For me it felt a bit halfassed. Not enough tragic, not enough face slapping, not enough betrayal, not enough regret, not enough of romantic development. Without focus on anything in particular with a bit of everything, and thus not enough of anything, just an upper layer of all the above topics, underdeveloped. You would say what did you expect from a short story? Not much tbh, but still some short stories end up great somehow, while this one did not (at least for me).
