Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world!

Well simply said this novel has flaws the size of Jupiter. Yeah I agree with most people on the fact that after vol 1 this novel falls in the mud, blah blah bad + all the flaws already listed by fellow reviewers (albeit a few being kinda biased and based on their own mentality) Have you people not seen the many contradictions after vol 1? Its as if the author made so much planning for vol 1 due to having a large amount of premade plans and it was really... more>> original (cos at that time this was made it was when the current meta of OP character was still kinda new, so in a certain sense hes a predecessor that carved out this new meta/path so really don't hate him that much cos due to him we get other authors who actually have constant development and planning to turn this trope into treasure), hats off for his 1st volume, though my theory is that his initial pool of premade ideas/plans ran out after vol1 and he started using many tropes he could find to fill in the blanks. Ok actually who cares about my theory, let me say this to ya folks on Novel Updates, I'm proud of you guys cos the people who actually come to this site are really high lvled and can sense all the flaws here n there (tbh most of u guys here are the cream at the crop that probably had training via anime/manga and reached this point), but then again I remembered when I was a beginner at anime there were some "so bad its good" kind of animes I watched and at that time I actually felt hey this seems good though there was some fuzzy feeling in my heart (which is probably my subconscious telling me "hey son this is garbage, remember to throw out the thrash") and after some more time in anime/manga u finally get concrete understanding of whats actually going on in the anime and when u rewatch that "so bad its good" anime u probably vomit on the spot and then u remember probably the minority which said 'this anime is bad' years ago in a review. As for you guys at Novel Updates the guys which spots the flaw/contradictions are the majority, ah how glad am I for having many elites here, my brothers, though there may be the minority which came here without being baptized and tempered we already know their plight cos we've been there once. So if you the minority are reading this I suggest u take the flaws written here and go back to the novels and compare and contrast with it to see how true the flaws are, and trust me when I said the flaws are the size of Jupiter and also trust me when I say u probably can't get the state of mind to notice the flaws when your in the heat of the moment of reading the novel.

Oh and btw guys when u guys complain about gary-stu/mary-stu or just because theres OPness in the novel your kinda barking up the wrong tree, its pretty much cos the author who wrote those got inspired by the "OP" meta and focused only on it and threw everything else out of the window, u name it, plot, world building, sensible logic, character development, sense of ego, etc. Trust me the novel is not "bad" because of any OPness in it, the OP trope is merely a trope (If you bring a pea shooter and I bring a machine gun to a fight are u gonna complain?), albeit a trope which I personally enjoy, the novel is "bad" because of incompetent authors, if anything is "bad", always trace back to the source and you will know who the true big bad is (yup u got it people, incompetent authors) <<less

I don't remember the exact chapter number, but I dropped it when MC was out of lava dungeon, some girl dropped from the sky... that part...

basically, as many many other novels it starts off pretty decent... but the story is converted into shitty teen drama at some point.... this story is one of the very early novels that I started reading so I did my best to endure as much as possible, but the sheer amount of creepy ecchi-romance sh*t got to me.... I gave up finally....

so, if you like... more>> romance, ecchi, teen drama... then go for it... otherwise don't even start it to avoid huge disappointment later... <<less

I really love this story. Very interesting and I love the MC is devoted to one girl. I wished someone would pick up this story and translate the last 50 chapters.

I changed my mind...

This novel is ridiculous. at first, it was pretty good we had some interaction between characters and we could get a feel for how certain development could be made... but, I don't know if other people have said this, but there is absolutely no reason that the 'perfect' girl likes the MC in the start. There is absolutely no chemistry between them. It could be that the girl is a sad*st because the only thing the MC does is stutter and can't say sh*t to the... more>> girl. Especially because he is afraid of her 'friends'. As we progress we get a great sense of what kind of personality the MC will develop into. According to his experiences and events he should be a ruthless mofo, who only has the single purpose in life to destroy those who betrayed him.

We are told again and again that the MC has a broken heart and bears no emotion/feelings. However, he contradicts himself before he even gets halfway through the labyrinth. He is sorta kind to the girl. Normal people would really have trust issues when they were betrayed like he had been. But, he is just cold and quickly warms up to her...

At this point, the author probably thought his fanbase was established and started the massive clutter of filler chapters/filler characters.

Trust me nothing really interesting happens. The twists are lackluster and doesn't even further the MC that much. His 'eventual' return to the group is simply pathetic.

First Arc 3/5 - the way he powers up is pretty interesting, but this system is never touched upon again, to such an extent.

Rest: 1/5 - The story is incredibly boring. tbh the ranking is because the author was too lazy to add any real content, it is mostly just fanservice/filler. <<less

Its a good read if you like OP MC. And later on OP harem member also join him. All in all its enjoyable, but later on in the series u kind of like just noticed

Any of the dungeon are practically impossible to be cleared by a normal human or mc’s hero classmate. Not to mention all of the enemy they face are also too OP for any of his other classmate to handle, making u wonder why are they even summoned in the first place, and how weak are the human in general if they are weaker than the summoned people. Not to mention how the demons are so strong but somehow it was the human that ruled most of the territory while the beastman are hiding in fear, and the demons never launch any attacks before the human summoned the MC. Basically from the looks of it, if the MC does not accidentally become OP the human are practically doomed to ruins no matter how many hero they summon

Author humor sense is terrible.... (-1) (random "populars should die" is not funny... for 1 example)

Kills absolutely MC personality... then he forgets it and makes a 3. personality for him.... and I did not even finish vol3... (-1)

Makes MC OP too fast (and genius (randomly?))... with broken logic... finally you get random numbers you have no idea what to do... (-1/2)

And it betrayed 1 of my expectation with an unfunny, uninteresting (and I think illogical) story development.

Simple action fantasy story with some harem and OP badass MC. I really liked it! To say truth many Japanese action fantasy novels suck at action part (unlike xianxias) but this one does not. If you are tired of wimpy, annoyingly dense or s*upidly righteous protagonist than this is for you!!

Honestly the first five chapter where like hell to read, I quit reading it like 4 times until I finally passed them. The harem is actually one that doesn't make me feel guilty about the other girls that love him because he chose one and sticks to her, the others just want to be around him.

The story was really amazing, loved everything about it. The author really stretched some parts out which made it kinda boring sometimes, but if you can get passed that its amazing.

Not much to say you... more>> should just read it, skip the first 5 chapters if anything and just know that he was week and treated like sh*t and you be fine. :) <<less

Really enjoyable, but can’t say its really good. It starts out really good but it gets bit unfocused in later chapters. I really like reading it as I like mc’s character but its also not greatest story. I would give this “enjoy” rating of 5 and “story” rating 3 because of later chapters.

This really needs to either be a straight harem or all the girls around him converted to normal friends. Its annoying that basically everyone around MC is in love with him and even his gf is ok with... more>> it and MC just casually rejects them. And even though he rejects them they still act all love dovey and cuddle etc. It's just s*upid -.-

PS. Also bunny was way too annoying at one point. <<less

Arifureta has a very good beginning but goes completely to sh*t after volume 1. And I mean that in just the first chapter of the second volume it turns to shit. The author didn't know where to go with the story and it showed. Just pretend that it has only one volume and you're safe.

First volume 4/5 rest 1/5.

So I'm going to start by poking fun at 5* reviews, as most of them doesn't even talk about plot, world building, or how side characters are. They mostly emphasizes the 'coolness' of protagonist, and 'dark' vibe the novel gives. It's more of a self insert story written by a author, being bullied is horrible, but I don't think writing a novel like this can be a healthy coping mechanism.

Plot is non-existent. It's a harem simulator where enemies are dumb, and our Chad, Alpha male MC goes around smacking Beta... more>> male characters in the face and all female characters are all to eager to ride his..... cool motorbike.

Side characters are one dimensional, females are, for some reason, unable to resist our protagonist's manly charm, and the male characters, who are of course villains, do not have anything to them except being embarrassingly dumb and existing to just make our protagonist look good.

Overall, it's a self insert novel that shouldn't have seen light of day, not in form of anything official, but here we are. It's intended audience are teenagers who are new to LN and it's nothing more than a blatant self insert of a possibly bullied author, skip it and save your sanity. <<less

This was the first web novel and Isekai I ever read years ago and since then I have read many other web novels and isekai stories so I have a lot of nostalgia behind this story but it's just not good the beginning of it isn't awful in fact fepending on your preferences its pretty good but it very quickly becomes the very definition of a generic harem isekai to the point where women are just thrown into his harem even when it doesn't make any sense making it feel... more>> like the author just had a list of women he wanted in the harem which I wouldn't be surprised if they did

It's to the point that I honestly think of this as the perfect story to show most if not all of the tropes used in most isekai <<less

It is a punishment for people who wanted an actually good dark isekai, but wished for too many things at once.

The MC is tr*sh. His companions are, apart from the loli vampire, cardboard. It becomes uncomfortable to read half way through.

I actually enjoy it despite MC Harem ever growing, but there's a limit to how the harem grows and how the women in this world would just want MC. I can reasonably accept the first few of the women because they have sometime you get to know them and while the dragon is h**ny I really like her personality aside from it. But what I don't like afterwards is how it is clear that the other women are going to be added to the harem with no reason for me... more>> to like them or want to add to the ever expanding harem. Two of them I am not keen of is the teacher and a friend of MC's love interest. Not only are they not interesting at all. But also firstly the teacher is an adult from the modern world, and yet because of her small body, she whose an adult became an object of love interest probably due to her no intimate love interaction. And you know what got her to develop feelings? Being kissed by MC. I won't go into details but that rubs me the wrong way. And the female friend shouldn't be in the harem in my opinion due to the fact that this MC is a love interest of her friend. And yet we know that because harem she would be included because we can't say no to join cause it will hurt her feelings. Like yeah right thats like every girl in IRL who would get heartbroken. All in all I didn't like the female cast and also because MC is badass the non harem girls all want him I guess. Its just mere pandering even tho the world is interesting <<less

This novel is a pretty good power fantasy.

The MC is someone who used to be a beta male but turned into an alpha after going through a hellish situation. He is an overpowered alpha male who is suited the power fantasy genre very well.

The side characters are pretty good, they don't have much character development, but their personality already made them quite decent characters. The harem aren't really good, a lot of the harem members just fell in love with the MC for no reason.

Due to the novel not having... more>> much character development, it will get very hard to read past the third labyrinth.

Unfortunately, after the hero got back into the plot, the novels started a mad sprint downhill. That's because the hero became a garbage character, he will make you so angry that you'll want to smash your screen.

The final fight scene are also quite boring, because of the overly extended fights that are not just enjoyable anymore.

This novel is pretty fun to read at the start, but it started going down hill after the MC met up with his former classmates. It's still a pretty good read, but I suggest you to not read further than that if you don't want to get very angry. <<less

This is a pretty successful Japanese LN and was adapted to manga and even anime. It has a bunch of imitators too.

It's an isekai harem with a rather dark tone but a happy ending. The quality is pretty solid for an LN. If you are interested in a story about a guy with a "garbage" job/skill becoming OP and upstaging all of the heroes, give this one a shot.

The author has great ideas, but he has not yet managed to combine them into one coherent MC. One chapter the MC is an ally of justice, the next he goes KILL KILL KILL. Disappointing 2*. Maybe because I don't belong to the "have fun with guns & gundams in a fantasy world" fraction.

- The MC should chase down different "beasts" to get different abilities. This just gets swept under the rug.

- The MC's transformation period should have been way longer. Let him lay with broken bones in a crevice for a year, just being held alive by the God's Stone

- Why does the "super-rare" miraculous God's Stone suddenly got demoted to side-kick and simply turned into jewelry.

- The possessive vampire girl should have killed the rabbit girl the moment she appeared.

I enjoyed the original story, it had a nice tempo and the main character and his party's power builds up at a nice pace reasonably, and in all honesty, I enjoy arifureta after even more, the current story arc in particular is really cool and exciting and I'm just waiting until we see the outcome, plus the tortus travel journal chapters are also very fun and show off the wonderful character development that's occurred throughout the series, at least that's my take, I'll admit arifureta after takes a bit to... more>> really get good though with the chronology always being all over the place at first <<less
