Sadly author-san had to cut short this story... lest the story would have been so oooooo great 😭

READ THIS YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

I really really really live the story to the point that I wasn't even able to sleep because I just can't put my phone down.

... more>> This story here is very action packed and really focused on the survival aspect of the story. From gathering supplies, leveling up, and fighting their way towards their survival. Everything was written great. I really had no problems at all.

There are definitely some plot holes... but I think that wasn't the intention of the author because it really felt like they were going somewhere with all the mysteries.... but alas from what I said earlier, the story had to be cut short 😭

MOVING ON TO THE CHARACTERS

The MC is very mischievous, deviant, and overbearing, but damn he's cute HAHAHAHA truly like a kitten as described by the ML. He stays true to his "young master" character. I quite loved it as it really adds a dramatic flair to everything. Bonus: HE'S SUCH A TSUNDERE. I always find it funny how he tries to "top" ML but always ends up being eaten 😂😂 poor MC.

The ML throughout the story for me is a very DOTING LOVER. The thoughts he has for the MC and they way he calls him "kitten" in his mind is seriously.. ughhh 😩 I'm jealous.

The side characters are not left out in this story tooo. I had fun reading their little scenes especially those that are close to the ML and MC. <<less

Read quite a bit of it. I got fed up with all the inconsistency, that and characters being flat with a bare few. I mean you mention having a younger brother why did you never get him or bring him up. I keep asking why, the main character doesn't develop its like he's in shock, he is dependent on ML since he was the only one to ever really love him. He realises some people aren't at fault for actions in previous life yet he holds it against people that... more>> they acted in grief. That his actions got people they loved killed.

Honestly he feels like he never truly confronted his death, mistakes, his life before.

To me it could have been more. <<less

This series had a lot of potential, but the ending was rather abrupt. It seemed like the author was still in the process of building up the story before it ended.

MC's lazy and unbearable (to anyone other than ML) personality is unique and I would have like to see his and ML's relationship progress more. Unfortunately, that will never happen as the series appears to have been truncated.

One major gripe is that there is a bit of early 00s' casual sexism thrown in here and there, when characters are touted... more>> for "acting like a woman" or they're upset for having been upstaged "by a woman." Alas, this is not uncommon in the world of Chinese BL and this series is one of those that suffers from it. <<less

This story started off well. Bai Jing was reborn a year before the apocalypse happened. He was given a chance to stockpile necessary items for future use. He did that. But once he found his man, Xiao Sa, it seemed to go downhill. The plot didn't have a lot of action for a story centered around the zombie apocalypse. Some of the side characters didn't need to exist because they didn't add anything to the plot. The romance aspect could be better.

The author introduced intelligent zombies and the fact that... more>> they could level up but failed to tell us how they were able to do that. There were major plot holes that I wanted filled but was left unfulfilled. The ending totally blindsided me. How you end the story like that? How? The author also hinted at things that will happen but failed to write about them. There was nothing on how Jing Sa city will develop or about how they solved the difficulties hinted at in the last chapter. The base with the talking zombie could have been something more then a filler arc. This story could have been so much better if the ideas were explained and expanded upon.

Overall, this story is ok. It's an enjoyable read. I just dislike the fact that it left me yearning for more and failed to deliver. <<less

I see this novel has many positive voices and reviews, and I want to improve this mistake, because I read all novel and I was suffering.

At beginning its normal I even looked forward to something interesting but when apocalypse begins you understand that this is boring and dull. Story really empty and full of plot holes. Minor characters are nothing do they just exist.

ML is usual Male-Yandere who fells in love at first sight. MC is arrogant bastard, he is easy - provoked. He is cruel and like violence. And... more>> I don't insult him, probably even ML think like this.

I don't like romantic here because it's dull and really usual. I have no impression about this. Plot same bad. Although not, it's just doesn't exist.

If you read for end you can realize the cruelty of this life. It's ends literally with nothing. I think when you read about apocalypse, in the end of story they have to save world or solve this problem. But in the end of novel they still in the zombie apocalypse, they even don't become the strongest in their world.

I have suspicions that authour just was too lazy write further. This just mercilessly cut off on nothing. Anyway it's worth action BL I read. Plot is lousy and romantic is mediocre. Not recommend at all. <<less

3 Star? ? Because there were too many issues that tugged at me even though the story was decent

The Characters: the MC was a temperamental, lazy, careless, and often selfish spoiled bastard. And while he had moments where he wasn't bad, there were times it was hard to like him because he did things and said things that used no brain power or just based off his temper. If not for the sh*t he went through before, I probably wouldn't care too much about him. The ML was total devoted... more>> but not as cruel and heartless as I expected. But I liked him better than the MC, but found myself expected something more from him...? though not sure what...
Spoiler

there was a point where they picked up a brand new batch of people and I was like WHY THE H*LL! Made little sense to me, but I went with it..

[collapse]

The Smut... not bad!!! Would have liked more details but better than I expected ? That's star worthy as far as I'm concerned. ?

The Plot
Spoiler

the beginning was filled too much with the MC gathering supplies. The author could've cut pages down to paragraphs and made some paragraphs into sentences from all the absurd details on how he acquired goods. The ending felt flat. It Just Ended!! ? The only resolution was how the MC settled his past life grievance. But what about the apocalypse? How did they survive and build when it sounds like the weather was changing for the worse... And what are they planning to do with their new zombie allies 'cause... seriously most people would freak out if you just bring them into the base right... WHAT THE H*LL!?!

[collapse]

The Unexplained
Spoiler

Is it just me or should there have been more explanation about the meteorites and the differences with why so created zombies and some created mutants and how they made them evolve or level up?! It was mentioned but mostly vague and I never saw any resolution even after they collected the researchers... I NEED MORE D*MMIT!! ? Just saying...

[collapse]

I'll stop here and just say the story kept me interested but there were a lot of questions that were left unanswered.

Btw: Nice Translation!! <<less

The beginning of this series was great but quickly became dull and redundant. The MC is misogynistic because of his stepmother, but he doesn't try to overcome this behavior. Although he was r*ped by the ML in his previous life, this trauma hasn't been addressed. Character depth and development have been dropped altogether.

The action, comedy, and everything that made the series interesting from the start is absent halfway into the novel. Everything just feels like pointless filler.

I ended up dropping this series.

... more>> PREVIOUS REVIEW (CH. 33) :

This is a great read that has had me enthralled from the beginning. It's well-written with distinct characters. The English translation hasn't gotten to the apocalypse yet and is only showing the warning signs so far, but I still couldn't stop reading it. The MC has become a hard-core prepper, and everyone around him thinks he's nuts. He has to squirm to make some sensibility behind his actions, but his attempts to cover-up clearly have holes.

The two leads are hilariously awkward together.

Although this is a romance, it's not so much that it bogs down the series. It is much more of a survival story, and it's really fun to read. I strongly recommend giving it a try. <<less

OMG I'm so glad I read this right after Dominion'S End. They are both too good. This is a story about how the MC transport through time a year before and decided to do everything for Xiao sa (or Xiao San) if you are a fan BL (although I'm not there yet, the intense part) then this is worth a read.

I wanted to like it, I really did. The premise was good, it had a really good rating and apocalypse novels are my guilty pleasure but GOD did it ever drop the ball. I dropped it not long after the apocalypse started, I was hoping maybe the action and zombies and survival situations would save it but NOPE.

The MCs mentality just completely turns me off. Super arrogant and selfish, which in itself isn't a deal breaker because it could lead to character development down the line, but the way he... more>> treats his bodyguards, MLs subordinates, and especially ML just ticks me off. Like if you hate everyone that much why even bother? And there's no consistency either, he changes his mind and his opinion at the drop of a hat.

Spoiler

Like yeah, in your last life you got a crap hand, but from what he's said it's obvious that a lot of it he brought on himself. He acted like an entitled, arrogant prick (so no change after regression) and got the ML killed, no sh*t his friends dumped him afterwards, why would they keep him? All evidence points to him being a total dead weight and hindrance the whole time, and God knows they weren't gonna keep him around for his personality. The only reason he was there in the first place was MLs creepy obsession.

[collapse]

Just, so frustrating because I really tried. I kept it open on my tabs for 2 weeks and I kept going back to it, but I only ever got through maybe 2 chapter before he did something that ticked me off again and I had to take a break.

The hypocrisy, too. He'll want to take revenge on people that left his for dead or betrayed him or refused to help him, but when he does those things to other people it's fine? Like I get that that's a common trope (especially in regression stories, especially in the apocalypse ones) but come on. There's no need to be a saint or anything, but also let's not be starting a whole bunch of people on their villain origin story. <<less

This is actually good!

There are TONS of danmei with apocalypse preparation genre, and this one is also part of them, but I find it's not boring at all despite the recurring theme.

The description is good, feels like I'm swimming in between the battles and the infiltrating missions.

Also love the dynamics in between both protagonists~

This story took multiple groups to finish, and I wholeheartedly thanked all translator teams for bringing us this story.

I give this story 3 stars only because it required to rate if you want to give a review. In fact, I couldn't get past chapter 1, so wheather the story was good or bad, I really don't know. So please take my rate as a grain of salt.

I came to review just to give out trigger warning for some of the MC's attitude that caused me to feel very very uncomfortable, which is the reason why I can't get past chapter 1, so that some of you guys who... more>> also might have this same trigger as me can avoid it.

✒ Which person I think will be triggered: Those who had experienced abusive relationship that the ab*ser has a momentary kindness to you and make you think receiving their kindness is worth you getting ab*sed.

Spoiler

In chapter 1, MC think about his relationship with his rapist in his past life which I found very disturbed. The rapist and his group rescue MC because MC has dimensional space ability. Later the rapist force MC to had s*x with him. And MC state himself that he feel humiliated. Which lead him to crash with the rapist many times. (Well this and MC being arrogant about his ability. But just because a person is arrogant that still didn't mean they deserve to get r*ped.) Therefore the rapist throw MC to face zombies and then came to the rescue in the last minute before MC got killed many times to try to tame MC's arrogant and make him be more obedient. Later the rapist died and MC has to survive alone, which since the MC has no other ability than the dimensional space, it is very hard life. And when MC join new group, he end up get sold to be laboratory's guinea pig and got treat badly by those researchers. Then MC start to think that, compare to now, life with the rapist was a lot easier therefore the rapist actually a nice person that MC should be grateful for. As I told you before, I didn’t get past ch1 so I don't know if the author really think that the rapist was justify or they want to show that the harsh life of apocalypse got MC's head messed up and developed Stockholm syndrome. It's still very trigger anyway.

Plot: 2/5

This is a progression novel first half and actual zombie apocalypse second half, which I didn't like. I don't like progression novels if the progression mechanism is too far removed from the main plot, and this is an emblematic case of that. Too much info dumping in the beginning, too much leveling up and preparing. It would have been more interesting if the MC went back at the beginning of the apocalypse so the progression mechanism had to beintegrated in the zombie plot, this also would have improved the... more>> pacing imo. In other words, the progression mechanism could have been improved by spreading the information throughout the novel, in-between action-packed scenes and characters' backgrounds could have been improved with drawn-out engaging flashbacks. SHOW me why the MC is jaded and distrustful and arrogant, don't just tell me. SHOW me why he's still prickly and contradictory with the ML, don't just tell me. This novel had such an interesting concept, unfortunately the info-dumping in the beginning really put me off. I think it's better to leave things to mystery early on and flash them out later, but this author didn't go that route and I didn't like that. Zombie plot was picked up too late inthe novel for me to feel invested in.

Characterisation: 3/5

I liked the side couples way more than the main couple. Character development was not enough for me to feel invested in MC or ML. I get it why they are the way they are in the BEGINNING. But after everything they go through, not once but twice, why there's still so much petty conflict and so little mutual understanding. There's so much potential here, zombie apocalypse is such a great setting for tension and character development, yet in this story the romance plot feels like a messy addition. It would have been better if the author focused on the zombie plot and left it GEN, because imo it's the romance that demonstrates how underwhelming the characterisation is. Why is the characterisation so contrived, what is the author trying to achieve. Why are you putting these characters through such a dark plot if there's no great character development at play here. It feels static and it failed at engaging me fully.

The translation is good but I didn't like the personal comments of the translator. They often made scathing comments towards the characterisation of this novel, really out for blood for the MC in particular, and I think inthe long run it biased me towards him. I started expecting a big redemption arc that never came, so the characterisation felt flat also because of this. <<less

Well, for me the MC is too coldhearted and mean in this novel. And the ML also does not care about lives a lot. Not my cup of tea.

Spoiler

The killing in the club was supposed to help the ml, but I was just shocked about how the MC just kills people like that. Gave me a bad aftertaste.

[collapse]

In general I found something about the story very bland, maybe it's just the negativity, the gang members (ml's family) are bad, mc's family is bad, and the MC and ml, like I mentioned before, are also not exactly warmhearted people. It seems a bit edgy. <<less

I started to read this novel a long time ago and stopped. Recently remembered I haven't finished reading this one and I have to say is a very good novel.

But, if you want to read it I suggest to have many free days to read it as it is long as hell (I think around 15 or 20 min. To read each chapter?) and have many details that are interesting.

Loved the extras but wished there were some about them some years later.

Super recommended.

The relationship is really shallow. The romance is written very comically as if someone with only an idea of a relationship wrote it. The romance is not romantic. The occasional smut is unfulfilling.

Its all flat. Things are happening but somehow the author has achieved making me not care about any of it.

Its very rounded, all the parts are there, but the many parts are not up to snuff.

So I finished all the chapters of the story, I think overall, the story is interesting. The MC showed both his ruthless personality and his own kindness. Because of his past experience he knew his limits and own way of thinking is really different. And also I saw some review says, how MC is reliant to ml. I think this idea is wrong. MC was not that reliant it is more like both MC and ML are trying to be more dependent on each other, like knowing one another and... more>> getting permission of each other so that they can feel both at ease. Knowing what the other is planning on doing. And beside on the first part of the story it is natural MC is more aggressive to look at, it is because he does not believe in anyone other than those who he think he should believe in.

overall think the story is good. Thought I think there were some foreshadowing that wasn’t really shown in the end. But the ending is good. This gave them idea that zombies are also humans with only a different evolution path. Pretty interesting. It is like cultivation in a good and bad path or something... Anyway. I won’t say much. <<less

The Best apocalypse novel EVER!!!

It was really really great!!!

The novel start with the MC prepared for the apocalypse. It was really Great seeing how MC buy everything and prepared everything and studying everytjing he can so he can live easier in his second life in zombie apocalypse.

... more>> It was really nice read character who doesn't have problem thinking about food, clothes, and stuff except about his and ML's and few his allies' life.

The intense moment in this novel is only when they fight and their journey to create base and when encounter new people who either become their ally or enemy.

Both MC and ML's characteristics is great! MC is showing so much ruthlessness because he had gone through lots in his first life and he only know one person who will always love and protect him. So his personality made so much sense and I Love him! The Mutual Obsession between MC and ML is Great too! Though ML showing it while MC act kinda like Tsundere.

The ending also does not feel rushed! But I admit I feel some little hole. But maybe it just me hoping for more detail in the extras like many other Chinese Novel like to do, but it didn't have that much detail. But the ending is really great! Especially about the Zombies they encounters near the end of the chapters.

This Novel is Absolutely Wonderful and I Love it So Much! <<less
