremely... more>> cute. <<less

This is a very fluffy, 1v1, cute QT novel. For every arc, expect a lot of fluff and dog food from our two leads. One more thing to note, our MC is a very cool gong and our ML is a super cute and sweet possessive shou.

Almost every misunderstanding between them gets solved within minutes due to our MC not allowing any miscommunication, clearing things up from our cute MLs wandering thoughts.

Most of the arcs include a lot of PDA, face-slapping, and more PDA. Its a simple, sweet story that... more>> is absolutely my taste. The romance is very sweet, and no angst to drag things out.

Though they lose memories of each other for every arc, the MC and ML still have subconscious lingering feelings etched deep onto their souls, making them feel familiar and close with one another, despite not remembering each other at all after each world.

Because of this, they fall faster and faster, and honestly, I'm so happy! The dog food came quicker and quicker, satisfying my cravings by a dozen.

I would normally rate such a simple little novel a five-star, simply because they make me very happy. But I had to notch it down to 4-stars only. Mainly because of several little mistakes and plotholes presented by the novel.

First, let's discuss the plotholes. It is said that the MC and ML knew each other in high-school in the first arc.

However, the endings backstory is quite different.
Spoiler

With ML being an orphan that MC supported?

[collapse]

Now, you can just say that it's just the plot of the omegaverse arc (Arc 1). But the MC clearly stated that he knew the ML from high-school onwards and never heard from him again?

Then...

Spoiler

Why do they know each other in the real world at the ending? And why is the ML working under him, saying they met at some gathering instead of meeting each other in high-school?

Oh and in the first arc, which I confidently assume, should be MCs real world replica, because of how the MC referred to it as his high-school years. And its also an omegaverse world, so the MC should have the mindset of a person in the omegaverse world.. right? Like for him, having six genders is completely normal, but only two genders is crazy. Yet he showed no surprise or shock in the next arc. Sure, hes a bit surprised by being in a new world I guess, but he didn't question the gender thing at all? Even if hes a resident of the omegaverse world? Because from all the context I gathered in the first arc, the first arc should be his real world, but as a replica by the system.

But now lets also talk about the ML supposedly having an engagement in the first arc to some crazy old man. In the ending, it is said he wasn't engaged to anyone at all! But clearly, in the first arc, which told the reader that this is MCs real world but he's sorta reborn into his high-school years where he recognised his own body, who only looked a little younger than before. So either MCs memory is messed up, the author messed up, or I missed something here.

This would all be underatandable if the author didn't emphasise that the first arc, or first world, is the MCs real world but several years in the past. But anyway, here we are.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Now moving onto the second little plothole here. The transmigration thing isn't well explained. Even at the ending. All they said was and I quote, he went unconscious after an accident for several months. Now, I might've missed something here, but what was the accident? Oh and it was mentioned that the ML helped him, which is why he appeared in every world.

But how exactly did he help him? I know the MC has to experience life in several worlds that are probably high-tech simulations of sorts to successfully heal, but what kind of injury did he suffer from that unspecified accident to be only healed this way?

Anyway, those details were very vague, with several mistakes here and there.. probably some more plotholes I wasn't able to mention.

[collapse]

Alright, so setting aside some of my complaints for the plotholes I mentioned. I'd like to comment on the readability of this novel. And the translator-kun's efforts. Now, I am thankful for the translator picking up this sweet and wholesome novel, I am truly grateful.

But this novel just isn't proofread enough. One is the pronoun problem. More often that not, the ML and MC gets mentioned as she/her every now and then later on in the arcs. In one arc, the ML was even referred to as she/her more than once before his pronouns were finally corrected to he/him. Not just him, but also the MC. Though, the frequency is a lot lower.

Aside from the pronoun problem, there's the advanced words curse. Some words are deliberately advanced which just makes the text sound s*upid. Parvenus instead of nouveau riche? Sure they're both french, but why deliberately choose the more uncommon one? Not to mention, Parvenus is derogatory, see Oxford Languages for confirmation. Oh and... Itinerant cultivators instead of wandering cultivagors (See Ch. 158, I think.) ? Is the translator trying to make the novel sound more smart or what?

Personally, this is quite annoying as a reader. I don't mind advanced words, I quite like learning them but... sometimes it's just too much and too annoying. Even conversations sound too formal. A few of my favourite novels have this effect, more obvious when the translator changes. Like at first, its an easy to read, casual story with easy~intermediate words with a few added advanced words that just fit the situation. It has the right amount of balance without any of the excessiveness or overuse of advanced words. Then later, you get a bunch of advanced words, formal texts and all that which instantly loses the appeal of the novel. Using advanced words in a novel is okay, for the translator to use those words to convey the meaning better is fine. But it's a double-edged sword. All that sophisticated narrative can either turn into an irritating guy trying to sound smart, or a guy that just makes sense, completely drawing you in to read more.

Ah, but enough of that, I'd also like to comment on some spelling errors, if that's what they're called?

Well, basically...

The MC and MLs names sometimes mix up with other characters names. Or side characters names switching up with other side characters names. Or their surname remains the same, but their first name changes, and vice versa.

It's... annoying, to say the least.

One more thing... there's literally left over raw chinese characters. Like literally.

Did the translator already give up proofreading after hitting the later arcs? It was perfectly fine during the first few arcs!

Oh. Oh and not to mention. Traces of ChatGPT (see Ch. 111, somewhere at the bottom). Look, I don't mind translators using AI to improve their interpretation of the novel. But at least do it right. Even if I saw a "ChatGPT" word under the paragraph, which meant the person clumsily copy pasted it, if they did it right, and by that I mean... have an enjoyable, easy to read kind of novel with good translation, then I won't comment on it. But... ah. I've already written several complains and pointed our several mistakes, which just means... this translation is really, just a notch better than MTL I guess.

Like literal sentences and paragraphs are repeated twice occasionally.

Anyway. To conclude all this, this novel is really cute and fluffy, the worth-a-read kind of novel. There are some plotholes here and there, but they aren't too much of a biggie since this is meant to be a cute and casual BL novel. The only other problem is that the translator sorta left mistakes here and there which is annoying from time to time, but it's tolerable. Despite my many complaints, I'd only rate this one star down due to how sweet the novel is.

Highly recommend for a light read. 👌 <<less

Hello!

I’m not truly the type to make reviews, but if you’re wondering whether to read this or not... then give it a try. I’ve only read the first arc so this might not seem much. However, I find the story thus far interesting and enjoyable.

The characters feel refreshing. Perhaps it is the way the novel is written. I find the read to be smooth. There were parts I chuckled, and parts that I find to be logical. Logic in a stereotypical filled trouped genre is a blessed thing.... more>> However, this isn’t a ground breaking novel. There are still the expected scenarios and troupes. Which isn’t necessarily all too logical... but there is still a semblance of so within the boundaries of its genre.

This isn’t too serious of a read. As the summary suggests, it’s a system type novel with a seme MC. In the first arc, I wasn’t expecting it to be an ABO setting. Even so, it’s not the gender angst I had expected. ABO isn’t usually my type, but the author rarely focused on the setting other than it being small plot points. Other than that, it’s just normal people that happen to have ABO genders. Additionally, ML has a bite to his character that I like.

Anywho, there is mirth in the novel. I’m not literately equipped to form a novel analysis. Overall, I see potential. Main characters are reasonable and contain human flaws. The novel isn’t strict. It’s an enjoyable read with good translations.

Spoiler

One thing that I find curious though is the lack of background. MC was a young and exceptional individual that somehow died young. Somehow, he traveled back in time with a system... only to realize that he was part of a novel? And that’s it... we just kinda jump into the story like that. Then, we restart for the next arc to continue another story. How did the system came to be? Don’t know. I guess we’ll figure it out later.

Oh, oh, oh! This novel is so good. I loved the arcs with their plots and of course the absolutely sweet chemistry between the main characters.

I was surprised by the arc of the Cultural Revolution. It was fresh and unusual.

This is one of those novels that you can re-read many times and get pleasant impressions.

I advise.

I'm not always a fan of this type of cold, domineering ML and clingy MC dynamics, but it works in this story. The ML isn't just cold too everyone except the MC, he's hilariously cold too the MC as well. And he's not just domineering, he backs it up with (admittedly unrealistically good) skills. And the MC is not just clingy, he's clingy but strong. In a sense, he also usually has enough skills and sass so they it doesn't feel like he's just a lucky indulged pet.

And to top... more>> it off, the stories are great. This novel follows my favorite format - give unreasonably plot that wrongs the MC, tell ML to fix it, ML fixes without bothering with original protagonists, except when they come to attack him. There's usually some schemes and interesting plot points. And the ML never seems to act too illogically. He's got an intelligence golden finger, and always exceeds existing limits, but he still gamely lives out each story within their limits.

The ending is a bit abrupt, and the stories don't really have any big moral lesson, but it was all so enjoyable and engaging, and I never lost interest. So this definitely goes into my favorites. <<less

Cute and fluffy with OP MC and fiesty ML. The ML’s original life trajectory were pretty sad as usual but glad MC changed it for him. It was very reminiscent of Beloved Husband but without the sand sculpture MC.

I enjoyed each story and liked the ending although it sort of makes the previous lifetimes seem fake.

the worlds were all virtual worlds programmed by ML so not sure if they are real in terms of actually existing beyond the creator. But it doesn’t really matter since it’s a happy ending and I guess helped the MC gain consciousness

The MC goes through different worlds and his target is to change the ML’s original fate. The ML is the same person in each world but they don’t retain the memories between each world so it’s a whole new story besides remembering his original life. The MC is amazingly good in everything he does to the point where he’s like a perfect person. The MC and ML are very sweet together everytime. Nice fun read.
