She had quarreled with the male lead and stood in the rain in front of my house:
“Brother Meng, I have nowhere else to go.”
My usually calm and composed husband, Meng He Shu, lost his temper:
“I’m going to find him and settle this!”
Even my seven-year-old son, Meng Bai, waved his little fist:
“Fairy Sister, don’t cry, I’ll marry you when I grow up.”
While they all scrambled to cheer her up, I was trapped on a fishing boat by the sudden downpour, having gone out to buy fresh river fish.
The boatman was shouting at the shore, trying to attract more passengers:
“Anyone else going to Qingzhou?”
I looked down at the basket, where I had just bought three hairtail fish, with only one or two taels of silver left.
I handed the boatman a tael of silver and asked:
“How far can I get with one tael of silver?”

MC does not forgive her husband and leaves him. I was so relieved. Her child is a brat and it was honestly a relief to see that she doesn't forgive him either. She ends up adopting another kid who actually appreciates her as a mother and tries his absolute best for her.
Would a divorce really be so easy or legally recognized? The separation of husband and wife for both situations outlined in the story only hold up so long as the husband does not force the runaway wife back home. A second romance for either the protagonist or the villainess would not be simple. The villainess is problematic in going to a married man, but she is not likely to be able to succeed in leaving her husband with her child without the support of a man. It's contemptible behavior that I can't pity at all, but the underlying desperation of her situation is completely brushed over.
She already forgave him once for his emotional betrayal of their relationship before the story begins. He was well aware she knew of his past feelings for this woman. His intentions to his white moonlight may have been innocent, but his actions revealed his disdain for his marriage. I do like that he ultimately respects her decision to separate in the sense that he does not cross any lines without permission once he finds her.
The son, like the father, did not think too much about showing preference for a woman with bad intentions. Children are easy to be deceived by sweet talkers when compared to their strict parents. However, he was the first to realize his mother was gone for too long and the first to miss her. She probably should not have revenged the wrongs of a child so clearly and completely. He harmed her, but the harm of her abandonment in turn could not have been light. She also directly contributed to a strong competitive relationship between the two children due to her bias. Why do the brothers have to live as enemies due to the cold relationship of their parents?
I can't believe she really abandoned and rejected her son. She was described as a woman who helps everyone without hesitation. A very magnanimous woman. Wouldn't it be right for her to forgive the child she almost died for and cared for 7 years. When I was 7 years old I'd rather have junk foods as a meal, how could she expect her son to have a better judgment?
