Well, first of all, let's remove the sub-tag of "Low-Key Protagonist". The MC here wants to be low-key, but in fact, his actions result in the complete opposite. In fact, by chapter 30, every surrounding sect and their mother have MC on their hit list as a kill target.

When I read this author's previous works, I never quite got into them. There was a constant itch that something just felt off. Something that I couldn't quite place my fingers on. However, after reading this pile of dogshiit, I can now... more>> say for sure what that thing is...

It's the goddamn female lead.

The female lead in this novel is so f*cking insufferable that I don't even have words to say. Not only does she r*pes him in the first chapter, she also makes his life f*cking hell, forcing him to do things that he never wanted to do.

On the contrary, I quite like the MC and his character. His actions are calculated, and he is a rather soft-hearted person who, amidst all these insufferable characters, shines like a star. His motto is clear: to live a peaceful life. His cheat is great, too. It lets him pick attributes from flowers, mining, and hunting demons (beasts). So, the best course of action for the MC is to farm in peace. And this is where the story contradicts itself.

The MC never once farms... He instead relies on luck and the sect garden he is in charge of to pick up attributes.

Like, why the f*ck would you not plant precious herbs and plants when you know that they drop better attributes.

Now, let's come to other things first before we jump on the Female lead.

The cultivation is your typical qi, foundation, golden core, nascent soul and so on. There is nothing new, nothing innovative. Hell, other than names, these realms don't have much difference between them. As for comprehending skills and dao... hahahahahah.... don't even think about it.

Now... let's come to the worst part about this novel... THE FEMALE LEAD.

I mean seriously... every single trouble... and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is because of this f*cking whore.

She would just show up, create trouble for him, beat him up, make him waste resources even when she knew just how hard it was for him and then beat him up again before giving him a task and vanishing.

I don't know... is this how the Chinese authors think romance works? If not for her, the MC would have lived a rather unique, peaceful and stable life. In fact, he would have grown astonishingly fast if not for her. Her mere presence ruins the entire story.

Some might point out and say that it is a rather slow romance, to which I would say... Take a break from Chinese novels and venture out in the real world.

Overall, a novel that could have been interesting but ultimately ruined by the forced plots, shitty characters, forced enemies and worst of all, an unbearable Female lead.

f*ck this shit. <<less

Okay, so here is the thing.

The novel is written quite well.

    1. I doesn't take forever to talk about meaningless cultivation stuff. Most novels spend entire chapters saying what could be said in a tenth of the time. This novel only takes said tenth of a time.
    1. The mc's cultivation speed is quick but not ridiculous like in some novels. Though arguably the novel could talk more about just how strong his sect or the cultivation world in general is. Because Golden core sound rather unimpressive in this one when... more>> it really should be very impressive.
    1. Plot points don't overstay their welcome for the most part
Now to the problems.

    1. as of now there is... not much happening. Oh sure, stuff is happening and the MC is getting stronger but he doesn't really have any goal beyond staying alive. Which mind you, is a very relatable goal but also very boring.
    1. The MC is lacking close personal interactions. Novels were the MC is not truly close to anyone tend to get tedious over time. Now, in this on it's not that the MC does not want to be close to anyone. But he cannot really trust anyone in his sect, especially because most people are spies. Added to that is that pretty much nothing is going on romance wise. That is because he simply is unable to feel attracted to any women but the chick that r*ped him at the start because of the gu poison. While she is obviously the love interest I would assume that it will take a few more hundred chapters for actual romance stuff to start. That is because the only reason she r*ped him is that she was poisoned. Now, it was not yet explained while she kept him alive and poisoned him like that but considering that it's a cultivation novel I assume it was mostly to see if he maybe will actually turn out to be someone worthwhile.
