This novel was very sweet. Author kept a perfect balance between too fluffy, sweet, dogblood, and action. I was liked the level of independence the MC had and that he wasn't entirely dependent on the ML. MC and ML both sacrifice for each other equally and MC is not a virg*n Mary. Despite the heavy tensions in the description, this is a love story above all else. And it is done very well.

When I went into this, I was expecting a toxic dogblood pairing because of the trope of hostage prince x ruler. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the relationship turned out to be balanced and healthy. Especially for the characters. One of the weaker parts of this novel is the OP MC and ML. They are both definitely Gary Sues. But personally, I enjoyed their characters so much I was able to turn off my brain and read. Indulging in this kind of story isn't for everyone, but it was for me. A+ to the author solely because I could tell they were having fun, because I was also having fun.

Just the right amount of dogblood in my opinion. Enough to make me sad, but not too much to the point where it exhausted my ability to feel sad.

Also, very good translation. Brilliantly done. TL;DR Self-indulgent, but for me worth the time. <<less
