I want to start the review by thanking the author for bringing such a heartwarming story into my life.

Brief synopsis:

Qin Lu, a veteran actor, opens his eyes and finds himself on stage in front of a bunch of trainees at an Idol Talent Show. After expertly handling his audition, he realises he had transmigrated into a 17-yr-old's body. He calmly decides to seize his second chance in life and thus begins a story of a boy striving for the pinnacle of his life while catching the attention of other boys... more>> like pokemon along the way. Just like another comment mentioned, how is this novel not a BL harem?

Anyways, that is just a superfluous outline of the novel. This novel is so much more. It's been a while since I've read such a warm and sunny novel. Really recommend. <<less

I didn't finish reading this novel. Not because of the bromance undertone (it didn't come from the characters itself, just fans being a bit TOO enthusiastic lol) but because... the story was so smooth sailing

Oh don't get me wrong, I love reading a story where nothing happen, just main character being happy. I read Superstars of Tomorrow and Become a Star novels, after all. But still, make the main character memorable. Give him a quirk that's just not him being a nice guy. Most of his idol's member are pretty... more>> forgettable too. Sometimes, too many characters can be detrimental to the uniqueness of those said characters, their personalities might overlap. I seriously could not differentiate between Fan Xi and Su Qinglan at some days. I often forgot Nan Xiao exists, even! Should've just stop at 6 people max rather than 9, tbh.

Not to mention, for an idol novel, they don't have that many song lyric at the first 100 chapters. Only dance choreography. That's... kinda bad

But I will still give this novel a thumb up. I had a lot of fun reading the said first 100 chapter. Even though there's no song lyric, the writing was still good, not gonna lie. Legit went into a fangirl mode because author decribed the handsomness of the characters so dang well lol. That's why I can still give this novel a nice score even if I only read it till chapter 100. The reviews on this site is very favorable as well and they might give you a much more clear look of how this novel went rather than my incomplete review. So, go check it out. Maybe I would go back to this novel and finish it someday <<less

Just got done with talent show part. Overall I'd say it's pretty warm. My main gripe is author is inconsistent with giving MC memories, so like he knows family members and stuff, but doesn't know if X song was released in this world. Because of talent show they are cut off from Internet, so that would drive me insane.

I enjoyed this one quite a lot! Looking at the plot is it’s quite simple, just about the MC growing and making friends along the way in showbiz. The execution is done well, and there’s not a lot of twists and turns, but it does feel entertaining. (Ending feels like natural progression but also a very quick close to the story, which does seem a bit abrupt)

I love the characters! They all feel distinct enough and all are pretty interesting as characters. If the MC was any other side... more>> character, I feel like I would nevertheless enjoy the pov. That’s how interesting they are to me. It’s a very entertaining cast, especially their friendship with the MC. They’re not particularly deep characters considering the amount of them, but none of them feel flat.

One thing I did feel a bit weird about is how they sort of portray their relationship in a sort of almost romantic way. I came in with the expectation that there would be no scenes like this, as it’s a no CP, but then the author just casually dumps these almost romantic descriptions between MC and half the side cast and I’m like (;° ロ°).

Author includes a lot of scenes where the characters are shipped together without making anyone an actual love interest. It feels like author is trying to hit their target audience of BL readers without fully making it BL, which is... personally, I don’t like it much.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but feels a bit weird for those not looking for romance. but I mean... you’re not bros if you’re don’t seem gay I guess.

Overall, pretty enjoyable! If you like showbiz (and don’t mind the shipping) you’ll probably enjoy this! <<less

I was re-reading the whole novel and while I still love the characters and the plot progression, I noticed a theme that is subtle enough to be noticed.

Fatphobia isn't too obvious but it's there in a couple of lines. Idols are expected to lose weight than gain them and it's a sad requirement that still exists today. It's why I still think this part is quite realistic and one of the harsh truth about society.

But the fact that the fans in the novel react positively when their idol is on a diet is toxic. The normal reaction would be "he needs to eat more" or "he's too thin" but the fans in the novel think that their idol is becoming more handsome because he's on a diet or getting thinner than usual. It's a pretty toxic mindset if it continues so I'm glad the idols get to eat a lot every once in a while in the novel.

Again, it's not too obvious but it makes me a little uncomfortable.

The reason why I love the story:

The author brings up topics about stalkers, fan wars, anti-fans, and paparazzi. It's not a secret to anyone that there are crazy fans and paparazzi who don't care about privacy and boundaries in real life so the way it's calmly handled in the novel is a nice touch.

I also like the MC who is not exactly OP since his former job/career wasn't an idol. He still has to learn how to dance and sing in front of an audience. His former job helps a bit but he makes great effort to improve his skills. He's a pretty chill and gentle guy, who helps people just because, which is why a lot of the people in the novel likes him.

After re-reading it, I have to lower the rating to 4 but it's still good for a quick read (it was initially 5 and then 3 but I realized 3 was too low).

The reason why I lowered the rating was because:

I was also a bit disappointed that their group disbanded early because of their contract. I would've loved to see more of their interactions as a group along with the groups they befriended during the second competition they joined.

Or the author could've explored more on their relationship as they grow stronger as a group. Maybe extend their limited contract since that was what I was getting from their interaction before the second competition ended.

It would've been nice to see them struggle as a group, having more interaction not only with their temporary group members but also their fans. But I understand not all groups have drama/scandals like in other novels so I suppose it's fine.

The ending felt a bit rushed as well but it's still a nice ending.

It's a good story and I spent my whole two weeks reading this story. (Yes, I am a slow reader- Sometimes)

I really love that everyone has their own personalities; all I could think of was- What's next?

The interaction between Qin Lu with everyone else is really heartwarming. It went in-depth about Qin Lu's early growth into the entertainment world in his second life.

... more>> The author did a great job with their story-telling and I felt satiated.

Though, it ended abruptly.

The extras are there for a light read and the timeline for it was a few years forward after the ending.

All in all, no dramas and certainly a great read for anyone who gets tired of reading face-slapping novels and just wants a slow-pace calming story to read.

Oh yes- brotherhood is the best! ;) Nowww I have to find another novel that piques my interest or start reading my lists of novels I haven't read yet. <<less

The MC, Qin Lu is caring and sweet. The relationships he creates are so heartwarming. There wasn't a lot of conflicts, it was relaxing reading the novel.

MTL it for about 3-4 days. It was fine a little bit funny and entertaining. The MC is OP and like very chill has so many bro's that makes me wonder if I was reading BL sometimes.

I don't really get the last extra chapter about his birthday. It must be because I just MTL it and the actually meaning got lost in translation.

All in all a decent read to past time if you're looking for Idol/ Celebrity genre. Would have wish a little more of family interactions.

I love this one! The MC is so gentle and know how to treat people around him well. It does have the BL undertone but I'm fine with it. I love the friendship between the MC and people around him. So heartwarming. I guess it's a fresh type of MC that is not cold, or to obsess with the idea of having a harem. Overall, such a heartwarming journey I must say!
