I knew what awaits me from the tags and reviews, so I was "prepared" for the in*est part. Aside from this topic, the book was a really good read. The story progressed through different places and characters with a VERY GOOD pacing. Not too slow, not too fast. Not too many characters. It's more like an adventure than a political scheme. It's also a bit of an "Enemies to lovers" story - so if you like that you should definitely read it. I was glad I did.

I have mixed feelings about this novel but it is honestly good. You'll experience an emotional roller Coaster reading this. I hate, like and pity the ML (gong). It was first focused between MC and ML, on the latter half is about the conspiracies behind the sect. BE WARNED OF THE TAGS. DO NOT READ IF IT'S NOT UR TASTE

The shou, xu Feng (I think he is the MC since most of the inner thoughts in novel are about him) left his master after cultivation. On his way of adventure,... more>> he saved a person (murong fei) from the ML (gong). In turn, since the ML's plan is foiled, the MC is tortured, lost his cultivation, is poisoned and his right hand is crippled. He should die eventually from blood loss but the ML changed his mind. Dragged the MC from his feet to bed and cruelly r*ped him. His humiliation lasted for 3 years. These were the past (so in the current novel timeline, no r*pe is involved though an attempted r*pe happened). The spoiler is about the real reason for kidnapping of murong fei
Spoiler

Murong FEI (the person saved by MC wasn't kidnapped by ML for plaything. The ML thought thatmurong FEI as his long lost brother due to details of fei's birth but was ruined by MC when the MC saved FEI. As MC mentioned to ML, if he was not his brother, the MC would be humiliated til death. That's why I hate the ML. But the ML greatly loved the MC afterwards so it made me sympathized with ML

[collapse]

Now (start of story), when the ML knew that the MC is his brother, he let him escaped and the ML changed his features and he kept protecting him. And it's really a bitter sweet story 💕

Smut scene is only 1 chapter at the end of novel <<less

Good lord, I was so feeling the dog blood as I was reading, the restrained feelings are so real between the two. I was feeling the love and hate, it frustrates me so that even though I hate ML I still can't help shed tears for him as I read through his pains. Despite all the bad and angsty tags this is a nice story. The in*est part... all the guilt, s*xual tension, reunions and regrets are well done. I'm impressed that author was able to make it plot-rich despite... more>> a few chapters without being wordy and stuff. Rather good story within the (in*est) tag.

And again, like that reviewer below who rated low because of personal preference grossly disregarding the quality and the genre: PLEASE LEARN TO READ TAGS BEFORE READING PEOPLE. <<less

I was fascinated with this story as soon as I read the summary, because it described such a potentially explosive situation that just made me wonder how it would be possible to deal with it. And the story absolutely dudn't disappoint. It was deep, intense, painful and somehow very true. Both the MC and the ML are very appealing characters. Xu Feng, the little brother, is strong and vulnerable, pure and traumatized, sincere and generous. He Tingzhou, the elder brother... he's deep. He's dark and manipulative; he has countless back-up... more>> plans, even when he appears self-sacrificing. What he did to Xu Feng is not excusable - yet you kind of can imagine how it could happen. I mean He Tingzhou was just a child when he got to the Palace of Bliss. Growing up in a place like that, could he behave differently? Could he know anything else but using and abusing people. And the point is that neither the author nor the character himself tries to find excuses. The whole novel deals with the fact how horrible and irreparable this thing is. And He Tingzhou pays for what he did, he really pays, doing everything to redeem himself, giving Xu Feng anything he needs, even willing to give up his own life... even letting Xu Feng go (which is probably harder).

There were so many memorable, beautiful scenes that made me cry. After reading two thirds of the book I actually felt it was one of the best danmei I've read. Unfortunately, it the last third the author suddenly focused on wuxia stuff and whodunit plot, and it was really, really boring. I'd rather read some more about them working on their relationship, I wasn't completely satisfied with a couple of points but - it still was a beautiful story, and I love it to pieces. <<less

in all honesty, this is a pretty damn good romance. It tackles a lot of darker themes rather realistically and doesn't whitewash any characters just for the sake of a fluffy novel. The MC not being superbly gorgeous is rather rare in CN novels and the fact the ML r*ped MC wasn't done out of deep obsession for him or as an act of "love" was very refreshing. It was solely to humiliate him and if it wasn't for the fact they're brothers I doubt they'd even fall in love... more>> it would also be impossible for the ML to regret his actions if it was anyone else. <<less

I used DeepL to read the chapters that haven't been translated but the group's translation so far is *chef's kiss*, I haven't seen many that reaches its level. The story itself is the kinky kind of angst typical in many smutty bls, doesn't stand out much but it's still quite an enjoyable read. This book is not for you if you're not into in*est and r*pe-turned-love.

Plot:

Spoiler

ML r*pes and ruins MC's hand because MC foolishly got in between ML acquiring another man 3 years before the beginning of the story (it's revealed later that ML was interested in the other man bc he was born in the year of the dragon though, like his brother, the MC).

The story begins when the ML finds out the MC is his brother and regrets it deeply and lets him escape the sect, but follows after him under the false identity of 'brother Zhou', a man supposedly looking for his own younger brother whose characteristics match the MC. MC is shocked, ofc, but dismisses the possibility of him being his older brother because of his appearance (the brother he remembers greatly resembled his mom who was extremely beautiful, the ML had disguised himself to look average).

ML then spoils the MC and they become sworn brothers. He constantly sacrifices his well-being for the MC and tries to cure the MC's disabled hand, resulting in the MC falling in love with him. He also teaches the MC a martial art move that he guarantees will kill the person the MC deeply hates (the ML who captured and violated him).

When the MC finds out that the 'brother Zhou' he loved so much was also the person he absolutely hated and swore to kill, well... you can imagine the rest lol.

[collapse]

I rated this 5 star, not because I think it's that good, but because I think the rating rn is a bit lower than it should be. I've read worse things that were rated higher. <<less

Honestly speaking. I hate the ML regardless of what he would do in the future.

I can never have a personality like ML. My personality is like the MC after 3 years of being 'f*ck' by his own brother. So I don't think I can be at ML standing.

I can forgive ML but, I need time. If I was in the MC shoes and suddenly getting a bom. The thing I would do is exploded! Then I'm quite sure this is the thing I myself would say.

"*speechless*... *laugh histerically*.. so how... more>> does it feel deeflowering your own brother?! Does it feels good?! Does your p*n*s tremble while shooting inside your own brother???"

The time he said sorry.

"Enough with your sorry, you have been having so manu times to say that and try to correct our relationship"

The terms 'relationship' I use us because of this story is an 'in*est' story. Idk, the future, wether they together? Elder brother got killed? Or the things that I would mostly do if it's happen to me?

"I don't want you to say sorry, either you get out of my sight, or I go to west myself?"

This is what I would say it's because I'm still so angry at the moment. So, I would do this. Either he leave me alone and let me stay by myself to recuperated or let me be gone for the rest of my life from his sight. If I know he did the thing he did again by disguising himself or send someone to watch over me behind my back. Trsut when someone is exploded, not just me any could do what was on their mind and I would directly slash my throat at the momment of exploding.

Sorry for my long of sh*tty english Rant.

Anyway, I'm hurt at the moment reading only 6 chapter but, I still want to know what happen next. I can't really hope that his brother don't really want to do all that stuff with his own senior sister/brother/teacher even before MC intercept the plot. But, can't really do that because the brother did admit it that he did have that shitty character. Or I read wrong? <<less

I totally get that the premise of this novel is a crematorium with a rapist ML. I know what was happening when I read this. No rating, just my thoughts

This is a danmei full of knives. Honestly, I can't see how ML could ever reconcile with MC. ML is an interesting character, but such a shitty guy. You know he's on a whole 'nother level when, because he was angry that MC (understandably) intercepts his gigantic plans of kidnapping an innocent guy, he decides to ruin MC's cultivation, ruin his... more>> right hand, r*pe him, take him as his concubine, and then systematically r*pe him for 3 years. Gee, it's no wonder MC is irreconcilably scared of him. MC is traumatized and then his walking trauma decides to suddenly "act nice" to him. Good riddance, I haven't finished the danmei, but ML deserves everything terrible he's experienced and more. The power dynamics here go crazy.

Though, I heard that they
Spoiler

end up together so I'm kind of disappointed. This relationship seems absolutely unfixable. honestly, MC deserves a HE where he leaves ML and everything behind to create new bonds and work past his trauma. But the source of his trauma is still with him, so... Whatever. who knows

[collapse]

One thing I can't get out of my head is that the entire thing is because MC is ML's brother. I don't know how to explain it, but the fact that ML never would have repented to MC if it weren't for the fact that he realized they were brothers leaves me with an indescribable disgust and complicated feelings. MC never even did anything to deserve this, and it's only a barely remembered familial bond from years and years ago which, in the scheme of things, seems to matter so little, that changes things. If the MC was not ML's brother, MC would have continued to live a sad, torturous life as a crippled forced concubine of his rapist (who would continue to r*pe him), all the way until he died (whether it would be under MC or ML's own hand).

If it were any other kind of novel, ML's attitude of taking any individual who interests him by force to make them serve him would make ML a major despicable villain. It's strange <<less

I am kinda conflicted with this. I cant bring myself to like this ML. He claim to love MC but having no trouble to have ambiguous relationship with other people. I really hate this kind of character. The storyline is intriguing and I can undertsand MC's mood and thoughts, the man he fall in love with and the rapist that had humiliated him for three years turn out to be his own brother.

Ok, deep breaths, deep breaths, Author-san this was just cruel!!! Pure evil.

Like yes the ML hurt the MC, and there was crematorium, but not normal crematorium. Like why why why do they both have to be forced to the brink of death multiple times? I was expecting this whole thing to play out such that MC finds out that ML is his brother before the whole crematorium trope starts. But then he only finds out until much later when ML basically forces himself half to death for his brother. Honestly,... more>> I have read in*est Bl like once before, and my opinion was not great, it was just one party taking advantage of other which eventually played out into a relationship. But this, both were like I die for you, you die for me. Why do neither of them stop to think about let's live a good life together. They just torment each other and themselves to no end.

I really don't like the ML for what he did, nothing ever justifies his deeds, and the fact that he did not think of turning himself into a eunuch after realising what was happening was just unbelievable. He is nasty in every means. But he was a good brother? If this brother was not involved in such a cruel action, and rather used him for experimentation, or something of that sort, it would have been salvageable, but the author just had to make him into a predator. Unethical but not disgusting, you know what I mean.

Either way, the writing was good, good crematorium, they suffered well, but still dissatisfied. Imma give this a 3. <<less

Xu Feng (MC) a swordsman came across a man who was about to be sent to the evil sect leader as a male concubine stepped in and tried to save him from it. Unfortunately, he was caught by the sect and brought back instead. For many years, he suffered under the hands of the sect leader, He Ting Zhou (ML). One day, after reading a letter, ML changed his behaviour towards MC and became caring towards him. MC took this lax in surveillance as a chance to escape. I like... more>> how the relationship was slow burn. It did not develop too fast unlike many of the in*est stories I've read. I actually felt the angst when ML is trying very hard to make up for the years lost and sufferings he has brought. On the other hand, MC who fell in love first also felt painful as ML tried avoiding him after knowing his feelings. Good crematorium, ML truly redeemed himself and I couldn't hate him for anything. The plot twists were a tad too much though. I've never read any ancient in*est novels before so this was a good read. <<less

It's hard to say I'd recommend this one.

The beginning 10 to 15 chapters were compelling, but it fell off towards the end. This story felt simultaneously too long and too short. Both the ML and MC were... fine, I guess? None of the characters were particularly memorable. I tend to prefer darker stories, and this one wasn't as dark descriptively as I was hoping. The only thing that kept me reading was wanting to know how the ML/MC's story together ended.

You know, to be completely fair, this is a really good story.

You can't separate the r*pe and the in*est from it because they're such integral parts of the plot, but in all honesty, everything else was top-notch.

Despite the fact that this has only 36 chapters, the plot moves a lot and there's plenty of events and action going on. But it's not convoluted and sluggish, and the plot points tie up neatly in the end.

The relationship between ML & MC is truly complicated, and we are brought along with MC's... more>> turbulent emotional journey. It was definitely not easy for either of them and both tried hard multiple times to walk away from each other, only to end up back in each other's arms.

It's definitely not the healthiest romance out there, but overall this story was a good read. <<less

This is indeed a bittersweet story. I find guilty pleasure knowing they are brothers. The ML's previous actions were really bad. I'm just glad that the MC didn't forgive him early.

The ending was wrapped up beautifully. This may not be everyone's cup of tea tho! A lot of tags are needed to be wary of, especially the in*est and r*pe tags.

So for those who are planning to read this, please do so with caution.

I have to admit, I couldn't get through this novel. Like another reviewer said, this is a pretty realistic story of how two brothers fall in love, after one of them pretty much tortured the other before realizing his identity.

I really hate the misunderstanding and working-thing-out process. This novel is probably good for people who want that. Instead, I found myself skipping until the end to reassure myself there's a happy ending (there is). That's probably the most I'll end up reading, but I can see how this would be... more>> a good story for someone with a higher angst-tolerance. <<less

Surprisingly much more plot that I was expecting from a guke novel, with actual reasonable villains and pretty exciting action sequences. I enjoyed the relationship between the brothers, and both of their conflicts about having feelings for one another. He Tingzhou's suffering was very satisfying, considering all he put his little brother through, and the reconciliation didn't feel rushed or unearned.

The novel is also quite long despite the chapter count, and there's really not that much smut considering the genre. The romance is generally slow to develop considering how He... more>> Tingzhou is hiding his identity half the time and Xu Feng is running away for the rest, but they do end up with a happy ending despite all the dogblood and ab*se. I did however have a slight personal issue with their relationship as I prefer a very solid 1v1 and He Tingzhou does sleep around at the start, and has a lot of ambiguous relationships throughout the novel.

A note that the translation after chapter 8 is mediocre edited MTL so I just read it on my own from the source, as I prefer when titles like 'ge' and 'di' are left as is, and it really loses a lot of context when everything is just translated as 'brother', when there's so many variations to the word in Chinese (xiong di, a'di, didi, gege, xiong zhang, xiong, etc.). <<less

A little disappointed with this novel as I normally enjoy Kun Yi Wei Lou's work. However, the plot is, quite frankly, filled with holes, and characters appear for convenience's sake and then disappear or die immediately after. Side characters act out of character, some tropes are overused, and what in the world happened to Liu Yue after the fact? There is a lack of proper buildup for the climactic scenes, and even the villain's reveal doesn't quite have the wow factor, as again, there is no buildup. I'm not sure... more>> if this is because the original plot was flawed, or because the second translation group dished out edited MTL. Was that He Tingzhou? <<less
