Bro, I don't know about you but no one allows actually mu*der to take place on live broadcast. There should have stopped the live broadcast and turned it to a private channel so only the police could see it. The move here was so massively s*upid, I don't even know what to say. I honestly liked this story but this really put a full stop on that enthusiasm.

And then... The fact that when this guy did things that were reported to the police, the people chasing him didn't even know??? At least after the fact, like in the beginning, they should have shown the captains what exactly he did that caught the police's attention.

I feel like it just made such a big blunder that I honestly lost all interest in this story. I feel like the quality is just gonna go downhill from what the other reviews are saying, so I'm just gonna drop this preemtively while the going is good.

Really liking it so far. So the story is set in a future China where a reality TV show is sponsored by the government to basically show off the police and showcase just how hard it is for a criminal to escape in order to discourage crime. The MC is one of 50 "fugitive" volunteer participants seeking to escape the police for as long as possible, with a cash prize growing each day they stay free. But our MC has an advantage, which is a system. He gets points for... more>> shocking or surprising people, and can use those points to buy skills. He really quickly becomes super OP, but that doesn't detract from the story because the focus is never on how OP the protagonist is but on how he uses those skills to evade the police with flair. He's also not a god. He's still very much grounded by physics and human limitations, and he's also only one person compared to the nation-spanning police network. Some of his antics stretch reality a bit, but the setting is already "not real" so it isn't jarring for him to pull off action movie level stunts. <<less

Good. Funny. At first it was just a large scale hide and seek game but you would notice that the game and reality often crosses.

OP MC has a thrilling and funny livestreamed hide-and-seek with the cops. The fact it's 'staged' makes it a lot more fun then if it was completely legitamate, and helps ease some of the realism concerns. Of course, having a System makes 'realism' a joke, but my point stands.

On the System, I actually didn't mind it too much. It never felt too obtrusive, and the missions it gave weren't manditory or 'failure=death' types that I found kinda annoying in other stories. It's there to justify his completely busted abilities, and... more>> to provide MC just enough out-of-context knowledge to win while still looking smart. The IQ raises are a bit suspect, but I didn't find it like a 'I'm so smart I solved everything'. Instead, it seems to 'expand his horizions' rather then simply spawning knowledge in his head. A rather nice suprise in a chinise novel, where MCs can occassionally be so 'smart' they forget to actually justify their decisions with any basis beyond 'trust me'.

MC is a bit plain at times, which I found I didn't mind too much. His actual personality is pretty well hidden behind his Peerless Bandit act, but we get glimpses that, for all his posturing, he's a moral person. Not the 'evil for the lulz' type, at least. We really get very few glimpses at his personality beyond 'really smart' and 'knows how to escape well'.

The plot itself is closer to a thriller, actually. Not quite horror in it's intensity, but not quite an action movie either. The story arcs are basically 'MC has a plan, Cops figure it out and pursue, MC gets found because of Smart Cop, and then Chase where MC is even Smarter/Stronger to escape'. Even with several repetions thus far (at ch 70 it's been about ~five such arcs) the mind games and clever MC make it good to binge anyway. The lack of exact matches makes it fun (neither MC nor the Cops make the same mistake twice, a rarity in chinise stuff).

This is still a Chinise novel, though, with a good amount of face-slapping and repetative reactions after every event. If you need a humorous binge, this is good. <<less

Feel-good popcorn novel. Not so bad, but something I can put down anytime without much attachment.

The methods he enforces when he fights back were entertaining; obvious by the mentions that author got inspirations from things like Robinhood, Joker, Gotham, Now You See Me, etc. But as time passes and he gets more ‘God skills’ it lessens the charm cause it just screams OP.

For now I’ve reached the end of available translated chapters but idk if I’ll ever read it again.

Non-stop action, with the MC doing crazier and crazier things in each arc. It's great for what it is, and if you are a fan of this kind of stuff you will enjoy it. It unironically would make a great movie/manga series or even a videogame setting.

The only problem is that this novel suffers from the 2021 syndrome of the ccp's new (old) cenorship regulations that forced everyone to write in a very specific and safe style. That is to say..... the most unrealistic aspect of a person using a... more>> magic system powered by 'people being impressed (ie fake internet points) ' to escape the police in a live streamed tv show by magically acquiring godly winggliding skills after snatching a diamond with godly ventriliquism after sneaking themselves into a party by hiding in a box that he paid to have delievered is........ how the government is not corrupt, how the public 100% love the police, and how all the bad guys are either forigners or degenerate drug addicts who wontongly engage in r*pe, kidnapping, and mu*der. Theres no real moral ambiguity, just pure black and white characters. All chinese are good people who look after one another and the world is at peace thanks to the ccp. The author lays it on.... really thick. But at the same time, you can tell it's not what he wants because he

forces the police to be constantly humilitated and have mental breakdowns. He sets up elaborate traps and "kills" lots of people". The MC plays this weird role of being both a villian and a hero

It's also eye rolling the extreme lengths the government/tv show will go to keep things 'fair' and put up with the mc's crazyness. At some point, you just know someone somewhere should put an end to the whole show if this was 'reality'.

decided he would continue to evade the police by acquiring a gang and become a crime lord king pin by going after a real person, having them arrested for the real crimes they did, then make the tv production staff substitute in-actors to play the roles of the people arrested so he could role play while using the arrested person's assets.

Good enough, I guess. But MC became OP so fast, I lost interest just as fast. He's not even struggling imo, as he just buy skills off the system and all problems are no problems, no more.

When he did made mistake, I feel like it was so forced.

Especially when he forgot to clean up the traces of his underlings. Mind you, that was like a few days (if not a few hours) after he found out his phone was tracked. He just conveniently forgot phones can be tracked and let his new-found underlings use theirs?

I like it so far; the characters are interesting. The system makes it way too easy for him but I think some more challenge is needed to make it more entertaining.

i fell in love with this novel. Yes, the system is too damn helpful and made it easy for him to complete his tasks and all. But, what got me is the spectacular writing, the description of the mind games. I'm really a sucker for this type of novels. 😂

i thought this was a one trick novel. One trick novel is what I call some stories that say one premise in the title or synopsis but that element isnt explored anymore after the first few chapters. Say like some villain/villainesses stories but doesnt really do any kind of heinous stuff, just misunderstood or some other excuse.

this novel is committed to the setting of MC being in a reality show lmao. Ive actually read up to chapter 140 in mtl (i cant read past that anymore my head hurts and... more>> I can barely understand anything) a lot of stuff happened to MC, him being a troublemaker and stuff, I even thought once that itll turn into an urban cultivation because of an arc that had a suspected ghost event. Regardless of all that, MC still in a reality tv show.
