The practice of cultivation seeks eternal life and immortality, but one’s lifespan inevitably has an end. Thus one must continue to cultivate, and become a saint or great emperor, in order to prolong one’s life.

Chen Xia, however, completely reversed this. Since his transmigration, he has gained immortality, and also a system that awards him with attribute points for every year he lives.

Thus between the myriad worlds, the legend of an unparalleled senior appeared.

“A gentleman takes revenge; it is never too late even after ten thousand years.”

“When you were at your peak I yielded, now in your old age I shall trample on you.” – Chen Xia

This novel explores the implications of immortality on high universal scales within the lens of a cultivation Webnovel really well. I laughed and smirked to Chen Xia's antics in the passages in the beginning, I mourned the loss of his personality that enjoyed the mundanity in life, and I teared up at the end.

Anyways.. Amazing first arc, arc two is good too. Goes downhill after that, it's just mindless power leveling. After chapter 200-ish you can skip to the end.

Warning: The translation is fairly bad, not consistent at all with... more>> genders and names. Its hard to make out power levels and locations especially near the middle. And also this novel is really longwinded, making up power levels as it goes as most xianxia tends to do. It really could have stopped after 150 or so chapters. (I usually don't read xianxia novels for this reason, and because majority of them have unbearable incel chud protagonists who I simply can't stand reading for more than a chapter. This is the first time I've seen through the end of a xianxia novel.) <<less

The first arc honestly started strong, though its ending was a little unsatisfying because of how he entirely failed at the whole premise of just waiting his opponent out, he just ended up fighting the enemy normally.

    Spoiler

The second arc though... it's bad. So the first arc has him getting involved with two ladies and they both turn out to be heavenly talents that the upper realm people come to collect and he promises they'll meet when he ascends. Around ch 50 he should've died to the enemy he fought at the end of the first arc but gets fished up by an old ancestor two worlds up instead of just to the next one. The entire series basically just memes from this point, with him assuming the old guy's scheming against him for literally no reason and now he has to join the old ancestor's sect and compete normally rather than just outlast the enemy. There's also a bunch of meme-y jokes that just don't land.

    [collapse]

It had a decent start too, making what it turned into in this second arc a shame.

Edit: want to say I judged it a little too harshly since the start made me think of it as more serious than it ended up being. As a junkfood meme series it's alright, just be aware the more somber tone of the start won't carry forward. <<less

There was just one premise the author had to fulfill and instead he choose to abandon it as the unique point of this novel and make it a mediocre cultivation novel you can see everywhere.

Considering the novel without it's unique strength, matters such as character design, world setting and how logical plot development and human interactions are, this novel would be a 2 star novel, a good one among 2 star novels, but still falling short of reaching 3 stars.

However with its' unique premise and the humour it reached 4... more>> stars, if barely, at the beginning.

Now by chapter 32 the author has already abandoned the unique premise, leaving only the humour. This would keep it at 3 stars. Considering how the author has broken what he has promised in this novel and the rapidly falling quality of this novel I decided to give it 2 stars. Had I read to chapter 100 before leaving this review I am 80% sure I would have given it a 1 star review. <<less

It's like mining for gold. When you find the gold you feel touched, emotional and satisfied. It feels great!

But you should not forget the mud you had to dig through to reach that tiny piece of gold — digging is quite boring and taxing.

This is the constitution of this novel. It has that mud and that gold. But since the mud is in larger quantity than the gold you have to dig in one go or else you may feel like giving up mid way — feel like dropping the... more>> novel mid way, coz it gets extremely boring reading through unnecessary fillers just to find that one page of heart touching moment.

The biggest loophole I found in this novel was at the very beginning of the novel. The MC is a transmigrator who was a gamer/otaku in his past life. I don't know how such a person when transmigrated get the sence to follow buddhism. He starts acting like a buddha who is disconnected from the world. Why? What happen to that morden day man mindset? That deep buried madness and out of the world desires of an otaku, where did they go? Why when you transmigrated and gained immortality the first thing you decided is to disconnect from the rest of the world?

The reason author gave was that since MC gonna outlive all, he shouldn't form bonds with others. Which I follow and find reasonable — only if it comes as the MC ages after experiencing the ups and downs of decades of life. Not from the very start like what MC did in the story ("oh, I have immortality? Then I should become a sage and start fasting. I should abstain from worldly desires."). I mean where do you suddenly get that mindset from? It feels dumb and s*upid.

The ending is not that great either, just okayish.

As for romance, it's just there and most of it is towards the end and doesn't affect the story much.

Overall it was tiring to read but the golden parts were really great to read so the 3 star rating, else it deserves 1.5 stars for being too boring. <<less

    It's pretty decent.

This novel is a good way to pass time if you don't have anything else to do and are bored. The story is pretty messy, the translation is honestly bad (Theres been like 7 different ways of saying the reversing sea realm or whatever). And so on but it's extremely enjoyable (For me).

The MC also isn't constantly super op. Actually has to wait to get stronger. Though he does cross like 14 realms lmao.

Side characters are interesting. I also love the bittersweet feelings when it's time for departure... more>> with some of them.

    Anyway, yeah. Good slop👍 <<less

This is for a very casual read, don't expect too much on this novel or you aren't going to enjoy it. Rated this 4 stars just because I personally liked it but objectively speaking most people would probably rate this only around 2-3 stars if comparing to those truly great works.

This novel is focused only in cultivation power system, other power system are introduced such as technology and esper but the author didn't really delve too much into it and just basically ignore. One thing I very much like about this novel and make it 4 stars is that the MC - side character interactions are very memorable. Most of the people he encountered and form bond with will usually end up in a melancholic parting and it makes me hookly addicted to this novel as I am rather curious if the author would make a happy ending for all where MC becomes so strong he can travel all around different realms and planes to have a happy reunion with everyone or stick to realistic parting ways wherein those he encountered and left would die from most likely the passage of time. Power levels are highly confusing but I think it is more of translation error rather than the author so be prepared. Highly recommended this novel though picky novel readers would not enjoy it. <<less

The first 50 chapters of the novel are sort of a precursor to the rest. They should be seen as world building chapters.

    +No info-dump

+Skipping chapters and still understand the story

    +Very good world building

+You can pause the novel and come back 3 months later without having to read everything again.

-Skipping chapters will make it feel rushed

+Translation is good, quick and easy to understand

-Sometimes the translation for a word isn't the same in every chapters and the genders get confusing. But it's not often

I really like it. I'm not a fan of lazy "can't be bothered" type MCs, but I can forgive it in this novel. It might get unbearably annoying in later chapters if the author forces it, but that remains to be seen. I won't prematurely assume.

Very casual and relaxed read, though not to the level of novels like "I'm Actually a Cultivation Bigshot". There are still some stakes.

Overall, good read, but not many chapters released yet. My review could change when we get to tripple digits.

    Update:

Translation Quality:it seems like edited Mtl but im not sure

    .........................................................

... more>> I would first like to say that this review is very biased,

I want to thank the translator (s) ? for translating this novel, for I have enjoyed it very much

    Story 4/5

Some background info : MC has transmigrated into a martial art world with some hidden people practicing immortality, with the standard realms such as Qi training, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core etc, with Golden Core being the limit of the "Mortal World" and countless Upper Realms.

This novel is quite original and feels like a breath of fresh air, but that could just be me, the pacing is fast, the MC skips learning any martial arts and sprints to top of the martial world within 5 chapters with just his attribute point cheat and within 20 chapters MC is already invincible (probably?) within the mortal world with overkill combat power above Golden Core realm and it does not have any cliche's, atleast I didn't notice any as far as I read.

    Translation:4/5

I have no PhD in English, but I want to say that I have not really noticed any mistakes in grammar and the novel flows quite well and is easy to read.

Imo it seems like some terms are not translated well such as immortal spells were termed as "Magic" but I guess it could be that way in the raws, and it seems like some terms are being switched, like at start MC was called as "National Teacher of the Great Song" and later he was called "State Preceptor" by the prince of that country, I guess it's because of different translators working on this novel.

    Overall 5/5 (personal opinion)

I have enjoyed this novel very much and I would like thank the translator (s) ? again for translating this novel. <<less

The start was so good, and then it just went to hell. First arc was great. It was fairly original concept I've only seen a couple times before but it had decent humor and a nice serious/somber moments.

The second arc just tanks the novel.
    Spoiler

MC forces an ascension and gets picked up by an elder who wants to use him as a pill ingredient. This forces the MC to now compete like everyone else and it just drags on and on and on. MC also starts gaining clones and avatars so expect tons of those. He was also able to stop time in a minor world with one of his clones that contributed points, but the author quickly and offhandedly mentions it stops working because he realized if the clone actually counted he would then have infinite points and could steamroll reality. We also get 'fun' interludes where he descends as a clone and just watches tragic sh*t without interfering so he can gain enlightenment.
