This novel is a gem. The protagonist doesn't suddenly get cheats or entirely relies on the past life events. Even the cheat have been with him in his past life. And it's an exclusive cheat... No one else can rob even by killing him, although some do want to do so.

I have given lots of spoilers down here. So BEWARE OF SPOILERS!

Spoiler

Chu Yu, the husband, too is a reincarnator. Both of them guess that the other is a reincarnator but they don't admit for fear of angering the other person or other things until the husband had life-threatening experience quite at the end of novel.

[collapse]

I somehow can't figure out the chapters that the translator translated though. The translating quality is a bit.. you know.. (I wonder how good the new translator translated. I didn't read it yet.)

This novel is a GEM! Worth a try.

So don't miss. And it's fun to watch the couple trying to find out their life story. Why were they targeted so heavily? Who targeted them? What do they have to be targeted so? And many more...

Spoiler

Xie Tingyue, the protagonist or the wife, is a descendent of a very important and legendary businessman. He has a magical book in his inheritance. This book was written by that man and can only be seen and touched by the blood descendents. It vanishes when it's in front of others.

[collapse]

All the mysteries and plots are so arranged that you can't extricate yourself out of it.

Spoiler

I don't know if I'm correct but probably the wife's ancestor is a transmigrator or a person from another world who directly got transported to there.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Chu Yu, the husband, is the eldest prince who was swapped with the eldest young master of Chu, when they were born, by the enemy party.

This was intriguing for a while, but it seems like the author wrote a whole bunch of build up and then wanted the novel to end. There was way too much mystique going on for what ended up being a truncated novel full of plot holes.

Spoiler

All the antagonists are resolved in a really rushed and convoluted way. What were their plans? Kidnap MC... I think? And then what?

MC turns out to be the blood relative of some famous businessman who was supposedly so godly that another country's forces are out to get him. But for some reason they went through a terribly roundabout way of doing it while threatening err... other people around him?

ML turns out to be the nephew of the emperor in a weird three-way baby swap. He was apparently poisoned by a gu but is magically cured in the last two chapters of the novel.

Another pleasant to read novel. The ML is protective and attentive to the MC, even if he is sick and can't walk properly. They really care about each other. ? Even though ML keeps attracting MC's attention, ML is still ssensible. He never cross the bottom line and does at his own risk, not like playing with MC's feelings.

Downside for me: ... more>>
Spoiler

There is also too much MC's preaching at first (which I don't like since it is unnatural), and too much dog food in times of crisis (it's okay, but I just find it a lil cliché).

The story is good, I just feel bad on the way it is written- a lil fast paced and lack story building (tension), instead there are lots of foreshadowing.

The ending is good! But written in a 3rd person perspective and very little conversation between characters. It looks like the author wanted to end it soon

I think the author wanted to create an impressive and super intelligent MC, but lacked the intelligence to pull it off.

Instead the MC is just rambling incoherent nonsense and platitudes and everyone is just so impressed and in awe.

I had to stop reading, it was just too painful.

I'd like to talk about my feelings and experience while reading this story.

First of all, this is the first time I’ve ever left a comment on this site, even though I’ve been around for years and have read many stories. The reason I’m commenting on this one is not because it’s the best novel I’ve ever read, because it isn’t, and I don’t want you to interpret it that way, but because it has earned a special place in my heart, and I’d like to explain why.

When I first started... more>> reading web novels, I followed a very specific pattern: I only selected the highest-rated, completed stories, and filtered them by tags. Eventually, though, those top-rated stories ran out, and I began venturing into lower-rated ones, quickly moving from 5 stars to 3 stars. That’s when I realized that ratings can be quite unreliable, many readers leave reviews without finishing the story or they take out their frustrations on the translators.

Something about me: I don’t believe in judging a story before finishing it. I’ve read plenty of novels, well-rated or not, where my opinion greatly differed from the general consensus once I got to the end. But over time, I’ve grown increasingly disappointed, as there are far too many stories that follow a frustrating pattern: immature shous/gongs or poorly planned plots.

To give a brief example without mentioning names, my last reading attempt months ago started out well. In the first twenty chapters I got to know the MC, a regular person with a bit of protagonist luck. But once the ML entered the story, everything changed. The MC’s personality was completely altered, and both leads were barely even mentioned anymore. Instead, nameless-faceless side characters became the focus, while the story shifted entirely to the MC’s job and a creation he made, with no real plot progression. And this was in a novel with over 200 chapters! Every time the main characters did appear, they were portrayed as childish and lacking any intellect or common sense. That experience, along with others, left me completely unmotivated to continue reading web novels.

A few days ago, I finally recovered from that disappointment and decided to give these stories another try. I picked up this novel, and it restored the hope I was starting to lose. Because of it, I’ve decided not to give up on web novels.

Now, a note on the translation:

In my opinion, the translation of this story deserves a 3 out of 5. I’d like to point out that the author clearly states that they are not fluent in English.

There are some simple mistakes, such as choosing words with similar meanings that don’t quite fit the context, which might confuse readers who skim through the story too quickly. However, if you read attentively, these issues are easy to recognize and ignore.

There are also occasional confusing scenes, usually due to setting or situational misunderstandings, but once the error is spotted, everything makes sense. One more issue is the inconsistent naming of characters. The translator occasionally changes the name of a character who’s only been mentioned a few times. I recommend that readers keep notes of character names and their roles to avoid such confusion.

Overall, I think the translator did a great job. The number of errors was minimal, and none of them interfered with the reader's understanding of the story. I’m very grateful to those who take time out of their day to translate these works. Thank you to all translators.

Now, about the story itself (no spoilers) :

I didn’t like the title of the novel. It’s clearly meant just to grab attention. It doesn’t reflect the story and is actually quite pejorative.

That said, I really enjoyed the character building. Each character has a consistent, distinct personality. I’d give this aspect a 4.5 out of 5. The traditions and customs portrayed in the story were also well-written and believable, another 4.5 out of 5 from me. I saw some comments saying otherwise, but it’s obvious those people didn’t read the whole story, every action has a clear explanation. I’ll leave it at that to avoid spoilers.

As for the main plot, I’d give it a 3, 9 out of 5. The central points were well developed, though some side characters and background elements were left a bit unresolved.

The pacing started out quite good, but then it became clear that it was rushed. I think the author could have made the story longer and more detailed. I give the pacing a 3.3 out of 5.

The development of the main couple’s relationship was beautiful. It progressed slowly, which made sense as the MC didn’t have any prior romantic feelings for the ML. But as they got to know each other, the feelings grew naturally. Keep in mind most of the story takes place over less than a year! I’d give their relationship a solid 5 out of 5.

The writing style such as events, dialogue, and descriptions was also satisfying, even if the story overall was a bit rushed, as I mentioned before. I do admit that the ML’s care for his brother wasn’t shown as much as I’d have liked due to the pacing, but it didn’t feel out of place since they were naturally living far from each other anyway.

There’s probably something I forgot to rate, but just ignore that...

Lastly, I feel it’s important to remind readers that every book has its own universe. Don’t go into a story expecting it to reflect your real world. The countries, customs, and history in these novels might be inspired by real life, and there may be recognizable elements like idioms or religions, but this is not our universe. The author doesn’t share your life experience, so when you think “this doesn’t reflect real life, ” also ask yourself: “Could this happen outside my reality?” When reading fiction, you must set aside preconceived notions and let the story unfold as if on a blank page. In BMW, I saw a lot of real-world issues represented, diverse opinions and experiences, prejudice, h*mophobia, respect, hatred, crime, belief, and violence. I have no complaints on that front.

I also want to talk about the MC’s role as a 'wife'. This in no way undermines his masculinity or the ML’s or other key characters’ views of him. The MC is referred to using feminine titles because of the customs and traditions of the story’s universe. He married into the ML’s family as a bride and took on the responsibilities of the lady of the house, such as managing finances.

I wish I could say more, but I don’t think it’s necessary. I absolutely recommend this story and would like to thank the translators again. Thank you so much. <<less

Normally rebirth novels are my jam, even if they're full of cliches, they're just fun to read.

But with this novel, there is something so boring about it all. The conversations are boring, the situations move slowly, and also the dialogue is... cheap.

One of the first thing that happens is with an aphrodisiac that MC dodges. Then people in a public setting talk in disgusting ways talk to MC about being a male wife. And then ML just has the character who was the worst r*ped as revenge. What? The ML... more>> having this level of power to pick someone off the streets, a person who has a direct link to the Chamber of Commerce, was so random.

There are also weird transitions like the MC is walking down the street and sees someone who is suddenly described as heroically walking out of a prison. Again what? Where did the prison come from?

The dialogue goes from cultured and sophisticated to bad guys making r*pe jokes in public. This novel is set in ancient times, not a 4chan thread. People of certain social status do not talk like that, unless in private because the can't afford to lose their social standing. A slimy business man being a creep, sure, but him talking about taking out his D*k and showing it to a 12 year old girl at a party being held by a respected old family???? Yeah no. That's just dumb.

And in only 38 chapters the novel kept switching between formal and sophisticated to sudden casual low grade creep dialogue making the whole setting feel odd.

But I'm mainly dropping because I realized I didn't find any of the characters that interesting anymore. I'm not convinced about ML's reasoning for not telling the truth. ML trying to woo the MC was frustrating because it's clear MC can't trust his words of love popping up when they were put in a forced marraige and hey ML thinks it's fine to keep secrets because once MC loves him, he'll forgive him. Yeah F U.

And the little brother was just annoying but worse I agree with him. He got left behind by MC at that house. It's tough and MC had limited options but I cannot blame him for acting out. Because he's insecure and in a place where the stepmother is out to get him and his brother, the one who raised and sheltered him is gone away. So it's annoying that his hurt and huffy temper is being shown as unreasonable by the narrative and the ML is telling a 10 year old to grow up and go away. Like at least the MC could actively seek out his kid brother at times, especially since the kid DIED in the last life. But yeah MC is more worried that his sick husband will be burdened, nah send the kid back to the school where he was killed last time. So when I don't like anything, the only sensible thing is to drop it ¯_ (ツ) _/¯ <<less

I can't believe people are liking the reviews made by people who didn't even read that many chapters. There's one that one read 3 chapters and one that only read 9. To the one that only read 3 chapters: how can you say the MC wasn't smart when you were barely introduced to the character?

I think the story is pretty well written, not super amazing though. My issue with it is that while MC is pretty smart, it's not really showcased in business. When people are scheming against them, they... more>> survive due to their cleverness but I felt like a huge MAJOR plot point relies heavily on the fact that MC should be amazing at business. The author glosses over most of his business decisions and transactions and most of it feels summarized.
Spoiler

The book that's mentioned in the summary? It's kind of important and a lot of people actually know if it's existence and want to obtain it but it's only mentioned in the beginning and then the MC totally forgets about it until the very end. I just feel that given how much people valued Tao Mushu and think MC is his successor, MC should have been a lot more impressive.

[collapse]
Also, the ending is very rushed. There's build up on who can be the enemy and whose colluding with who and then when you hit like c80 (with 7 chapters left) you get a whole summary of all the mystery that happened in the past, who is the actual enemy, and how they defeat the enemy all in one go. Made the build up feel anticlimactic.

You can never go wrong with a translation from Chrysanthemum Garden. I think the translations from the old translator aren't that great but the ones on CG are a lot better. <<less

The MC, on his wedding day in the sedan en route to the ML house, gets disrupted. A bad guy chases after him, and our MC runs into a shop that is owned by him/ part of his dowry. He starts talking to the shopkeeper about trusting him in business. The translation for this chapter was so bad I have no idea what they are talking about. At the same time, flabbergasted that he had so much time to talk to the shopkeeper about business in the middle of running... more>> from a bad guy??

The bad translations combined with this unreasonable insertion makes me rethink completing the story. Or maybe I should go for MTLs since other reviews have a thumbs up to the story <<less

Ooof the translation work here is pretty bad. Next time, I intend to just read the MTL. Not sure if that’s any better. If not, then I guess I’ll be passing this one. I read ten chapters so far, and it feels like the story is both super slow and super fast. Everything just felt so abrupt and the incomprehensible text makes things even more complicated.

SUMMARY: The MC is reborn, coming back on the day of his marriage with the ML. In his first life, he had been fooled by... more>> his stepmother and ended up not getting marriage, and assumedly, lived a horrible life thereafter. Now that he gets a second chance, he intends to stick with the ML in hopes of saving himself and his beloved brother (who is still living with the evil stepmother mentioned above.) <<less

The plot is clever. Too clever that I was confused about what the plot means, where is it directed to, and I felt the protagonists intelligent are above my league. I felt some plot holes because of the author's effort to create a complex mystery.

The characters are not properly explained. The names were similar, and I was confused, is Character-A the first brother or the second brother? Who died? What was the relationship between ML and the brothers? Or the relationships between Character-A, Character-B and Character-C.

I like the face slapping,... more>> though. There was no conflict between the protagonists, only conflicts with some annoying relatives and neighbors. <<less
