Hmm.. imagine this...a friend of mine doesn't read any novels or books. It's not his hobby but one day he saw me reading a novel of this genre and wanted to know what's the fuss is all about in the shortest time, in the most careless way, then yeah, I'll recommend this novel to him.

This novel can be said to have all the elements of this genre of historical, rags-to-riches, cooking story. To the point, at the end, I felt like the author was writing a fanfic or a compilation... more>> of all the novels there are in this sub-genre. There's absolutely no originality here, worse, the author overdid it too much.

Doting husband male lead? Check✔️

Two orphan (make it three with the neighbor's kid also) putting female lead over their own blood relatives just for her cooking? Check✔️

Instant success with the business venture? Check✔️

Introducing a clearly fodder villainess just to set off FL (who is btw protected by the plot armor throughout) ? Check✔️

Literally everyone praising the FL for doing the simplest things? Check✔️

Author repeatedly saying that historical times were constraining for women, yet, the exceptions are always FL and her own relatives? Check✔️

Numerous plot holes and unbelievable incidents happening one after another that don't really make sense considering the world? Check✔️

To be honest, this is one of my go-to subgenre whenever I feel anxious or stressed in real life. The slice of life of male leads and female leads struggling together, hyping up each other, building a good life for their family makes me warm and happy. Even if it's for a few moments, it makes me believe that world may not be so unfair, that everyone gets their just desserts, be it good or bad.

This one, however, is very much different. The female lead, Luo Ge, transmigrated into another dimension, a historical dynasty of Zhou. As she was a food blogger in her previous life (naturally🙄🙄) she wins over all the supporting characters in no time. To the point, it felt like her body was maybe releasing fragrance and dew. Like, bffr, even money is not that loved.

She already had a major golden finger of a space whose resources can never be depleted. In the end, we also see her origin from a noble rich family. The more I read, the more absurd it all became to me. At first, the author was subtle about the Mary Sue-ness of Luo Ge at least. But later, she also abondoned it. The author blatantly used the words "competing for affection for Luo Ge". She repeatedly said Luo Ge is capable. But I don't see how? The only thing Luo Ge is worth of is her knowledge about cooking. Even for that she uses the cook books stored in her space a few times. We never see her experimenting, it's always done in one go.

As for her business "acumen", that is also done through her golden finger of able to judge if someone is evil or not. And the rest hardwork is left to her partners to work through. Even after all this, even imperial family members call her capable for her business empire. I just want to ask, exactly where? When others are protecting her, "competing" for affection, she can be the oh-so gentle lady shaking her head in amusement which gave me the ick tbh especially when it happened too many times. Like, who are you pretending here for? The translation is also shit!

The amount of times I cringed, was annoyed and had to take a breather is countless. I don't even know how I was able to finish it all. Just a few more chapters and I would've been KO-ed. I've seen Mary Sue, but not this much in a long long while. Absolutely would not recommend! A tr*sh! It made me hate kids when they are one of the best parts in the novels of this genre. <<less

This is a relaxing Mary Su story.

If you just want something chill with an OP protagist, cute kids and husband this is for you.

There wasn't even an antagonist, the story is just straight up a flowery path to being rich which I didn't mind.

The machine translations was very understandable so if you're impatient like me that is a good option.

MC is absolutely a Mary Sue, and there's some stuff I found annoying in the writing, but it's overall a harmless lighthearted read. The story itself is fine if you're tired of family drama and just want to read something about a happy family. I'm just not comfortable with rating it above 3 because of the mysogyny and fatphobia.

This personally isn't my taste and the food stuff got boring after a while, so I dropped but YMMV.

When I started reading this novel, I was intrigued by its unique twist on the transmigration trope. Instead of the usual "soul in an unfortunate body" scenario, this story features full-body transmigration! 🌠 That's a fresh concept I hadn't seen before, and it immediately piqued my interest.

The female lead (FL) is an orphan in her original world, and there are no pesky family dramas like stepmothers or half-siblings on her side. It’s refreshing to see her stand on her own, facing her new reality with strength. I admired her bold... more>> decision to sell herself to the male lead (ML) as his wife—a surprising and practical move in her situation. 💪💍 From there, the story blossoms into a heartwarming tale involving the FL, ML, her nephews, and eventually their children. The family dynamic is lovely, with plenty of sweet and connecting moments. There's even a touch of magic—a mysterious spatial dimension that provides produce 🌌🍎. However, I felt the reveal of this secret to the ML happened too soon and lacked dramatic tension.

The novel has its charms, but it also comes with flaws. 😕 One major downside is the translation quality, riddled with errors. If you're determined to read this, you’ll need to have some patience to endure them. I managed to stick around until Chapter 134, but beyond that, the story lost its grip on me.

What Went Wrong? 🚨

  • Unrealistic Historical Interactions: This is set in an ancient historical backdrop, yet some dialogues and relationships felt far too modern. For instance, the ML and a prince become instant besties after just one meeting—unrealistic in a time where even an emperor would be suspicious of his own sons. 🤔👑
  • Convenient Plot Devices: The world seemed to revolve too perfectly around the FL and her family, which dulled the stakes.
  • Timeline Issues: Keeping a consistent and logical timeline seems to be a challenge for many novels, and unfortunately, this one falls into that trap too. ⏳❌
Despite these shortcomings, I believe this story could still captivate many readers. It’s lighthearted, and the familial bonds bring warmth to the narrative. For me, however, the lack of realism and increasing absurdity became too much to overlook.

Final Thoughts 📝

I’d rate this a 3/5. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you enjoy low-drama, sweet stories with magical elements and don’t mind suspension of disbelief, give it a shot! For those who value historical accuracy and logical consistency, you might find it frustrating. <<less

The tag romantic subplot threw me off. I thought it was gonna be more business management and child care as the main focus but 50 chapters in and we already got plenty of sweetness overload. So far novel focuses on daily life and sweet interactions between the family some businesses here and there but nothing major

2nd review: @chapter 60. Wanted to drop a star for inconsistent with translation. The dry fruit that she sold first the name started with yellow skin fruit then plum then lychee then sour crap Apple... more>> it rotated between these names it got you wonder what is it that she is selling🤦‍♀️

The twins name are inconsistent as well first it was DaBao and ErBao then it was big baby and second baby, then Big Treasure and Second Treasure. I'm starting to lose interest with all these errors😓😓 <<less

This novel is quite irritating to read.

1. The author kept on emphasizing how the ML was such a catch as if he's godsend but that same person does not even have an ounce of consideration when it comes to his lower half. I'm not sure if the author wanted to showoff the ML's virility that's why he had to go at it to the point that the MC had to ache all over after their nightly activities. That imply that his lower half takes precedence over everything else. What a... more>> nutjob!!

2. The MC kept on emphasizing that she's quite afraid of someone finding out about her magical space but is so dumb that she did not even bother to find a way to hide its existence. What's with taking things out of thin air fully knowing someone can see her? Was it to much to ask for her to have some awareness and also use some of her brains if she has any at all? She could have put everything she needed in a basket before she started cooking or at least use a few seconds to check if the door was locked. Was it that difficult to do? Its not as if there was an emergency and her entire family will die if she cannot cook that freaking offal of hers. But no. To move the story along, she had to be extremely dumb not to do any of that. Such inattentiveness completely ruined my already average reading experience.

The incident when the MC was caught showed that the author did not bother to put much thought in this novel and just wanted to copy all the clichés available to write an extremely below average novel.

Lastly, she should not have sold herself (what a waste of money) but rather gave herself away!! She's just going to cause the people around her harm due to her negligence. What a ret*rd!!

Why transmigrate if you're that brainless? Might as well stay dead. <<less

It's okay. Nothing to write home about but I'm not sure how much of that is due to a mediocre translation - it's basically minimally edited mtl and even that isn't quite up to standard. Pacing for the story is a bit off too.

The romance is cute. We have the standard doting ML and the magical space transmigrated MC. There is some vague plot towards the end (which ngl was a bit left field) but the main story is focused on MC and ML living their life together, making money,... more>> and raising kids. Which I had a good sense of from the other reviews.

I give it 3.25 stars. Great for meeting expectations but not the best written. <<less

A cute slice of life and romance novel. Great relationship between the main leads, very enjoyable story. She has some cheat ability that helps her out in the beginning, but isn’t mentioned as much as time goes on. She uses her knowledge from her other life to gain success. Pretty quick and satisfying read.

Mary Sue laid back slice of life story about getting rich, raising kids and family. The leads fall in love in like 5 chapters or so. The story became a little tedious around chapter 120+ that I almost dropped it from boredom but it picked up really quick almost like author was being rushed 🤭 around chapter 160+. Translation quality also dropped a little, names and pronouns were interchanged multiple times by the last chapters and I got confused who's who.

Spoiler

I thought GJ and LG only had triplets as children but somehow there's one more extra? Or I just got confused idk. The later chapters were a little bit messy. I just skimmed it.

Story and translation was alright. I was just weirded out since TL keep calling the two little ones either older/second baby or big/little treasure. Imo they should have stuck to calling them Da Bao and Er Bao. Idk it just weirded me out lol <<less

This was a very laid-back novel about life in the village, farming, getting rich, and raising kids. MC and ML almost instantly fell in love with each other from day 1 and they're very sweet from the beginning till the end. There was almost no conflict in this novel. Even there's any, it's resolved pretty quickly and MC was always left unscathed.

The translation could be better though because some parts were very awkward to read.

It's a fairly generic modern foodie transmigrates into the past and marries a village husband story. She has a magic space, cooks and keeps the house well and raises kids with him etc. Romance was a little too fast even for this formula but you can safely turn off your brain and enjoy some sweetness otherwise.

I enjoyed this novel and the translations. I dropped it on chapter 98, I know these types of novels have a fantasy element to them but it felt like way too much happened in a short amount of time and I couldn't wrap my head around someone having that much luck lol

It is a good slice of life and I really enjoyed the MC and ML, plus the twins are adorable.

Pretty early on but all the characters have been enjoyable so far. Other highly rated reviews seem accurate. This is a relaxing read that still keeps my interest, a rare find. It's also got a decent translation! Definitely recommend!
