Okayyy so I finished reading this danmei yesterday at 1:43 am! Yeah I was reading late into the night (≧▽≦) and well I'm a big fan of wu zhe and her novels so I quite liked this novel.

Tho I gotta say idk if it's the translation or if wu zhe wrote the novel this way but there were very sudden jump scenes, like it feels abrupt just going from one scene to another at times and also though I'm grateful for the translation, still there were a lot... more>> of mistakes in it. The names were wrong and also typos were plenty.

Aside from all this, if I talk about the story itself, it's good but not the best. I like wu zhe's other novels more. But then again this is not a school life danmei so it can't really be compared with her other novels. It's different and in it's own league. But I still feel it could have been better if not for the sudden happenings.

Anyways, all in all, this was an experience and I'm quite glad I read this novel. I didn't fully watch the donghua and tbh I had no idea what this novel was going to be about aside from a slice of life but when the psychological part of the novel came I was surprised and very interested in knowing more! Now I just wish all the very best and a very happy life for our jiang yu dou and cheng ke. They both deserve it. Especially my baby san ge (╥﹏╥) ♡ he really really deserves and earned that happy life!

Until my next review ~ <<less

It is a slow one. Realistic characters who aren't always fearless but humane. A realistic portrayal of how it is being with a patient, although it might not have showed all aspects of it.

I like the characters too, they're likeable.

A slow but old couple like romance😊

Good translation, although the translator do mix up names sometimes, making it confusing.

A masterpiece. Was on my TBR list for a long time, but Wu Zhe's novel descriptions are so... nonexistent that it's hard to know what to expect, so therefore hard to pick which of their works to read next. But I was drawn in immediately and was captivated the whole time. Before starting, I thought it was going to be your average slice of life novel, but I was wrong—tons of drama, tons of action, pacing is fast in some places and calm in others in just the right way.... more>> And of course, Wu Zhe's writing style is always exquisite—very real, easy to read, yet very powerful, hits you right in the emotions.

The characters!!! Are amazing!!! Both of them have experienced different hardships growing up (and in the present) that shaped them into who they are. Both have a multitude of different facets; they have strengths and flaws, and wants and dislikes, and are complex just as real people are. They truly are each other's antidote. Because of how much they care for each other—even before they get together as a couple—they support each other and help each other heal.

And in the end, just as people are in real life, they still are not perfect—Jiang Yuduo still struggles with his condition sometimes, but he has come to terms with it and has grown to be brave enough to face it head on. Cheng Ke's family will always be a shadow on his past, but he's gained independence and is becoming more successful without relying on his family name.

I think Wu Zhe's true strength is the ability to take two very different characters who each have their own hangups and quirks and different backgrounds, throw them into each other's lives, and tell us the intricate, unique story that ensues. Jiang Yuduo and Cheng Ke each on their own are already very interesting characters, but together, their story is even more powerfully touching. <<less

I think the Yaoi tag should changed to shounen ai, there’s no spice just sweet. The details of this novel relationship between characters happened in small scale (especially the side characters), that when suddenly mentioned after not long mentioned, it make me confused for a second past action. It will be more perfect if the ending (extra) include the progress of the relationship between the MC and his family, if there mention the progress of Chen Qing and his Xiao sun why not include Xu ding too? After all he... more>> was the main side characters too. It’s an elongated story that focused based of the daily life of mentally disabled character, the impact to their daily life, characters, social life, affected both physical and mental, vulnerability etc. Progressed to time of rehabilitation... it really told the more ‘normal’ people, that what we see as ‘abnormal’ actually want to be saw as ‘normal’ too, but there’s already label before they explain (already knew from reactions all the time). So sometimes they will show their discomfort from physical contact or if verbally, people will think that they want to argued or talk nothing/odd context. Well I meet them in real life and depression include in mental disorders too... so respect e/o and take effort to valued the person themself not the outsell and their shortcomings. Love all <<less

Spoiler

Their first meeting was near tr*shcan lmao interesting beginning, I'll read it review: Oh my, this is good. The relationship progress from strangers to friend to lovers. Um there's also cat! Named Meow xD The beginning are damn funny, then it's creepy THEN it became touching as f*ck. Oh the theme is also heavy about

mental illness
i like how the author handled it, its a bit heavy, but its realistic (the one who can save you is yourself.) the couple is switch which I didn't expect but it's cool. Um, the romance is a bit slow but it's mainly cuz ML had abnormal childhood so it effect his lack understanding of his emotions (of like). About the noncon/dubcon kiss who happened more than thrice I have mixed feeling if that didn't happen I doubt their relationship will progressed into romantic one, and Jiang Yu (ML) also said that he didn't feel repulsed or disgusted, he felt nothing. Mainly, he's confused and as a man who thought he's straight it's understandable, still, dang Cheng ke consent ah! Oh, btw I Mtled this book, good read <3
