Apologies in advance that this review will probably feel like a rollercoaster and feel a bit scattered. I keep related topics together but I write and add onto my reviews as I read so it might feel strange.

About the whole cross-dressing/gender bender thing in the tag basically everyone around him including the king is aware so it has practically no role in the story at all.

Okay first off I feel the need to announce I think this would qualify as a short story. You might have expected it to be... more>> short as it only has 45 chapters but be aware these chapters are 1-2 physical book sized pages. It is very short.

There are two very very short s*x scenes that don’t have any importance to the plot or character development. They’re a bit cringe to me but whatever; and you could definitely skip them if you wanted to.

Also be aware that the ML doesn’t appear until chapter 14 and there isn’t even a hint of romance until chapter 31. Even that is barely on the level of friendship and I’d say it can only be called actual romance a few chapters later.

Finally this didn’t bother me that much but if your immersion when reading is broken easily the translator changes at chapter 27. It’s still a very good translation but this translator is VERY chatty and there are a lot of notes scattered through the story after that. (Things like them apologizing for possible wrong translations and briefly explaining details in the middle of the story.) This continues until chapter 37 when another new person picks it up. They are also very good but less talkative and they leave notes for the end of the chapter. It drops the littlest bit in quality at chapter 40 but it’s not that noticeable. It kind of just feels like their proof reader was out sick or something. You don’t have to worry about it feeling strange switching between so many because I’d say they all do it similarly.

If you’re someone who reads books looking for deep emotions in you to be drawn out or something like that don’t expect that from this. It’s the epitome of fluff. There isn’t even any conflict which is probably why this story is so short. The first 25 or so chapters are just of the MC calmly settling into a new world. He isn’t upset by this fact at all so there isn’t any mental discourse. After that it’s just him getting to know the ML. The description doesn’t show off his personality very well. He doesn’t actually care that much about being married to a man and the whole “acting cool” thing is basically just him using more flowery language. He’s just a chill guy, some might consider him bland but I’d honestly say he’s more “aloof” than the king. I enjoyed this as a light read before bed but others might not if you’re easily bored. On the other hand it’s so short you might not have the time to. <<less

Very good story, a bit fast paced but not enough that you get lost. Loved the relationship between MC and ML, I'm sad that I couldn't read the ending though due to the author deleted their site. But the end of Chapter 43 can be qualified as an ending so to speak so I am fine. I just won't be able to see them finally have s*x together.

It was actually going well for me, despite the short chapter. That was until the marriage alliance was brought up. Like wtf. Are you the f*cking holy father? And why the male lead has to be from the other country?

I would rather ship Haruto with Urie or Alex. And what's with their obsession with feminine man? Why don't they just find a woman, instead of looking for a man who looks like a woman.

And from what I have seen in the other reviews, in the end the MC and ML... more>> will have true love. Then what's with the 3 princess concubines? And why did the MC accept that easily? From what I see, the world he comes from should have practiced monogamy, not polygamy.

I don't know what will happen to those concubines but for me, cheating is a no no if you two already regard each other as lovers.

Dropping this because I don't think I could go on and read it without any criticism flashing through my head. <<less

Surprisingly cute and lighthearted story with a focus on development, not war/battles. I liked that the ML didn't appear immediately and the relationship between the MC and other characters were developed first. Overall, it was a natural romance from arranged marriage to friendship to romance. None of the petty revenge stuff you find in other novels either. Very warm and sweet!

It's... ok. As a slow sort of slice of life story that suddenly has a romantic ending, it's alright. The ending and the romantic development felt very rushed and out of place though. The main character was at least likeable enough to carry things along.

The MC quite interesting, has few charming points, and I enjoy read this because of him.

The ML not that interesting, there's not enough character development for me to like him more, and other characters feels more interesting than him.

And I don't understand why they can falling love?

... more>> One chapter they happily playing Othello, next they groping each other.

Urie x Haruto feels more logical pairing than Leonhart x Haruto. I can't even enjoy MC x ML pairing! Lol

Well, if you want some light read, you can try this (even though there's better light read out there, but go ahead). Even so, don't expect many fluff from ML x MC.. Lol <<less

The first time I read this I loved it. But now I realize how it doesn't live up to my standards of shounen ai/yaoi now. So by the 2nd time, I realise Its alright. The characters are alright, the plot is s*upid af and the cuteness is alright. But even when reading the first time, there wasn't that much excitement and there is still remotely any shits I can give about any of the characters because they all really lack that spunk. I'm actually slightly pisst at the king of... more>> the kingdom because of sending the MC to be queen, for the sake of the country that really doesn't have anything to do with the MC. But whatever MC gets all this crap responsibility and burden because plot.... so yeah it's cute but logic is wtf. <<less

It's good, but def is not enough. It had potential- both the plot and the characters but the delivery was not that thorough as it's like reading a summary with some dialogues in between but it's still good, very light and simple, plus the chapters are quite short so you can read it in less than a day.

This novel is fairly simple, short, and sweet and can be plausibly finished in just a few hours.

The plot is very fluffy and cute but is barely there and kinda slow to pick up. All conflict are almost immediately resolved and though I don't really mind for the most part, the way the author handled the last conflict (the anniversary one) honestly ticked me off with the lack of further information about it.

Spoiler

Cause I'm pretty sure casting fireball on another country is a pretty blatant declaration of war and getting away with barely a slap on the wrist as a resolution is unsatisfactory as hell.

The main characters are fine but they don't really undergo a lot of character development. Any other character other than the MC and the ML are pretty much cannon fodder for the story and have as much personality as white bread.

Overall, it's a cute and short story with a satisfying (enough) ending. Don't go into this expecting a lot of plot, though. <<less

Well it's short, straight to the point and with enough sweetness throughout its entirety: in other words, this novel is a perfect snack!

Quick take, will edit later:

It’s a fluffy, albeit a little cliche, story but it’s very very shallow. For better or for worse, there’s very little detail, and a lot of telling rather than showing. Dramatic events are wrapped up in one shot, the entire story is honestly rather low tension. The chapters are pretty short too, so overall it’s honestly quite a fast read (I finished this in an hour, hour and half even while distracted by Twitter). Depending on what you want, it’s not bad by any means. The... more>> story is interesting but is low tension and goes down easily enough that it’s honestly pretty good to read before bed. Rather than detail or fleshed out characters, it’s more of a “rough draft” story that you write on first take or just for fun. That said, it is rather your standard and straightforward “gotta go marry a king of a foreign country oh look now we’re in love” kind of story, so make of that what you will. <<less

This story reads like a soft bouquet of flowers. It has a fairytale like structure to it. I am really glad I gave this story a chance. I'm very fond of it.

The summary is very misleading-- the tone is far more subdued and less extravagant than the summary promises. We have a protagonist who transmigrates into a fantasy country of magic where we are shown a very low-key slice of life glimpse of his five years. Under the very weak premise of needing an alliance, the MC is quickly 'adopted' into the royal family as a "princess" and married off to a neighbouring country.

One of the main problems with the novel is the sense of disconnect. The writing fails to endear... more>> you to any particular character and the MC's personal angst and sense of presence is very weak so nothing particular grabs you.

However, the novel has its cute moments and I admit, the fact that the fantasy world accepts same-s*x marriage was a huge bonus even though the MC still needs to pretend to be a girl so really... what was the point.

Overall, a weak three star rating sums up this novel. <<less
