AWM: PUBG

AWM: PUBG’s highest damage dealing and most difficult to acquire, monstrous sniper rifle within the game. The ultimate air-drop dream, with ample power doing large harm, one shot to the head is enough for one to fall to the ground, regardless of the head gear one may be wearing. Its only disadvantage: The odds of it dropping make it extremely difficult to obtain, in which it all relies on luck.

You are my AWM, meaning: You are the one who I can only come across serendipitously.

Super cute! The couple is literally like a sheepXwolf pairing. The MC is so damn adorable especially when he's with the ML. The ML is sooooo shameless. Constantly teases our adorable MC. The misunderstandings are resolved within the first 10 chapters so I really loved the pacing.

enjoyed the story alot :>

I hate the first few chapters.

I'm annoyed at MC for what he did at ML (which is the reason why they broke up). And I feel like MC and ML are kinda red flags (?)

I cried so much when MC officially announced his retirement and Ml's past.

But I don't see myself rereading it. I just felt like it was missing something.

It is alright..i guess. For the first time I'm not very fond of both the MC and ML, and I can't say that I am satisfied after finishing it.

Sickly sweet story.

Pe*verted, protective, nurturing ML x Shy, introverted, up-for-anything MC.

For a novel with no real driving scenes, this was a hilariously h**ny read.

The actual e-Sports competitions were blink and you miss it, definitely not that detailed, but this is definitely a romance novel with an e-Sports setting, not an e-Sports novel with a romance setting.

What a joyful read. It's not heavy, enjoyable, has everything I like of esport story: good teammates, cute characters, engaging games, tr*sh talking each other, etc etc.

And I'm so proud of Yu Yang's character development, he's such a darling.

An empire is not built in a day. A bridge can topple if it's foundation has been damaged but it could be fixed and strengthened by adding new materials. Over time it would weaken again but people can rebuild it again and again.

I love Yu Yang. He's a wreck but thankfully he's doing his best with healing. He's strong but how I wish that it didn't have to be molded by his past experiences. Yu Yang's adorable but because he had been long used with needing to cope up with... more>> the present, it was difficult to remove the lump in your throat when he's having a hard time. Don't be surprised if some events had been quick to end, Yu Yang's trying to put it behind him and the people around him wants to respect that. Just like what Old Man Hai, the poor can't afford to mope because they have to survive. This might seem cold but it's true. There are people who don't have the privilege to stop and cry to let it all out. Some might be unsatisfied with how passive he's being but please take note that he has anxiety. He's trying, if you think about how he's acting and putting effort in reaching out you'll know he's not. He has a part and it may not be noticeable but he's giving out his best.

Qi Zui is... a hoodlum, rogue, and shameless e-sports player but at the same time, he's a gentleman underneath all those. He might seem callous but he's trying to not force Yu Yang beyond of what he could take, taking heed of his trauma and state of being amenable to what degree of approach can he accept from him. Due to his second generation status, there are things that might seem common sense to others but not to him. He can only try to test the waters as Yu Yang and him try to revisit how they can move their relationship to a new direction. I admit I'm not completely reconciled with how easy it was to make their misunderstanding be water under the bridge but who am I to judge? As a public figure who had just his first love, mix signals and inability of the other party made it hard for him not believe that he was not betrayed or played with (not that it was entirely Yu Yang's fault), add to that it occured when the male lead got his injury while in need of playing in a competition located in US. They both have insufficiency but they're getting there.

The team is very heartwarming. It's the best thing for a working condition despite the looming pressure from fans. All of them are friendly, hardworking and loyal. I'm a bit worried for their Manager He's blood pressure. Lighting incense 🕯️🕯️🕯️.

Xin Ba, he's a Qi Yifan (from The King's Avatar). He's too pure for this team (much like Yu Yang). He was not a genius, and being abruptly positioned in a competition while he's just strating out was a sudden pressure to him. He questions himself but thanks to Yu Yang, he can start steadily find his confidence. I'm really looking forward to his peak (I can only imagine but I can see that it's going to be glorious).

Three cheers for Qi Zui's parents. They don't like what Qi Zui's doing but hell would break loose if other people other than them would demean what their son is doing as they are staining the foundation that their son independently built over time. They're proud and how I love how the mom tries to make her sound unbothered.

Now, I am just waiting for fluff. Hooray, and what's it. I am not satisfied with the shortness of the novel, I can only make myself content by envisioning what-ifs. Hopefully I could see some fanfics about it.

I was brought here by Bilibili Comics and an enthusiastic commenter who happened to mention this particular novel. <<less

This one is really nice, why the low ratings? There's fluff, angst, comedy, etc. Gosh, I love the main characters, gotta be one of my fav couples in esports danmei.

I feel like... if you don't mind the most typical gong MLs that you usually get in these danmei stories about eSports, the entertainment industry etc., then you'll probably enjoy the relationship of the main couple in this.

I struggle with those MLs, so I struggled with having one of them as the MC.

=====

I appreciated that this story gives us a different perspective from the typical stories of this kind. We get a main couple with a history, who spend a lot of the story in a sort-of-but-not-quite phase, but never... more>> have any doubts about their own feelings, and that's refreshing. We see the perspective of the confident and experienced older one rather than the determined up-and-comer. We get to see more of his doubts and considerations and understand why he thinks and acts the way he does with the person he loves.

What I usually struggle with is when a ML is a gong who is always teasing and embarrassing for his own entertainment, always h**ny, always pushing for s*xual things while the other is nervous/uncomfortable/embrassed, always jealous, always deciding that the other needs to be "punished" etc.

What this novel does is takes a character like this and gives us his perspective and let's us see his thoughts and motivations. My issue is that I am just fundamentally uncomfortable with these characters when they're male leads, so when he's instead the main character and I'm supposed to sympathise with him, root for him and find him understandable, I instead felt even MORE uncomfortable. Even though this is not all there is to him as a character, even though he tries so hard for a lot of the story to be careful and considerate, it is still a major part of how they interact and how their relationship grows.

It doesn't help that he's paired with this particular type of male lead. The male lead is a good character - toughened by a harsh life, quiet, tough and bold with his defences always up, but tender and shy inside. It's just that we get a main character who isn't good at communicating and instead tends to tease and push, paired with a male lead who is even worse at communicating and is constantly embarrassed and... it just feels really uncomfortable.

I really wanted to like this. I stuck with it for a very long time, but I've decided I've got far enough along their journey that I can stop it here.

===

I think that if you read the first 15-20 chapters and the relationship so far isn't making you uncomfortable, then you're likely to enjoy the whole thing! However, if you're already finding it awkward you may struggle like me. It does improve in some ways, but not to a significant degree.

===

In terms of the rest of the story, it's fine. A fairly standard bunch of eSport supporting characters. An established club that experiences some downs and ups. Descriptions of the games that rely on telling the overall story of the matches and don't get bogged down in telling every detail. <<less

Shameless yet formidable Gong, and a resilient and persevering Shou! What more could you possibly want? Both had empathy, trust, and were insanely obsessed with one another, leaving no space for doubt, which melts my heart every time.

It has a wonderful pace, flawlessly combining romance and individual situations, containing a lot of sweetness and humorous shamelessness, with amazing narration about the growth of the main characters, no angst at all, PLUS it never neglected side characters, giving right screentime for everyone! Not a single sentence of this story annoyed me.... more>> It was written really well

It's a pleasant, smooth short read; I was thoroughly impressed~ a must-read E-sports story for everyone. I highly suggest it! <<less

This story reminds me of an E-Sport book called 'Glory'. Both books are E-sport heavy, the side-characters have a lot of life, both have high quality translators, and both the MC's best friends are used as scapegoats for comedy (In this book it's the fatty). But the most similarity is how the two main leads came together. It's a 4.5 for me just because some the directed jokes were insensitive.

It was pretty cute. I enjoyed the e-sports descriptions as well as the relationship development between the main characters. The MC is actually very good to the ML, he wasn't super pushy, he wanted him to get well, was super mischievous but was very careful about the ML's past and boundaries. It was a slow and steady and super cute relationship.

The team and the supporting characters were super funny and very vibrant and fleshed out.

One minor thing is that I feel like everyone on the team cried a little too much? At one point they were shedding tears every other day...

Really fluffy and light-hearted novel overall, very little drama or miscommunication.

Translation was fantastic to begin with, but I believe the translation switched hands once or twice on BlackboxTL, and later translations weren't as smooth. But overall quality still pretty good. <<less

Okay read. It wasn't that it was bad, I even had a few laughs but the cores lacked depth. The competitive nature of esports was there but similar to stepping into a kiddie pool. The romance and care was there but only deep enough to reach the belly. Don't expect to get immersed.

Qi Zui, "Drunk", is a 25 year old god level player in esports. Yu Yang, "Youth", is a 19 year old youth trainee. QZ is shameless, outspoken, and caring. YY is quiet, strong, and standoffish.

They had dated a year ago but broke up after a short time. At that time, QZ tried to kiss YY but he had reacted strangely. QZ assumed YY was actually straight and used him to get ahead. This was a misunderstanding since YY liked QZ but had a psychological issue with physical contact.

At the beginning of the novel, YY had entered HOG, QZ's club, in order to see QZ again. The misunderstanding between them is cleared up earlier on. QZ still likes YY and works with him to get better.

The plot also covers QZ's retirement from the game due to his hand injury. YY takes over as HOG's captain and QZ goes for surgery. QZ recovers and they go on to win the world championship.

This was my first esports danmei and I actually.. Enjoyed it way more than I expected to?? The game matches had me cheering for HOG and desperately hoping they would win each time.

I loved the teamwork/friendship of HOG as well as their silly interactions with some of the other esports teams. The banter between them was so ridiculous, but I honestly liked how they all truly respected one another.

I also adored Yu Yang so much.. He was so soft and adorable. I really enjoyed seeing his character development and how... more>> both him & Qi zui gradually began to understand each other. Their relationship was everything <3. <<less

I LOVE IT. I don’t care about e-sport but it’s very entertaining to read the shameless gong who dotes on the blushy shou!!! And the friendship and camaraderie from being in the team is nice to see!! Supportive teammates, parents (MC/gong), friends is good to see. A dash of angst but it gets resolved quickly.

This is just the perfect length of novel to read to be entertained, nothing heavy, just fun and heartwarming.

misunderstandings are ultimately resolved in a way that leads to deeper connections and understanding of their relationship,

The way they handle the challenges they face while resolving their issues makes the story pleasurable, although I did grew tired of the repetitive way the author continually emphasizes how MC is emotionally dependant on ML 😅

More precise rating: ~4.5-4.6

Idk why this is only rated 4.3 cause I loved this one way more than some novels rated so much higher. But just know that this is absolutely a quality work.

AMW: PUBG definitely has some e-sports going on, so don't be worried that this is one of those romance focused ones that make you question why the e-sports background setting exists in the first place. The only thing is that the e-sports isn't focused on mechanics or in detail at all, which is kinda sad, but the... more>> thing is the author has done great to integrate it into being an important part of the setting and not just a background thing that never seems more important than the main couple's interactions, because esports is something so important to both leads.

Drunk, or Qi Zui, our Gong MC, is sort of fits into the typical BL top archetype, but he's way more fleshed out in many ways than in other similar novels. He's got flaws and a real personality, he's definitely made mistakes especially regarding the misunderstanding in the first few chapters but after that's cleared up he's very doting towards our shou, Youth or Yu Yang. He's a very dominant Gong (this has quite a bit to do with Yu Yang's personality) but he's very good at not being one of those annoyingly perfect domineering CEO types which was great. He's young and in his mid-twenties, not omniscient and in his late thirties - we really see that clearly in his actions. Hes also SO shameless. And also so h**ny all the time, but he know the limits and treats Yu Yang very well. Now, Yu Yang, in my opinion, is the part of the novel which the author did best. He's very devoted towards Qi Zui and is very obedient to him which makes for sweet interactions. However this kind of Shou archetype usually has a big problem - they have the exact same personalities as bad shoujo girl leads who are annoyingly soft and rely on their ML all the time. Those kinds of stories have you wondering if you picked up a novel in the wrong genre, except you evidently havent since the shou is still a he.

Yu Yang is different. He's got all the traits of an awkward, quiet and flawed teenager who's very prickly against 99% of people. He's just deeply devoted to Qi Zui. A great thing is that even in his interactions with Qi Zui we can see his awkward immaturity, which makes him so believable and adorable. He really satisfied my want to read about an obedient, devoted character (which I didnt even know I had) without being an annoying, mindless character and I simply love him. Also Drunk and his' chemistry is so goooooddddd.

Anyway, 10/10 reccomend you give this a go. Honestly better than lots of novels. <<less

Fluff. I like it. There's not a lot of challenges.

Slice of life. The main couple is so sweet. They're exes and turned to lovers.

The plot is quite cliché. The plot is the typical captain with the lovers but there is just a bit of differences. I just atleast finished it and did not drop it so it means this is quite good.

This is an e-sports story with a balance of romance.

Very very very soft and sweet 😭😭

I really love our clumsy Yu Yang. And our pe*verted captain Drunk 😭. They both are a perfect couple 😭

The dynamics of this story are really soft. It's warm, fun, and entertaining 😭🫰🏻🫰🏻 <<less

It was a quick read, engaging enough to zoom through the chapters. My fav part was the s*xual tension but no NSFW so.. Sad.

Compared to other gaming novels, I wasn’t very invested in the team or the gaming plot. Some effort was made to describe the mechanics/competition/teams but most quite one dimensional—as a support for the main characters to develop.

Honestly thought it ended around chapter 36-37 and was a bit shocked, but the continuation was more interesting than the first part. I do wish the ML shou’s childhood tension point... more>> was resolved with more story; it felt like it ended in a blink when the build up was haphazardly constructed.
