After the Secrets of the Passerby Were Leaked, He Was Cherished by the Entire Family of Antagonists

Contemporary college student Ye Leyao died suddenly from staying up late, and found himself transported into a world where several novels merged together, becoming the useless adopted son of the prestigious Huo family.

The good news is that, apart from him, everyone else in the family is a big shot. Eldest Brother Huo is a legendary figure in the business world, Second Brother Huo is a top actor in the entertainment industry, and Third Brother Huo is a skilled esports player and boss.

The bad news is, these big shots are all antagonists, and none of them have good endings.

Even worse news is that, upon waking up, he finds himself in the middle of a cheap romance involving Second Brother, who is oblivious to the fact that the child in his lover’s belly isn’t his seed at all!

Ye Leyao couldn’t help but scream inwardly: “Aaaaaahhhh—seriously? This romance-idiot still doesn’t know the child in his lover’s belly isn’t his?!”

All eyes in the family suddenly turn towards him. The second brother even stumbles.

Everyone: What?!

The top-tier Huo family adopted a young troublemaker some years ago.

Initially, nobody in the family paid him any mind. That is, until they could all hear Ye Leyao’s inner thoughts—

Just as Father Huo brings his down-and-out friend home.

Ye Leyao’s inner voice: “Oh, so this is the little seductress trying to seduce Father Huo, plotting to make Mother Huo and Father Huo divorce, and wrecking the Huo family?”

Father Huo’s pupils dilate: “!”

That night, before Ye Leyao can subtly hint to Mother Huo, the little seductress is personally “thrown” out by Father Huo.

During breakfast at home, Eldest Brother Huo takes a video call discussing crucial shipment matters with his assistant.

Ye Leyao perks up his ears, muttering to himself: “Why do I vaguely remember a typhoon changing course to pass through this route in a few days? Big Brother’s business deal is definitely going down.”

Eldest Brother Huo: “…”

He immediately changes the shipping route with his assistant. Sure enough, five days later, news came that the original route was hit by a typhoon.

Afterwards, Eldest Brother Huo transfers five million into Ye Leyao’s account. Ye Leyao is astonished.

Eldest Brother Huo tries to remain composed, saying calmly, “Take it, you’ve earned it.”

Third Brother Huo isn’t home often. After the league ends, he brings his newly recruited team members home for dinner. Just as they enter the house, Ye Leyao stares keenly at his new teammates.

Third Brother Huo is about to warn Ye Leyao against premature romance, when he hears Ye Leyao whispering in his mind: “They’re handsome alright, but unfortunately, they’re moles sent by the rival team.”

Third Brother Huo: “!!!”

That night, Third Brother Huo begins investigating and not only discovers that the new teammates are moles from the rival team, but also finds out that his most trusted assistant has been secretly gathering data on their team!

A week later, another ten million appeared in Ye Leyao’s account.

Ye Leyao, holding the money happily: “Third Brother, you’re more generous than Big Brother!”

Just then, Eldest Brother Huo passes by: “…”

As a supporting character in the novel, Ye Leyao’s biggest dream is to save up money and flee with his family of antagonists when they hit rock bottom. Little did he expect that all these villains in his family would not only avoid disaster but thrive in their careers, and he would end up soaring with them.

This story is SO much deeper than a lot of the low raters understand. Those who dropped this before reaching the end have no idea just how deep the connection between all these characters are, nor do they understand just how awesome of a main character Leyao is. Honestly, for the first 90 or so chapters this is just a sweet, light hearted story about a loving family of melon eaters. They love gossip just a little less than they love each other.

As the story progresses there are little hints... more>> here and there that things with Leyao are not quite what they seem, but I was not at all prepared for how deep the plot twist was. When I tell you, the last few main chapters of this story had me ugly crying. I rarely cry at novels or movies or anything, but I was fully sobbing. Considering how lighthearted the whole novel had been up to that point, the sudden emotions were like a gut punch. The story has a happy ending, don't worry, but those last ten chapters really highlight why that journey to happiness was so incredibly hard for everyone to achieve. I really have to praise this author for the plot twist and the emotions packed into the last chapters.

Really, I want to beg people to ignore all the misguided review bombs and give this novel a chance. It is so worth it and it is so much deeper than it appears to be. <<less

I completely gave up when it got to Zhang Qiran. He literally did nothing wrong, unlike most of the other antagonists. He was misunderstood and in love and I just want to hug him honestly. He gets his feelings broadcasted on live TV, and everyone he's surrounded by just laughs at him instead of comforting him for being outed while under the influence of alcohol. Throughout the narrative it's treated like a juicy piece of gossip, but put yourself in Zhang Qiran's shoes. You unknowingly confess your feelings on live television for your rival, and the entire world is mocking you now. It's so cruel. And they downplay it throughout the entire arc and it's just terrible to read.

Honestly, this story has quite a high potential, this all because the plot itself is fairly new and brings a lot of fresh feeling.

But, even when we start to enter the middle of the story, this story still has not found the meeting point about "what is actually the reason for this story exists"

I mean, the main plot isn't even visible at the middle lf the story, and not to mention the fresh impression at the beginning of the story is also starting to fade, it's all because they keep... more>> repeating the same formula which make it not fresh anymore. Entering the final arc, the main storyline finally becomes more clearer, Its just that the final arc is not really that great. This is because the genre which suddenly changes (Author suddenly make MC as a system), too many side characters that don't really need to be there, and the last is because the author himself seems confused about how to manage his own story, this can be seen from how many characters that she/he wrote are depicted inconsistently.

The most common example is Liu Yan boyfriend who was always emphasized as an ordinary normal person, only to suddenly become a celebrity and make her debut.

the point is that the final arc of this story is completely failure, which ultimately making this story getting drags down as a whole. <<less

Dropped.

Am I reading a series of face slapping cases only, or a BL one with love involved????

The real communications between MC and other charas (exclude via reading minds) are sooooo minimum.

... more>> Pls note that MC didn't know that everyone can hear his mind/comments.

Almost like one way communication only, bcs the MC usually keep silent to watch the dramas and just commenting the plot in his head bcs he doesn't want everyone to know that ke knows what comes next. MC, his fams, and ML, love to watch irl dramas only. No real feeling cultivations between them beside as to become a bunch of grannies who loves to gossip.

How can ML fell in love at this point?? Already around ch 40-ish too?? I don't understand. I feel like I'm still on 1/5 part of the novel lmao.

Too much face slapping (yea bcs his world is consisted of many dog blood worlds combined), but that makes the relationship between the MC and other charas are stuck. Bcs the plot heavily just focus on the dramas, face slapping, and MC comments that everyone wants to hear to.

Just imagine, if you remove MC mind reading comments. Then MC can be said to almost said nothing the entire time. Maybe just around 5 sentences in one arc of face slapping.

Hayyahh good plot idea but bad excecution <<less

Was interested in this novel from the premise, but got caught up in the ED discussion in the reviews and wanted to give some insight. I have an ED, so I thought maybe someone might like to hear what someone with it has to say.

First off I don't know the other author's intent. Could they be trying to make fun of EDs, I have no idea. I personally don't think that's the case, but I didn;t even read the actual story. If anything the author came off as insensitive and... more>> ignorant of EDs. I could see this being hurtful to some people with EDs, even if it's not specifically targeted towards them. I have been hurt by comments and stories about "bad" behaviors similar to my ED, but that's something I know to avoid ya know?

Second, is it an ED? Not really. There's some nuance here. It's actually pretty interesting to actually think about. I would consider what has been described at a sort of disordered eating for sure. However eating disorders seem to all have a lack over behaviors and thoughts regarding the eating itself, that I think this situation lacks. From my understanding the character overeats on a performative basis only. And only purges after these performative overeating sessions. With binging in terms of eating disorders, there is a lack of control. There is no intent to overeat. If this were a real world situation it likely wouldn't be diagnosed as an eating disorder. You could maybe put it as an Atypical Bulimia, but that's a bit of a stretch. Again it's hard to say since this isn't a real world case. It's very similar to EDs.

Third, the intent seems to be the character is question is a fake. In a way she is acting superior over the other actress with her lie. It's like always saying how you have naturally clear skin to a buncha people who have to worry about breakouts and intense facial treatments daily, when you're secretly on a heavy-duty prescription anti-acne medicine. It's also very 'I'm not like other girls~' coded.

In any case... the character is choosing to active damage their body to maintain an image, whether or not you think that should make exposing such a behavior is more mean-spirited than exposing a hypocritical behavior that doesn't actively harm the body.... is up to the reader.

TLDR;

The ED thing is like exposing to the whole world that someone known for their large breasts secretly pads their bra a ton by pulling out the pads and waving them around. In my opinion as someone with a real world ED, the story does not describe what could be considered an ED. You could say people with EDs were potentially collateral damage however. All in all sounds like a pretty mean thing to expose like that.

apologies this just got me thinking and wanted to share my thoughts. I'm a bit of rambler. <<less

It was such a light-hearted read. I couldn't stop laughing with all the melon eating.

Unfortunately, the part before ending was.... dissapointing... and unnecessary.

Spoiler

The system plot was out of left-field and sooooo unnecessary. It really made me feel off about the whole book.

I am dropping this novel after the incredibly unkind words towards someone with anorexia. Eating disorder is already a huge issue in entertainment industry. They were treating it as a joke in this.
Spoiler

One of the actress has anorexia and forces herself to vomit out everything she eats. The main characters treat it as a joke and call her behaviour as "wasting food". They belittle her for it and make a joke out of her. People with eating disorders cannot help it. If you know anyone with such behaviour, don't do what the characters are doing ot you'llend up with someone you care for in a hospital.

I would recommend you guys to read the book called "I'm glad my mom died" by the actress Jennette McCurdy. It gives you glimpse into how horrible eating disorders develope and destroy lives.

Mtled a few chapters and while they are not difficult to read, I'm preferring the tled chapters more. Came to review the story before completely reading it because for now, I can guess where it's going and also because of that one complain people have about a side character with "bulimia".

Side character does not have bulimia. She does not have an eating disorder. She has set up a persona where she eats a lot and is always hungry but never gets fat because of her constitution. However, the reason she... more>> never gets fat is because she just forcefully pukes it all out. Is it wasting food? Yeah. Because she doesn't enjoy eating it, she doesn't feel hungry when she's forcing herself to eat so much, and she's not compelled by her brain to keep filling herself with food. Nobody is forcing her to eat either. It's just a persona and she wants the money associated with the fame this persona will bring. It's not a psychological problem, more like a moral one. She knows she's going to vomit, she doesn't want to eat it, she's not being forced, but she must eat to be extra.

Bulimia nervosa is when a person eats because they are hungry and then they puke it all out due to sensitivity towards comments about body weight/figure/appearance/dieting/eating etc. They are shamed into puking out the food they needed to eat. This character, on the other hand, eats to establish supremacy (owo I'm not like others I can't gain weight huhu) and isn't even hungry/compelled to eat. It's called food wastage.
Spoiler

this girl literally forced herself to eat the food enough for 3 grown men and then also went to make ramein that she took half an hour to eat because she was not hungry at all. She wasted the food they could've saved as leftovers, just for some attention. Imagine if you and your friends go to a restaurant, order food and then one of you keeps eating up everything that's left saying "y'all so weak, you are too focused on dieting, I don't diet", when who'd thought of packing up the leftovers and taking them home to eat when you're hungry. Then that person waits till everybody is gone to puke it all out. I'd get so angry.

[collapse]

If you love eating melons and like humorous stories, then this is for you. If you want a great plot, this just isn't it. The plot is kinda new but also not. It's hilarious but some things are pretty repetitive. However, the writing style is pretty good. <<less

also, the side characters are all memorable as well, shout out to them all. All their “plot lines” as well executed and ends everything satisfyingly.

At first, I thought this would just be another brainrot read, some scenarios were honestly a little unhinged and made no sense at all. I was convinced it was one of those chaotic, s*upid-but-interesting stories (which it totally was sometimes). But despite all that, it turned out to be surprisingly fun and engaging... still brainrot, but the good kind.

The early chapters pulled me in with their charm—I had such a good laugh. The middle part dragged a bit though, not gonna lie, I did skip a few paragraphs. But then... more>> the final chapters hit with a complete 360, and I was absolutely hooked.

Huo Yan easily stood out the most for me. I liked all the characters, but he had the most depth and felt way more compelling than the actual main leads. I'd love to see more of him and Feng Rui, their dynamic deserves more attention.

Would 10/10 recommend. This story put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. Huge thanks to the translator for bringing this to us! <<less

Spoiler

A female guest in a variety show has a persona of being a foodie who eats a lot and makes mukbangs but actually she's been inducing vomit behind the scenes.

[collapse]

I understand that this should be a... social cultural thing. It's an act that's prominently seen in Chinese and Korean communities, mostly by women as a way to "maintain" their figure. Unfortunately, it's not easy to change a mindset that's been set through generations.

The main part is how the author writes about it. There's a heavy bias that seeps through their writing. To be specific, it's about wasting food. Well, I agree that inducing vomit is wasting food. But this is clearly not just a simple "wasting food" act. The way the scene was written was lacking deeper understanding and empathy.

I get mad at mukbangers who do the act of eating a lot just to throw it all up later. But the scene overall felt so cold and lacking in empathy for me and made it uncomfortable to read. It was dismissed with merely people laughing at the guest and saying she was wasting food. Of course she's accountable for her actions bc she rlly did waste food but it would've been better if there were further insights regarding that scene such as cultural, psychological, and weight management issues. Well, the entertainment industry in CN and KR are really strict with weight but just because it's the norm doesn't mean it's a good thing. This could've been an opportunity for the author to write a more profound perspective regarding this issue.

Instead, it was finished with just people laughing and blaming that guest. I'm still reading but I just had to comment on it because I really felt bad during that scene. This is a person's health you know? It doesn't come off funny when knowing how it may cause physical and mental issues... <<less

Absolutely one of my favorites ever of all time now. I started for the hilarious melon eating moments and left with some tears and smiles.

A fresh plot, till the ending.

The romance is quite slow paced, but melons keep us occupied.

I especially love how MC's family was included in his charades almost every time (which we usually don't see in other plots - where we only get to see the leads and the concerned to that particular plotline would be present when something is happening).

Honestly, for me it was a good read at first especially with all the face-slapping the s*umbags got. But then it got to the eating disorder part and I started questioning the novel but I still felt that the character did kinda ask for it when she ate more than she could. And she’s an actress so she should know how harsh the circle was going to be once she was found out. So I let it go.

Then, it got to the disable tycoon part, and I just felt that... more>> the whole situation was just sad. Like maybe because I’ve also experience unrequited love and decided to put myself in the character shoe but I felt that the whole family reaction was extremely harsh.

Spoiler

So basically, the plot of the disable tycoon was that he has a lame leg. And due to low self-esteem, he never confessed to the person he liked in highschool. And his white moonlight moved overseas or something so after years of not seeing his white moonlight, he got a substitute to act like the white moonlight.

Of course, the substitute doesn’t treat this as anything real, just a job. And he’s treated rather well. Like the disable tycoon doesn’t ask that the substitute sleep with him, just that when he’s with him, he acts more like the white moonlight. And he’s paying good money for it too. So the substitute knew what he was in for and agree to do it.

But basically, the white moonlight got together with the substitute, which honestly, I’m totally ok with coz just coz you like someone doesn’t mean they have to like you back.

And I know that that’s pretty s*upid move on the disable tycoon part because why would you use money to hired someone to act like the one person you like? Even if they act the same, etc. they still wouldn’t be the same person.

But, what got me feeling annoyed was the way the whole family was holding back laughter at every little thing. Like the white moonlight didn’t remember who the tycoon was so he asked him, “I’m sorry but who are you.” Or some version of that idk coz I was mtling it. And the family was like trying their best to hold back their laughter like damn...

And then, the substitute left and the white moonlight ask the tycoon for the substitute number and the whole family was trying their “best” to hold back laughter again.

I’m sorry but what’s so funny? When this man unrequited love just got crushed in so many ways.

[collapse]

Like I get being nosy and wanting to watch the show with a front road seat but this man wasn’t even a villain, villain at this point in time and didn’t even do anything to them or the substitute. He wasn’t doing anything disgusting like stepping on two boat at the same time. He literally just have an unrequited love and probably decided that he’ll probably never be together with his white moonlight coz of low self-esteem. So he decided to hired an actor to idk live out his fantasy not thinking that his white moonlight would actually show up. That’s just sad to me.

Then this thought was confirm when his white moonlight didn’t even remember him and the whole family was over here laughing their ass off at his situation. Like hello? 👋🏻 where did your empathy go?

Like idk about other people but if I was in that situation (as the spectator) in real life, I’d be feeling so awkward. Coz I’m just sitting here and I know about this man’s unrequited love for his white moonlight’s who’s asking him about someone’s else phone number. I’ll probably be like damn... that one is gonna hurt for awhile. And not laugh my ass off coz this isn’t some tv show and it’s a person real life.

Like I haven’t read the rest but it’s probably gonna be something like the tycoon turned into a jealous villain, doing everything in his power to split the MC and his ML up. Coz this novel is probably gonna give the tycoon a BE coz why else would the whole family be laughing at his situation otherwise? Like the author probably thinking that it’s a laughable matter and I can’t get on with that.

And just the whole novel was getting repetitive with the exposing secrets and the family being there to watch the fun. Like yes it was funny at first but it got mid coz of how repetitive it was. There’s nothing new to it. <<less

4/5

I'll rate it four since I enjoyed the first 20 chapters. But the remaining chapter after the cheated twins gossip became boring in my opinion.

I only enjoyed the gossips when it's his family who's envolved. Plus I thought this would be like multiple-novels-in -one-novel that envolves his brothers as the villain just like he said previously... But now the gossips/topics turns to the inrelated people, passerby and side characters.

This is what actually puzzles me, because he was supposed to know novels that he previously read but how come he even... more>> know the gossips on random passersby. This makes me feels weird... They're not even MC or ML of their own novel, just literally random passersby.

I reached Chapter 33 out of 40 something available translated chapter and haven't evem reached 1/3 mark of the sypnosis. I need more gossips but passerby gossips don't excites me enough.

Still highly recommended because this is really funny lol.

Spoiler

Not a spoiler... On the side note, this novel reminds me of that one concubine that got a gossip system. And the only one who can hear her inner thoughts is the Emperor. And the Emperor is also impotent (got cured tho)... Anyone who knows what's the title of this? I wanna leave a review there as well lol. Thanks.

Go gossip with me and my family who I don't know that they can eat melon because of telepathy. But... I'm not a human!?

Now this is the discussion about That girl who brought the minus stars to this novel

Those who didn't read it yet and don't want to get spoiled go away immediately!

Ok, let get start!

I read the comments and I see many people have negative feelings with That girl who wasted food. So, as one of Asian girls, I would like to say something.

First of all, when I read that chapter I also confused about this too and I thought, you have to give her this hard time?

But after I think again I just have these questions.

- Is this girl need to wasted food?

- For popularity you don't have anything that better than this to do?

And then I'm also dissatisfied this girl too.

Why? Because it's our cultural that even little boys or girls know that we shouldn't wasted food!

From childhood, we learnt that food is important, there are many poor and helpless people who suffer from hungry and we shouldn't treat food as toys.

You may think that I or MC or the other characters might thinking too much or whatever but if I was in that place, I would definitely give her a good talk too!

We just wanted her to stop that behaviour and as an influencer, she should just change her way, apologised and started a new, to be a positively idol.

She's NOT an anorexia or had Eating disorder, okay people? ❤️ <<less

There was some highly contentious 'gossip' moments that I did not agree with as other reviewers have said.

Otherwise, letting people get slapped in the face by their own actions was very liberating to read.

Laughed my ass off for most of the first 70-80 chapters. Cried like a fountain for the ending.

Most of the plot holes were filled nicely, I thought the foreshadowing was fairly light but acceptable, side couples and characters were engaging and well written. <<less

I honestly liked this at first. Fresh take on this genre, very comedic, I did laugh a lot.

But then, as many reviewers mentioned, MC basically because an incendiaire jerk that is purposely using people’s weaknesses for gossip and entertainment. He was pushy with his gossip, never considering how that might make people feel. I do feel for the girl that made herself vomit after every meal, but what made me really rethink this whole novel was the “Zhang Quran” (guy that had a crush on Song Zhehan) and “Yu bai”... more>> (two timer with both male and female). He didn’t care that his love for gossip could hurt people, didn’t care about the guy and the girl that got cheated on feelings, and didn’t care about Zhang Qiran that basically exposed himself in front of all the viewers. The next day he directly went to pester him for gossip. And of course all these people are never mad at MC, or Qin Yao (ML). It doesn’t matter how powerful ML is, he doesn’t have the right to command people’s downfall like that. At first, tho they knew the panel of guests was problematic, at least the drama would come by itself. Afterwards it was basically them screaming together to exploit people’s feelings for gossip and views. And I didn’t really like how no one, not even the parents or brothers, were rational enough to stop him. I’m just really mad honestly cause this story had a LOT of petential <<less

It was fun to read initially but it got repetitive after a while, and sometimes, I didn’t morally agree with how they were eating melons. Ending arc was also not enjoyable to read. Refer to boricats’ review for negative points.
