Ji An and his boyfriend have been in the zombie world for seven years, living and dying together.

During a mission, they encountered a little girl surrounded by zombies. Ji An and his boyfriend saved her at the risk of their lives and raised her by themselves.

Then when the 18-year-old girl stood in front of Ji An, she did not want to repay him, but to ask him to give up his boyfriend.

Ji An refused, and his superpower crystal core was dug out, and his body was thrown to the zombies.

However, his boyfriend believed that the little girl was true, kind and beautiful. He believed in her flawed statements and did not investigate further. In the end, he even got married to the little girl.

They had been together in the apocalypse for seven years, but never had a wedding.

Fortunately, Ji An was reborn. This time, he would not be seduced by Wen Rou again. He just wanted to live safely in the end of the world. But he was spared by fate and met a man who could trust his back.

I find the story to be quite interesting so far. I appreciate that the protagonist travels back in time, not before the apocalypse, but to a point before his death. The opportunity to witness the lives of those who betrayed him, observe their lifestyles, and experience a sense of retribution is particularly compelling. It's fascinating to see how amazing this character is and how he was underestimated by others. The storyline is truly intriguing.

The last is the real review objectively (this one, second, and third paragraph) that I put first cause the rest are something I wrote subjectively and is a review of my feeling throughout reading this one. Like... this one is good, with good writing and all. Some nonsenses here and there (for ex. ML has thunder and wind at first but then it change to thunder and fire. like how?). The pace is good but some scene might look like being cut of and not related. But actually this amiss... more>> feeling between scenes actually not really important. You might as well say it is the author's style of writing.

Other than that, the world building is cliche like other apocalypse but with author making enemy from real country and emphasize their bad characteristics, you can totally guess from the description alone and some behavior with a bit of hatred mixing from the author himself lol. Then, speaking about description. This one is that type of novel that would describe each scenery MC saw with great detail (like there is rolling orange clouds in the sky, five trees on the left road, a broken hanging lamp that seem to be broken by supernatural ability but I also don't know... that kinda thing. It is, imo, super unimportant and just for the sake of increasing the word count like how I did it on my thesis). So mostly, I just skip the long paragraph and read the important point.

Then, about the characters. The MCs obviously well thought, some side chara as well (like Zhou Qin's story which I copy paste down there) but mostly someone who appear frequently with MCs. The whole charade mostly concentrated to happen in Jing Base so there was barely any new introduced chara. I think this one is good cause well, I don't think MC need to meet new people every few weeks. The big villain.. there is none. At least the problem can be divided into intrapersonal relationship (self grudge and the Zen guy really good at it), national (seems like each base has their own autonomous government), and international. Nah, this international that seem to be the biggest problem but it affect not only MCs but also the whole China. So like... no one really need to defeat in particularly showy way as climax. So yeah, this is one relaxing read and in some chapter I need to take a break cause I got bored. But still good... Tho if you are from the country that being antagonist in this story, you might like it cause it is all true lol. Idk tho about the Korean one (as I haven't read the history between them, tho I have read some article on how similar culture between china and korea).

-------------------------------------------------

Lol. I am not supposed to write this so early. I just arrive at chapter 10.

But I must say... What's Chinese's beef with Japanese 😂 this is the second time I found a Japanese underground experiment in China land with apocalypse tag.

Actually, there was third but the other one is not experimental lab but Japanese invasion after the end of the world.

I sometimes wondering if it's the mistake in MTL but three novel mentioning Japan as the source of atrocities. I usually abide by one coincidence, two bad luck, three intentional.

So yeah, it's the third encounter of Evil Japan🤣

Hahaha lol

Well, things above aside, the writing is quite good. Easy to understand and good in MTL.

Since I just read chapter 10, I still haven't meet ML and still haven't fully grasp MC's personality yet.

But I really can say, this has a good writing style tho too descriptive and I skip reading on some of them👍

I also wish that Tang Ning would stay with MC. She look like a sane mind and resolute woman. Would be a great teammate.

Update: look at this... look at this guys

I don't mean to create international conflict but sometimes we shouldn't take such fiction seriously.

Spoiler

[What MC said after reading the medical record found in underground Japan Lab]

The school where Li Yaozu disappeared was a foreign-funded school invested by the Japanese. Now it seems that the students in that school are all living organs kept by these Japanese. Once these Japanese need to replace their organs, the school will match their organs with the students under the pretext of doing a physical examination, and then select the healthiest one with the highest matching degree from the successful matches

[collapse]

Update: now I really want to know what's happened in history between them...

Spoiler

The underground base is really big. In addition to the human organ removal experiments, these Japanese also conducted super bacteria and other cruel experiments that exceeded the bottom line of humanity.

All the experimental subjects were Chinese without exception, which made Ji An extremely angry

[collapse]

Update: I found another country! this time its United State! Their envoy make trouble first time at the gate to assort dominance and hide some shady things (you guess!!) they plan to use to make China fall. But they failed after meeting MC. Duh, their end was so miserable.

Update: There was Singapore. Then the next who make trouble is Korea! They want to buy kimchi but there was none! Damn lol.

I began to think that author deliberately want to offend those country tralala. Seems like author has certain disdain and hatred towards foreigner. I wonder if my country will make trouble too. But imo my country wouldn't survive apocalypse to begin with. I will watch them from my grave lol.

Update: WOw... the description lol. I began to doubt the MTL...

Spoiler

Tang Tang's words were even more ridiculous than those of the Korean supernaturals. After all, Koreans have always been like that, arrogant, s*upid and unaware, and they like to steal. No matter what it is from Xia Country, they like to steal it back as their own inheritance!

[collapse]

So I really did search the manual translation. But I didn't find the word I was looking for... The words above originally in chinese is this --- 唐糖的话, 比几个泡菜异能者的话还荒唐可笑。毕竟泡菜国人一直那样,傲慢自大,愚蠢而不自知, 还喜欢偷, 不管夏国什么东西都喜欢偷回去当自己的传承!---

I also just recently learn Chinese in Duolingo and reach the part about nationalism. I learn "mei-guo ren" (i don't want to use the mandarin cause it's a pain) means American, "ri-ben ren" means Japanese, and "zhong-guo ren" means Chinese. So when I said above about United State, it was at first referred as M country but then the translation directly said "United State" and I just brush it off. Then, I guess the R country that ride M country's tail would be "ri-ben"? Japanese? Idk.

But this one, I can't find terms for Koreans people. Like, how you see it, after "guo (国) " as in country, you need to add "ren (人) " to refer that said country's people.

In that original paragraph, I only found this "菜国人" which translate from google as Chinese people. So yeah, I am kinda confused where did this Koreans come from...

Edit: I ask Grook and it said

In the original text, "泡菜国人" (literally "kimchi country people") is a derogatory term referring to Koreans, with "kimchi" being a cultural reference to Korea. There isn't a direct, single word in the text that neutrally means "Koreans." The term used is informal and carries a pejorative connotation. If you're looking for a neutral translation, "Koreans" could replace "kimchi country people" to avoid the derogatory tone:

Revised translation:

Spoiler

Tang Tang's words are even more absurd and laughable than those of a few Korean superhumans. After all, Koreans have always been like that—arrogant, foolishly unaware, and fond of stealing. They love to take anything from Xia Country and claim it as their own heritage!

[collapse]

Now I understand why! Well, good to know, it's actually the mistake on my part cause I haven't been able to correctly cut the word to word yet! It should have been four syllable and not three! It was cause I only learn the first part of Duolingo and so far only meet one syllable country. I didn't know you can use such derogatory word for people. I need to get back to my duolingo and learn more!

Update: This simple description is totally correct lmao... (if we relating it with the real one)

Spoiler

The land in M country is barren, and the yield of crops such as grain is low, which is completely insufficient to meet the demand. For hundreds of years, M country has been like this, pursuing banditry. When it can't survive, it robs and starts wars.

White supremacist and their twisted way of thinking (i am totally being bias rn, who cares, I also hate them)

Cruz's eyes were filled with mu*derous intent, and he made a gesture of wiping his neck, "If you can't win him over, just kill him! Such talents must not fall into the hands of the Xia people. Country M is the strongest country in the world and the future world hegemon!"

[collapse]

Update: This is simply degrading but also funny lol

Spoiler

Several superpowers from Country H also received the notice. They were very dissatisfied with it. One of them said, "Free testing is all? Doesn't the Jingshi Base have no responsibility as the organizer?"

"They should have checked all the items in advance. It was their mistake to let the problematic crystal cores enter the market. They should compensate." The psychic who spoke thought of the large amount of supplies earned from the Jing City base, and a greedy gleam in his eyes.

"Yes, we should have been given a year's worth of cabbage each as compensation." The greed in the eyes of those who agreed was no less, if not more.

[collapse]

They really love kimchi indeed.

Update: Kekekeke who is the dog and who is the owner. The author is really daring.

Spoiler

They absolutely do not believe that the iron-clad United States of M would bow to a tiny base in a country!

This is impossible. That is barbaric hegemonism that starts a war at the slightest disagreement!

What basis does the Beijing base have, and what capital does it have to make Country M bow down!

Several H country psychics were so excited that they seemed as if Zhou Qin had just said something insulting to their dignity or country.

[collapse]

Update: I thought it was overdramatic when Zhou Qin willing to die with Gou Chong, but after knowing what he experience, even I will die with him if Gou encounter any danger ----- it was a sad ending

Spoiler

"Why did this happen? How did things between us develop into this!" Zhou Qin didn't know if he was asking himself, Gou Chong, or no one else. "At that time, he rushed into the zombie group to save me. At that time, neither of us had awakened our special powers, but the leader of that zombie group was a level 2 zombie."

Zhou Qin grabbed Ji An's clothes tightly, his face was covered with tears and snot. He was clearly looking at Ji An's face, but it seemed as if he was looking at another person through Ji An's face.

"For us who hadn't awakened our special powers at that time, a level 2 zombie king was like the god of death holding a sickle and taking lives. Sure enough, we were both bitten by zombies, but we still escaped. " Zhou Qin was talking about the past. It was something that happened seven years ago, but he remembered it vividly, as if it happened just yesterday.

"He didn't blame me. He didn't say a word of resentment towards me. He even joked with me that even if we become zombies, we'll still have company." Zhou Qin's voice seemed to overlap with the brilliant person who grinned at him despite being bitten by a zombie that day. "Even if we have to become zombies, we won't be the younger brothers of that zombie king. We'll follow other zombie kings and be the younger brothers of powerful zombie kings. Then we'll bring our new boss back to seek revenge on him."

At that moment, Zhou Qin suddenly felt that being a zombie was not as scary as he had imagined. While waiting to be transformed into a zombie, Gou Chong took out all the supplies that the two of them had worked so hard to protect from being snatched away by others, and told Zhou Qin to eat them quickly. Eat all the food now while you can still taste it. Even if you die, you want to die full. After all, the two of them used to eat carefully and refused to drink even a sip of water. Now they can finally eat until they are full before they die. This is also a kind of happiness.

However, the two of them began to eat voraciously. As Zhou Qin ate, the food in his mouth lost its taste. Later, it tasted like chewing wax and he couldn't swallow a single bite. At the same time, he began to transform into a zombie. Zhou Qin turned into a zombie before Gou Chong. Gou Chong did not stay away from him, but lay head to head with him and just stayed with him.

After a night, Gou Chong turned into a zombie, but his transformation came late and went away quickly. Not long after the high fever passed, Gou Chong awakened his superpowers. He successfully survived and became a superpower person. He will not turn into a zombie again! At this time, Zhou Qin's zombie transformation had become very serious, with almost 70% of his body transformed into zombies, and it was still continuing. He began to lose consciousness and could not control his behavior. He tried to attack Gou Chong and bite him several times.

At this time, the most correct and most friendly thing for Gou Chong to do is to leave Zhou Qin and go away alone. However, Gou Chong did not do so. He blocked Zhou Qin's mouth with some rags, tied a rope around his waist and the other end around Zhou Qin's waist, and started a life of hiding with Zhou Qin. They had to avoid other human companions who were hunting zombies, as well as other zombies. Gou Chong also had to guard against the sudden attack of Zhou Qin, who was transforming into a zombie.

In such a difficult and dangerous situation, when Zhou Qin was almost 100% hopeless, Gou Chong still took him along all the way. I don't know if it was because there was always someone accompanying and taking care of him, whispering in Zhou Qin's ear all day long, disturbing Zhou Qin's nerves and making him unwilling to forget the fact that he was a human being. Zhou Qin miraculously recovered at the last moment and successfully awakened his supernatural powers.

He still remembers that when he woke up, Gou Chong was digging the roots of some unknown grass in the ground with his back to him, and he was tied to a tree not far from Gou Chong. Gou Chong kept talking to him as he dug up grass roots, as if he could understand what he said, "If I had known I could survive, I wouldn't have destroyed everything that day. Now there's nothing to eat. Oh, it's bad luck. The grass roots we found today are all this kind. This kind of grass roots is the worst to eat, especially bitter. The grass roots with round leaves are okay, not so bitter, but harder to chew."

"You're so narrow-minded that you're afraid of being taken advantage of, so you ruin the food." Zhou Qin replied, removing the rag ball stuffed in his mouth.

"Yes, it turns out that people should not be too stingy, they should be generous, otherwise..." Gou Chong was talking when he suddenly realized something was wrong. Just now, it seemed that someone interrupted him. The voice sounded so familiar, it seemed to be Zhou Qin. Gou Chong turned his head suddenly and saw Zhou Qin, who had turned back into a human and was trying to untie the ropes tied around him.

"Old Zhou, Old Zhou, you made it, you made it!" As Gou Chong spoke, his face was covered with tears without him realizing it. He didn't bother to wipe them off and ran over to hug Zhou Qin who was about to untie the rope.

"That's great, Lao Zhou. I thought you wouldn't make it. I'm ready to wander around the world with a zombie companion for the rest of my life." It turned out that from the beginning to the end, Gou Chong never thought that Zhou Qin could survive, but planned to take him with him wherever he went even if the other party turned into a zombie.

"I will never turn into something as ugly as a zombie. I still haven't found a wife in my life, and I still need to find one." Zhou Qin said, tears streaming down his face. "Did you use your brain to exchange for a superpower crystal core? You actually want to walk around with a zombie?"

Gou Chong grinned foolishly, "I've fantasized about it. Don't you think it's cool? Wandering around with a zombie, how cool!"

The memory faded, and returning to reality, there was only the cold ground and cruel betrayal. The person who told him that he would take him with him even if he turned into a zombie was no longer there.

Zhou Qin finally fainted from crying.

[collapse]

The peak bromance there. It was M country's fault! Burn them!

Update: I suspect the author doing research or cruelty in deep web. Even this is the first time I read such vivid gore in chinese novel. A danmei and fluffy (def my own opinion) at that. Also, no, it's not the psychological part or POV that make you feel distressed over the tragic fate of the characters. It's pure description of violence.

Update: This is a very big spoiler but you must not be surprised and keep positive. It happen in chapter 53...

Spoiler

Ji An is death. A literal death.

[collapse]

and oh boy, this guy Gu almost destroy the whole base because he is heartbroken. This scene is so heartwrenching that I become so freaking curious how he meet Ji An. With that level of devotion and past experiences (how I underestimate Zhou Qin's willingness to sacrifice himself for Gou then author dump a literal story in which I react "i will also die for him if I experience that"), I am pretty sure there must be some kind of something happen between them.

Update: The longer this Zen guy exist, the longer I feel this heartburn whenever he appear. Such hateful character. <<less

I enjoyed it at the beginning but the novel started to drag out near the end. The novel is extremely nationalist. Only Chinese citizens have a good ending and most of the villains are traitors to China. The ending also seems very rushed and unsatisfying.

Spoiler

The whole base evacuated to their artificial planet that they built before it was ready because country M sent nuclear bombs. But Country Y cut "the ladder" that made it orbit Earth. So, the story ends with them stuck on a planet heading moving somewhere unknown.

[collapse]

The ending was disappointing since there was no resolution against the people who harmed them. You can extrapolate but I would had liked an extra about how the villains get their due or the happy ever after of MC and ML. The open ending also left some loose ends such as

Spoiler

They found that there were aliens living on Earth who were sent there as prisoners. This never got mentioned again because they had to escape Earth right after and the the story ended. I get that the aliens were supposed to explain MC's reincarnation and why he became a ghost but it's disappointing that something this big is mentioned only as an explanation instead of part of the story.

[collapse]

I felt that the MC is always solving one issue after another and it gets tiring to read about it. There's always cannon fodder challenging ML or MC who get face slapped in a few paragraphs, rinse and repeat. Theres little rest in between like slice of life aspects so I skimmed a lot just to get to the main plot. <<less

Too much Country M X Z y kajgaj are bad, nationalism to the extreme. Too focus on that, Apocalypse every human should help each other survive. This just too dumb and surreal.

I like the most about the Novel is other characters POV. We don't always stuck with MC and ML. ML is literally a block of wood. Yall I am tired of that type.

Zombies are literally non danger, the danger are other people.

MC is the best character, his story is compelling and his creations are interesting, too unrealistic... more>> but sure. <<less

MC is way too OP. He's a super genius (invented a bunch of stuff that save mankind), physically powerful (can take down zombie king), mentally powerful (nobody else is stronger even if their level is higher), can train other superpowers (figures out how spatial superpowers can be used for offense), is beloved by everyone (except some villains for face-slapping purposes) and is gorgeous too.

ML is one of those taciturn people. Doesn't talk much, strong in fighting, great leader, somehow also mentally strong, yields to MC in everything.

Then there's the villains... more>> for face-slapping. Even when the villain is no longer relevant to the story, the author drags them back for another go just to show how much they hate MC and how terrible their lives are now, even though MC is not even on the same base, the villain didn't go looking for MC anymore and is just focused on trying to survive (ex-boyfriend). The girl too. The author keeps dragging her back into MC's life just to show how hateful she is and how miserable her life is.

The story also has very strong nationalistic bias. China is the best, the brightest, strongest, kindest, etc. All other countries are cruel, greedy, pe*verted, racist etc. The story is actually not bad but all the hate detracts from my enjoyment of it. I dropped it more than halfway through. <<less
