I started this despite being leery of all the cute and sweet comments and realized it was really familiar. turns out, I read it last year. there is a lot of fluff but if naive and ignorant "silly little fool" type MC drive you nuts, this is not the novel for you.

I feel disappointed there isn't more driving the plot and the story than the inability of two people to have a simple conversation for fifteen fricking years.

Turns out the ML created the system and s**ked the MC into it because he wanted to be loved by the MC and apparently creating and building the system and then kidnapping the guy he liked into it was easier than simply talking to him. The MC has a crush on the ML, too, but also never bothered to act on it or talk to the ML.

So.... lack of and need for actual communication between two people was the entire reason behind the creation of the worlds and the MC being forced into the system. seriously?!

And our MC suddenly bent from being a straight to Gay just fot the god damn plot. And he even thinks that ML raping him has no problem since MC is a man... Seriously, bro? This was a fun ride! I MTL'ed till the end, and it was really addictive. I like to skip chapters, when plot becomes boring, but I couldn't do it with this one. The world settings of every arc are interesting and not repetitive. MC's character developed steadily and believably with every chapter. There is almost no angst, but it still keeps you on your toes. ML has a few screws loose, but its understandable and only makes him even more of a cutie. He has no abusive tendencies whatsoever and,... more>> overall, is a big lump of cotton candy with lemon particles.

I can say Zhìchu's works always suits my preference.

The storyline, characteristic... love it all. If you like bitter sweet story. This novel maybe can be a good read.

MC is kind of introvert, not someone that can express himself good?. a BL writer but unable to write HE story (laughs) why? read it for the reason.

... more>> To understand this novel more I suggest to read 'Lovely Allergen' & 'I Only Like Your Character Settings '. (or maybe all novel listed in the 'shared universe') XDD

From the series, (title that listed in the 'shared universe') this was the 1st one written by Zhichu so don't compare. Anyway if you find it no suit your preference please drop it asap. This is only a fiction, no need to overthink, enjoy if its suits your preference.

If you're not proficient with MTL not recommended because can be misleading.

MC is a writer who ends all his novels with a Bad End, to the chagrin of his readers.

After suddenly dying, he finds himself QTing through his stories charged with giving them a Good End and living happily ever after with the love interest.

First I want to say, unless things take a very drastic turn after Ch 63, I think some of the reviewers have got this story mixed up with a different one. So far, there is no ab*se/gr*pe... more>> or indication it will happen. There is some minor teasing. The ML likes to tease the MC, and eventually the MC catches on and starts teasing back. It's very cute.

The MC starts off very naive/gullible. He isn't good socially and that shows. As the story goes on he leaves that behind. But the character type can be classified as 'Sweet Kid'.

We get the impression that the ML knows more than he's admitting to from their very first scene together and this is something that is maintained throughout. His character type can be classified as 'Childish' or maybe 'Fox-type'.

Here's some spoilery details of the arcs I've read so far:

  1. The Peak of Competition Between Beauty and Acting Skills

    Pretty standard actor arc. MC is an idol with terrible acting skills set to act as a gay couple in a movie with an acting god (ml). The MC is completely innocent and gullible at this stage. He doesn't quite know how to handle the ml's mischievousness. The conflict here is media slander, black fans, and his reputation as a terrible actor. There is no ab*se by ML on MC. They are very sweet together.

  2. The Rules of Raising a Dog-Type Boyfriend

    MC is a human with a strong fear of dogs. ML is a German Sheppard type demon. Demons are a discriminated class so the ML has to hide. The MC might be afraid of dogs, but he's not afraid of the ML. The ML unfortunately attracts dogs when his features are out. The ML doesn't deliberately call the dogs to scare the MC, but does think it's funny when the MC clings to him like a limpet every time dogs are around. There is reference in this one to ab*se of demons as demons are victims of experimentation. There is an adorable secondary gay couple in this, and everyone is very sweet together. The ML is more aggressive and possessive with this one thanks to his dog nature, but acts like a bratty puppy with the MC. The conflict here is societal discrimination.

  3. Is the Young Master Feigning Sickness Today

    MC is an illegitimate son of an upper class family. He's rejected from birth so is basically sold off as a talisman to take the bad luck for a papered upper class boy with poor health. Nothing magical, just superstition. The young master is completely gone on him and by this stage the MC is basically wise to the ML's trickery. He sees through almost everything. No longer naive and innocent. There's an adorable secondary lesbian couple in this, and everyone is very sweet together. The conflict is status and the responsibilities of rank.

One of the things that has impressed me reading this, is its portrayal of gay couples. It doesn't pretend they turned gay, the ones that are gay are portrayed as always being gay. It doesn't ignore the issues it can cause the characters, it's just that the characters love each other enough to make those issues seem small. The minor pairing characters have their own history and identity. It's written with consideration of the burdens placed on all characters, but also in defiance.

One final thing I'll say is, if you dislike fated love and love at first sight, I'd expect you to dislike this. Across a crowded room, these two would only ever meet each others eyes. <<less

Among QT entertainment this one is good but compared to novel that focuses on entertainment like the star around the sun, there is a great disparity.

There are also lapses but bearable. Will recommend for those who like QT. Looking forward to know the person in MC's memories (tidbits of flash back) but the cliché and predictable scenes make me want to drop

Honestly love love loved this novel. I saw a few negative reviews for which the reason is the romance however that's the reason for which I really loved this novel. I've read a lot of danmei, including QT, and I appreciate that this is different to the usual where falling in love is the subplot and the romance is slow. I love that this is quite fluffy and it doesn't take most of the novel to fall in love. I also felt like the ideas of each arc could be made into individual stories which I would gladly read because I really liked them.

The translation was really well done even though I had to mtl the extras. There were so many meaningful paragraphs in each arc, and some of the concepts or ideas were well phrased and interesting!

I was really satisfied with the first arc. The second one rub me the wrong way. The ML knew that the MC was Cynophobia, yet he actively tried to bully him with dogs. In real life this action won't be viewed as something "cute"...

It wasn’t what I was expecting but actually turned out better than. Really enjoying this read. So many fluffy meng moments. Thank you to the translators! They did a really good job with capturing some of the more poignant sentences. The author has a way with capturing some tender or nostalgic moments. I’m greatly looking forward to the rest of this arc and future arcs. At this point, I would recommend this novel to you. :)

First of all, I would like to share my opinion in this story. I really can't get off the feeling in my heart because the author's writing style suits me (which is about improvement, development, maturity, compassionate and passion etc.). Its really good and its definitely about feeling it, just enjoy the process. I have read the author's stories which made me sure the I love love the author now.

Second, I saw this couple in Lovely Allergen which made me curious about them, I really feel like reading it which... more>> made me enjoy the rest of the story. It was written realistically, especially the matter of their relationship in their youths which made me utter "oh, both idiots and fools..." but I realized, we all are fools, even at the later stage of it, I still realized, we all are afraid of being hurt, over–thinking everything which it shows in this story. it shows the cowardice, the obssesion, possessiveness, (i think everything?) of their love towards the person they love. It was a really good story. A beautiful one at that!

Third, its really about enjoying the full story, be curious about their journey, be happy and sad about their shortcomingd and happiness. Its all about drowning in the process, seeing the development which will be twice the amount. That's all I have learned of which I really am applying in real life.

I really like this novel, not sure why it doesn't have a higher rating to be honest.

The romance is quite cliche and can be repetitive, but there is a reason for the repetition. For a qt novel though, it is an interesting take and a nice twist.

I would say that the mc's feelings could have been portrayed better - he fell in love far too easily and I didn't really feel any conflicting emotions from him considering the characters were essentially stand inside for his white moonlight. But the... more>> fluff was delicious so I'll take it.

The timing of this author is both excellent and horrible (in a good way). It's the timing of the flashback arc right after the truth comes out. It made me want to pull my hair out (again, in a good way). I can't explain without spoilers, so I'll leave it at that.

The quality of this translation is great as well.

In all, definitely recommended for a fluffy novel with a light, romance centric plot. <<less

I've read a lot of QT, and this ranks on the lower end for me, not because of the writing so much as the plot itself.

One of the issues I have is that the story revolves around MC having to fulfill the romance plot lines of every world, and he falls for ML every time while also not realizing that they're all the same person. It ends up reading like a mix of harem and 1v1, and I tend to prefer if the MC stays emotionally detached if there's multiple... more>> MLs, or for MC to fall for the ML while knowing full well that it's the same person every time.

I enjoyed the first arc the most, as the subsequent arcs felt a bit lackluster just because of how MC seemed to be falling for a "new guy" every arc because their actions felt familiar somehow. He did start catching a clue by the fourth arc, but at that point I had lost a lot of interest already. I do really enjoy Zhichu's writing, so I'm giving an average rating despite not enjoying this story because her writing is still romantic and beautiful regardless of how little I actually liked the main characters.

There's not many arcs, only four that are technically QT:

Arcs 1 and 4 were enjoyable, 2nd arc was fine, but I skipped most of the 3rd arc (it was boring for me), skimmed the 5th, and didn't bother reading the last. I wasn't expecting a flashback arc in a QT so I wasn't really too interested in reading it. And the last arc they were dating at the start and I just didn't like either character enough to read it. Maybe my expectations for this novel just didn't match the reality, so I got disappointed with how the plot flowed.

Might be a weird take but I almost feel like this novel would have been better if it was entirely from ML's POV? The fifth arc has some parts in his perspective and it honestly would have been better without MC's POV at all, as I feel like MC is a pretty inconsistent character design and he's better off being mysterious. Having both perspectives frustrated me more than anything else because really now how dense can two characters be? Was the world hopping situation necessary? Why couldn't they talk even a bit if they were supposedly such best friends before? It doesn't make sense to me. <<less

It's good. The emotions of the characters will reel you in, this is a novel focusing on relationships and feelings. I'm the type to get really into the story and really put myself in the narrator's shoes that's why I'm dropping this. I can't take their self-inflicted angst anymore, I'm so frustrated.

Took off a star because MC's thoughts is so fickle and it changes in a sentence or two that I sometimes cannot keep up with. And he's not a character I liked reading. 3.5/5.

Yoww fr he summary MC transmigrated to his novels with BE, and fr some gist he do have some deep painful past that kinda make it hard for him to undrstand relationships

1st arc is idolxactor, MC did his best on the movie and with ML they are slowly getting to warm each other. There will be awkwardness and misunderstanding due to missed communications + because of their works. Mc's personality also makes him hesitant to face the budding feeling he has. This novel is actually so good I dont even know why theres so many bad reviews. Sure the novel might not be super well written or complete since its only a short novel. Butbut the romance between them is sooo cute and to be v honest the characters are very lovable too! Go read it and dont be deterred by those bad reviews boooo

I saw this review from amoralareine who mentioned about r*pe and what not. To be honest I dont even know if we are reading the same book... more>> because in what way did the novel mention about non consensual sex???? The system just said that the closer your relationship is the more points you'll get but it didnt mention that you have to get to the final stage to clear this 'world'??

everything the MC did with the ML was partially because of the system task but mainly because he saw his first love through those 'mls'. He was the one that felt attraction to the ML even though they weren't in the real world. Everything he did was consensual. He was happy to be with the ML in those worlds and he was happy to do those intinate things with him. Dont say it as if the ML is some red ass flag cause hes not.

Even if he did create a so called system so that he can have a chance to feel how its like to be loved by the MC, he didnt actually force the MC. I agree that this method isnt appropriate but 10 years of pining is more than enough to make someone desperate. And for me, since the MC actually does love and feel happy when they are tgt, I dont think this method is all that bad. At least it made them become the braver and better version of themselves

An ode to first loves & hopeless romantics

In short: MC transmigrates into his danmei works to fix their bad endings in order to return back to his body & reverse death.

To be fair, if you read it as a genuine QT novel, it is the incorrect method. Because if you dive in with that perspective, it’s just average. You have to absorb the story as a whole, factoring the purpose of each world & how every single one revolves around both MC & ML. The world settings are sparse in... more>> details & you’ll be left hanging most times. After the first two worlds, I kind of threw away all focus on world-building & just veered into the main CP’s relationship. It makes for a much better story that way.

I generally enjoy Zhichu’s works; I just didn’t know who the author was until I started getting suspicious because all of a sudden the lines in this novel were blowing up my mind. Like hello... literary braingasms incoming. I’m a romanticist by nature & the fact that me & MC share the same birthday confirms the fact that we’re both hopeless delulu birdbrains with a love for writing fictional fantasies to make up for lack of excitement. If anything, this novel felt like a direct brick to the head. Who HASN’T felt the agony of unrequited love & resorted to fantasies to fill the hole in your heart.

If you came for QT, go away. If you came because you love romances that go beyond the test of time & adore the concept of “falling in love with your soul everytime, ” YESSIR YOU HAVE ARRIVED TO THE RIGHT SPOT. <<less

Nice book. Finally golden single dog behave like one. Xu Qichen is awkward and don't know what exactly to do in first arc. Also there's clearly a glimpse of how everything went wrong in real life. I liked idea that both parties are unsure about each other feelings, keep hesitating and being just awkward. Also author really take big amount of words to describe their past and present. Often its quite fast-paced but here you can actually feel importance of real world.

Maybe bit boring after 1 arc for my taste... more>> and questionable action of doing it all of Xia Zhixu if you're taking things seriously. But overall good book with sweet and soft romance. They both love each other so all good that end good. Real life arc was sweet as was bittersweet memories arc. I liked very much their sweet interaction and how Xu Qichen became more proactive and how they started communicate and share all their thoughts with each other. <<less
