After the Tyrant Differentiated into an Omega

Nero, the disabled and ruthless villainous tyrant Alpha in the famous tragic novel The Passion of the Holy Son, wakes up to find himself bound to a system.

System: Maintain your tyrant persona + accumulate Hatred Points from the protagonist tops + be killed by the joint efforts of the protagonist tops to complete the task. Failure will trigger a random plot punishment.

Nero: …

Nero: Oh.

To complete the task as soon as possible, Nero brings his targets back to the capital in advance.

For instance, he finds Big Boss A in a dangerous exile, pardons his crimes, and pushes him step by step to a commanding position, yet demands his Omega sister as a trade for status, deeply humiliating Big Boss A.

He rescues Big Boss B from the prison cage of star pirates and forces him to wear the empire’s most elite heavy armor to fight the hardest battles, never showing him a kind face in the imperial court.

He takes away Big Boss C when everyone scorns him, but sends him to the front lines with ample scientific resources, denying him the luxury of being the empire’s prime minister.

As for Big Boss D, who grew up with Nero, he initially doesn’t know how to provoke his hatred.

Until he discovers that every time the Holy Son, the protagonist bottom, blesses him with a kiss, the Hatred Points of the big bosses soar.

So he immediately hooks the Holy Son’s neck, deciding to get more kisses from the protagonist bottom.

System, weeping with joy: Host, the Hatred Points are skyrocketing! This host is amazing.jpg

Nero is also very satisfied: Holy Son, very useful.jpg

The day the Hatred Points finally maxed out, the system was happily preparing to wrap things up. However, the key plots of revenge and defeat had not occurred.

The silver-haired emperor stood atop the peak of the mecha, proudly overlooking the defeated invaders. His crimson cloak was drenched in blood, yet it shone a million times brighter than the sun of Delphi.

System: …How could this happen! Major plot deviation warning! Random plot punishment warning!

Nero smiled: What kind of punishment will it be, I wonder?

Just as he finished speaking, his differentiation period ended.

Confirmed countless times by the imperial medical officers to be the future powerful Alpha of the empire, the emperor silently and stoically differentiated into a top-tier Omega amid the fervent gazes and cheers of billions of subjects.

Secret pheromones wafted down from the throne. Four pairs of seemingly submissive eyes suddenly widened.

—In their eyes, a scarlet thirst appeared.

You are the rose on the high branch

You are the molten gold in the fire

One day I will use the most extravagant golden chains

To imprison you in the cage that belongs to me.

The only reason why I can't give it 5 stars, and instead 4 stars (4.5 actually), is because this is a love pentagon. 4 MLs, all in love with our dear emperor MC. It sounds a lot more complicated than it looks, considering this is also under Yaoi, which means there's is r18 scenes. It becomes even more glaringly obvious when said characters get introduced to you. I'm a romantic at heart, and monogamous as well, so knowing the fact that MC f*cks all the MLs at least once before/after... more>> becoming an omega and then staying with his true ML doesn't sit well with me. If you don't like that, I rather you don't read this book unless you move past that fact.

Adding onto that is the fact that if you strip this book down to it's very core, it's very... Plain. Dynamic isn't so far off since MC is the emperor but that line gets blurred and somewhat even when he becomes omega.

Spoiler

MC is emperor with a shitty past and is trying to rebuild his kingdom. To do so he needs help from 4 MLs (whom are topping him). First ML is a wolf knight who has undying loyalty to MC as he is MC's childhood friend and is puppy like. Second ML introduced is a cold tsundere genius war knight whoes family perished due to MC's father. Third ML is a beefy gladiator s*ave who even though is puppy like as well, is the only one with dark skin and a barbarian like past. He gets saved by MC. Last ML is a tech genius who's talents look amazing when compared to the kindgom's advancing technology.

[collapse]

When I say it like this to you, it sounds extremely troupey/stereotypical. because 2/4 of these MLs gets saved by MC. By process of elimination, you can deduce who will be true ML, cause common as is, Saviour/Savee has no true way of actually being a dynamically equal couple (if that's what Author is trying to accomplish)

Now onto fangirling:

"Our family crest is Silver leaf Rose, born from fire. The flames burn our skin, drain the moisture from the buds, and scorch the leaves to ashen white. But they can never corrode our roots and bones."

- Emperor to his Son, Nero

The MC, having his family being completely massacred, leaving him and his bodyguard to run for many years before coming back to take a throne, is a mentally powerful person who is riddled in scars and dried blood. His revenge to bury the people who took part in his family crashing down is not the only thing that defines him; his lineage and the education he learnt from his time as a prince defines him. As a tyrannical emperor, he believes everything under him is his; every general, soldier, commoner, omega/alpha are all his. Why? Because he is the sole king that will rise.

That's where his arrogance and belief comes from, his undying confidence in him becoming Emperor. To you, it might seem shallow, but for him who had to lose his family and dignity, this is the only things he can cling to to remember his dead family by. The way the author writes him is insane, the characterisation - when he mercilessly tore apart the man who tried to strangle him in his mental pond -, the way he treats his people - rough but not unkind -, the love and ideals he has for his country, and the flaws/cracks he shows to his most trusted and friend.

MC, who even though is emperor, feels human. He doesn't feel 2d, he feels life-like. And that's why I love him so much. As a person you wouldn't agree 100% with the way he deals with things, but you understand why. Because he has to.

The author's way of writing is interesting, immersive and intellectual. It doesn't make you feel dumb, it makes you feel like the world is coming to life. They include excerpts, sayings, proverbs that aren't true to our real world but to the story's world, and that adds on even more to the world building. The novel is well written, with poetic descriptions about each character's feelings, situation and appearance, and the world + infrastructure building is amazing, as the kingdom is being built from the bottom up again; reformed in a good way. The concept of MC using the system for his own interests is also a plus.

All of this makes the troupes and love pentagon feel more easier and fun to read.

Anyways, I love this book.

Edit: As of 227, I finally realised who the ML is, and I just wanted to say, why TT^TT I was rooting so hard for the knight but I understand :") <<less

This was solid trope-y good fun - I was on the fence about reading because of some of the reviews, so I'll add my 2 cents~

-Characters and world-building are fun, and well-done, but also don't break out of their tropes. You know what you're getting here if you've read in the genres before, but it's executed pretty well. The imagery and details make it a fast-paced, cinematic read - the wolf knights, and the mecha designs, and little Nero looking at the Rose Galaxy stayed with me.

-Nero is also a... more>> great kick-ass main character; I particularly liked the way the story handled his long-term injuries/disabilities,
Spoiler

in that the trope where system points being redeemed to heal his crippled legs actually has zero impact on his actions - there's no miraculous healing plot, and he does actually have to deal with day-to-day issues with his legs throughout the story, even though there's tech that let's him walk for periods of time as well.

[collapse]
The scenes with little Nero are also suitably heart-rending.

-It's definitely written with multiple possible love interests, but per the author's own summary warnings ends 1v1 after an extremely long slowburn. Dawna_aiko's review is a bit misleading, as actual bedding with each of the love interests doesn't happen.
Spoiler

Sexually charged scenes definitely do - the most intimate being some handjobs with the White Wolf Knight- but full, consensual s*x only happens with the actual husband in the end. That will be a plus or minus depending on the reader, but I'm glad the author clearly labelled it 1v1, because the story definitely teases full harem.

[collapse]
From the first third of the story, I was maybe expecting something a little smuttier than what it ended up being- there's a lot of tension and pent-up imaginings from the MLs in the story, but it pretty much stays at that level, with only some real explicit scenes near the end. 95% of the story is, as per the author's summary, the business of battling for MC's empire and a loooot of a vinegar filled harem fighting for his favour XDD.

-Each of the love interests is very well set up, with a different type of relationship with Nero, and with distinct character designs - they'd translate very nicely into a visual novel for sure XD. Part of the fun is kind of guessing who the real main lead might be, and the comments sections made me laugh too. I wasn't unhappy with who MC ended up with
Spoiler

those who aren't into brother-con territory might be repelled though, though it isn't actual in*est, but I appreciated he was the one ML who always tried to keep Nero's best interests and happiness first above his own desires

[collapse]
, but tbh, the story devoted enough time and development to two other love interests that ending up with all of them might have made the most sense. After all, a harem of alphas... what else should happen after the tyrant differentiates into an omega??? <<less

Entertaining and satisfying read so far. The MC is likeable and the MLs are all quite respectable. I love the concept of the OG character keeping their body and stealing the system instead of having their body taken over by a transmigrator

Alright, I've been putting off writing this review, not because there was anything bad or wrong about this book but more on the fact that I love it too much and almost become crazy passionate when talking about it.

But before I start I first need to address the reviewer who stated that the MC sleeps with all the ML before choosing the Main ML, honestly, I have no idea what book you were reading but it wasn't this one. The MC only sleeps with the Final ML and no one... more>> else. I want to make it clear because I hate misleading comments, I have nothing against a harem Novel, in fact, I've indulged in a few but I also understand that it isn't everyone's cup of tea so I don't want other readers to be put off a really great story because of a misunderstanding.

Anyway, rant aside, The Novel is less about love and the love interests and more about the MC coming to terms with his past and also of course, good old-fashioned revenge. It's also about his need for unity and family and because of that his final choice for a ML makes complete sense. At first, I wasn't too convinced and a bit disappointed (Because I had my own favourite) but after finishing the Novel and having everything be digested, I completely understand why the MC chose that ML and he definitely found the a perfect fit.

Are there some things I wish I could change of course, but overall a very enjoyable and blood pumping story filled with happiness and sorrow. <<less

review written for chapter 227 and below

A surprisingly decent sci-fi omegaverse novel. I wouldn't go in with expectations of romance, however. Because even on chapter 227, there's been very little mutual hints at it. Most of it is one-sided lust.

What to expect?

  • There's face slapping but it's not egregious
  • If you like infrastructure genre aka basically the MC re/building a city or whole ass country, dealing with governance, etc., then you might like this novel. There's a lot of that here.
  • There's also a lot of mecha action.
  • There's also zergs, which is a genre I'm not too familiar with personally. I've managed to guess that it's something akin to omegas from the ABO genre except they're aliens??? Possibly "bug" aliens??? With emphasis on pregnancy???
  • If you like love pentagons? (penta for 5?) this might be up your alley.
  • If you like jealous suitors, you'll absolutely love this.
  • If you've got a weakness for bodyguard and/or knight romance stories, you may or may not like this. I loved it--the closeness they have, how he always (physically) carries the MC!
    Spoiler

Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of their romance "arc" since it's mostly about ML's lack of control and MC's complete lack of social awareness. It's mostly written for comedic effect. But after a certain point, it kinda just becomes pathetic and pitiable, and then frustrating because the author just won't stop. And imo, I wanted more backstory for this ML--backstory that doesn't involve the MC, since the "bodyguard program" they have for him (and the other bodyguards) isn't at all healthy. He felt less like a character and more like a "bodyguard" and "childhood friends" trope all-in-one but without ever fully committing to it.

    [collapse]
  • There's also comedy and generic romcom stuff (?). I liked the author's sense of humor, but I didn't find the latter funny. I can't find weaponized incompetence and male jealousy funny, not when it's constantly thrown in your face and not when it's the MC who has to pay for and endure their incompetence. Frankly, that's far too close to real life for me to find funny.
The novel starts off as very different from typical ABO novels, but past a certain point--especially around the 200s--it really dives straight into those ABO tropes that I hate. So it turns out to be your typical ABO novel but it just has a little more thought put into the background stuff and the focus for much of the novel isn't the romance.

CW: racism

Spoiler

There is an uncomfortable undercurrent (actually, it's pretty blatant if you know anything about racism) of racism in regards to another ML: Asaga. He's dark-skinned, huge body/muscles, has a big dick, is not very intelligent (when first introduced) (he's actually very intelligent but emotionally dumb)... He's the giant with the heart of gold and is often written as "cute" by the author (his body is also sexualized later on (and iirc, without his knowledge/consent)).

But he still must be "civilized" by the MC.

And then there's the master/s*ave dynamic they have that is also blatantly pointed out in the text. To be fair, I think their master/s*ave dynamic is written more as D/s relationship. But that doesn't change the fact that he was once ens*aved and that it's Asaga who seems to prefer that dynamic. The MC only plays into it once he realizes that's what Asaga wants/needs from him. This could've been explored in a trauma-informed way, but the author isn't interested in that so, unfortunately for Asaga, it has some unfortunate implications when mixed with everything else.

The fact that he's part zerg further adds to Asaga's "otherness".

And lastly, predictably, the author spends the least amount of time with him compared to the other MLs.

[collapse]

About how the author writes the MLs: after a certain point, they come off as very one note because the author seems to love writing about male jealousy. If the ML's attempts to gain the MC's attention resulted in an interesting scene, perhaps these scenes wouldn't be so boring and frustrating to read.

Considering the backstories the author created for them, this is very unfortunate. I think the story as a whole suffered because of this, because all the MLs had so much potential for more. But I also think that if the author had spent more time on the characters, it would add too much on the author's plate. Maybe the author shouldn't have written a love pentagon and just focused on a few characters. Or maybe the author should've reworked the plot to fit it all in.

Am I expecting too much of the author? I guess I am. I feel that the author was ambitious but maybe got scared by the huge amount of work involved. It's an entertaining enough novel without the "romance, " but the loss of details and concentrated attention could unfortunately detract from the overall positive experience.

The story gets better as u reach the climax. Probably despite the lengthy story, it skips some important scenario/fails to give conclusion to some part. I want this to be a harem bc of MC. He looks cute to be bullied since he's proud, especially with the wild inner thoughts of the MLs and when they eat the MC's tofu, but the lengthy narrative plot suddenly dampens those excitements 🤧 However, I eventually get used to it and it becomes plot-focused which is better.

Downside:

>MC planned to divulge the sins of his ancestors and announce his partner but the story ended before they happen.S

>Story didn't mentioned what will happen to the system afterwards (will it be trapped or will return back) and the story about its origin is lacking, it only mentioned "from a higher civilization".

>Lastly, there are some changes of what should be in the story

Spoiler

The Holy Son mentioned that some higher civilization might have the human helped trapping him but it suddenly changed.

Also, it is mentioned that they found out there is technology before (around the time of MC's ancestor) that quite high and they are wondering who gave that knowledge. But eventually, it becomes only through human research (won't elaborate since the history is too long).

Love the novel with the exception of- I am so annoyed by how long the author has the different potential MLs playing jealous while the MC is completely blind (not his fault at all, especially not with the way the system was set up *rolls eyes*). As another reviewer wrote, so much of this is one-sided fantasizing and no one even let's the MC understand what lust and s*x are. Otherwise- plot is great, characterization is generally amazing, and the world is quite interesting- though the focus is more on... more>> MC not worldbuilding. Found myself just wanting everyone to be happy in the end.

Spoiler

Felt the need to address- this is NOT a harem, and true to most CN non-harem novels, MC does NOT have what ppl may consider actual s*x with the potential partners.

[collapse]

Spoiler

There's "four" potential MLs- readers probably see five, but when the actual one shows up, he shows up. By the end, the one he ends with really is the right one for him. Though, from the start, I didn't particularly like any of the main four for him- a spin on their relationship to make it nonromantic would've been perfect and a lot less.... peacocking by the MLs

The focus of the novel is on how the MC rebuilds the empire. His ambition revolves around the empire, ensuring that it will survive and flourish under his reign. 85% of the story is about the MC building the empire together with the MLs, while 15% is about the MLs being infatuated with the MC and some romance (?).

I only remember that the MC doesn't feel the same way about the MLs throughout the story, so the romance part stalls A LOT. The romance follows the same repetitive pattern: the... more>> MLs are infatuated → the MC is attractive → something almost happens → nothing actually happens.

The whole situation for me as reader : I've already taken my pants off and you only show me this?

Don't get me wrong, MC is awesome. He's smart, strong, unwavering, very responsible as the emperor. It's just the romance part is lacking & repetitive. Feel free to correct me on the details, but that's my overall experience. <<less

[10000/10]

I could go on about this story for days, but I SUPPOSE I can shorten this review for convenience sake.

This story was absolutely enthralling.

I didn’t have high expectations but this story completely blew my mind. Good world-building, absolutely NO plot holes— the details and explanations were fantastic and intricate and left absolutely no room for confusion. The characters felt entirely 3D and there were many moments that really just made this story feel so real. It tackled a lot of realistic issues— political issues, emotional issues, moral issues— it took... more>> them on with elegance and a beautiful perspective, especially from our absolutely incredible main character, Nero Augustus.

Now, Nero Augustus...

Spoiler

Our MC is such a breath of fresh air within this story and I absolutely fell in love with him. He’s strong and determined, a man that’s in love with his Empire and would do absolutely anything to make sure his people stand high, in peace and unafraid.

Near the end of the story, the ML compares Nero’s love for the Empire to his own love for Nero, and it really is such an extravagant and brilliant, selfless love that he has for his people— even to the point of self-destruction, which is also later tackled in the novel and handled so gorgeously.

MC is cold, ruthless and decisive— yet so lovely and compassionate towards his Empire. He is insanely smart and wise and I can’t even begin the describe the amount of times I felt absolutely in love with the things that he does.

[collapse]

After this novel, I completely understand how bright the MC shines and how his suitors were so head over heels for him.

As for his suitors...

Spoiler

We have Heidrich, a man that desires control and is a brilliant military genius. We have Asaga, a half-zerg ex-gladiator who is insanely strong and is willingly the Emperor’s most loyal dog. We have Alexei, MC’s personal White Wolf Knight who dedicated his entire self to his master— and then we have Yestin, a mysterious and genius man with secrets embedded in both his and MC’s past.

All four are very interesting characters and in the novel, for majority of its story, the readers don’t even know which one of them— if it’s one of them, will be MC’s final romantic interest. All of them have their shortcomings and flaws, but I found myself rooting for each one at different parts of the story— even despite being spoiled on who the ML would be from another review.

[collapse]

As for the ML himself...

Spoiler

Some people found it a little bit controversial that it ended up being Yestin, but I was fully in support of it. A man who was forced to be the Second Prince’s stand-in during MC’s earlier years, and somebody who had forged an unbreakable and sweet bond with MC during those years, as well as after they had met again.

Out of all of the love interests, it really was destined to be Yestin after you really look into things. In comparison to the others, Yestin really was the only one who could ever introduce Nero to the love, self-respect and pure happiness that MC was able to eventually achieve with the help of Yestin’s gentle hand.

The in*est tag scared me, but Yestin was never MC’s real brother and was simply a stand-in.

I will admit, however, that the whole ‘brother’ roleplay thing kind of made me shudder and was the only part of the novel that was disconcerting to me. That was not something that made this novel any less grand to me, however, as I just ignored it.

[collapse]

Altogether, this novel was brilliant and I loved it to bits, and will always look back on it fondly. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s considering it— it’s going to be a wild ride. <<less

Such a roller coaster journey.

despite the summary, romance only truly happened on the last 5 chapters so be warned. And YES this contains omegaverse and guide-sentinel verse towards the end.

This story is full of dark undertone, the hereditary madness, the asimov collar - something like a s*ave collar, the treatment of Omega genders, wars, and ultimately the darkness of human feelings. It all shaped together something like an utopian empire. Beautiful at a glance but cracked on the core.

MC truly has a tragic past and this story will take you... more>> on a roller coaster ride throughout. All 4 wannabe ML was introduced one by one. They all compete rather fairly but all 4 of them represent different kind of love. One is a controlling love, one is a companion since childhood love, one is an obsessive and dominating love, and the last one is a cherishing and guiding love.

I thought this would end up being harem but then MC turns round and finally decisively choose one. Looking back this choice wasn't entirely unexpected since I always felt he is the only one who could lead MC and MC once also thought

Spoiler

any omega is very lucky to be with Ml, and lo and behold MC finally become that person.

the last 5 chapters of ML and MC relationship is very beautiful. They have been healing each other's painful past bit by bit throughout to the end. <<less

meant to give this three stars but for some reason novel updates won't let me change it.

great story with complex world building but if you're into romance genuinely do not bother with this one. I saw there was a slow burn tag and assumed that with the mc's cold and stoic personality its just that it would very slowly develop over 200+ chapters but honestly it's as if there's no romance at all.

nero is a really interesting and partially well written, but problems really start to rise as the novel... more>> goes on and reaches the 200th chapter. It's honestly really annoying how little character development nero goes through, I understand why he is the way he is because of his tragic backstory but him still acting completely cold and not understanding emotional impulses gets so tired.
Spoiler

when the 4 MLs finally reveal their feelings and nero just tramples on their feelings like a robot, I just felt like banging my head against a wall. It already felt contrived how painfully oblivious nero was throughout most of the novel considering he's supposed to be the most intelligent and rational person in the universe, and when the truth was revealed, his reaction just felt like a slap in the face. Why have we gone through 200+ chapters with the plot having gone through several motions just for the protagonist himself to be exactly the same as when we first met him? I'm not being funny but nero's stoicism remains unchanged literally until the last 10 chapters of the novel, and the change is only brought about phantoms of his dead family having to talk him into it. Nero undergoes no development on his own and simply remains stubbornly static throughout all the wild plot points in the story, which just becomes overly frustrating.

[collapse]

I'm not opposed to plot heavy BL novels but at some point I just started skimming through chapters as it just felt like the same thing over and over again.
Spoiler

the empire faces a threat, nero and the MLs plan against that threat, the MLs do something revolutionary relating to science, politics or the military that gives the empire hope against this threat, the MLs bicker over their feelings for Nero, they face the threat, some struggle ensues, nero wins at the end of the day, and repeat.

It’s much more than the title suggests, the plot is really complex with well developed characters. It’s really not about MC becoming an omega. Even with all the angst, it has the most perfect ending. In the end you’ll find out that MC ended up with the only person that deserved him.

The title doesnt do this novel justice at all omfg... this is a perfect example of “dont judge a book by its cover” because I went in, fully expecting a light-hearted and romance-heavy story with the politics serving as a backdrop but nope! Its actually the complete opposite!

The story mainly focuses on the MC rebuilding the Empire that he had taken back after overthrowing the rebels who’d slaughtered his entire family. Using the knowledge of the future he gained from the system (albeit its mostly vague stuff he has to... more>> figure out by himself since the og!novel is 90% smut LMFAO), he would make plans and build defense systems to protect the empire.

Honestly, the MC is the one who truly carried this entire story for me.

Spoiler

He’s cold, ruthless, a little too rational, but he doesn’t come off as your average savage op MC. He bears the heavy title of “Emperor” and he truly lives up to expectations. To him who lost his family since he was young, the empire was quite literally the only thing he had left of his family.

I like the little moments where he shows his more “human” side. Moments where he acts like a little kid really hits hard imo when you realize this kid was forced to grow up too fast due to circumstances, forced to shoulder the responsibilities of trillions of people.

[collapse]

also can I say I am so glad he’s super serious about his job as the emperor LMFAO I was actually quite worried that the author would ignore all of the duties that comes with being an Emperor and just focus on the romance section only. Surprisingly enough, the romance is so irrelevant to the story I wouldn’t even mind if it didn’t exist and MC didn’t end up with anyone.

alexei, hes the wolf knight/childhood friend that grew up with MC and hes honestly rlly cute. His relationship with MC feels so *intimate* that at times I feel like I’m intruding LOL. Those two have been through life and death together and they mean so much to each other it’s really fun to see them interact

[collapse]

ML #2

Spoiler

heinrich, hes the future marshal and mc’s most trusted confidant. His chemistry with MC was off the charts at the beginning tbh but it kinda became pretty meh when he fell for MC LMFAO anyways I like how their minds think alike for alot of things since they both care heavily for the empire

[collapse]

ML #3

Spoiler

agasa, former s*ave and half-zerg god of war. Hes so pathetic puppy but also kinda kinky (rlly into the idea of MC stepping on him) also his seduction method is showing off his b**bs and thats just funny as hell

[collapse]

ML #4

Spoiler

yestin, the prime minister and my BABBYYYYY T-T I love him sm his backstory hits like a truck and imo he has the most developed character out of all the mls. His struggles, hatred for the royal family but also yearning for affection like omo...

[collapse]

who is the chosen pokemon at the end?

Spoiler

i knew it was yestin the moment he appeared and well! Apparently i’m correct haha. For those worried that it’s inc*st or anything... its NOT! Yestin was mc’s brother’s body double so it’s more accurate to say they were childhood playmates. Also as ive said the MC is very rational and few things could actually move him emotionally and well yestin is one of those few things.

5/5 It's amazing!

Honestly, while reading this, I kept being amazed by how the author created our MC, Nero! He's really thinking like an Emperor. It's so rational, I'm beyond surprised on how he thinks and how he manage the Empire.

And the ML's are cute, sometimes annoying, sometimes funny. All characters are designed so well. Until now, our MC still have NO IDEA about those three's hidden feelings agenda haha.

180! So intense. I'll never ever expect that ruthless move! Don't check it in advance. It's a major spoiler.

Spoiler

Among all back story... Yestin made me feel immense pain. How can someone experience what he had in their life! He's so pitiful! He doesn't even have any control on his life... But this one has the most plot twist ever. Didn't expect it to be like that.

Followed by Cute Asaga, Hexagon/Points Machine Heidrich and our Dumb Wolf Alexei.

Asaga was literally t0rtur3d in his whole life. I can't imagine the pain he's been throught the entire time he's on the arena. It's the definition of lofe worst than death!

Heidrich, however, experienced being exiled and treated as traitors during Rupert's time. He lost his family and doing his best to save his remaining relative. He's cute and annoying tho. Personally, I feel discontent and really annoyed when he keeps going against Nero, but he is extremely reliable whenever needed. I can say that, I felt a lot of relief knowing the Nero have Heindrich as the Marshal.

Alexei, on the other hand, didn't experience intense emotional damage in his life. But pure survival hardship. He and Nero has been running away, trying to survive from the pursuit... Compared to the other three tho, they experienced life worst than death at some point.

At this point, I still don't have any idea about Saint Louis, our mentally disabl3d (as per system) Holy Son... His backstory was revealed a bit. I am unsure on what kind of entity is he, but he really does have magical ability. I think Ceasar was referring to him on the letter, when he said "IT" is the weapon.

[collapse]

DON'T OPEN MY SPOILER BELOW. IT'S LITERALLY A SPOILER. You've been warned!

Spoiler

I'll try to search for my other bookmark tabs for future reference... 157-160 Yestin Back-story... Somewhere after this is Holy Son Backstory... 174 Differentiation, Zerg... 180 Collar (shocking)... 186! Random Punishment!... 187 Funny hehe, 3 statues. A with wide eyes, Y pressed against the wall, H kneeling by the ground...

I really can't describe how much I love this novel, tho the reason why I read this is because I thought it would be harem but no, it actually wasn't.. I was a bit disappointed but nonetheless I'm still happy that ended as 1v1. The ML that Nero ended up with actually caught me off guard.

Overall the story is a solid 10/10. I finished reading it in 3 days. I loved it so much. (I cried a pool of tears...😭) I wished that the author could've added extras•́ ‿... more>> , •̀ <<less

I really enjoyed the novel. I discovered it on CG but the translation was still not complete so I used Google translate. Yes, I was really invested in Nero's journey that I willingly let myself suffer reading mtl. In fairness, it wasn't that stressful to read (unlike other mtl novels).

Nero, as a protagonist is by far one of my favourites. I don't really agree with some of his decisions but I do understand where he comes from. His conviction, determination and unwavering belief and love. Nero is one of the... more>> few protagonist that really showed how much a monarch could love its empire.

Spoiler

Alexei, as the first ML introduced, I honestly thought he was the one but at the middle of the novel I realized, yeahh he isnt the one

[collapse]

Spoiler

Heidrich, I knew from the get go he wasn't the ml. I also didn't really like him that much. Nothing personal, its just my preference.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Asaka (im not that sure abt the name), he's really really cutee. But still, I knew he wasn't the ml. He's also one of the mls that I really pity. Since I knew, he really had no chance of being the end cp. He also seems quite aware of that.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Yestin, I knew he was the one MC would end up with the moment Alexei talked about how Yestin could guide/influence Nero. Nero has always shown his strong exterior. Although he gets vulnerable sometimes to Alexei, he can't really influence decisions Nero would make especially if it doesn't concern Alexei. I know Alexei will always be a special person to Nero, but I knew Nero needed someone that he could be comfortable with to shed his identity as the monarch even just for a minute (the maximum time Nero would allow🥲) and be the carefree prince he would be if those misfortune didn't come. Judging by how long Yestin's spoiler is proves he is my stock hahaha

Still, the romance part comes around 220+ Its literally like at the end of the novel. Some parts, I hope would be featured on special chapters like the day
Spoiler

Nero would announce his omega identity and marriage to Yestin

All in all, I really like the novel but for some reason idk some parts feel quite off? Although idk what's trigerring me. Might re read someday and maybe get the answer. Or maybe its the mtl. <<less

I love this novel and the main character Nero!! His backstory and interactions with his family are really touching :') The interactions with the other male leads and descriptions of the world are also just immaculate! I'm rooting for the White Wolf Knight the most right now~

The translations from chrysanthemum garden are also very clear, so it's easy to get immersed into the world, and updates come so fast! Thank you translator Insin :)

I shot myself in the foot with this one...

7/10

But a 1000/10 for the writing alone.

... more>> This review is purely for me to formulate and gather my thoughts into one place and should be taken with a grain of salt as I haven't read the entirety of the work.

Special thanks to the translator for this amazing piece.

Firstly, I went into this novel sort of blind. I was just on CG trying to find something to read and randomly picked this one without looking at the tags at all. My first mistake. The summary somehow completely went over my head and absolutely assumed that X was the male lead. My second and most fatal mistake...

Before I go in depth on that part, I need to genuinely express that I absolutely adore the author's writing. And would 100% recommend this novel to anyone wanting to read.

Normally, I stay away from kingdom building as my pea (and sleep deprived) brain is unable to keep up with all the technical terms being thrown at me. However! The way this author describes everything, it just makes so much sense? The way they wrote about the military excursions and political brawls just flows so well that it made sense to someone like me who has limited knowledge on those subjects. Everything being told just clicks and didn't feel like a whole lot of info dump.

Going back to my previous point. I knew that I was going into this novel with a certain expectation that I probably shouldn't have. But can you really fault me for it? From the very beginning, the story sets up the romance stage for MC and

I did myself a favour and went to find some spoiler in the reviews; to find out who the male lead was. All I have to say is, I completely agree with NightOwl24's comments about him.

Im quite tolerant of most things because at the end of the day it's fiction but that's was just an interesting decision on the author's part.

Because my baby wolfy Alexei isn't ML, I felt so cheated that I don't think I can continue to read it and

it's literally one of the most well written pieces I've read in a long time. (I don't have very good standards as I am told)

To the chapter I've gotten to, it's been such a great journey so I think I'll leave it at a high point.

This story is definitely for those who don't really mind who the ML is (tbh I don't think it matters much as the story purely seems to focus on kingdom building?) and I am not a strong enough soldier for this type of trope. (I should of seen it coming considering the summary alone.. (。ノω\。) tip. Don't commit yourself to something you found at 4am..

STILL recommend it tho!! <<less

I'm absolutely obsessed with this story, and I could talk about it for a whole week without ever getting bored.

The protagonist—Nero—is truly amazing in every sense of the word. The moments from his childhood were enough to make me cry, ... more>>

especially the scene where he was watching the empire from afar.

[collapse]

The novel is literally an emotional bomb. I loved every single character except all the male leads. As for the Holy Son, he's my favorite character. I wouldn't even get tired trying to explain how much I love him.

Spoiler

Yes, in the end, what he did was completely wrong—but at the same time, I can't blame him, because he likely didn't even realize that what he was doing to Nero was a form of manipulation. Being an alien, he didn't understand human emotions. And yes, his ignorance doesn't change the fact that it was manipulation, but it does lessen my resentment toward him a bit. Besides, there were moments when Nero used him too, and he didn't treat him any better, which made me even more upset.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The Wolf Knights, Nero's family—whom Saint Louis killed in the end—were seen by Nero as his true family. But to Saint Louis, they were the ones who hurt him and exploited his power. Most readers probably think that the current humans aren't to blame for the sins of their ancestors, but if you notice, all humans today—even the omegas—possess mental powers. And where did they get them from? From Saint Louis.

Naturally, this makes him see them as the same people who once hurt him. Not to mention his overall negative view of humanity after enduring two thousand years of suffering. Honestly, Nero pissed me off when he told him, "Let me be the one to atone for this sin." Even if he spent this life and all his future ones trying to atone, he could never erase what humanity did to Saint Louis. If I were in Saint Louis's shoes, I would've exploded and attacked him right then and there. Anyone facing something like that would immediately feel like the other person is belittling their pain and trauma.

In my opinion, they both hurt each other in different ways. They both sinned against one another. Their relationship is almost impossible, and separating is the best choice for them—even though Nero said that Saint Louis's attempt to save him before fading away didn't change the sin he committed, and that he didn't care about what Saint Louis did for him in the end.

But I don't think Nero hated Saint Louis. No one sings to someone they hate before they die—at least based on Nero's character.

Anyway, I just love this story so much.

That said, I have a theory that I haven't seen anyone mention—or maybe someone did, and I just missed it. But it's something I noticed while reading the novel. Some might see it as a plot hole, or maybe it was explained and I didn't catch it.

Near the end of the novel, it's stated that Saint Louis can't sense pheromones—even if he can smell them, they don't affect him. That little detail makes me feel like my theory isn't a plot hole. Either it was already addressed, or it's something the author intentionally planned for.

When Saint Louis first copied human DNA and took on a human form, humans didn't have pheromones, nor were they under the ABO classification. So that raises a big question: Where did pheromones come from? Where did the ABO system originate, especially considering that Saint Louis himself lacks the biological components to detect or respond to pheromones?

Pheromones evolved in humans alongside the mental power he gave them. So does that mean there's another entity, similar in power to Saint Louis, who gave humans this classification?

I really hope so, because the idea that Saint Louis is truly alone forever is terrifying—even if he may have built his own empire. I still cry every time I remember how his eyes sparkled like a deer's while he was talking to Nero about their imagined future empire... and Nero wasn't even looking at him. He was looking at his empire.

I can't blame him, nor can I blame Saint Louis. They're two fundamentally different beings, carrying burdens that can never be forgiven. Their war would've continued endlessly if Saint Louis hadn't stepped back in the end.

One last thing—or maybe I'll remember more later and come back to write again.

There's something else I noticed in the novel that surprised me no one mentioned—not even in the reviews I've read. I even went to the author's page to read Chinese reviews, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

The hereditary madness in the Cassius family was so bizarre—especially when it affected Nero. The scene where he looked at the mirror and saw his reflection, even though he knew the person in front of him wasn't him—that was chilling.

It's worth noting that past members of the Cassius family who were affected by this madness begged for their lives to end, only to return to their insanity again. Some experienced disturbing symptoms, like losing control of bodily functions, while others—like Nero, Eleanor, and Nero's father—became violently aggressive.

I suspect that maybe someone else was entering their bodies—someone who had their memories and their appearance. Also worth noting: Omegas are considered a barrier against this, thanks to their mental strength which protects against... psychic attacks?

I believe this "hereditary madness" might actually be the result of alien interference—conscious entities attacking the minds of the Cassius family specifically. Since they're Alphas, they have no protection against this kind of invasion. My theory might be wrong, but I strongly felt it was right when Nero's madness faded once he became an Omega. Later, it was revealed that Omegas could defend themselves from psychic attacks.

This could support the theory that a higher being like Saint Louis exists—or perhaps entire other civilizations. Since it's called hereditary madness, maybe we'll discover the real cause in the author's second novel, which takes place in the same world and tells the story of the first emperor, Caesar.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I wrote this review a long time ago—around two months or more—and honestly, I wouldn't change a single word of it. What surprises me is how the fandom, for some reason, hates Saint Louis just because, in their eyes, he wronged the protagonist. They never stop to think of him as a character whose actions are entirely justified—even if they were wrong.

In my view, Nero used Saint Louis when he used to visit him just to sit with him for an hour, and then spent the next two hours training on his spiritual sea or honing his psychic powers. I can't really blame him, because of course, Saint Louis could never be more important than his empire. But still, what actually makes me angry is the fact that the empire even exists today because of Saint Louis in the first place.

First, at the beginning of the novel, when Yan Dabeng—or whatever his name was—tried to strangle Nero to steal his body, the one who protected him was Saint Louis. And if he hadn't intervened, Nero probably would have died.

Second, when Nero was injured, Saint Louis took him to the Holy Mountain and healed him there.

Third, when Zerg invaded and disrupted everything, Saint Louis stepped in again and helped with the repairs.

And finally, he gave them a chance to defend themselves by revealing the weakness of the alien species he ruled over.

Maybe you'll say, "Well, he saved Nero, not the empire, " but saving Nero is, in itself, saving the empire. Not to mention that Saint Louis saved humanity two thousand years ago.

At the end of the novel, they said they'd acknowledge their wrongs toward him—but not all of them, or maybe I just missed something. Either way, I'm still bitter about it.

I truly hope that Saint Louis has built his own empire. And I hope the author gives him justice in the future—maybe, just maybe, from the beings Saint Louis created, a conscious, sentient entity will emerge that matches his power. Or maybe he'll meet a being who equals him, like I theorized above.

My ultimate wish is for Saint Louis to be the shou.

Anyway, from the bottom of my heart, I really wished that Saint Louis and Nero could have ended up together. Unlike the relationship between Yestin and Nero—which was honestly strange and uncomfortable to me—Nero saw Yestin as nothing more than a brother in every sense of the word. He literally says in one of the novel's texts, "My second brother is a combination of Yestin and Elianor, " so the idea of anything romantic between them felt off.

In contrast, his relationship with Saint Louis was deep—Saint Louis saw everything Nero went through and genuinely tried to protect him and make him happy. Even if his way of doing so involved some manipulation, and even if some people might find it unsettling, at least he didn't spend the entire time obsessing over Nero in a $€xual way like the other male leads. Maybe he had a moment of that, but it wasn't constant like it was with the others, who acted completely rabid over him throughout the entire story.

Saint Louis understood how terrifying humans could be, and he tried to protect Nero from that. But Nero could never truly appreciate it—because he is human, and he could never hate them, especially since they're his people. That's a fundamental point neither of them could ever fully understand about each other.

As much as I loved their relationship, it was impossible. In another world, under different circumstances, maybe they could have been together. But as things are, I still hope Saint Louis can move on from Nero. I don't think Nero will ever look back or think about him again.

Like I said—Saint Louis, to Nero, was nothing compared to his empire.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Honestly, after deep reflection, I don't think Nero ever hated Saint Louis. Right before that thing—I forgot its name—exploded among them, he was either reciting poetry to him or singing, I can't remember exactly. And I recall that before that, he was telling himself: 'This probably isn't Saint Louis's real body—the real one is far from here.'

Nero never hated Saint Louis. Maybe what he did was actually for the best. Saint Louis longed for someone who could understand him and talk to him, and he found no one but humans. But humans hurt him, and he would never forgive them for what they did to him. That's why he found solace in Nero. But he ruined everything when he thought he was saving Nero from the actions of mankind.

I think Nero gave him a chance to find happiness within himself, not through someone else. He didn't need Nero to create an empire of his own—especially since Nero is just a mortal human whose mind probably can't handle immortality. He might eventually grow resentful toward Saint Louis, or go mad.

I don't know the real reason why he said that what Saint Louis did in the end didn't matter to him and that he didn't want to think about it. Maybe his message was that he didn't hate him—but he couldn't forgive him for hurting his family. Or maybe he was trying to protect him from being hunted down by humans.

And I'm not sure if I've ever said this before, but the moment it was mentioned that Saint Louis was talking to his tent**les—I felt a deep sadness. Because no one in this world truly understands the language he speaks. On top of that, he has completely lost his memories, has the mind of a child, and is constantly forced into a prayer posture he mostly despises, purifying people he doesn't even know at the expense of himself.

Despite the vibrant world around him, he remained the only gray piece in it all. When he said that his wish was for Nero to be the one to guide him—to help him understand this joyful human crowd and become part of it—I felt completely shattered. He deserves so much more than this.

[collapse]

This story is too beautiful to be told, and no matter how many words of praise I say about it, I'll never truly capture its beauty and depth. Of course, your opinion may differ depending on your mindset

you might not understand Saint Louis's actions and end up hating him.
