After Xie Yu transmigrated into a novel where her entire family were portrayed as villains, the thing she wanted most was to prevent the exceptional Dr. Zhou Chenglu from marrying her brother. On the surface, her brother appeared refined and considerate, but in reality, he was narrow-minded and sought to leverage his father-in-law’s family influence.

The Xie parents ran a small business, investing all their energy and funds into their only son. They were indifferent toward their daughter as long as she could eat and survive, causing Xie Yu’s grades to plummet and her to become increasingly rebellious.

If she were to suddenly oppose this arranged marriage between a talented man and a beautiful woman, everyone would think she was making unreasonable trouble. Xie Yu couldn’t bear to watch Zhou Chenglu follow the original plot of the book down a dark path, ruining her life by choosing the wrong marriage. She went to great lengths to subtly hint that Zhou Chenglu should reconsider.

Zhou Chenglu was born into a family of medical professionals, beautiful and kind-hearted, a promising young female doctor. After being pursued by Xie Wei for four years, she finally agreed to try dating him. However, she always felt an inexplicable discomfort being with this refined and considerate man, even feeling more natural around his sister who frequently caused trouble.

One day, Zhou Chenglu noticed that Xie Yu had also changed. The previously elusive rebellious girl would sometimes wander in front of her, stammering and unable to explain herself for a long time, going around in circles. After many such encounters, Zhou Chenglu realized that Xie Yu actually wanted her to break off the engagement.

At first, she thought Xie Yu was throwing a tantrum and just playing around, but as Xie Yu kept reminding her each time, Zhou Chenglu’s feelings became increasingly strange.

“Could it be that… you like me?”

Xie Yu: …

After breaking up with Xie Wei for a long time, Zhou Chenglu finally understood why she had always felt something was wrong with that relationship—mainly because she actually didn’t like men.

When Zhou Chenglu finally began to face her true self, she thought of Xie Yu and the always innocent face she wore in front of her, starting to understand the meaning of a fluttering heart.

Dr. Zhou blocked Xie Yu on the street and said, “Have you ever considered… that you like me?”

Going in I didn’t have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t feel like it dragged on for longer than necessary, it shows the sweet moments of daily life without rushing through the story, and it felt realistic; usually, being realistic is a mixed bag, as it can bring in a lot of negative elements, but in my opinion this story had a good balance. The side characters had their own personalities, each MC felt like they had their own separate lives that weren’t just tied to the... more>> other, and all the official couples are cute together.

Usually in novels the cold ice beauty has one set personality, no real personal life, that only melts in front of the MC. I really liked how in this novel the FL felt real, with her own connections and hopes, not a flawless caricature. I would recommend it if the description interests you.

Spoiler

There is a plot point where the FL is rejected, which does fit somewhat, but I don’t usually like this kind of conflict. It did last for a while, and I only skimmed over the parts where they were separated, but it was just a small bump in what was overall a good story.

The mc’s family does get dealt with in a satisfying way, not over the top, but it felt like there was a final scene missing. The author dealt with them then basically never mentioned them again afterwards, but they were left with financial issues, and I don’t believe that they wouldn’t bother their daughter after she got a good position. One scene were they got blown off or threatened would’ve closed it off for me, but it never happened.
